IOS virus

I need to know how to remove the redirect virus that affects iOS and redirects random links to filthy sites, including personal ad sites and streaming sites. It is a SERIOUS issue that needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. I have never jail broken this or any iOS device on my network, and have only had this iPad for a few weeks and it is infected. Researching this exploit on the Internet shows that it stems from the root user having a password that any device on the same network can exploit... This is a SERIOUS ISSUE and A COMMON ISSUE that hundreds of people have. Tis needs to be addressed immediately. Please report here If you notice even a momentary redirect in safari or any other app, as it's not limited to just the browser. If you have ever seen your iOS device randomly restart and you thought it was a crash, that is how the exploit works.
This is a video of the exploit/virus in another form.. Now it doesn't block search results from coming up... I know that it is in iOS because it happens in sites that I manage, and random sites/apps constantly. Please acknowledge and fix this exploit IMMEDIATELY.

I've already wiped this iPad and completely restored it from a backup, and set it up as a new device as well. This continues to be infected and there is no way I can remove it.

There are no "documented" viruses... This is an exploit that is not limited to the safari browser. My router is more secure than fort knox and doesn't allow external ip access at all, and this is happening on a device that has only been used for a few days... I've wiped to try and get rid of it and only visited a few sites that are built with open-source software to avoid exposing this thing to ANY sites (including *****). I use my ISPs DNS servers (including Verizons 3G service) and this only happens on this device... I don't install any apps that don't come from reputable sources on the app store either.. I have taken extraneous precautions to avoid this crap, and having many years of experience in the tech support/IT industry keeps me from not knowing the basics of any computing device.. At worst, this is an exploit that gets unsigned code running on iOS, and at best is multiple ISPs DNS server being compromised... This happens on 3G data networks as well, so it's not my network, it is this device. I hope others are smart enough to realize when to happens to their iOS devices, and don't pass it off as a "pop up"... Any os is vulnerable to attack, and iOS is no exception.

  • Can iphone ios get virus and will system restore fix it

there has being discussions and news stating that there few ios viruses lurking in the internet, I was wondering if Iphone ios can get virus and if it can, will system restore solve the problem
Im suspicious because I went to a site that i cant remember and it took a long time to load, then was a aadvertisement that look like a app introduction in app store, i accidenally clicked the download button so i quickly closed the window after 2 seconds of loading.
    Thankyou for your support
Also bonus question-please tell me why cant i start the Game Total war battles:shogun with out an internet connection, with out it will crush

There are no known viruses that can affect or infect a non-jailbroken iOS device.  If it has not been jailbroken you cannot alter or write to the operating system.  So that should not be a worry for you.
There are websites that have some nasty behavior and will try and capture information or leave things like cookies behind that affect your web browser.  With iOS, again, there isn't much to worry about.  And stopping a download before it finished should leave you in good condition.
You can always, if things get strange, restore your system from a clean backup if you have backed up to iCloud or iTunes on a computer.  You can go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Settings which will leaver your apps intact but clear your settings, which you will have to go back and make sure you have your WiFi, etc set correctly, but that isn't necessary unless you start seeing a lot of strange behavior.
Clean up operation easily by doing a reboot - hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appears.
The bonus question - I don't do gaming so cannot offer any help with that issue.

  • I suspect my ipad has a virus what can be done?

We received a link from an email that suggested going to a webpage.  We went to the page and nothing seemed to be wrong.  Now the IPAD seems to be randomly going to youtube sites.
is there something that can be done to isolate the issue or should I reset my IPAD to factory settings and start over?

Your iPad almost certainly does not have a virus; there have been no iOS viruses even hinted that I've seen, much less released in the wild unless your iPad has been jailbroken.
More likely either there's a cache file or cookie causing the issue or there's been DNS poisioning in your WiFi router (unlikely but not impossible). Before you restore the iPad, try just clearing the Safari cache and cookies (in the Settings -> Safari area) and if that doesn't help try a reset of the network settings (Settings -> General -> Reset Network Settings).
    Hope this helps.

  • Can the ipad 2 get a virus?

can the ipad 2 get a virus?

I'm not aware that there are currently any iOS viruses. There are no anti-virus app for the iPad as far as I know, the closest being VirusBarrier which is designed to stop the potential transfer of viruses/malware back to your computer from PDFs etc when you sync/copy content back to your computer

  • IPad 2 Redirect Virus?

My iPad 2 has recently started redirecting me from known and trusted websites, through to an advert definitely not associated with the websites I'm directed from.
I've cleared the history, internet data and restarted the iPad, but it is still happening.
The only option left would be to completely wipe the iPad (as I haven't got a backup available on iTunes). I'm hesitant to do this however as this seems a backward way of fixing the issue. Also, as I'm not sure how I got this malware, there's a chance of it happening again.
Is there any other way to stop these issues?
I've read a number of replies to similar topics, but they mainly seem to be from people who've never had the issue saying it's impossible for an iPad to get a virus. The most open minded ones seem to suggest a problem with the router and not the iPad itself, however I've been experiencing this issue over both 3G and WiFi.
It seems as well that this issue has been occuring since iOS 5 (from reading similar threads), however I'm experiencing this on iOS 6, so it doesn't seem as if this loophole has been fixed.
Is Apple aware of this issue? And is there an easier way to fix this than to completely wipe the iPad?

