Variables:
[1] mgmt.mib-2.interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifIndex.34 (Integer): 34

In IOS XR we are missing ifDescr

Thanks Joe.
This solves the problem.

  • MARS - IOS interface up down, AD securuty entries

Our MARS appliance is running V4.2.1. We have about 40 or 50 IOS switches sending their entries to it. We see interface up and down transitions all the time as expected.
It seems that for many of the entries in MARS, the interesting data, such as the actual port number that went up or down, is nowhere to be found. Am I simply drilling wrong?
We have the same problem with Windows Active Directory security entries - we can see user account changes, but not who made them or which account was changed.

    Seymour,
We see similar events on our MARS appliance too. We have nearly 300 switches logging to it now so you can imagine the up/down alerts that we have generated! You are correct that MARS does not provide complete information in the incident view. You are doing nothing incorrect. Keep in mind that the MARS appliance is aggregating a massive amount of security/system data and needs to normalize it to data fields that are most important when it comes to attack information. To view full messages keep in mind that you can view the "Raw Data" directly from the incident screen. In the case of interface up/down messages this would show you the exact port (it's found directly next to the "Reporting Device" name). Keep in mind that Cisco now has enchanced notifications using XML. This exported data contains the raw message that could be included as part of a notification like this:

  • WLC not sending AP up/down traps

    Hello guys,
I am running WLC 7.2.110.0 and i realise that the AP up/down traps are not being sent to my configured Management server.
The WLC is however able to send other traps such as client disconnect, security alert related and coverage alarm holes.
can anyone advise or provide any way to have these particular traps sent to a monitroing server? The AP up/down traps seem to me to be one of the most important traps on the CUWN but are not working in this case.
    thanks in advance.

You can try capturing traffic on the WLC port to make sure that the SNMP packets are being sent. Once you make sure they are sent then you can check the whole path to the management system to see where probably those packets are getting lost.
If the WLC is not sending the packets then it looks like a bug where the WLC should send the packets but it actually does not.

Just updated my 3GS to iOS 6 - it shut down after the install - then it showed a "connect to iTunes" icon.
iTunes said the phone was in recovery mode & needed to be restored. Clicked "restore" in iTunes & get "iTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone" - didnt work - came back to showing the "connect to iTunes" icon.
Have repeated the process twice now - same result - "connect to iTunes" icon displayed on the phone & iTunes says the phone is still in recovery mode

  • HT4623 will updating version 3.1.3 to ios 5.0 slow down my 3g?

Will updating version 3.1.3 to ios 5.0 slow down my 3g

If it is 3G, iOS 4.2.1 is end of line.
If it is 3GS you can't put iOS 5 on it. Now it gets iOS 6.1.3 and answer is No.

  • SInce updating my iphone 5S to ios 8, iTunes shuts down during the app sync process. Any ideas how to fix? I now have the newest version of itunes on my laptop and it still shuts down.

Since updating my iphone 5s software to ios 8, iTunes shuts down everytime in the app sync process. I have the most current version of Itunes on my laptop. Any ideas of how to fix?

I feel its more of my sync drivers for itunes/iphone not working if that makes sense. Its not my itunes that stops responding, its more of that if the phone syncs up it fails to anything further.
I've tried sync another iphone to the same itunes and windows autoplayer will allow the photos sorted on the iphone to be saved to the laptop but itunes won't even recongise the device is plugged in.
Although it will charge the battery

  • Interface goes down with mds9140

    Hi
I've a problem with both MDS 9140. The fc interface goes down and don't go up when I reboot a device connected to them with a fiber. To solved the problem I need to remove the gbic and plug it back again. I use the following version of software
    Software
    BIOS: version 1.0.8
    loader: version 1.1(2)
    kickstart: version 1.2(1a)
    system: version 1.2(1a)
    Fabrice

It is probably a software defect where if a port is up for over 248 days, Once link is lost, it will not come back w/o a shut/no shut or manual intervention as you describe. This issue is resolved in the 1.3.4b and above code. For a 91xx, this would be a disruptive upgrade. Or, simply issue a shut/no shut on an affected port and you'll be good for another 248 days.

  • Cisco 871W - VLAN-Interface = 'Up/Down'

    Hi,
I have configured our company's Cisco 871W per suggested configs found on the cisco web site, however, VLAN1, VLAN10 and VLAN20 interfaces won't come up (e.g. up/down) and it's preventing communication. • ACE 4710 SNMP false linkup/down trap notification?

