Ios numbers

I have a form I'm creating for my end users.  The form is on 1 sheet and data on the other.
I create a pop-up menu with the product IDs.  When I select a product id, it populates the cell of course.  Now, on my form I also have "Description" and "Price".
These 2 values reside on my Data sheet (Columns B, C) in table 1.  What Im trying to do is a vlookup on the product id selected from the pop-up menu, and in the next column, display its description and in the "next" column, display the price (both of which reside on the data sheet).  I tried doing an offset, but could not figure out how arrays work in this app.
=Vlookup(B25,Data::Table 1::B4:B20,Data::Table 1::C4:C20)
This is the formula Im attempting to use to get the description.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank yo
Terry

Please to the support site, manuals section and download the formula guide for iWork. Or look at the help available on every formula from within the program.
You will find that vlookups returns a single value from the lookup. Y are trying to pull back two values into one cell. The proper form would be (assuming the product I'd is column a and your values are in b and c)
In one cell (description I assume) =vlookup(B25,data::table1::a:c,2,false)
Just change the two to three for the price.

  • Is there a way to create a timestamp in iOS Numbers?

I would like a cell to automatically fill with the time that data is entered into another cell. Is this possible on Numbers for iPad?

Nevermind. After extensive searching it does not seem possible. But I did find out that there are "Today" and "Now" buttons on the data entry keypad in iOS numbers when entering a date, so that works just about as well.

Anyone know of a way to adjust the top and side MARGINS of a document printed from iOS numbers? The default margins are too wide. Need more working space.

    Open the document,
Tap the Tools icon (upper right).
    Tap Document Set up.
Drag the margins to the position you wish (the actual margin width sould display as you are doing this).

  • Using Apple IOS Numbers on my iPod Touch 4th gen, where would I find... ummm... let's say b200?

Using Apple IOS Numbers on my iPod Touch 4th gen,
where would I find... ummm... let's say b200??
I use the row numbers and column alphabet all the time, and yet they don't appear on the IOS5 version of Numbers.
This is kinda short-sighted, isn't it? On the desktop version they show up just by clicking on a cell.

Yeah, we in the real world call it stupid design.
I discovered a real stupid, stupid, stupid way of seeing the header columns and the row numbers. You need to select a cell, and double tap it and the keypad pops up, at the top of the keypad window is a black wide tool button-bar with "42", "a clock symbol ", a "T" and an "="  The "42" stands for numbers, stars dollar signs, ±, etc. The "Clock symbol" is to put in days, hours, minutes... that sort of thing. The "T" is for words. AND the "=" is for formulas and stuff. HOWever, when you selct the "=" the column header (ABC...etc) and the Row numerators appear! Done so you CAN select certain column and rows to include those certain cells for calculations.
What a crappy design, right? Must be an engineer without any human interface design skills whatsoever who designed THIS Numbers for ios GUI... you have to hunt through crap to find the simplest of spreadsheet information. A real human interface designer would have made it easy option (for aesthetic reasons or "save space" Hah. Save space on a spreadsheet... why do you think they call them SPREADsheets anyway?).
And while we are on the Stupid, Engineer-Minded GUI, whose idea was to make you shake your ios device to "UNDO"?  There is plenty of space where the title "Spreedsheets"  and 3 toolbar buttons are located at the top of the spreadsheet workspace for a simple ø <--(circle with a line symbol)
This Numbers for IOS needs a big retooling.

  • Trying to figure out easiest formula to use in iOS Numbers

To all you smart function Guru's. Looking for help to see if this can be done.
All help will be greatly appreciated here. Using Numbers on the iPad.
My situation. In the "Pick Up" box I select a location from a drop down, it then puts in a numerical figure in the "HOE 1" box from the HOE Chart. (Easy part).
Now once I "Pick Up" I then select a "Drop Off" location (it will only be a few different locations) and want that to pick a numerical figure, depending on "Pick Up" and "Drop Off" location selected, from the HOE Chart and input the numerical value into HOE 2 box. This is the problem. I want it to look also at the "Pick Up" location to select the correct altitude for the "drop off". i.e. I depart my standard location and I pick up from  Citrus Mem Hosp and I am going to Shands (as in  the picture) I need it to select the Altitude from the HOE Chart that corresponds to the Drop Off leg (HOE 2).
Pick Up Location selects from B Column (HOE Chart) HOE 1 altitude is picked from D column (HOE Chart).
Drop Off HOE 2 would be picked from E, F or G Columns (F & G not completed yet) of the HOE Chart.
I am not a novice in using Excel or charts but am a novice when it comes to complex functions. Please spell out some of the function with your reply.
Again ALL Help is greatly appreciated.

