IP Address of Airport Express when sharing connection with a Linksys?

Question is in the Subject line, I am wondering if there is an easy way to know what the IP Address of the Airport is when I have it set up to share connection with my Linksys.
My Linksys IP address is 192.168.1.1, so I am assuming that the way I have it set up that my Airport is using 192.168.1.x, but I am not sure how to figure out what the "x" is.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Nevermind, I figured it out through a guessing game

  • My airport express is not connecting with my airport extreme base station. They are probably six years old. My IP address on my express shows 0.0.0.0

My Airport extreme and my airport express are not connecting together. I get an error message saying that my airport express software is not compatible with my Airport extreme and I have use them together for the past five or six years. It says I may need to change my IP address on my computer or something like that but I don't know what to do. the IP address on my express shows 0.0.0.0. Should everything be on the same IP address? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Please refer to the information already posted above:
If you see A1084 or A1088 there, your older Express is not supported by the newer version of AirPort Utility that you have.
If you have another Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard, or a PC, then you could use that computer to administer the older Express and it will work on the network along with the AirPort Extreme.
If the Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard or PC does not "see" the A1084 Express, you will need to "hard reset" the Express by holding in the reset button for 10 seconds and waiting a full minute for the Express to restart. Then, reconfigure the Express again.

  • Airport express makes no connection with internet

My airport express is on green, but the router/moden above it makes no connection to internet.
When I put the LAN directly in my computer it works fine.
    Routeraddress is 192.168.1.1.
I used static IP 192.168.1.200 and used the bridgemodus.
The internetrouter is a Davolink DV-2020.
Can please tell somebody me what I do wrong?!
    Thank you.

P.S. I have reset and reboot the modem router a few times allready.

On a different note about port mapping, I hope Tesserax can answer.
I'm trying to open port 16000 for UDP only, do I put in my default gateway address or the ip4 address or my 68.xxx address?
Also, how do I open DMZ?

  • Airport Express constantly dropping connection with AirTunes

I have 2 airport express in 2 completely separate buildings. One has a Base Station feeding it, the other a Bell 2wire DSL wireless router. In both cases they are useless for AirTunes streaming. There is constant cutouts. What is wrong with these things! All computers running 10.6.2.

    Welcome to the discussion area!
The two primary causes for drop outs are inadequate signal strength and/or wireless interference.
The AX probably needs to be positioned closer to the wireless router to get a stronger signal. As far as wireless interference, all you can do is try different channel settings on your wireless router to see if one works better than another.
The permanent solution to a drop out problem over wireless, is of course to use ethernet to connect the AirPort Express, but that may not be possible in your situation.

  • Airport express G not working with new linksys N router

I just swapped a new linksys N router into my old G network and my old airport express is flashing amber and refusing to acknowledge the network. It does not seem to be picking up. What does this mean and how do i fix it? thank you in advance

someone posted this anyone , not sure i actually understand all of it
hours of digging through blogs and Apple help docs, with some luck and trial & error, have gotten it to work. This experience seals the deal...if a Mac can ever run Excel, I'm abandoning my PC.
For the benefit of anyone else in my situation, here's what I did:
You have to override Airport Express's default desire to make itself the hub of a new network, and force it to be added as a client to your own network.
First, plug the Airport Express into the wall, then reset it by holding down the reset button with a paper clip for about ten seconds. Plug in an ethernet cord that's attached to your wireless router.
Open the Airport utility which you should've installed from the cd in the package. It should now recognize your Airport Express and the light will turn green. Be patient...mine took awhile, and even started flashing amber before it worked.
You will need to manually configure the AE from the utility by typing in the name of your wireless network, setting AE to "join an existing network" instead of its default "create new network," and enable Airtunes.
You may need to add the "Airport ID" printed on the case of the unit to your router's MAC list. This allows the router to recognize the device. Type your router's IP address into the address bar of internet explorer to access the router settings.
If you don't see your speakers listed in a box at the bottom of iTunes, you will need to go to the settings window (in iTunes) and click "search for remote speakers connected to Airtunes."
gonna try it out, cause nothing else has worked

  • Has anyone had issues with the airport extreme 802.11 connecting with a linksys SPA941 phone?

Got the new AirPort Extreme.  Trying to connect my Linksys SPA941 phone to it.  Mute button flashes so call receiver cannot hear me.  Tested wires..All good. Changed modem..All good.  Had same issue with Linksys router EA4500 i just traded in.  Hoped to fix the issue with Airport.  Same issue is occuring.

