IOS7 - Select list text being truncated

Hi,
Can anyone tell me why long options in a select list (drop down) are being truncated? Is there a way to force such options to be all visible without truncating the text?
I have a responsive site, however on iPhones this text is being truncated while on Android and Windows Phone this works fine...

How do we handle a item in both as a select list & text

Hi All,
In my application, i have used Create button..when ever a create button is clicked a "Select List" will apper..
Similarly i have also a "Edit" icon when ever a icon is clicked it will also the same "select list item"...
Now the end user is asking to make the select list item as redaonly when we clik on Edit icon...
How to handle this scenerio..
The way i have done is as of now is that i have created two items with the same name one is for select list &
the other is for the text item using conditional i have managed..
But i would like to know is there any other way with out creating any extra item & by using only the select lits item can we achieve it or not.

Hi Anoo,
You mentioned in your original post that you have a select list item and a text item, and that you're using a condition to determine which one to show. For the Read Only condition for a single select list item, you would specify the condition you currently have that is telling ApEx to show the text item rather than the select list.
The idea here is that if the Read Only condition evaluates to TRUE (currently in edit mode), then the select list item will render as read-only; if it evaluates to FALSE (currently in create mode), it will render as a normal select list.

Select List/Text Field

On my form I have a dynamic select lists What I want to do is that, if the required value is not in the select list, then the user can type it in. Then on saving the record the value is added to the select list.
Any ideas appreciated

Hello,
I guess the easiest way to do that is to put a text item next to the select list.
If you don't find the value, you type in there.
Or you could add for ex. an other in the select list and when that's selected, the text item gets visible.
Next to that you want a process that handles the insert into the table.

Container Element Text Being Truncated in Email

Hello,
If a user rejects a Purchase Requision, I have added a Hard Check (BADI) that requires the user to enter a "Reason for Rejection."
In my BOR (ZBUS2105) GET_DATA method, I retrieve the "Reason for Rejection" text and add it to the Container.
In my "Send Rejection Email" step, I set the "Reason for Rejection" text in the email body.
When the email is sent, only 76 chars of the "Reason for Rejection" text is transferred from the Container to the email, however, in SWIA (Workflow logs), I can clearly see that my Container element contains about 210 chars of text.
Also, the "Reason for Rejection" Container element is defined as CHAR255 (max value size allowed by the Container).
Does anyone know why the "Reason for Rejeciton" text would be getting truncated in the email?

How to get the text boxes and select lists dynamically?

Hi,
I have a requirement such that I need to create the text boxes and select lists depending on the user input at the run time. It means that if the user requires four text boxes/select lists then I need to have 4 such thing. If the user need 6 then I need to have 6.
The design may be such that initially only one text box/select list will be available when the page launches. Then as ad when the user asks for more those will be available to the user accordingly.

You can use Ajax to call textboxes and select list based on what user enters.
Otherwise make those items conditional and based on what user enters you can display textbox or select list.
You can call Single Textbox and Select List using Ajax for any number of conditions.

How to set "Display as Text" field with AJAX select list

thanks Denes for your posting. I'm trying to use the Denes Kubicek code to populate a "Display as Text" field. It works for Text Field (disabled), but not "Display as Text" field(saves state) . In my applciation I need to show this field only (not the disabled text box) when a select list value is changed. any ideas to modify the code below are appreciated.

this works fine on normal page, except page zero. I have the AJAX select list and "Display as Text" field on page zero. The "Display as Text" field doesn't show the the value when AJAX select is changed. I'm using similar code as used in my other APEX page on OTN site. I tired to display the gReturn value, just before calling "setDisplayOnlyNode" function in the code below and it's showing correct value, but fails to display the value in the APEX field on page zero. Any ideas are appreciated.

