IP address tracking

In our database, lots of query runs daily which create too much problem, so we want to track the system Ip address the query is fired from, is there any way to find the ip address of the system from where the query is inserted.

Does CRES have the IP address that a decryption key was delivered to tracked?

If you mean is the IP address that made the decryption key request accessible to you in a report or online query, then no.
If you mean does Cisco have that information, then I guess it could have; CRES is a web server accepting HTTPS requests so there must be a source IP address for each request. Whether they hold that information I don't know. Whether they would let you have it if they did is very doubtful for privacy of the recipient reasons.

V240 ALOM resets every time it requests an IP address through DHCP

I'm encountering an issue with an ALOM configured to DHCP. Every time it requests an IP address (tracked by watching messages on the DHCP server, which is running Red Hat EL4 update 4), the ALOM resets. All the POSTs pass. If it's configured for a static IP, it stops resetting, but immediately begins doing it again if switched back. I've encountered this with two different ALOMs on different V240s, so I'm guessing it's not hardware, but it hasn't happened 100% of the time either (it seems to DHCP fine most of the time, then it will get into this state and stay there).

Look in XP control panel/device manager. Check Network Adapters, is there a yellow tick on the Nvidia nForce Networking Controller?
Click on nVidia and select the Driver tab. My Driver Provider is NVIDIA, Driver Date: 4/6/2005, Driver Version: 4.8.2.0 and it is Digitally Signed. The Nvidia driver file version is 1.00.00.0482. Mine works fine.
Have you tried the Marvell Yukon NIC? That should work.

InCopy CC crashes when using track changes

Hi
We have had a lot of problems with InCopy chrasing.
We are using the package system.
It seems to happen when clients are using Track changes, they open the file and if i opens in Story mode it just spins and won't works. If ou open it in Layout mode it seems fine but as soon as you go to Story mode it spins again.
If the track changes are accepted the package will work fine again.
Does Adobe have any updates for this it's becoming very frustating and clients don't want to use InCopy.

I don't think there is anything specific in the upgrade that addresses tracked changes, sorry.
If you need to keep a version of the INDD file with all the tracked changes (before you accept them, to reduce problems), then I'd suggest you make a whole new version of the project. Archive the old one with all the tracked changes intact, and wipe out the tracking markup by accepting all changes in the new doc.
1. The ID user makes sure all stories are checked in and up to date (easiest via the Assignments panel)
2. They unlink all the InCopy stories ... select them in the Assignments panel and click the Unlink icon at the bottom (trash can)
3. Do a Save As to the InDesign file into a new folder with a new name ("v2" appended, for example, or "_changes-accepted").
4. In the new file, re-export all the stories to InCopy format, saving them to a new subfolder.
5. Check out all the stories at once via the Assignments panel
6. Go to the Type menu and choose Track Changes > Accept All Changes > In This Document
7. Archive the old INDD file with its linked InCopy files (that have the changes)
8. Tell users to continue working on the new INDD file.
Alternatively, InCopy users can export each story showing the tracked change markup to PDF, archiving that for auditors, before accepting all changes.

Logic Pro 9 & track misalignment

Way back when I switched from Logic Pro 7 to ProTools HD in order to simplify track misalignment/delay compensations issues. PT has been fairly good in this respect but I heard that Logic Pro 9 has some sort of new approach for dealing with this problem-- some type of pinging.
It seems that the problems came from delay from the different plugins on various tracks and from using analog inserts with inherent conversion delay.
Did LP 9 address track misalignment?

Check the preferences in iTunes itself and uncheck Sound Enhancer and Soundcheck under the Playback section

Setting up users on Apple Remote Desktop

I am a relative newbie with the remote desktop functions. I downloaded the administrator for ARD, and I created a client installer. I know each computer I am installing on needs to have remote management turned on in system preferences, and that they need to install the package. I am able to see all the users who are on my network and have gone through these steps. What I am wondering is if I can see these users when they are not on my network? Would binding them to the domain help? Is there a way to access them via their MAC ID or some other way? Basically, I need the ability to remote access my clients even when they are not at work, but are traveling etc.. Is this possible without them having to do something else on their end every time? They will not want to create a static IP or have to tell me what their IP address is in each location. They want to do nothing other than call me and have me fix it.

