IOS & iCloud: Broken iCloud data causes kbd process to crash constantly and drains battery

On Stackoverflow I was told to come here. Since a few days ago my iPhone 5s is getting unusually warm and the battery drains REALLY quick, like in 4-5 hours. I tried turning all the usual suspecty off (location service, cellular data, push, etc.) but no change. Now, when looking through the crash logs on the device, I found a huge number of crash reports for the kbd process. There is a crash log every ~30-60 minutes and they all contain something like this:
{"app_name":"kbd","bug_type":"185","name":"kbd","os_version":"iPhone OS 7.1.2 (11D257)","version":"???"}

The mdnsresponder will not quit.  Consumes above 100% CPU and kills my battery.  Also causes my fan to run constantly and my computer to get extremely hot.  Force quitting doesn't work.  It just comes back.   I posted about this earlier and never got an answer.  Somebody, please help.
    Thanks.

mDNSResponder is a background process that runs all the time. If you kill it, it's relaunched automatically.

  • Iphone become hot and drain battery really fast after on data roaming.

My iphone 4s are getting hot after i on date roaming and drain battery really fast.... I already update my iphone from 5.01 to 5.1, but it wont work... Can somebody help me? Should i replace my iphone?

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
Have ALL these steps been tried?

  • My iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4 still gets hot and drains battery with everything but cellular turned off.  What to do?

Have a new iPhone bought in late July 2013.  It had zero heating issues and battery issues until the past week (Nov. 2013).  Now, the iPhone gets hot to the touch and the battery drains within 2 to 3 hours, EVEN AFTER I HAVE DISABLED ALMOST EVERY FEATURE OF THE iPHONE.
This iPhone has iOS 7.0.4, installed within last 36 hours.  I then erased the entire iPhone and restarted it as a New iPhone.  Then I went in and turned off everything in the way of Settings that permit disabling.  All notifications, spotlight searches, application updating, accessibility features, push features, location services, etc. were turned off or disabled.  Brightness is set to Auto.  Don't use the iCloud.
After doing all of that, which essentially rendered this iPhone just a clunky old cell phone, not even using WiFi, I connected to iTunes on my computer and restored my backed up apps, photos.
After the Restore, I went back into settings and made certain that, again, all notifications, app services, location services, updatings, etc. were disabled, still.
    The problem persists.
It seems the only solution is to get rid of all my Apps and never use WiFi, or iCloud, or Mail.  That is unacceptable.
Does anyone have a solution, besides my calling on the warranty on this phone?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • IOS iCloud Data Storage Guidelines

If you have used the Digital Publishing Suite to create a multi-folio viewer for the iPad, you've probably gotten a message from Apple indicating that you should store data in a different location. With the v14 format and earlier, the Viewer Builder stored downloaded folios in the Documents folder, which is backed up in iTunes. With the v15 format and later, the Viewer Builder will store downloaded folios in the caches folder, and it will not be backed up in iTunes. This is true of both the current iOS4 and the new iOS5 soon to be released. With the iCloud feature in iOS5, storing folios in the Documents folder is undesirable.
To comply with Apple's guidelines, please rebuild your multi-folio viewer app using the v15 version, and submit your update app to Apple. Note that you do not need to update your folio tools. The v15 viewer is backwards compatible with all folios created with previous tools.
Once Apple approves your viewer app update and customers update the app on their devices, all folios they've downloaded are moved automatically from the Documents folder to the caches folder. These folios remain in the caches folder until customers archive their folios or update the iOS. If your customers update to iOS5 and then update your viewer app, they will not have to re-download any folios. If they update your viewer app and then install iOS5, they'll have to re-download their folios.

That announcement about the new tools expired after a week. If you want to install the new tools, you can click the links from the Dashboard, from the adobe.com/downloads page, or from the help topic about installing tools.
We're working on a way to make announcements and notifications appear on the Dashboard, but it hasn't been implemented yet.

On 6.1.3/6 it never did this , also on every iOS 7 verison , my iPod battery percent counter become less accerate
It moving up and down everytime on 6.1.3/6 it never did this

% battery on an iPod is not accurate. Apple does not provide that display. Fluctuatios in % battery are normal with load changes.
    For the lag:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • LR Mobile sync caused iPad mini to crash continuously and reboot with blue screen?