    Wayne,
Thanks for helping and I think you are on the right track. The formula works in iOS Numbers with a little tweaking with 1 problem. Why Apple can have the programs work the same is beyond me but hey, I am a Windows guy so I won't complain.
The problem is that, and its probably my fault in the way I asked. I need the Drop Off (Table "Location" B2) to select from the HOE Chart either Columns E, F, or G (possibly an H in the future) of the Pickup Locations ROW (Highlighted in Blue for this example)
    example.
I leave my location (always the same) and go to Pickup Location = Citrus Mem Hosp. HOE 1 gives me altitude from highlighted Row + Column D (HOE Chart).
Now the complex part (to me)
I depart Citrus Mem Hosp (pick up location) and I am going to Shands (Column E (HOE Chart)) so I select that from my drop down list in "Drop Off" location(location table), I need HOE 2 (hoe table) box to give me the Altitude for Row (Citrus Mem Hosp) + Column E (Shands Column). If I select Orlando or Tampa Columns I would need it to select that altitude for the same Row.
I hope this explains it a little better and the pictures outline it a little more.
Your equation selected (once I input the correct Hospital name in my Drop off Location list) the altitude as if I was going from that location to GNV (Shands).
I hope this can be done as it would make our lives a lot easier and help us get in the air quicker.
Again Thank you for your help and time.
P.S. We just moved to Florida from Corpus Christi. Been up in your parts quite a few times.

  • IOS Numbers and Blank Cells

I am a teacher trying to use an iPad with iOS Numbers as a mobile gradebook.
One issue I have is making a blank cell not count in sums and averages. When I enter a new assignment, the student automatically gets a zero until I enter his or her actual grade, which negatively and unfairly affects his or her averages.
Is there a way to skip a blank cell in sums and averages instead of having it automatically count as a zero?
I also have Numbers on a laptop (if that helps).

    Hi,
Thanks for visiting our forum and sharing your solution. It'll benefit to other communicators.

  • Can iOS Numbers copy formulas when adding new rows?

iOS Numbers table add row is not copying previous cell formulas. Is this supported or not?
I have a table with lots of columns and all of them have formulas. When I click at the lower left of the table to add a row, none of the new cells have the formulas. I have to manually go through every column and copy the formulas to the new row.
This is not very practical if you're planning to use Numbers on the go with an iPad. In my case, I have to quickly get a new row ready as needed. I was hoping there is a preference setting somewhere like "copy formulas when adding new row".

I had the same issue with the added twist that I wanted to reference the created cells in formulas in other sheets. This is what works for me:
I use a form to enter data. The referenced sheet is set up like this:
1     Name     Date     ServPayment    SalesPayment     Total
    2     Week1                                                                 =sum (ServPayment,SalesPayment)
    3                                                                                =sum (ServPayment,SalesPayment)
    4     TotWeek1                                                            =sum (Total2,Total3)
"Total" sums the 2 Payments, TotWeek1 sums the totals.
In the entry form I never add data to the empty line. In this example, I would start at "Week1" and tap the "+" to add a new form. This creates the line in the referenced sheet with my formulas. As I continue, I always start at the last entry I have made and tap "+".
When I create a line that does not have the formula on either side, I do not get the formula.
    Hope this helps.

Everytime i tried it ,,,every pages/sheet lays in the pdf-file..

  • IOS Numbers - How do I show an number as a duration?

