IOS Simulator FB 4.7

Me
FlashBuilder 4.7 Premium
Flex SDK 4.6.0 w/ Air 3.5 overlayed
Mac OS X 10.8.2
I'm trying to run a small app from one of the FeathersUI tutorials. It runs fine on the Air Simulator, but once I try to run it on the iOS Simulator I get:
Error occurred while packaging the application:

I've read several different forums on Adobe and I see suggestions to remove Java 7 in favor of Java 6 (this isn't really a solution). I see to overlay Air SDK 3.4+ because Flex SDK 4.6 that comes with FB 4.7 is using Air 3.1. This didn't work.

I had to overlay the 3.5 Air SDK over 2 locations in the FB 4.7 app.
/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder4.7/sdks/4.6.0 - this was so that my projects all have 4.6.0 + 3.5 Air. Then I overlayed
/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.7/eclipse/plugins/com.adobe.flash.compiler_4.7.0.349722/AIRSDK - This is where the tools compile and cause the main problem.
I hope this helps you.

  • Is there a way to back up data from the ios simulator

I have an Ipad app and I want to see if you can back up the data. Is there a way you can do this using the ios simulator and loading all of the data that you have on it onto the computer then back onto the ios simulator.
I am using an sqlite database to store my data and I have the app loaded onto an ipad

If you want to back up the data for purposes of your development, see:
    http://www.raywenderlich.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75
If you want to test backup of your app so that you know if it works for users, I don't believe that's possible. You'll probably need to use real hardware. But you can ask in the developer forums available either in the Communities or in your iOS Developer Program account and see if someone knows a workaround.
    Regards.

  • Hi, I recently upgraded my xcode to 5.1, my project is running well in ios 7.0,6.0, But in ios 7.1 i'm getting error like"iOS Simulator failed to install the application". Can anybody please suggest the solution for it.

My project is not running in ios 7.1 simulator i'm getting error like "iOS Simulator failed to install the application". Please suggest a solution for it.

We aren't Apple, just users like you. Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Do I need to pay $99/year per employee just to test web pages on IOS simulator?

Hi there, I run a small web development shop with 5 employees. We all bought Xcode through the app store and have been using the iOS simulator to test web pages and troubleshoot problems with our customers sites on iPhones and iPads.
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion, and it seems I lost my iOS simulator.  I tried to install it through XCode again, and it says I need a developer account, which is $99/year.
We don't develop apps, we just use the simulator to view websites locally and on the web.  Does this mean if I want all of my employees to be able to just simply use the simulator to view web pages, that I have to pay $500 per year to Apple?  Am I missing something here?  Why could we use the simulator's basic features for free under Snow Leopard, but not under Mountain Lion with the new version of the simulator?
Please tell me I'm an idiot and am just missing something about how to install it or configure it.  Thanks so much for your help!

See, I am an idiot.  It was right there.  Somehow I think Alfred lost how to launch the simulator in the update to Mountain Lion. Since I couldn't launch it like I used to, I dug around until I found the Preferences > Downloads screen and had the option to install "iOS 5.0 Simulator" which is when I was prompted to get a developer license.
I never found the Xcode > Open Developer Tool method of locating it.
Anyway, thanks so much for your time!

  • Flash CC 2014 14.1.0.96 Crashing on attempt to debug in iOS Simulator

Just like the title says, Flash CC 2014 14.1.0.96 is completely crashing every time I try and debug my project in the iOS simulator via the Debug > Debug Movie > On iOS Simulator command. I have XCode version 6.1 installed. The simulator never opens - Flash crashes while the "Publishing..." progress bar is showing, after about 5 seconds.
I've tried the following iOS Simulator SDK paths in the Air 14.0 for iOS Publish settings:
    /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SD Ks/iPhoneSimulator.sdk/
    and
    /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SD Ks/iPhoneSimulator8.1.sdk/
But both cause Flash CC 2014 to crash completely.
I should note that Publishing directly to my iPad works properly. Flash only crashes when trying to debug in the simulator.
The crash generates a rather lengthy error report. Here's the top part of it:

  • XCode 5.1 updated and now I can't debug AIR apps on iOS Simulator anymore

Today XCode updated itself to version 5.1, with new iOS 7.1 platform support. It updated itself without asking permission, and now I can't run my AIR apps on the iOS simulator anymore. All my apps fail with the following error:

I use AIR SDK 4.0.1628 (the latest version according to the SDK download page today), and it doesn't make a difference if I choose another simulator version (7.0 and 6.1 fail the same way).
I'm developing in Flash Builder 4.7, on OS X 10.9.2
Any ideas of how to fix this? Will using the AIR 13 beta help?
    Thanks, Frank

Thanks for the steer Jason that worked,
So that would be Apache Flex 4.12 using Flex installer 2.7 will bring the same benefits of AIR SDK for Flex 13...... I basically have to use an installer from a third party to make the commercial product I pay for work to solve the precise problem its sold as solving.
It's like buying a *******' drill you have to put together yourself.
I'm gonna get this build finished, then sneak into Flash Builders room while it's having a sleep after a big dinner and smother it with a pillow. It's the kindest thing to do. Ha!
    @DavidDragon,
    Follow these steps:

However just make sure you use the latest version [4.12.0]

  • Can't launch application on iOS simulator with Flash Pro CC

Hi! What am I doing wrong?
    I have installed:
    MacOS 10.9.2,
    Xcode Version 5.1 (5B130a),
    Adobe AIR 13.0.0.64 for iOS,
    iPhoneSimulator7.1.sdk,

I set the path to iPhone simulator sdk in application settings:
    "Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator7.1.sdk"
I set the path to productStore.ane file in ActionScript settings, but I dont use it in the project.
I have locked buttons 'Debug>Debug movie>On iOS Simulator' and 'Controll>Test movie>On iOS Simulator'
After publishing I have the following message "The application has been successfully published.", but iOS simulator does not start.
I hope very much for your help.
    Thanks!

Same problem here. I even reinstalled Xcode and the iOS SDK (now 8).
If I change the path from what I think it must be to:
    .....Xcode > Contents > Applications > iOS Simulator.app
I get an  ERROR message telling: SDK is missing GPL component
The provided path points to llvm-gcc

  • Ios simulator cannot find resource file in avTouch sample app.

Hi. I am trying to run the sample project avTouch in the iOS Simulator, and it cannot find the sound resource file sample. It compiles OK, launches, and when I click the Play button, it gives these errors in the iOS Simulator:
2011-08-28 14:16:17.454 avTouch[962:6c03] Error '!dat' trying to set the (null) audio devices' sample rate
    2011-08-28 14:16:31.057 avTouch[962:207] Could not play file://localhost/Users/jonesbb/Library/Application%20Support/iPhone%20Simulator /4.3.2/Applications/20290DEF-8855-41E2-92D5-6CF06D6D58F4/avTouch.app/sample.m4a
The file does exist at that location, and I can open it and play it in QuickTime.  I wonder if the path to that location may be the problem.  Is it supposed to use "%20" instead of spaces in the path?  Does the system resolve them into spaces?
I am using MacOS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro, XCode 4.0.2, and compiling for iPhone 4.3 simulator.
I've programmed a long time in other IDEs, but I'm new to XCode and all the libraries, so I'm probably missing something obvious here.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Additional info.  The app runs and displays the name of the sound file, and also displays the duration of the sound, so I think it is loading the file OK.  It gives the problem when I hit play.  I have a break point in this method, at [p play] below, and it gives the first error at that point.  The second error message is just reporting the result of the first error:
    -(void)startPlaybackForPlayer:(AVAudioPlayer*)p
        if ([p play])
            [self updateViewForPlayerState:p];
        else
            NSLog(@"Could not play %@\n", p.url);

  • Debug/Run for iOS simulator and Retina iPad

Even in the latest beta 2 releates, the dropdown for "Default Device" includes "iPad", "iPhone", "iPhone (Retina)" but does not include "iPad Retina".  Seems like adding the "iPad Retina" woud be a matter of passing the correct flag to the iOS Simulator and should be quick and easy?  When can we expect this?