    Hi,
I've been using LR Mobile on my iPad Mini (Retina) for quite sometime now without any issues. It worked flawlessly, until yesterday.
I'm not sure whether this problem was caused by the LR Mobile app or not but this was my experience.
Begin syncing a LR Catalog file (760 photos, needed 1.6 GB of space on my iPad). Sync and download was in progress. (I enabled the offline edit option).
After like 10 minutes, I checked my iPad to see the sync status and it crashed and restarted by itself.
After it booted, I opened LR Mobile and bang.... it crashed again.
This happened several times and I also begin to get the blue screen of death on the iPad.
Finally, it booted properly and I opened LRM and begin to re-sync. Things went smoothly.
I had to cancel the sync (around 650 photos were synced) as I had to rush to work and the sync process was taking too long (it took me like 3 hours to sync the 650 photos as the iPad would go into sleep and the sync process would stop. Plus the iPad was crashing and rebooting in between the sync process and caused a loss of time).
Anyhow, on the way to work I opened LRM and begin working on the images. Everything seemed fine.
Just an hour ago, when I unlocked my iPad and wanted to work on the images, it crashed again. This time it went in a reboot cycle and the screen went bonkers - got the blue screen, and weird visual distortions of the apple logo, and other unusual visual effects begin to occur. I thought the iPad was gone for, as it went off and wouldn't even restart. (I even tried doing a hard reset - Home + Sleep/Wake buttons).
Finally when it booted and restarted on its own, I immediately deleted the LR Mobile app and restarted the iPad.
It's been like 2 hours now and the iPad's working fine.
Did anyone experience similar issues like this? Or is it just me
I feel very annoyed because after waiting for hours for my catalog to sync, I had to delete the app and lost all my synced photos
Can the Adobe LRM team please clarify if this could have been cause by the LRM app?
I've been using LRM for a long time and never encountered such a problem. Could it be because the app required around 1.6 GB of space on the iPad and they sync/download process was taking like forever to get done. ( I had plenty of free space on my iPad. Had like 5.6 GB free on it).
Any help and advise would be truly appreciated

    Hi,
Lightroom mobile should not be causing any iPad crashers, the issue with the crashing LrM is a known issue.
What would help would be if you can collect logs from your tablet and send them privately to me.
Only then we can know for sure if it's really caused by LrMobile.
We would need all your logs that you can find under these folders that are close to the date and time when your device restarted.
    OSX: /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/DeviceName/
    Windows: C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\DeviceName\
Btw you need to sync with iTunes to see them.
    thanks,
    Ignacio

  • IPhone 4s heats up and drains battery quickly after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2

Last Sunday i.e. on 14-Dec-2014 i upgraded my iPhone 4S (WiFI + 3G, 64GB) to iOS 8.1.2. Since then my iPhone's battery has started to drain out abnormally fast (it doesn't even last an hour after charging it fully to 100%) and the phone even heats up simultaneously. When checked under Settings> Usage> Battery Usage, i found the app-wise usage of battery like this: Phone (Audio) 36%, WhatsApp-24%, Home & Lock Scree-17%, Settings-7%, Messages-5%, Mail-4%, TOI-2%, Conatact-2%, and rest few apps 1% each. Prior to upgrading the iOS to 8.1.2, the battery life of my iPhone was normal: i just had to recharge once in 24 hours with normal usage of the phone. Could anybody help me to fix the problem? Thanks in advance. -BBS Ijam, GTK/SKM/171214

I think iPhone 4s is oLd now we need to update our as I will have to change my battery from repair center maybe this will solve the problem the new iOS are heavy for our phones.
*** I also have extra internal battery cover for my iPhone. I can't go out without that cover because my iPhone battery drain so fast from 100% it will be maybe 60 % so fast that is so annoying.
Long story short my iPhone is screwed up I think I don't trust my iPhone battery anymore.

  • Conduit plugin causes my pc to crash constantly. What can I do to stop this?

One out of three times my pc won't load when starting. The little circle appears that shows me something is going on, but then absolutely nothing happens, the screens goes black and the keyboard doesn't work. Eventually (after 5 minutes or so) a window will pop up telling me that conduit plug in is still working. On some occasions another window will pop up and tell me, that windows firewall and my security software are turned off. So in a nutshell: I don't know what this plug in is all about, but it only seems to cause damage on my computer. Where do I find it and how can I disable it? Thanks for your help:-)

You can disable this plugin in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins or possibly uninstall.

  • Adobe Contribute Plug-In Causes Outlook 2013 to crash, close and reopen

I have Adobe Contribute 5 running on a Windows 7 Professional laptop system with Office 2013. Whenever I reboot, and open Outlook 213, after a while Outlook 2013 closes and has to reopen, and then disables the Contribute plug-in, which appears to be the culprit. I'd like to simply disable the Contribute plug-in on Outlook permanently, but can't figure out how to do so, it always tries to reactiviate each time I reboot (which happens often since this is a laptop). Anyone have this probblem and solve it? Thanks.

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
To disable the Contribute plugin from Microsoft Outlook 2013 you need to click on File menu then choose options from it.
    FIle>Options>Add-Ins>
Then Click on Go button from Manage com Add-ins .
Highlight the Contribute plugin from the list and remove it .
Please see the screenshot as mentioned below.