We have two ACE4710 in a failover configuration with Software version A4(2.0). SNMP is setup and the receiver is able to receive SNMP traps.
The issue is we are receiving a linkDown trap notification at least once every other day, followed shortly by a linkUp notification a minute later. We have checked all layer 2 devices connected to the ACE and cannot see any evidence that any link actually disconnected. We experienced no traffic lost, but this could be because a couple of the ACE links are bundled. The trap notification does not actually indicate which interface changed status. All links are Gigabits, and there are no packet drops either on the ACE or the layer 2 switch. What could be causing this?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Matthew, apologies for the late reply, and thanks for getting back to me. Please find below the output on our SNMP receiver today. As you will see from the log timestamp the linkdown and linkup occurred within a minute which is typical. We get this issue at least once every other day!

  • How can I downgrade iOS 7.0.4 down to iOS 6.1.3? I know there is no Apple licensed way to do so, but can someone find a software that helps downgrade?????

I know there is no Apple licensed way to do so, but can someone find a software that helps downgrade?????
    Please help me.
Here is my list of things that suck about iOS 7:
-motion sickness (i know how to fix that, i already did)
    -buggy
    -glitching out during games
-apps shut down on me while i use them
-battery life (apple says) lasts for 48 hours. for me it lasts 2 hours
    -no way to downgrade
-terrible background choices (kinda lame, but still)
    -apps are neon (ick)
    -terrible design layouts
-safari ***** (as usual) with its search bar functioning as web address search as well
-mail badge says i hate not read mail when i have
    -passcode can be surpassed
-game center push notifications will not go away
-will not sync with my mac
    APPLE PLEASE LET US DOWNGRADE

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums.

  • Best way to disconnect firewire audio interface (power down apogee duet)

This may seem like a really naive question, but I am brand new to firewire as well as Macs, so forgive me.
It doesn't seem healthy to just leave my Apogee Duet powered via the firewire connection when I'm not using it for a length of time (ie - doing graphics rather than music). With any and all software that had been using it closed down, and my system prefs for audio back to non-duet input/output for audio, can the firewire cable to it just be disconnected, cutting power to it? Or should I power down the computer, then disconnect, and power back up?
Uh, and I guess I'm posting this question here because it seems more likely for there to be a number of Duet and/or audio firewire interface people here...
    Thanks,
    Apple

    hi,
    you can leave it active.
    won't damage anything.
in fact, it might stop damage.
only thing i find is, if i switch the mac off totally, i get a ground loop (or lack of)occurring to my pwr amp/monitors.
you could yank the FW cable but it'll produce the loop (hum).
if your are using small; speakers, you might not hear this, because it's low, but it's still there.

  • IOS: Thoughts on scaling down Retina content for iPad 2?

I don't have a non-Retina device to test on (yet. Still early in development on my universal first app), so I was wondering if anyone else is considering scaling Retina content down 50% for non-Retina devices? (iPod Touch 3rd Gen, iPhone 3GS & iPad 2) This method would sure be nicer than having to package a bunch of extra images!
Testing for appearance in Flash CS 5.5, this scaling method seems to work fine, with the exception of small text; (button labels) doesn't look that great. Anybody have some insight or experience with scaling text on these screens? Will it look better on the actual device or should I import native resolution non-Retina elements for the smaller text?
Thanks for helping an iOS noob!

Update since I played with this some more today...
I decided to create new tab/nav bar with buttons at standard (non-Retina display) resolution and call that in for non-Retina devices, while scaling down my app pages 50%. (Larger text seems to look fine when scaled down) I dropped the font on my button labels from Helvetica Neue "medium" to "regular" as well as checking "use device fonts." Both actions seemed to bring a marked improvement on legibility for the small font size (11). Hopefully this will all check out when I get to test it on a real non-Retina device, but I do hear Apple's hardware does a pretty good job at scaling.
    Hope this helps someone...

  • Itunes for IOS 8 interface issue

How do I shut of ITunes in IOS8's tuning my iPhone screen into a photo-collage of all my music which behaves like a touch-screen land-mine that hair triggers out of what I'm listening to into something else? I know I can shake the phone like a drunken parent throttling their disappointing kids for their own $&@!#% good to get back to the "now playing" screen but I'd rather find a way to just shut this feature off.
can this be done in the interface or do I need to contact apple.

Be careful about upgrading to itunes 11.4 under 10.6.8. I did that, and lost the ability to sync my iphone 5s and 4th gen ipad in itunes. I was finally able to remove all of the hidden and broken itunes 11.4 extensions , and then reinstalled itunes 11.2 so that I can use ios 8 with my itunes.
Check out this discussion Upgraded to iTunes 11.4 and now it won't sync my iPhone 5s-sync button is greyed out.