    Hi ,
Its a valid request. Please log an Enhancement request using the below link.
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/login.jsp
Meanwhile you can try this workaround:
    1.Open iOS simulator.
2.Choose Hardware->device from iOS simualator menu to the device on which you want to test your application.
3.Launch your application on iOS simulator from the Flash Builder.(Selecting the device on Flash Builder has no effect if the simulator is already running).
    Thanks,

  • Video Playback On IOS Simulator

    Hello,
I am using StageVideo in my app to play video, and it is working fine on the iPad, but I was just wondering if it is not supported in the IOS Simulator. I can hear the video playing, but do not see it.
    thx

I know that Starling things work very slowly in the Simulator, so maybe we don't get normal access to Stage3D or StageVideo.

  • Testing adobe air applications with fake apple certificate in iOS simulator running in a hackintosh

I can compile an Adobe Air application on windows with a fake apple certificate. Can I test this application in iOS Simulator running on a hackintosh? Or is the simulator blocking testing of IPA outside from XCode ie: it's not a standalone simulator for IPA files. Are there any affordable web service for testing IPA with a true emulator or real device? I'm asking this because Flash Builder doesn't provide a true simulator, it lacks essential API functions such as NativeWindow.

    Hello,
thanksk so far. I can now create an ANE, hopefully it is correct...
Now, while trying to use it in my mobile application, calling the Constructor of my SWC interface > call initNativeExtension() I get an:
Type Error #1009 cannot access a property or method of a null object reference
It seems that my code cannot load the ANE because I cannot instatiate the extension object.
    Can you help me ?

  • Can't Debug On iOS Simulator Anymore... Why Did You Break It Adobe?

I see lots of posts on this subject, and I am experiencing the same issue. I fail to see why this change in the SDK was put forth, as it has made development a real pain for iOS. In the AIR SDK 4.0 this worked fine. According to the new method, we are supposed to use an environment variable to control which simulator we want to debug in, but this does not work either when multiple iOS SDKs are installed. If this can be controlled by an environment variable, then why can't it be controlled by a command line option to adt? That would be a much more robust solution versus having to change your OS's environment every time you need to switch simulators.
Any response from development on why it is this way now?

    Thanks for reporting the issue.
At our end there is no problem when there are multiple iOS SDKs. We used the following commands:
    Package App :
    adt -package -target ipa-test-interpreter-simulator -storetype <type> -keystore < Certificates > -storepass < password > <.ipa>  <.xml>  <swf> -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator8.0.sdk/
    Install App :
adt -installApp -platform ios -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator8.0.sdk -device ios-simulator -package < ipa >
    Launch App :
    adt -launchApp -platform ios -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator8.0.sdk -device ios-simulator -appid <APP ID>
Could you please share the adt packaging, install and launch commands?
P.S: In case you are using SDK path as: -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator.sdk,
kindly use the SDK path containing the SDK version eg, If you want to use iOS 8.0 simulator use -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator8.0.sdk and in case you want to use iOS 7.1 simulator use -platformsdk /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator7.1.sdk

  • Can't change iOS Simulator device, AIR_IOS_SIMULATOR_DEVICE ignored

I cannot get the iOS Simulator app to launch as anything other than iPhone 5 when using AIR adt. I've tried changing the AIR_IOS_SIMULATOR_DEVICE environment variable to different values, but the Simulator always launches my app simulating an iPhone 5.
    I've tried the following:
    launchctl setenv AIR_IOS_SIMULATOR_DEVICE "iPad Retina"
    launchctl setenv AIR_IOS_SIMULATOR_DEVICE "iPhone 6"
I confirmed that the setting is changed by testing:
    launchctl getenv AIR_IOS_SIMULATOR_DEVICE
Do I need to restart something or flush something?
I'm using AIR 15.0.0.289, Xcode 6.0.1, OS X 10.9.5. Project is a pure ActionScript project making heavy use of Stage3D/Starling, and I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 14 EAP IU-138.2210.3 (ouch that name hurts) as my development environment.

Please try restarting Terminal after setting environment as launchctl setenv AIR_IOS_SIMULATOR_DEVICE "iPad Retina" .
Hope this will resolve your problem.
    Thanks
    Pravendra