  • Service reads data but Bpel process does not start

i have a very simple project. I have db2(as400) adapter and it reads data, i will receive data, transfom and send to oracle database. I deployed the project successfuly but when instance start i see the service reads the data but bpel process does not start and and there is no error. At the flow chart there is only readAS400 partnerlink, there is no bpelprocess. In the partnerlink i am usin polling, i read the data's with 1 and update to 2. It reads but dont update to 2.
In deploy step and when instance starts there is no errors. But when i am deploying i get a warning but i dont know it's related with this situation.
(Warning: property "activationAgent.readAs400.className" may not be understood by BPEL component BPELProcessEqpType - it will likely be ignored.)
Do you have any suggestion ? Thanks in advance.

check the recovery console, the bpel process possibly is going into manual recovery,
Another thing you might wanna try is using checkpoints in your process..
also, instead of getting the db adapter to instantiate the process, try a simpler process just to see if the db adapter is working or not..
A normal process, which you manually instantiate from em console, with the db adapter in it after the recevie activity

  • Heating Up & Draining battery fast on iPhone 5s after iOS 7.1 update

    Hi,
I updated my iPhone 5s 64GB to iOS 7.1 & it's heating up and draining battery so fast not to mention when I charge it , it takes longer time to charge!
I didn't have this issue before on the previous version. I tried restoring my iPhone two times & also rebooting my iPhone five times, but nothing works!
I've looked in other complaints and some of them suggested to switch off background app refresh and locations!
I didn't have this issue before and I won't turn them off because if the problem because of it then I should experience the same problem on the previous version and why would I turn it off? So what's the purpose of the phone?
My wife, my sister, my brother & my mom they got an iPhone 5 and they don't experience this problem except me!
My iPad Air and my wife iPad Mini 2( Retina Display) and there is no problem with the iOS 7.1 .
I've looked in other websites and found that there are other people experiencing the same problem. Apple should fix this problem ASAP!
Is there anyone experiencing the same problem and what did he/she do to fix it incase he/she fixed it !

I don't have any issues with my 5S on 7.1
Have you actually taken your phone to the Apple store and have them look at it?
Even if you don't want to turn off background app refresh,  you should turn it off and see what the results are.
also you said you restored twice, did you restore as NEW?

My iPhone 5 has broken and is being replaced with a new iPhone tomorrow. However, My carrier (orange) will b picking up my broken iPhone and I am unsure how to secure the content and icloud data on the broken phone. Is there a way to disable the data held on it and ensure that if it is fixed, nobody can use/see my data and access my account?

    Hi Gazpan,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend using the steps in this article to back up your iPhone if possible:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
You may also find this advice helpful for your situation:
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661
If you no longer have your iOS device
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.
If you're unable to complete either of the above steps, you should change your Apple ID password. Changing your password won't remove any personal information that is cached on the device, but it will make sure that the new owner can't delete your information from iCloud.
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

  • After moving mailbox to iCloud, iOS mail not in date order

A few days ago I uploaded a large Hotmail mailbox to a new iCloud one.
I did this by using OSX (Mountain Lion) Mail selecting all mails in the Hotmail folder Inbox and dragging them to my newly created .ME iCloud mailbox.  I repeated this for the Sent mailbox
All worked great.  I now have all my 12,000 emails and attachments in iCloud.  Everything is in the correct order and when I open up iCloud on Safari my mails are correct there too.
When I open up mail on my iPad(3) or my iPhone 4s, the mails are in a bizarre order.  E.g. the first page will show me an email from yesterday, one from a couple of years ago.
If I do a search "Load More Messages" for any particular mail or sender, all the mails pop up in the search.  When I close the search, I get the same bizarre list of non date-ordered emails again.
I tried setting the phone/iPad to Fetch, Push, Manual.. all combinations to no avail.
I just tried a complete iPhone restore.  Same problem.
Next step I was going to delete/re-sign in my iOS account. Bit wary of deleting the iCloud account on the iOS devices at this stage as I'm worried I may delete cloud data as well as my iOS device data.  Maybe this is not the problem anyway.
    Any suggestions welcome!
    Thanks

Lets just call that a glitch.
I repeated the whole process (deleted iCloud mails first) and it works fine now

  • Injustice iCloud data corrupted, cannot restore on iOS

restoring injustice data from iCloud forces the app to crash. data on iCloud seems to be corrupted. after trailer is over the app crashes. i have in-app purchases so i am afraid of deleting the documents on my icloud. i never reach the game dashboard and see the iCloud icon to restore the data. the game however opens when i turn off iCloud documents for injustice in settings. so i am pretty sure the issue is related to icloud data and not the phone.
i contacted wb game support and all they said was turn off icloud, re-install app, reboot phone, turn on icloud ...... didn't help at all.
    can anyone help ?

it seemed to be a glitch in the system but the good news is, all your apps are still in the system, when you sign in with your apple ID and go to app store you will find all your apps under "purchased", the down side is that all your apps will be there including the ones that you once deleted of your phone, and you have to download them all again so better be in a wifi covered zone, the upside is that all the stored data will be there as well some how, for example when you download whatsapp you will find all your contacts and the old conversations still there. another upside is that after the update it freed up 5.5 GB of my memory space, although i still have all the apps and pictures, i guess it has to do with catch.
    hope this helps
