IP address on global keepalive

CSS configuration with keepalive named set an IP address to the global keepalive.
Into the Cisco document we can read
"Configuring a Global Keepalive IP Address
The CSS sends global keepalives to a service that monitors the state of services assigned to it. Use the ip address command to specify the IP address where the keepalive messages are sent."
This means that we need a dedicated external service to monitor the real services?!

Let's say you have a server that runs HTTP and FTP.
You create the following services
service A-http
service A-ftp
They will have their own separate keepalive.
NO global keepalive.
But then you create a generic service for server A.
ie:
service A-generic
ip x.x.x.x
active
And you want this service to be alive when the http port is alive.
You can simply add 'keepalive type http'.
But you already have another service sending http keepalive to that server.
So, if you add 'keepalive type http' to this new service, the CSS will send 2 probes for the same service.
So, to avoid sending 2 probes, you create a GLOBAL keepalive.
This global keepalive is configured with the ip address of the server and keepalive type http.
You then assign this global keepalive to the 2 services that need it.
This is as simple as that.
You only need global keepalive if 2 or more services use the same keepalive.
The ip address is the one used by the 2 services.
Gilles.

  • Outlook Connector - Address book - Global Address List

Using Outlook Connector version 7.2.402.1 on both Outlook 2003 and 2007 I am having an issue when trying to view the Global Address List. The vertical scroll bar doesn't activate unless I resize my Address Book window. Even after that it doesn't work that well. It is very erratic.
I have set up a VLV index for the Address book as follows:
    dn: cn=outlook_connector_browsing_index,cn=xyz,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
    cn: outlook_connector_browsing_index
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: vlvSearch
    vlvbase: o=xyz.edu,dc=xyz,dc=edu
    vlvfilter: (&(mail=*)(cn=*))
    vlvscope: 2
    dn: cn=Sort cn,cn=outlook_connector_browsing_index,cn=xyz,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
    cn: Sort cn
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: vlvIndex
    vlvenabled: 1
    vlvsort: cn
Doing a tail -f on the access log while using the Address Book I can see the VLV index being used. Is there something buggy with the Outlook Connector or is there something I missed in the VLV index?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Users are unable to log into the Address Book server though Outlook if the Address Book (in Communications Express) is in SSL mode.
Workaround: Open Communications Express within Internet Explorer and permanently accept the self-signed certificate. In this case instead of Communications Express, you would log into Convergence using the SSL path (https://server.domain.com/iwc) and permanently accept the certificate.

  • Address Book global display ....

Hi ... Like in Snow Leopard and all previous OS X's Address Book's is there a way to show all at once the group names, the contact name and the contact details, without having to turn pages every time ?

    Thanks ...  What a mess !
I have migrated to Lion !!   Did I do the good thing ?  Not realy sure ... Before migrating, I was almost sure that I was better off not doing it.  I still have this impression ...  I feel that Apple has tried to reinvent something that was not broken.  I understand the unifying Mac OS and iOS is a good idea, but I don't think that it is necessary to trash what was already good.  Take for exemple the Address Book.  The new book metaphor is not intuitive. Digital data manages many levels of information at a time, while physical books manage only a few.
Previously Address Book showed Group names, contacts names and contact details.  Now to see all of this you have to turn physical pages.  This is going backward and complicating things.
The problem Apple will face is with it's growing user population, it will begin having Microsoft's problem:  satisfy to many types of customers.  This path will probably normalize by the bottom, meaning that the final product will have to be appealling to many not necessarelty to be genial.  To be genial, has been Apple's flagship and what has made it the best.
Physical books have physical limitation.  Computers can display many level of data simultaneously.  Replicating a physical book is not a good idea, if it is not augmented to computer reality.
Where is my good old fashion OS X Address Book ?  Is Lion really an upgrade or a downgrade ?  And now Moutain Lion is coming !!

  • Address Book Global Field Changes

Is there any way to make changes to a specific field in Address Book for several cards?
I have a distribution list of close to 700 cards, and I need to change the 'Job Title' field for each one of these cards.
I can't seem to find a 'find and replace' in Edit. There is the command-E for 'use selection for find', but I can't figure out how that works.