"Key and Text" values in variable selection list for a field

      we have created the variable for the one of the navigation attributes of the "0customer" field .
      for the customer field in BEX settings we are having "Text" as display.
      for the navigation field in BEX settings we are having "Key" as display.
      while running the reports in the variable selection list for some reports we having both KEY and text for selection and for others only text are displayed,
    we have checked the BEX settings in field and query level there are same.
Please help us here.

Check the setting again in the Query level and then maku sure you save it. Come out of the query and then re-open the query and execute, you can see the chages in the output.

Populate Text fields from Select List

I have a select list when selected should populate two text fields with values based on SQL Query
Eg. The select list is for empno and populates ename and sal in two different text fields.
I have looked at Denes' example http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:42 It is very good but the only problem I am facing is how to populate more than one fields.
Any help will be appreciated.

That would depend on where the SAL data is. If it's on your page, then you could probably do something with javascript. If not, you would have to do some Ajax to retrieve the value from the database. Have a look at: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:80
Your select list could include both the ENAME and SAL values and your existing javascript would then just split the data into two parts and insert them into the appropriate fields.

Select List as a child to a text field?

I'm using APEX 4.1. I have a Select List that has a Cascading LOV Parent Item that is just another text field, the LOV sql has the text field in the where clause. When I type a few characters into the text field and tab to the Select List the list is filtered by the characters from the text field, but if I use the mouse and click the down arrow of the Select List I have to click twice before the list will be populated. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I would imagine it's a similar issue to the old 'mouse-navigate' in forms where no change event has fired while processing the arrow click. You may find different results in different browsers?
You may be able to solve your problem with a mouse-click DA on your select list? or something similar, who'se action refreshes that select list item.

Automatically update text field depending on the in select list value

I have got 2 tables. Table A (Employee Personal Detail), Table B (Employee Academic detail). Employee no is common field between two tables).
I have created interactive report with form on table b using in-built templates. I have added text box on form to display employee name which is stored in table A. I want to automatically display employee name depending upon value in employee no field on form. I know I can write query to get value in employee name field. It gives me error when employee no is blank. How to handle error?

For the employee name value to change according to the emp_no, your page needs to get submitted. can you use a select list with submit for emp_no? And then use the PL/SQL mentioned above to run on page submit?
I'm not sure but I guess you can also achieve this in Ajax. May be someone expert in that could help.

Dynamic Action in Apex - Select list to Text field

Hi,
I have two text items. Need to create dynamic action for the following,
1. Order_type - Drop down values having CONSUMER & WHOLESALE.
2. Order_number - Text field
When a user selects CONSUMER, order number should automatically change to '1-' and user can enter only 14 characters (1-236666666666).
When a user selects WHOLESALE, order number should automatically change to '2-' and user can enter only 12 characters (2-2155555555).
Can someone please help to resolve this issue.

Create an on-submit computation to concatenate PXX_ORDERNUM_PRE and PXX_ORDERNUM_SUF into PXX_ORDER_NUMBER.
Create validation on PXX_ORDERNUM_SUF, if PXX_ORDER_TYPE is 'CONSUMER' the length should be 12 characters, if 'WHOLESALE' the length should be 10 characters.(excluding 2 characters of prefix).
     So this covers the following:
On change of Order Type, Order Number Prefix should be set.
Order Number Prefix should be not able to be modified, but the rest of Order Number should be able to be entered by user.
Order Number should be of specific length depending upon the Order Type.

Create single text feild to display in select list

Hello, i am going round in circles with what i need to acheive. i have this on a previous post but not sure if what i was asking was correct
what i need to do is have a item size select list for the end user BUT in the backend i need to have a text feild or text feilds that can be manually changed. the db has a prod table with
ID
Desc
Price
Size
feilds, so i was thinking if it was on a single line text feild that could store all the sizes in one feild in the db and can be changed in the backend
OR
how paypal buttons do it where the backend has a add size function so you can add a set a
mount of sizes and can manually change them is need be, beacuse i will need the backend to show if a product has sold out and wanted to be able to type "sold out" then show that in the select list