It'll be said to the device's dying day that iPads can't get viruses. And that's using hte strict definition of a virus being a malicious program that propogates itself across the operating system and infects program after program.
And in that, they're right. there is no known iOS virus in the definition of a virus. The 'sandbox' nature of the ipad, where there is no overall file manager system and no way for apps to talk to each other without your interaction (you sending files between apps) prevents this.
That said, it can be infected with malware in the form of a poorly screened app or is vulnerable to webpage hacks (people that hack google to give you good looking results that, if you look at the link, all resolve to russia or china). You can click on malicious links in e-mails and be sent to bad sites even if the bad programs there likely can't run (most viruses are .exe files which simply will not run on the iOS)
It can also be vulnerable to adware tied to a free app.
have you installed any new free apps lately? Or clicked on any online ads?
Have you tried to delete any and all Safari settings? Remove any cookie that may be lurking in there that's sending you the redirect?
It is possible that your router or maybe even your ISP provider's system has been compromised. Does your issue happen no matter where you are? Try turning off your 3G and finding some different wifi to access, does the issue replicate itself? If so, then it may be your device. But if you access the net through a new source and don't see the redirect, then the problem is likely with a router or server that's beyond your immediate control.

What you got is a scam message trying to get you to pay for a removal service. The scammer probably doesn't even know you have an iOS device.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...

    Restoring  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...

  • Is it safe to download the new version iOS6?

Is it safe to download the new version iOS6 to ipad3?

Define Safe? It is virus free since there are no iOS viruses. Will your iPad work OK? Mine works fine with iOS 6.
What you should do anytime that you update the device is to transfer purchases from the iPad into iTunes - File>Transfer Purchases - and you should backup the iPad as well. When you update the update the device, if something goes wrong, you can restore from the backup.
If you have any other important files, you may want to transfer them to your computer as well, prior to the update.
    Transfer purchases.

  • Why must I sync Apps on the iTunes ?

Let's face the fact that putting iOS apps on a PC is utterly useless.
So why do I get dire warning that if I don't transfer those apps to my computer, iTunes will delete them all from my ipad 2?
What can I expect windows to do with 15GB+ worth of iOS apps? They will just sit on my computer wasting space.
Why would I want to copy 15GB+ of apps to my PC when I can re-download them anytime from app-store directly from ipad?
I have ony 120GB of hard disk space. Windows 7 and other programs and games took away 50GB++++ and personal data ate up 30GB (and growing)++++
and now iTunes want 15GB+ of nothingness on my PC?
Is there a way for me NOT to sync apps?
I just want to sync music and photos and that's all ..no apps syncing please apple please.
    This is what happened:
I just got a brand new HP laptop
then I install iTunes, hoping to sync some photos
then I plugged in my ipad 2
and ... I got a dire message saying that I have to "transfer" those apps to my PC otherwise all apps on my ipad are gonna get wiped like as if Hitler was reborn as a iOS virus and he's gonna infiltrate my ipad and burn the crap out of every apps I have in ipad.
Someone please help me. This is so frustrating. Should I jump Apple luxury cruise ship and swim to the Andriod island?
I asked SIRI "Can I choose not to sync apps with iTunes"
    She didn't understnad. Nice apple.

Nope I'm using iOS 5.0.1. The tag line get the information from my ipad when it was first bought. I have since updated the iOS.
And I'm sure big names app makers will alway update temselves so their apps would work on new iOS.
"there is no guarantee that apps will remain in the app store for you to re-download them"
    How can that be??
I am under the impression that Apple has this feature in iTunes store called "purchased history"
There is no longer a need back up iOS app in PC
It's like .... putting pieces of mac OSX programs in a windows PC. What's the point? I really reallyyyy don't get it. And there is no option to NOT sync the apps?
Yes I can see the need to back up photos and documents but apps? ..I don't think so.
Apple is wasting billions of hard disk space around the world.
I'm starting to hate iTunes. It's forcing me ,a customer, to do what it want me to do ):

  • Does anyone know of any security protection for the IPad?

Does anyone know of a security protection for the IPad?

Yes, first get a good case for it to protect it from the elements, dropping, etc.
Next, be sure to set up your free Find My iPad application for it in case it is lost or stolen.
When carrying it around with you keep your eye on it at all times and beware of letting others walk away with it. They are very popular and stolen frequently.
P.S. There are no iOS viruses, malware, etc. so no antivirus, antispyware, etc. apps are available.

  • Third party application is disrupting my ios operating system for my ipad 2 . i believe it's a virus or malware.

third party application i mistakenly downloaded is disrupting my ios operating system . It is asking me for the serial number to my ipad 2 and to call a 800 number . What should i do ? My Ipad is messaging me to do this to solve the issue. I think it's some kind of virus or malware.

It's a Safari phishing scam. Just ignore it. Don't click on any links or call any telephone numbers. Quit Safari.

  • Is there any truth to the rumor that there is a virus attacking iphones in the form of an iOS update?

Is there any truth to the rumor that there is a virus attacking iphones in the form of an IOS update?

    Absolutely not.
There was a new piece of iOS malware discovered recently, but it, like all other known iOS malware, requires that the device be jailbroken. If your iOS device isn't jailbroken, there's no known malware capable of infecting it.

  • Is there anti virus programs available for IOS?

is there a virus scan programs for Mac ios?

Antivirus software will not work on ios as an onboard app.
Due to sandboxing, the AV software cant scan anything except the data in the app.
Add to that the fact there are no viruses for ios unless you jailbreak your iphone, it makes it pretty useless.
