IOS Deployment Model

Hi everybody (Hi Dr. Nick!),
We are finally getting to add an iOS application as part of our product suite for one of our market verticals.
This iOS application isn't sold, and isn't marketed, and isn't intended for anyone other than our existing enterprise software customers to make use of so I am asking what the Apple preferred deployment model is for this type of thing.
The Apple store is a very undesirable deployment model for us - we don't want marketing, we don't need someone else hosting, the application itself is free, so we've zero desire to have to submit changes/patches/fixes for each application when each corporation will have its own branded application and each application would need to be re-approved by Apple before it could be rolled out, et ceter...
I looked into the Enterprise developer program and the deployment model is perfect for us, our clients have already existing online account services with us - so rolling out the App via a web server would be trivial for us; HOWEVER, it appears that this methodology is only meant for companies to roll out apps internally to their own employees.
Is that right?  Sometimes Apple is very touchy about things and sometimes not - I don't want to use the Enterprise program in a way that Apple will be unhappy with.
Is there some middle ground?  Some way to privately provide iOS applications to companies?
Thanks,
     Hans

If the application branding is labels, graphics, and whether specific features are enabled/disabled, consider a single app that dynamically brands itself after the user registers. The user probably needs to supply a server URL, username, and password to connect to your product suite, at this point you know what customer branding to configure.  You could download a configuration file specific to that customer.
If your product suite is a commercial-off-the-shelf product with a single code baseline that supports multiple customers, there is a good bet the server components already follow this design pattern themselves.

  • Need suggestion for ISE distributed deployment model in two different data centers along with public certificate for HTTPS

    Hi Experts,
I am bit confused about ISE distributed deployment model .
I have two data centers one is DC & other one is as a DR I have  requirement of guest access service implementation using CWA and get public certificate for HTTPS to avoid certificate error on client devices :
how do i deploy ISE persona for HA in this two data centers
After reading cisco doc , understood that we can have two PAN ( Primary in DC  & Secondary in DR ) like wise for MnT (Monitoring will be as same as PAN ) however I can have 5 PSN running in secondary i.e. in DR ISE however I have confusion about HA for PSN .. since we have all PSN in secondary , it would not work for HA if it fails
Can anybody suggest me the best deployment solution for this scenario ?
Another doubt about public certificate :
Public Certificate: The ISE domain must be a registered or part of a registered domain name on the Internet. for that I need Domain name being used from customer .
Please do correct me if I am wrong about certificate understanding :
since Guest will be the outside users , we can not use certificate from internal CA , we need to get the certificate from service provider and install the same in both the ISE servers
Can anybody explain the procedure to opt the public certificate for HTTPS from service provider ? And how do i install it in both the ISE servers ?

Hi there. Let me try answering your questions:
PSN HA: The PSNs are not configured as "primary" or "secondary" inside your ISE deployment. They are just PSN nodes as far as ISE is concerned. Instead, inside your NADs (In your case WLCs) you can specify which PSN is primary, which one is secondary, etc. You can accomplish this by:
    1. Defining all PSN nodes as AAA radius servers inside the WLC
    2. Then under the SSID > AAA Servers Tab, you can list the AAA servers in the order that you prefer. As a result, the WLC will always use the first server listed until that server fails/gets reloaded, etc.
    3. As a result, you can have one WLC or SSID prefer PSN server A (located in primary DC) while a second WLC or SSID prefer PSN server B (located in backup DC)
Last but not the least, you could also place PSNs behind a load balancer and that way the traffic would be equally distributed between multiple PSNs. However, the PSN nodes must be Layer 2 adjacent, which is probably not the case if they are located in two different Data Centers
Certificates: Yes, you would want to get a public certificate to service the guest portal. Getting a public/well known certificate would ensure that most devices out there would trust the CA that signed your ISE certificate. For instance, VeriSign, GoDaddy, Entrust are some of the ones out there that would work just fine. On the other hand, if you use a certificate that was signed by your internal CA, then things would be fine for your internal endpoints that trust your internal CA but for any outsiders (Guests, contractors, etc) that do not trust and do not know who your internal CA is would get a certificate error when being redirected to the ISE guest portal. This in general is only a "cosmetic" issue and if the users click "continue" and add your CA as a trusted authority, the guest page would load and the session would work. However, most users out there would not feel safe to proceed and you will most likely get a lot of calls to your helpdesk :)
    I hope this helps!