Probably a simple question but here's my issue. 12km at 11kmph = 1.09 hours - how do I display this as a duration in ios numbers. Tried changing the cell format to duration, that doesn't work. It changes very breifly to duration and then immediateloy changes back to 1.09.  The cell displaying the 1.09 is a formula (A/B) Please help - am new to Numbers.

the only way i could get it to display as to place the equation in the "hours" argument of the Duration Function...
=DURATION(0,0,B2/C2,0,0,0)   (assuming B2 has km and C2 has kph)
Where the arguments are, in order, DURATION(weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, miliseconds)
Since we know our calucaltion (km/kph) will result in a result in hours, we place the actual formula in the hours argumetn place.
12/11 gives you 1.090909090909 which will give you 1h 5m 27s, to restrict it to what you probably saw (1h 5m 24s) you just place a round around your calc in the hours position like this to round to 1.09:
    =Duration(0,0,round(B2/C2,2),0,0,0)
    Hope this helps

  • IOS Numbers crashes very time I try to use "Help" for a function

On both my iPad and iPhone (both at latest iOs level) every time I touch the "i" to get information about a function on Numbers the app crashes.
Anyone one else experiencing this or know a fix?
II've tried closing the app, restarting powering off and restarting the devices with no result.

Generally, you are more likely to get an answer if you post in the iWork for iOS forum at

     Cheers, Tom
BTW - Your profile shows you are using iOS 6. That's not the latest iOS version.

  • Can't open an iOS Numbers file

iOS apps are now updated automatically. That's fine. But when I try to open a file on my Mac that was updated on the iPad, it tells me I need the latest version of Numbers. I don't want to spend $20 on such a low rated application. Is there anyway to be able to open that file on my Mac short of having to pay the money or retype it in?
I stay with the iPad because of the vaunted Apple "ecosystem." but if this means I have to pay money for things I don't want just to get the ecosystem to work, I feel really ripped off. The Numbers page in the App store says the app is installed, but it's a 2.x version not 3.0. It doesn't indicate any way to buy or update to the new version.

    Hi Susan,
If you have the old Numbers 2.3 on your Mac you can download Numbers 3.0 for free from the Mac App Store. It's a free upgrade. Maybe you can try logging out of the Mac App Store and logging back in and see if shows Numbers 3.0 as a free download. It should.
After the download Numbers 3.0 does not replace the old version of Numbers. You're getting a new free app but still keeping the old. After the download, Numbers 3.0 will be in your Applications folder and Numbers 2.3 will be in a subfolder with Applications named iWork '09 or similar. You can run them both at the same time.
If you've worked on a document in iOS or Numbers 3.0 you can File>Export to..>Numbers '09 from the menu.
For me Numbers 3.0 is syncing very smoothly with the new Numbers on the iPad. It's a huge improvement from syncing the old Numbers and the old version on the iPad. That part of the ecosystem is finally coming together in a way that has already been very useful to me, and should get better over time. Now Apple just has to add back in some essential features to Numbers 3.

  • Can I create a Form in OS X Numbers the same way as I can in IOS Numbers?

I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and Numbers version 3.5.2. (2118). I am not able to create forms although my spreadsheet has one header row.
Spreadsheets stored in ICloud for I have been able to create A Form using Numbers for IOS, do not show the Forms when open in Numbers for OS X.
This seems inconsistent to me. Does anyone have encountered the same problem?

Thank you for getting back to me Morgan.
    I read in another forum:
There's a handy piece of software from CoffeeCup Software called "Web Form Builder". It's pretty affordable and easy to use and it can be hosted on the server of your choice provided that server uses an up-to-date PHP script.
This is what I have been using....but I would rather not have to deal with a third party form builder at all.
    Do you reccommend this?

  • Search in "forms" and other important features in iOs Numbers

Hi, this Numbers is very great!! But there are 3 important features to add in "forms".
    1. It's really important the possibility to search in a "form" and not only in spreadsheet. I don't know why they don't add this feature....
    2. The possibility to start a new paragraph (to indent a new line with "enter" button) also in "form" and not only in spreadsheet...
    3. Possibility to input the excactly number of record that I want to watch in form.
Thanks...there's someone that knows how to do these 3 things?

    August,
Since you're talking about Forms, you must be using the iOS version of Numbers. There's a discussion area specific to the iOS version here: https://discussions.apple.com/community/app_store/iwork_for_ios

  • Standard Deviation in iOS Numbers

Hi! I want to know how to find standard deviation in numbers on iOS.

    Dear lwo,
You can add two more channels.
    One with mittelwert+standardabweichung/2
    and one with mittelwert-standardabweichung/2 .
Then configure them to show only symbols and no line.
Color them red and choose a cross as symbol.
Be sure, the mittelwert channel is the first one in the array,
or the bars will hide the crosses.
    Best regards,