  • blank values using Global Address Cleanse Transform

    Hi,
We are trying to cleanse Global Addresses using Global Address cleanse transform. (with USA and Global Engines). We are passing Locality, Region and Postal code as multiline items. In the output some of the records are not getting populated. For these records if we keep USA as defult country then the fields are getting populated. The problem is we cannot take USA as defult country because it has global addresses and for other countries also it is filling USA as country name. Why is it that without giving USA as default country the fields are not getting populated for some records?
Below are some of the sample addresses.
    1)     10 INDUSTR. HWY MS6     LESTER     PA     19029
    2)     PO BOX_22964     JACKSON     MS     39225
    3)     306 EASTMAN     GREENWOOD     MS     38930
    4)     3844 W NORTHSIDE DR     JACKSON     MS     39209
    5)     259 W QIANJIANG RD     ZHEJIANG     CN     31440
Can you please suggest a way to fill the countries for these addresses? Any inputs on this will be appreciated.
    regards,
    Madhavi

    Hi,
As Lance indicates, you set up your address cleanse (for US I would suggest using the URAC transform) and map in your input fields as normal.  In the output, you will select to output postcode2 along with all the other standardized fields you want posted in the output.
Note:  If an address is assignable using the CASS rules established by the USPS to the USPS referential data, the postcode2 will be populated.  In cases where it is not assignable, the postcode2 can be empty or the input postcode2 data could be preserved based on a user's settings.
    Thanks,

  • USA and Canade Engines in Global Address Cleanse

Hi All, My client has license for All world directories. We deployed all world directories on BODS 4.0 application. I can see ga_all_world_gen" and "ga_country" directories but not any other. When I use Global address engine then it works fine for other countries data. But when I use Canada engine then I got error that cancity.dir is missing. When I use USA engine then I get error for some other directories missing.
Do we need separate license to use Canada or USA engines? Can I cleanse USA and canada addresses using Global Address engine?
    Thanks,

    hi,
I am not sure about the licenses issue.
If you are using Global Address Cleanse, usa and canada addresses can also be cleansed but only country, city and postal code. Street level can be cleanse if you have the country specified address directories.

  • HTTP keepalive healthcheck help!!!

    hi all,
i have configure a global keepalive to check a uri into a server using http and port 81 as shown:
    keepalive PreBancs1Keepalive
    type http
    port 81
    method get
    uri "HealthPageTest.aspx"
    ip address 10.0.207.71
    maxfailure 2
    active
as the default frequency time is 5 secondes, im still seeing the server down, but when i increased the freq to 10 it came up,
During analysis of keepalive get requests from the content switch to the Health Check page, it would appear that with a keepalive frequency of 5 seconds, the content switch automatically sends a TCP reset 3 seconds after initiating the HTTP keepalive. With a keepalive frequency of 10 seconds the content switch automatically sends a TCP reset 8 seconds after initiating the HTTP keepalive. Is this a configurable value (i.e. the 3 seconds or 8 seconds)? If not what exactly is the algorithm ?
please help me in this issue...
    thanks in advance,
    hasan odeh

    hasan,
    This is normal behavior:
Unresponsive KALs are failed 2 sec before the next KAL is scheduled.
After 1 failure the service is marked as Dying
The Retry KAL timer begins once a normal KAL has failed.
    Description:
Your problem lies in the fact that when a kal is sent it takes longer than 5 or 10 seconds for your server to process the request and return the result. The kal must be processed before another one is sent out so it close the request off 2 seconds before the next kal.
    Solution:
Increase the timer 5/10 seconds is to slow, 15/30/60 seconds is far better. Also keep in mind that you could change the get to a head. This will lead to a quicker response from the server.
    Remark:
Watch out since you are using a get the page will be hashed and compared, since you are using aspx pages this could lead to failures.
    Hope this helped you out,
    Dimitri

  • How to distinguish the right address to use

We're making a P2P application for audio streaming. It's working, but we have this problem - if one would enter 'localhost' for the server address (because server is indeed on the local machine), this would register that peer by the address value of 127.0.0.1. If for server address a LAN address was entered, this peer would be registered by it's LAN address as well, so noone outside the LAN could address it in order to download music from it. In previous case, with 127.0.0.1, all peers that atempt to get a file from that problematic one would actually try to get the file from themselves (as they would see the target peer's address as '127.0.0.1').
I believe you see my problem here...
Is there a better solution that to ask the client which address they wish to use of all available (global or local)? I could also tell the client that if they specify a LAN address, the program would work in LAN only, and with the loopback the prog would function in a test mode on a local machine only, but I hope someone will come up with a more elegant solution...