  • Package Configuration Wizard or Project Deployment Model

I am using SQL Server 2012 and I have multiple SSIS packages working in DEV.
My aim is to deploy these to File System for execution by a Windows Service application. Should I therefore using the Package Configuration Wizard for storing DEV and PROD server details?
Is the Project Deployment Model only required when deploying to SQL Server?

    Hi DarrenOD,
The project deployment model enables you to deploy your projects to the Integration Services server. And there are some features like Parameters, Environment, Environment variables, SSISDB catalog and Catalog stored procedures and views that are available
to projects developed only for the project deployment model.
After converting project deployment model to package deployment model, there are four steps in the package deployment process:
The first optional step is optional and involves creating package configurations that update properties of package elements at run time. The configurations are automatically included when you deploy the packages.
The second step is to build the Integration Services project to create a package deployment utility. The deployment utility for the project contains the packages that you want to deploy.
The third step is to copy the deployment folder that was created when you built the Integration Services project to the target computer.
The fourth step is to run, on the target computer, the Package Installation Wizard to install the packages to the file system.

  • IPad Packager - iOS Deployment Target problem

    Hello,
I've been working on an iPad app (using CS5), got everything in place, i.e. apple dev account, all my details cleared to sell apps, got my development app working great on my iPad.
    BUT...
When I'm trying to upload the finished version using Application Loader I get the following message:
This bundle is invalid. When supporting iPad only, the iOS Deployment Target must be 3.2.
There is no way to set the deployment target in the flash CS5 settings, I've looked on various forums but can't find any answers to this. Can't believe I've got to this last step and I'm hit with this. Are adobe bringing any fixes out for this?
    Any Ideas please???
    cheers
    K

Awesome -- I wish I could mark as "Answered" for this post -- Kevkong1971 I really really really appreciate being shown that post.  Of course you can search and search but if you don't find the right one.....  Well thanks..
I thought I would distill the answer and post again for those who need it.  Here is the proceedure I followed (gleaned entirely from the work of others) And yes, it does work.  I have both of my "iPad" only apps now up for Apple's review.
    Here you go:
this is a copy and paste of something I popped up on my personal weblog---------
The following post addresses the “you must target a minimum of IOS 3.2” when you try to publish an app you’ve written with Adobe Tools and targeted “iPad Only”.
So thanks to the guys on the Adobe Forums, there are a lot of posts so I hope to distill it down for anyone who needs and also for myself (for future apps!)
Step 1: Copy your .IPA file to a MAC
Step 2: Rename file to .zip
Step 3: Extract contents of .zip
Step 4: Pull out the “yourApplication.app” file from the “Payload” folder you extracted
Step 5: Right click on .app file and select “show package contents”
Step 6: Edit the info.plist file
Step 7: Change the “MinimumOSVersion” entry to 3.2
    Step 8: Close and Save
Step 9: Download THIS .PY Python script you will need to make your .xcent file authentic
Step10: write your .xcent file using pico or your favorite pure-text editor.  Just create this file from scratch and name it yourApplication.xcent As Follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
        <key>application-identifier</key>
        <string>10DIGITCODE.YOUR.DOMAINAND.APPLICATIONNAMEHERE</string>
        <key>get-task-allow</key>
        <true/>
    </dict>
    </plist>
step 11: assuming the .py file you just downloaded and .xcent file you just created above are in the same directory execute the following in the terminal:
    python gen_entitlements.py 10DIGITCODE.COM.YOURDOMAINAND.APPNAMEHERE yourAppName.xcent
OK So far so good.  Now you have a valid .xcent file, and you have fixed your .plist.  Now you have to put them together and resign with your credentials.  To do this execute the following in your terminal:
    /usr/bin/codesign -f -s "iPhone Distribution: YOUR NAME" "--resource-rules=/Users/yourusername/Desktop/yourAppName.app/ResourceRules.plist" --entitlements "/Users/yourusername/Desktop/yourAppName.xcent" "/Users/yourusername/Desktop/yourAppName.app"
Note:  The “iPhone Distribution: YOUR NAME” needs to match your distribution certificate in your keychain.  Open KeyChain and make sure you type it exactly as it is in there.
step 12: Right click the .app file and select “compress”
    step 13: upload your app!!!
    Hope that helps someone!!
    Cheers,
    Tommy