One more thing.  I was using the Linksys WRT54G2 router before.  Did not have any issues.  It was going bad on me.

  • How on earth could I be connecting to the Internet through my airport express when it is not connected to anything?

I'm not entirely displeased with the situation but I cannot see how I could be connecting to the Internet through my airport express when the Airport is not connected to anything.
    Weird huh?
I have a separate non- Airport wireless network connected to the Internet.  I had previously set-up the Airport to link with this network but disconnected it (by resetting it) as music streaming was unlistenable due to frequent drop out.  I now just have the Airport Express as a standalone wireless network only connecting to the stereo to stream music from devices.
My devices are only connected to the Airport network with cellular data off. Yet I can still connect to the Internet AND listen to streaming music (without drop-out no less).
I don't want to fix it but I would like to know how the frag it could happen so i don't screw it up accidentally.

I would say you still have something of the previous setup.
To be sure you don't mess up, save the configuration.. go to the top menu area of the airport utility and export configuration.. which will land on your computer.
Now you can recover at anytime to the current setup.
How it works.. that is magical ..
Open the airport utility.. edit.. and take a screenshot and post it of the following pages..

THen we can tell you how it is working.

  • Airport Express won't connect to Extreme by ethernet

    Hi,
    Here is my setup:
    a) Airport Extreme (802.11n 2nd gen) connected by ethernet to cable modem
    b) Airport Express #1 setup to wirelessly extend network
This has worked fine for quite some time.
Now, what I tried to is add a 2nd Airport Express via ethernet, so
    the new setup is:
    1) cable modem via ethernet to Airport Extreme
    2) ethernet connection from Airport Extreme to D-Link 8 port gigabit switch
    3) ethernet from switch to several devices (Tivo, GoogleTV,etc) and also to an in-wall ethernet connection to another part of my house
    4) ethernet from that in-wall ethernet to another D-Link switch
    5) ethernet from that other switch to printer (currently works fine) and to Airport Express #2
    6) Airport Express #1 still connected wirelessly
Problem: Airport Express #2 will not connect.  Won't show up in Airport Utility.  Nothing.
I have tried several factory resets.
After many tries, I finally tried connecting it wirelessly.  This worked, and I was able to see AEX#2 in the Airport Utility.  But, when I then tried to connect it by ethernet, it shut down my entire network.  I can not anywhere find step by step instructions on how to connect the AEX by ethernet to the Extreme.
I have reviewed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145 but find no help there.
Looking forward to some great help.
    - Blue

If I switch Express#2 (the one I would lilke to connect by ethernet) to "create" a network, with the same SSID and PW, then I can only see Express#2 in the utility and the Extreme and Express#1 dissappear.
As soon as you set the Express #2 to "Create a wireless network, the setting for Connection Sharing will change from Bridge Mode to Share a public IP address. That is likely what is throwing you off.
Setup Express #2 to "Create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, same wireless security and same password.
The next...and last....and critical....step before you click Update must be to change the setting for Connection Sharing from Share a public IP address to Off (Bridge Mode).
Now click Update and wait for a green light on Express #2.
Then, you have to power cycle the entire network.
Power off everything in any order you want.
    Wait a minute
Start the modem first and let it run a minute
Start the AirPort Extreme next the same way
    Then the switch, etc.
You get the idea....keep starting devices one at a time until the entire network is back up.
Now all the AirPorts will be on the same subnet and visible in AirPort Utility.

  • "no valid IP address" error airport express as bridge with Dlink router

    Hi there
I've read through many many posts and am unable to find the answer to my issue. I am trying to use my DLink DR 615 router as my main wireless router and then connect my airport express (brand new - n connection) wirelessly as a bridge. I would then connect my WD Live box to the ethernet port and connect the stereo connection to my receiver for itunes. at least, that's the theory.
Right now, I can't even connect. when I go through the manual process, I selected "connect through wireless network" and left the "configure IPv4" as "using DHCP".
problem is that it comes up as my wireless device does not have a valid IP address. Can someone help me step through how to make this work?
    thanks so much!

