  • Since upgrading to iOS 7 app updates notes that I need to change stores?

Upgraded to iOS 7 - cannot update Apps - tell me to change stores - check my Apple ID - this is pointed to the store the dialog is asking me to direct to - has anyone got a workaround for this please?

    Hey Nancyhunter,
I would first restart, and then if that doesn't work, reset. You can read about how to do both here:

  • IOS 7 app updates piling up

In the older iOSs when you updated an app in the app store, closed it and reopened it, it was gone, leaving your updates page clean and tidy.  With iOS 7, they update but never leave, leaving a growing list of already updated apps.  I haven't been able to find a way to clear this list.
    Is this by design?
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    Thanks!

im having the same problem, 7.0.2, i cant update the apps, i log out of itunes and now i cant log in.. keeps on giving me error cant connect to itunes..  ive master reset the phone but still the same thing.. now all my apps are deleted and i cant log in to itunes either...

  • How to ignore iOS 7 app updates?

Is there a way to ignore App Store updates for iOS 7?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2357
This is the only useful page relating to the problem that I can find and it isn't even up-to-date for OS X, let alone iOS. It is annoying to have to see the little red bubble at the corner of my App Store icon and have the App Store nag me every time I open the App Store to update apps I don't want to update. Any ideas?
To clarify, I want to be able to ignore individual updates, I'm not trying to just turn off updates. They are already set to manually update because otherwise it wouldn't be nagging me to update them, so setting the App Store to manually update is not the solution I'm looking for.

Sorry, but there isn't, at least none I've ever found. You'll just have to ignore the notices yourself.
    Regards.

  • Bug in IOS Skype App (Update 4.17.3)

    Hi,
I've been having some difficulty with my Skype app for my Iphone as it will show some of my contacts as online but they won't reply leading me to check on my laptop finding that they are not actually online like my phone says. This has been happening in previous updates I've had as well as this one.
    Kind Regards,
    Rebekah

    Hi there,
I have faced a similar issue: While being on invisible status on my mac and wish to be the same on my i-phone (latest system update), it would put me automatically on online status! That I do not want, I always want to be on invisible status. Basically the latest Skype update does not synchronize my status. Please try to fix this bug.
    Thx,
    AA

  • Ios 7 app updates

Since ios7 any updates that I get for apps sometimes appear in the updates section of the app store and at other times they disappear. Its difficult to know if I have an app that requires an update because sometimes they show up and other times they dont. Very frustrating.
    Anyone else notice this happening???

    Hello,
I restarted and reset the phone and the same behaviour in the app store continued. Just a few minutes ago, I checked the app store updates and it showed none. I went back in no more then 30 seconds later, and 5 updates appeared. I went back in a few minutes later, and they were gone again. This is extremely frustrating.
This is definitely a result of ios7 and the app store, as I am also experiencing problems downloading apps that I have not previously purchased. I get the message unable to purchase, please try again later. However when I kill the app store from the background and go back in seconds later, the app appears in my purchased section and I have to redownload in order to get it on my device. In order to download an app I have to go through many steps as the basic buy, enter password and dowloading begins, doesn't seem to be happening. However, when I try to redownload a perviously purchased app which is not on my phone, it works without a problem.
When I first downloaded ios7 I was unable to enter my user id and password anywhere. I could not get facetime and imessage to sign in, so I did a full restore to factory state and then restored from backup and I was suddenty able to log in, but now I have this app store problem.

  • Incompatible iOS 8 apps updating on my iPhone 4 that only supports iOS7. How can I keep the correct Apps?

My iPhone 4 is running iOS7. When updating the apps they change to the latest version (8), not supported by my OS. Where are the iOS7 compatible versions? Why can't we keep versions that work? There should be a way that iTunes does not allow updates if there are compatibility issues.
My device functions ok, so there is no need to update and financially I can not consider a change at the present time.
(I am hoping other angry users having same issue, so we can unite, rant and create enough publicity to force Apple's hand. Power to the People! =D)

    animcreate wrote:
Ranting is always good... gets it out of the system =)
I understand what your saying... all apps are saved to my library. When I click on update however, it just updates the app with no consideration of compatibility. Yes, they're third party. iTunes however is not.
Apple does have control of iTunes, so theoretically could write simple code to determine version numbers and compatibility. It could then simply stop the updates that write over apps in the library. (It may be that the previous versions still reside on my system... I would love to know how to find them if they do...).
By allowing 'no control', it then means that devices that are older will not be able to run functional apps. That is counter productive from a consumer base that can not keep up with the latest 'of everything'.
    Thanks for the reply.
That works if your only device is an iPhone 4 and you never plan on adding a newer device. However, I sync 5 devices with iTunes on my computer. I certainly want the latest version of apps for the devices that support it.
You have the option of restoring an older version to the iTunes library from a backup (if you back up your computer regularly). With a Mac and Time Machine it's just a couple of clicks. Also, it's worth knowing that when iTunes updates an app it deletes the old version to trash (or recycle bin), so you can recover it from there up to the time you empty trash/recycle bin.