...I'm not sure I got you... and I'm not sure you got me.
Accessing the global server is no problem, nor is accessing some other peer... The only problem is when you enter LAN address for global server address, because the server will then put in it's base something like: file "example.mp3" can be found on the address "your LAN address" instead of: file "example.mp3 can be found on the address "your global public IP". So, when anyone tries to get example.mp3 he will search for it on "your LAN address" (and get an error) instead of "your global public IP". Similar thing with 127.0.0.1 for server address.
This does not happen when you enter server's global IP. The data still runs through LAN but the address will be stored properly.
I get the address by socket.getInetAddress(). So, when the peer says the server is on 127.0.0.1, the server resolvers peer's address as 127.0.0.1. Apparently, no problem occurs if the server runs on a separate machine (not within same LAN) from any of the peers.
Sorry if you'd got what I'm saying from the beginning and my rambling was redundant...

  • RP Address in MULTICAST

I have few doubts about Multicast RP address
We have MPLS ISP backbone network, here two P routers are configured as RP address(IN GLOBAL) and MSDP is running between them.
    Now, my doubts are
All the Multicast customer we are giving is under MVPN only, if dense mode no RP concept, if sparse mode MVPN have a separate RP. Then what the use of Global RP and MSDP??
I come across MSDP for inter domain multicasting, do we need to run MSDP with other ISPs?? if so, is it advisable??
    Pls clear my above doubts!!
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Sankar,
All the Multicast customer we are giving is under MVPN only, if dense mode no RP concept, if sparse mode MVPN have a separate RP. Then what the use of Global RP and MSDP??
CE multicast (or simply c-multicast) and SP multicast (or simply p-multicast) are totally independent. As you mentioned, even if Customer multicast is sparse mode, the RP should be from VRF. RP from SP global cannot help with VRF multicast (Else you need complex leaking). Global RP is required if the P-multicast is sparse mode, inorder to establish the MDT tunnel. MSDP is required if you provide some inter domain multicast.
I come across MSDP for inter domain multicasting, do we need to run MSDP with other ISPs?? if so, is it advisable??
MSDP can be iether used for Inter domain or with Anycast RP. Basically MSDP is the protocol used to update any active source details to otehr RP in same domain (in case of Anycast) or different domain.
You may have to check if you have inter-as design or anycast to understand the need for MSDP.

  • Contacing my address book that I have a new email address, my mac address

Can someone help? I just discontinued my comcast service and will use my mac.com as my main email address. Is there a way I can contact my address book globally?
    Thanks,
    Ron

Start a new message. Select all the contacts and drag them to the BCC field of the new message. Put your email address in the To field. Add a subject and some text and click Send.
If you have more than 200 contacts it would be better to send them in groups of less than 200, and not do more than one group a day.

  • Outlook 2010 Quick Steps - Address Book issue

It was suggested I ask this question in the Windows 7 forum, after I posted it in the O365 forum...
Environment:  Wave15 O365, on-premise users/groups, dirsync'd to O365 (ADFS).  No on-site exchange servers.  Users use either OWA or Outlook 2010 full client (part of Prof Plus 2010).
We have verified that the personal address books have had their 'show this folder as an e-mail Address Book' checked.
When we try to setup a Quick Step in the Outlook client on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 machine, it appears to be looking to the local machine's Windows Address Book, instead of the Outlook address books.  It
only shows an Administrator E-mail Address.  The window top does say Address Book: Global Address List.  We cannot see any other address books.
When I login as the same user on a Windows 2003 R2 machine (citrix full desktop), it properly sees all of the address books, so it's not specific to the user. It appears to have something to do with the Operating
    System.
    Ideas?

  • MAC Address Authentication

    Guys,
I just want to know. Can I use the MAC Address Authentication without RADIUS server to join the SSID in my Aironet 1242?
    I am using Autonomous mode.
Thank you very much for your attention.
    Regards,
    Edwin

    Edwin,
    Yes I believe you can.
I am not familar with all the methods available, but I have used these methods in the past.
    1. This method applies the MAC address filtering globally across all dot11 interfaces on the device.
    dot11 association mac-list 700
    access-list 700 permit mac.address address.mask
    2. This method applies the MAC address filtering on a per interface basis, and requires bridging.
    interface Dot11Radio0.x
      bridge-group x input-address-list 700
    access-list 700 permit mac.address address.mask
    3. MAC Address Authentication to the Network - This method is best described in the following document.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/wireless/software/guide/SecurityAuthenticationTypes.html#wp1034875
Method #3 may not be supported in certain IOS versions on certain platforms.
Others may know of additional methods, and/or correct any errors In the information I have presented here.
Hope this may be of help to you.