Suggest that you start over by holding in the reset button until the amber light blinks quickly. Hold another second or two and release.
Temporarily, connect an ethernet cable from your computer to the AirPort Express (AX) to help with the configuration. You can disconnect the cable when you have the AX configured.
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Set Wireless Mode to "Join a wireless network"
(If you don't see this choice, hold down the option key on your computer as you click the selection box)
Wireless Network Name...the name of the wireless network created by your DLink should appear as a choice. Click to select.
Put a check mark in the box to Allow Ethernet Clients
Wireless Security...must exactly match the security settings of your DLink network
Wireless Password...must exactly match the settings of your DLinkk network
Click Update and AX will restart in 15-20 seconds.
You can move the AX to the desired location and hook up the ethernet cable. If your DLink is compatible with the ProxySTA function, you will connect.

  • I changed cable providers and now my Airport Express won't connect to the Internet.  How do I fix this?

I changed to Time Warner cable.  Upon doing so, my Airport Express lost its connection to the Internet.  When I run the Airport Utility, I am stuck at the first step, which says the AE doesn't have any DNS server addresses.  What are they and how do I find out what they should be?  And if I supply them, will that fix the problem?

Have you performed a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Express?
If not, the Express is still remembering the settings that you programmed into it when you configured it to work with your old modem.
The Express is "looking" for your old modem, but it does not "see" 'it because it is no longer there...so it can't connect to the Internet.
If you have not already tried the Factory Default Reset and you need more info about this, post back for more details.

  • Is apple tv convenient compared to airport express when it comes to audio airplay ? (all i need to do is , switch on my airport express)

is apple tv (2nd gen) convenient compared to airport express when it comes to audio airplay ?
i currently have my amp connected via optical cable to my airport express , everytime i want to listen to songs from my iphone , all i need to is switch on my amp and airport express , and then play from my iphone.
    the following are my doubts
1.i know that apple tv has mirroring and video airplay as well , but will it play audio songs from my iphone , just like my AE without any hassle of clicking anything or do i need to switch on my tv and opt for some settings ? ( my point is , is it as simple as AE or do i need to select a setting or 2 , i really dont have the patience of selecting any settings nor switch on the tv , my AE is **** simple cause all i need to do is switch it on )
2.i have a airplay enabled amp in other room , can i play a video from my itunes to apple tv (2nd gen ) and amp at the same time ? since the apple tv will play video also , will the audio play at the same time on both the apple tv and my airplay enabled amp ? or is there a lag between the 2 ,cause apple tv needs to play the video as well ?
3.can my airplay amp + apple tv + airport express play music at the same time when played through itunes ? ( its a music video , so apple tv will play video also ) without the lag ?

Would you recommend this set up
i would. i've got one of the original 40 GB units and it is probably the most-used gadget in my arsenal.
other users here will probably try to sell the new mini to you (due to it has an HDMI interface and whatnot) but IMHO nothing beats the ATV for ease-of-use.
Is there a new Apple TV coming out soon or should I just go ahead and get involved!?
there's rumor out there that a new model is in the pipe. however, nobody here would know when it is due and what features a new model will pack.
if you have the budget, go for it

  • Having problems connecting an AirPort Express in client mode to a Linksys?

I have a Linksys WRT150N as my main access point. I recently dumbed down its security to WPA2 Personal so a Dell, and Xbox 360 could get on it wirelessly. Unfortunately, my AirPort Express refuses to connect now even after re-configuring it to use WPA. Its light just blinks Amber.
Does anyone else have an AirPort Express connected in client mode to a Linksys access point using WPA Personal security? I vaguely recall that I had this problem before, and solved it by using WPA2. Perhaps it's time to get an Apple TV for playing music on the home theater...
    Thanks.

Hi, Bill!  Actually, no--the AE is creating its own wireless network with the same SSID and password as the Time Capsule.  I had big problems with bandwidth degredation when I tried to extend the network like that.
But I believe I tracked down the cause of the issue--the powerline adapter was losing its connection with the other powerline adapter for some reason.  Still observing that one, but all the Apple stuff appears to be operating normally.  Thanks for the replay anyway!

  • How can I use AirPort Express when traveling?

How can I use AirPort Express when traveling?

How can I use AirPort Express when traveling?
Connect the AirPort Express to the Ethernet port in your room.....to be able to create your own private wireless network in your room for multiple devices.
You will still have to pay the hotel Internet charge for one device, if the hotel charges for Internet access.
If the hotel only provides wireless service, then a single AirPort Express will not help you.
However, if you have two AirPort Express devices, then you can use one to "join" the hotel wireless network, then connect the second Express to the first using an Ethernet cable and create your own wireless network for multiple devices in your room.