  • Deployed models are cached during unit tests

I am using Stardust 2.1.1, and currently I am writing unit tests with JUnit, Spring and an in-memory Derby database. I would like to create a clean state for each of the unit tests, so I create and initialize the database before every test method and drop it after method executions. I also dispose of the Spring application context and initialize it between test methods with the @DirtiesContext(classMode = ClassMode.AFTER_EACH_TEST_METHOD) annotation.
My problem is that despite dropping the database and reinitializing the Spring context after every test method my previously deployed models are still cached and I get an authorization-related exception:

I looked into the code and found out that the ModelManagerBean and ModelMananagerBeanPartition classes cache my test model. I set the Infinity.Engine.Caching property to false in my carnot.properties as per the online documentation but the model is still getting cached.
What is the proper way to disable caching in Stardust or how can I ensure that it disposes of everything that is cached?
    Thank you.

In the Authorization2.checkPermission(...) method there's the following call:
    List<IModel> models = ModelManagerFactory.getCurrent().findActiveModels();
This is a call to the ModelManagerPartition.findActiveModels() method. This class also has a deleleAllModels() method. If I try to call either of them manually after deploying the model in the first test, I get a NullPointerException.

  • ACE4710 deployment models

I'm looking for some advice on an ACE 4710 deployment model.  We'll be doing an eval later in the year, but I'm just looking to understand the architecture.
We have a stack of 3750 switches with a single VLAN (10.1.1.0/24).  Connected to that stack is a pair of web servers (10.1.1.5 and 6) that we want to provide load balancing/failover for.  Some of the clients are located right there on that same VLAN.  Other clients may be coming from other spots in the infrastructure.
It sounds like I could put a pair of 4710s connected to that stack of switches, in a single arm deployment?  And then the virtual IP and the real servers would all be 10.1.1.0/24.  Maybe use an etherchanel to connect each 4710 to two 3750s?
Or would it make more sense to use a routed deployment?  I read http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/contnetw/ps5719/ps7027/ps8361/guide_c07-572616_ps7027_Products_White_Paper.html and it focuses mostly on a routed deployment.  Any other docs that compare/contrast the different styles?
    Thanks, Bill

    Hi Francis,
It's hard to talk about pros and cons because, in the end, you can achieve the same results with any of the topologies.
The main advantage of one-arm over other topologies is the easiness of implementation on a alrady working environment. To implement it, you don't need to make any changes to your vlans or the IP addressing scheme, just plug the ACE in the server vlan. In exchange, the one-arm setup requires some extra configuration to ensure that the reply from the servers is going back through the ACE.
The most common way of achieving this is source-nat. With this configuration, the servers will see all the requests coming from one single IP address (or a few of them if the nat pool includes more than one). There are some applications that use the client ip address for authorization/accounting purposes, so, for those, not seeing the real address of the client is unacceptable.
As I said, source-nat is the most common way of ensuring that return traffic goes through the ACE, but it's not the only one. As an alternative, it's also normally possible to configure policy-based-routing on the switch so that any traffic from the server IP addresses towards the clients is forwarded to the ACE.
    Regards
    Daniel

  • Use Package Parameters in Package Deployment Model

Can you use Package Parameters when you use the Package
Deployment Model? The Parameter tab is visible in SSDT and in SSDT they seem to work, but can you use them outside SSDT? In a SQL Agent Job or on the command prompt?
And if not... why is the tab visible? ;-)

    Hi HansAnderss,
Integration Services (SSIS) parameters allow us to assign values to properties within packages at the time of package execution. We can create project parameters at the project level and package parameters at the package level. But the use of parameters
are only supported in Project Deployment Model, we cannot use parameters in Package Deployment Model. This is by design.
Just as you said, we can also see the Parameters tab in Package Deployment Model. And I couldn’t find a way to hide the pane. If you have concern about this issue, I recommend you that submit the requirement at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/.  If the requirement mentioned by customers for many times, the product team may consider to add this feature in the next SQL Server version. Your feedback
is valuable for us to improve our products and increase the level of service provided.

