IOS 5 update, iPod Touch 3G is really a complete restore?
Going through all the normal things with the iOS 5 update on my iPod
Touch. Went through the usual reboots and then said it was starting to
restore. This involves all my apps AND all my music (25 gig). Is this
really the way this update is intended? Not about to try anything at this
point except let it chug along to completion.
Lord knows what is going to be the result of this is going to be when it's
done. Hope I don't end up with an iBrick.
Thanks for the quick reply. Maybe I just don't remember, but
I didn't recall this when going from 3.x to 4. Then again, I didn't
have this much stuff on it then an maybe just didn't notice.
In some respects I guess it's a good thing since it forces the
iPod to start from a "clean slate" so to speak. There should be
some warning that it could take a while.

No Wi-fi after IoS 6 update (iPod Touch 4th gen)
As it seems to be normal on these forums to make new topics whenever a subject doesn't perfectly fit your own question, I figured I'd do the same.
See, in the other topics, apparntly, resetting the iPod works and solves the problem.
However, in my case, it does not.
Even though it sometimes takes a few tries, I can still connect to a certain wi-fi, whether it be on the train (yes, Dutch trains have wi-fi) or at home, but when I actually try to access the internet, either it crashes and the wi-fi sign disappears, or it simply won't load the page I'm looking for.
I've never had issues with my iPod up to this point, but suddenly, since the update it seems like there's no way to properly access the internet anymore.
Just to repeat myself: I did try resetting my settings, but it hasn't had any effect yet.

I updated the ios on my ipod touch. Now when I browse the itunes store on my ipod, it only allows a very brief visit before automatically closing me out. I have to go back into the store and begin searches etc all over again. Is this a setting or a problem that is randomly occuring? I use to look for hours. Any thoughts?

after updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod. It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available -
I am trying to update ipod touch from ios 4.3.2 to ios 6.1.3. I have it connected to my computer, and the summary in itunes indicates the update is available. However, when I click "update", it opens Windows Explorer and waits for a file name to open.
I am not at that computer now, but I did check via windows update & with the check updates menu choice in the itunes program - neither indicated a newer version of itunes is available. (it is a vista computer).
The itunes software on the computer displays my ipod & the current ios (4.3.2), and indicates a newer ios is available (6.1.3). When I choose "update", I am taken to Windows Exploer and prompted to choose a file to open. it is as if the "update" button has the incorrect code attached to it.
The ipod is working, but there are several app I would like to install, but I can't with the current ooperating system. -

- Try on another computer

The only thing I didn't do right is that I didn't Erase all content from iPod... I did it from iTunes...

Update iPod touch ios 5.0
Update it as described in this article; there isn't a Software Update option in General on iOS versions prior to 5.0. It can only be updated directly to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the first generation iPod touch and original iPhone is 3.1.3.
The maximum iOS version for the second generation iPod touch and the iPhone 3G is 4.2.1.
The maximum iOS version for the third generation iPod touch and original iPad is 5.1.1.
The maximum iOS version for the fourth generation iPod touch and iPhone 3GS is 6.1.6.
If you don't know what device you have, append the last three characters of its serial number to http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords= and load the page.

I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, got error 1602
I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, i walked away from computer and when i came back there was an error "1602" and a picture on my ipod (requesting to connect to itunes?) but WILL NOT WORK AT ALL!
What's going on? Seems like a lot of people are having similar problems all at the same time.From the article cited at the end of my post:

Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.

Error 1603: If you receive this error and the iOS device is not automatically placed into recovery mode, it may be necessary to do so manually. Updating ipod touch to os5.1 got an error message "cannot connect the ipod touch because the pairing record is missing" don't know what this means or how to fix but am stuck, only option is to answer ok and close the error box. Any ideas?

I can not pull any file from mediathek to playlist since iTunes 10.5 . I get an forbidden sign in black. I see my ipod on itunes but can not pull (iOS 5.0) (ipod touch). And I can not synchronise...
On other PC all is working.Tried to turn Avast off but the problem still there.
I created a Playlist to my iphone using the musics already on it and the next try i could add new files to this playlist (and to the iphone) but if I try to add it the way I used to do (directly to the iphone) I still get the prohibited symbol.
This is ok, since I can use it the way I want (so far, i didn´t try yet to add other files like PDF or CBR files) and find a way to add the files i want, but I cannot help to think how wierd this is...
I just don´t like the way apple choosed to make possible transfer files to my device. I really like my iphone but my friends with Nokia and Android have an easier life on that matter... -