  • TS1702 iOS 6 app update snafu

Restored my iPhone from a backup. Now everything seems ok.

  • HP ePrint iOS app no longer finds Photosmart C4780 after app update

I have an HP Photosmart C4780 connected through WiFi to my network but sadly it's not supported by AirPrint on iDevices.
So, I was using HP ePrint Home & Biz iOS app (version 4.1) which was very useful for me as it found the printer and allowed me to print from my iPad/iPhone.
Today I updated the app on my iPhone to version 5 (now simply named "HP ePrint" on the App Store) and after the update, the new version doesn't find my Photosmart C4780 anymore. I did the Activation thing on the iPhone, as it was requested to refresh the list of printer on my network in the All tab, but after Refresh no printer is found.
Still I have the old 4.1 on my iPad (and hopefully in my iTunes library) and the printer is located, I assume, through mDSN as it shows the name specified for this setting.
So, question is: Did you dropped support for Photosmart C4780 on 5.0 release of HP ePrint iOS app? If so, why did't you informed this appropriately on the app update text description in the App Store? A message like "some printers may not be supported anymore" would have been helpul.
If HP ePrint should find Photosmart C4700 series printers and this is an issue, how should we proceed from here?
    Thanks.

    WilliamBPS,
I was not informed that support was removed from the app for certain printers. It may have been lost in the transition to the new updated app. I will deffinitly pass this information along as it is very important that the app supports as many printers as it can. I'll go ahead and take note of your printer model. If I find anything out about this, I'll try to give you an update in this thread.

  • App update available from iTunes, but not from iOS ?

Found earlier today that one app had an update available on iTunes on my PC (Windows 7) ... while it wasn't available from the app store on my iPhone. The iOS app Store kept showing the old version of that app as the latest. Had to sync the iPhone with iTunes to transfer the update. How can that happen? ... and no my App Store app on iOS is not completely broken, as it keeps giving me updates for all other apps ... so far. Meaning that my Apple ID isn't a problem either.

On the iPod open the App Store app > Updates > Purchased then redownload. If nothoing shows make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID that the purchase was made with:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID

  • I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state.

I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state. I have tried signing out/in of my account, rebooting and removing/re-installing the apps.  This started shortly after going to iOS 5 but I am not certain if that is related.  All updates that I try now are stuck in "waiting".  I also tried removing the apps and then installing via iTunes desktop sync with no improvement.  The only thing that I have not tried so far is a restore to a prior iPhone backup.  I have not been able to find anything to indciate what the updates on waiting on.  There is plenty of space on the iPhone (16gb available).  Any suggestions on what to try next?

    Hello there, Missy.
First thing I would recommend is to check your downloads queue to make sure there is not an interrupted download per the following Knowledge Base article:
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    1. From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
    2. For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
    3. Enter your account name and password if prompted.
    4. Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.
For Apps, you can also try tapping on the application icon to resume the download, as outline in this featured discussion:
App updates won't download on my...: Apple Support Communities
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4111336
Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

  • How do I disable future iOS updates till later date to prevent problems with non iOS compliant Apps?

