The Pages software used on my ipad 2 will not install on my iPad 1 using the latest software 5.1.1

The latest version of Pages will not run on iOS 5.1.1, so you need to install a version that will run in iOS 5. Another member of the ASC, rbrylawski, posted this a little while back and I copied this for future use.
On your computer in iTunes, download Pages from the App Store to your iTunes library.
Then, on your iPad, in the App Store, click on Purchased.
Look for Pages in the Cloud in the purchased tab (tap not on this iPad in order to find it)
Tap on the Cloud and you'll be given an option to download a version that will run on iOS 5.1.1

  • I'm having a problem downloading iOS5. It downloads but will not install to my ipad.  Help!

I've downloaded iOS5 twice, but it will not install on my ipad2.  I receive the following message after an hour and 15 minutes of downloading: There was a problem downloading the software for ipad (Gives the ipad name).  This network timed out.  Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.  Please Help, the new features look VERY useful to me.

Try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed. If that doesn't work then you could try downloading the update via a browser : https://discussions.apple.com/message/16436025#16436025

  • IOS 7 will not activate after restore - iPad

I have just updated my iPad mini to iOS 7 Via iTunes. I did a full restore, it got to the start screen, Asked for the language and location, I then connected it to both Wi-FI and iTunes and it will not activate after multiple attempts!

Activation servers are being stressed just as hard as the download servers. Best to just wait it out and try again later.

How do I install ireader 3.1.1 on my ipad 1? I have tried through the computer itunes but it says it did not install. Help?

See if the developer offers a legacy version of this app. If not, you are, unfortunately, out of luck.

  • I am using an iPad mini and iOS 7 will not install, I already have it downloaded

    Question is in the title.

    Sorry that didn't work.
At this point I would wait and see if anybody else on the blog has a better idea or you can contact Apple.

Will ios 6 ever be available for IPAD first generation?

It's probably due to the RAM and processor limitations.

  • Latest update will not install on my iPad Air. iOS7.1.1

It starts to install and then I get a nastygram that it cannot be installed at this time. I have 78+ GB free, so it is not a lack of space problem.

    Hi HarveyFishman,
This is Ian from the revel team. We are experiencing an issue with this version that we are trying to resolve with Apple as soon as possible. Thank you for reporting this though. We are so sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime if you are trying to access your photos you can do so at adoberevel.com.
    Best,

  • I heard the iOS 6 will not be available on the iPad 1 , will I be able to keep Google maps?

I heard ios 6 will not be available on iPad 1 ,will I be able to keep Google maps ?

    Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The Maps application on iOS5 is, as I understand it, a custom front end for Google Maps that was created by Apple. It should continue to function indefinitely, so long as something does not change on the Google side that would prevent it from accessing their servers. Although I qualified the answer, it doesn't seem likely that Google would do such a thing.

  • IPad 2 Restore - Apps Will NOT Install

I have recently been having intermittent problems with my home button being unresponsive on my iPad 2.  I decided I would try a restore to see if this would resolve the problem.  The home button issue may be better (more time will tell) but whoa did this create an entire new set of challenges.
    What I did:
    1) Went into iTunes to update all apps afterwards performed multiple syncs and backups just to be safe.
    2) After restore to factory settings was completed I attempted to restore iPad 2 to my latest backup from earlier in the morning.
    3) Attempted restore multiple times each time an error message states:  The app "x" was not installed on the iPad because the app could not be found
    4) The 26 missing Apps appear in iTunes with a "Will Install" button.  Pressing this button changes it to "Install".  Attempted several additional syncs but apps would not appear on iPad.  I also tried to restore with the iPad off, USB disconnected, holding down the home button, attaching the USB Factory Restore to no avail.  All of the missing apps are current and available in iTunes such as:  Amazon, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, AroundMe, Yelp, Cards, BBC News, etc...you get it...common basic apps all gone missing.
    5) Went into iTunes Store on the iPad 2.  Searched in folder for Not on this iPad and Purchased.  Several purchased apps were missing from the list but some were there.  I tried to manually download the apps that were listed from the Cloud as well as manually enter the app name to re-download and install.  All of my missing apps when searched had the Cloud download icon even if they didn't appear in the Not on this iPad or Purchased screens.
    6) I am currently attempting to download all the missing apps from the Cloud and will try another sync.
    7) What should have been a very short an easy restore has now gone on for over 5 hours as I try multiple syncs, restarts, restores...
Does anyone know what is happening and how to prevent it in the future?
All of my software is up to date.  I am running OS X 10.8.4, iOS 6.1.3, all apps were updated on both device and iTunes library this morning prior to restore.
My iTunes settings for backups is set to iCloud automotic however I performed a backup to computer before attempting the initial restore.
    Please help!
    Thanks!!!

I have a similar issue. I recently purchased an iPad Mini, and I started off by backing it up from the apps I had on my iPhone. Now, I have a number of apps that never downloaded and that I don't want on the iPad. Some of these are apps that I don't need, while others are the iPhone versions of apps. There are something like 23 apps that I have no use for, but iTunes tries to install every time I connect. I've also tried clicking the 'Will Install' buttons. There's no way to delete these apps from the iPad without first installing them, as far as I can see, and there's no way to NOT install them, in iTunes.
It''s not just annoying, it's causing problems with installation of larger files and movies. Now, every time I sync to the computer, I get a warning that I'm over capacity by 580 MB, and larger apps will not install! Clicking Revert and a bunch of other things doesn't work, either. And I can't just delete some of the apps, because I or my wife use them on our phones!

  • HT6147 The new upgrade for IOS 7.0.6 will not download on my iPad Air or 4S phone.

The new upgrade for IOS 7.9.6 will not download on my IPad Air or 4S phone.  Why?

Is there a message underneath the Download and Install button?
On the iPad it starts to download then says error.
    More specific, please. What error?

  • So ios 6 will not be on ipad 1.

On the basis the ios 6 will not be on the first generation ipad, does this mean that apple will not issue any updates or support for the product again. Just want to know if ipad 1 is now obselete or what?

    Yes. I am "STUCK" with 2, 1st-gen iPads (16gb and a 64gb).
Everyone uses their iPad for different purposes, and for basic use it is great.
For a 56-year-old who uses it for email and surfing the web, its perfect! Much faster than booting up a laptop.
For more advanced users who want more intensive apps, the first-gen iPad has been left in the dust. I was upset when Photoshop Touch was released and supported only iPad2+. More and more apps are following this lead, so YES, the iPad is "stuck".
The point IS that iOS6 is available as a scaled down version for the iPhone3GS. The iPad 1 system specs are essentially the same as an iPhone 4. The lifespan of OS updates is being artificially shortened for the 1st gen iPad.