  • SSIS Parent package Deployment model

    Hi,
I'm converting a SSIS 2008 R2 solution with multiple project to SSIS 2014, one of the projects stores only parent packages and these packages are calling packages in other projects. Using project deployment with project reference I guess this is not possible.
But can I have a parent package in package deployment model project and then call child-packages in project deployment model? Can I set values in an SQL Server Agent Job that sets project parameters?

    Hi perwi,
I think in this scenario just convert, the legacy mode should be used and make sure the conversion is successful, only then try switching to Project Deployment.
Nothing can be set in the Agent, but in the Catalog (SSISDB).

  • Cisco Unified Communication Manager Deployment Model Question

    Hello,
I am researching how to create a cluster over the WAN for CUCM and all of the design specifications I look at have a Voice Router between the cloud and the Subscribing servers. Why can the Subscribing servers not talk directly to each other?
    Thank You
    P.S such as this http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/4x/42models.html#wp1045977
    Local Failover Deployment Model
The local failover deployment model provides the most resilience for clustering over the WAN. Each of the sites in this model contains at least one primary Cisco Unified CallManager subscriber and one backup subscriber. This configuration can support up to four sites. The maximum number of phones and other devices will be dependant on the quantity and type of servers deployed. The maximum total number of IP phones for all sites is 30,000. (See Figure 2-5.)
Figure 2-5 Example of Local Failover Model

    Hi
They can talk to each other directly, you are correct.
Typically a voice router would also be a WAN router only in small branch sites.
On a deployment anywhere near the size indicated the voice gateways would be single-purpose hosts (as they are also indicated on the diagram).
I presume they are indicated with a V as the 'could' be voice gateways as well, though they would almost certainly not be.

  • Error Deploy Model

    Hi guys,
    I import Credit Manager Xapps
When a click in compile model all ok.
When a click Deploy Model in Visual Composer, send me the follow error :

    Hi Eduardo,
it seems like you do not have the corresponding permissions to realize the deployment.
You should check the "portal deployment folder" and "portal system folder" on your storyboard under Tools -> Options -> Compiler. Ask the administrator if you have permissions on these folders.
    Also check the following link:

  • How can I use UC4 instead of SSIS Master Package deployed using project deployment model?

    Hi Folks,
My team is planning to opt UC4 for scheduling the SQL Jobs and I have to come up with a plan to integrate it.
As of now, I do not have software licence in place to do some research.
If you have worked on it, can you tell me that how can I schedule SSIS packages using UC4.
Also, we are using SSIS project parameters (Project deployment Model). What kind of changes I have to make in SSIS packages to support UC4. Is it possible to pass parameters to SSIS package through UC4? If not, is there any alternativ?

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Software IOS deployment problems

When I try to deploy an IOS using the software deployment in Cisco PI 2.0 the jobs always fail. I have tried many different configurations and even switched flash cards but nothing works. The TFTP/SCP jobs always fail. Doing a "show flash:" I can see the image begin to copy, but it suddenly disappears and the job fails.
Any help would be very appreciated, this is very frustrating!!
    Here is the failure message:
SWIM1125: Failed to copy the image to Flash due to the reason - copyUnknownFailure :failure unknown. Retry the operation. If the problem persists, check the Bug Toolkit application for any known issues on the running image version.Error loading image to flash.Image Copy Operation Failed
    Thanks very much.

I solved my issue by running looking at the debug output on the 2811 router I was pushing the IOS (.bin file) to. I noticed that the TFTP traffic would simply stop without warning and seemingly for no reason. I gave up on the TFTP and had to configure the router for SCP instead (aaa new-model, etc.). The image would successfully copy from the prime server to flash after that.
The failure output from prime was very unhelpful for both tftp and scp failures. It wasn't until I did some SCP configuration reading that I realized I had SCP configured wrong. Still no idea why the TFTP wouldn't work.