Hello first time post here so excuse me if my posting etiquette is off and this seems lengthy.
I am a beginning tech (4 months) in a school district that has started the 1 to 1 initiative with iPads (iPad 2).
There is a huge learning curve I am facing as I don't know hardly anything about the new piece of software - apple Configurator. (A side note I was issued my very first iPad in the same time working for the district. BTW liking the iPad a lot).
I am looking for friendly beginning user info on how to operate the Apple Configurator - suggestions? At this time I have only served in an observer capacity as it assigned to someone else in the district to do. However I know this person would appreciate another mind to help out  around the problem so I need to get up to speed.
This a story of bumps and scrapes and bruises on the 1-1 initiative in the district and its 4 major hiccups have occurred (that I observed).
I am hoping others have discovered these problems and figured out a way to handle them or avoid them and would be willing to share what you did.
    Here goes...
The district started the 1-1 initiative roughly 3 years ago. They had a person in the middle school (way before me) in charge of the iPads. They used the IPhone Configurator device to manage the iPads. My understanding was this was very slow. That person was finally able to retire and took their knowledge they had of the iPhone Configurator utility that they used with them. The district chose to start using the Apple Configurator software this year for iPad management.
We have a brand new person that has been put in charge of this. The person did not know the software either (nor did anyone else in the district). This person has made great strides to learn the software. However there has been some issues along the way:
            1. The school where the iPad 1-1 initiative is a middle school. The students are assigned the same iPad for all three years. As 6th graders come in they are issued an iPad. As the 8th grade finishes up, they head on to high school and the iPads gets recycled to the next 6th graders walking in the door. Each grade level has there own set of apps, so the (finished) 8th graders iPads get reset for the next 6th graders walking in.
The issue is (my understanding) is that the volume purchase apps did not always revert back to the Apple Configurator/App store spread sheets before the iPads were reset. It took an act of congress with Apple to refund these apps because they were lost. Mind you we have 400 iPads in just this school alone so you can see why it was important to get these Volume Purchase Apps refunded to put on the new 6th graders iPads. $$$
             2. When the iPads were given to the students, the Apps would not work and all they would do is shake for a second. The iPads were recollected and redone. Time away from the students and classes.
            3. The iPads were refinished (with all the apps reinstalled) and given to the students. Then the students were given instructions in class how to manually setup their exchange email accounts on their iPads. Turns out the restrictions on the iPads (from the apple Configurator) were set up so the email info they put in could not verify with the exchange server. They wouldn't send or receive. So the iPads were all recalled back (time away from students and their classes again) and redone with the restrictions/ apps reinstalled.
            4. Most recent problem... iOS6 came out and all of a sudden we find out that two of our biggest 3rd party Apps were having problems with it. So it made the Apps at that point worthless. (These are paid for - expensive, most used by the school Apps).  Well there was no way to prevent the students from updating to IOS6 on their own (mind you they can't get to the App Store) but they can do the iOS6 update whenever they want. Before the problem was discovered, students were prompted by their iPads and they started doing the iOS6 update. I discovered this and immediately had the secretary send out emails to everyone do not download this thing because it was making problems for existing installed Apps. Of course there are were a few more students that were like "this don't apply to me right?" and they downloaded it anyways.
So after 3 weeks of these apps not working, App update/releases were finally given and they are working again. So far we have only fixed some of iOS6 kids that are in need of those two broken apps.
Now we are at a crossroad with the other 95 installed apps to consider ... if we let the students update to iOS6 to fix the two broken apps will it interfere with the other 93 apps that are working under iOS5.1...
This iOS update thing would be better considered in the summer time for us (for future iOS updates).
So I need to know is there away to prevent this in the future? Is there away to hold off the iOS updates till summer? I've seen people say control it by blocking it through the network but it doesn't prevent them from doing this at home. Where in the apple Configurator can we control this?
    Thanks for reading.

You will not be able to block IOS 6.  You can try blocking it with a webfilter or firewall but if the students take these home or connect to another network or iTunes they can get it that way.   You will find that the vast majority of all apps will work with 6 or have been updated to work with it by now.

  • Did the ios 8.3 update now i can tview photos from the camera app and the photos wont save to my photos app.

I just did the  new ios 8.3 update for my iPhone. I've been trying to take pictures from the camera app and it wont allow me to click on the picture to view it  and none of the new photos are saving to my photos app or if you send a picture through text it doesn't save the original to the photo app either. is this a problem with the new version of ios or have a maybe selected something to not allow me to add more photos? I only have 400 photos saved on my phone so its not a fact of not having enough space. any help would be greatly appreciated

    3. Unplug cable from iPhone.
    4. Plug it again.
    expected result:

  • Cannot download apps to iPad since iOS 5.1 update.  Get error message "An unexpected error has occurred"

cannot download apps to iPad since iOS 5.1 update.  Get error message "An unexpected error has occurred"

    Hi mike,
Seems like a frustrating problem! Try restarting your device, and trying again. If that doesn't work, in settings, under store, tap your apple id at the bottom of the page, and then sign out. Sign back in again, and try again.
Also, check you have enough remaining space on your iPad for the app you want to download, you can do this in settings, then general, then usage.
I also reccomend buying the app in iTunes on your computer, and then syncing it to your device.
Let me know how you get on, and I'll get back to you with further help if needed,
    Nathan