Order Status Page Unavailable

I am trying to check on the status of my iPhone 6 order. Friends have gotten a tracking number but i have not received anything, i just wanted to check to make sure that everything is still looking ok but the page states system issues. When is this expecting to be resolved?

Same here. I was able to check my confirmation number on the old page and it said it had shipped, but with no tracking info. I tried later and got the new page but now it says page is not available.
Strangely, I had two duplicate orders (presumably from my two failed attempts at 3am yesterday) that DID come up with the strange IP address tracking number and MC6 courier. Even though I called Verizon yesterday about them and they said they only saw one order, the one that actually went through successfully.
I just talked to Verizon and they said one duplicate was canceled, the other he canceled while I was on the phone and my order that did go through was flagged as the real order. But when I asked him if there was any shipping or tracking info on it he said since they aren't scheduled for delivery until the 9th or 10th I won't get anything until 2-3 days before that.
So even though I've (hopefully) got my order straightened out, and they did charge my card already, I hope there are no further issues or delays. I don't mind getting it late next week, I just don't want to not hear anything for a week and then get an email that there was a problem.

ADOBE and the FEDS!

Nokia E72 Video Recording Lags

Hello,
Recently my Nokia E72 has begun to lag after about 8 seconds after starting the recording.
After I finish record (with the lag) my processed video will jitter and pixelate where the lag spikes occured during recording.
This was not a problem until after I updated to the latest firmware a few weeks ago.
I have looked everywhere online for a solution and have decided here might bring some possible solutions. Is there any way to try and fix this without downgrading the firmware?

Just tested on my E72 running 081.003 firmware, the same problem though it lags for only 3 or 4 seconds. I actually didn't realise this before.
Wondering if SD defragment could help as flash memory card does not use hard disk's way to address tracks and sectors.
Anyway, will have a try if possible.
BTW, I personally don't think resetting the phone could help here, and the problem should not be related to other apps, too.

For windows i only used the trial of solarwinds (wich is really good.) it also has free tools.
If you are only looking for inventory purposes or you are looking for a monitoring tool too?
For inventory you can use the ip address tracker (a free tool from solarwinds.)
PRTG from Paessler will let you monitor up to 10 devices for free. if you want more you have to pay.
Spiceworks (never try it) but i think its decent for inventory but if you want to monitor the devices you have you have to buy extra plugins (i think, not really sure.)
And that´s what comes to my mind for now

most likely it's some umm advertising for an err 'security scanning' company. Google brings up Macsweeper as using the "bad cookies & compromising files" quote. but ahh I see you've posted on macfixit about it.
It'd surprise me if anything useful or even genuine used that sort of language; if it was just a pop-up within Safari - I'd ignore it.

Question about changing TimeCode of media clip

The short I'm working on was shot in 35mm, 24fps. First of all, some info about the project:
- One-light transfer to BetaSP PAL (the dailies were sped up by 4% to match PAL's framerate), with burned in TC and keycodes
- Made a dupe of the dailies in DVCam PAL with slave codes so that the DVCam's address track matches the burned in TC
- Captured each lab reel as one long media clip into FCP (8 reels in total)
- Creat subclips for each scene and for sync'ing audio.
Everything worked out fine except for 1 lab reel. During the DVCam dupe, the TC jumped by 1 frame half way into the reel. So in the last half of this reel, the address track is 1 frame off (comparing to the burned in TC). Luckily, the TC jump didn't occur during any important scene.
Since making another DVCam dupe was not an option (long story about working in Asia), I thought of a way around this. I divided this reel into 2 sections at the point where the TC jump occured. I created an Auxiliary Code for the section with the 'bad' TC so that the Aux Code matches the burned in TC.
Now the rough cut is done. I need to export an EDL to re-telecine the neg for full grading.
My question: is it a bad idea to do an EDL with both regular TC and Aux Codes? Or should I just change the TC on the 'bad' reel ?

You're probably fine using the Aux TC in your EDL.
In that case, should I create Aux TC for the lab reels with the correct TC as well (with the Aux TC being the same as the address track? That way the EDL would only deal with just the Aux TC rather than a mixture of regular TC and Aux TC.

I don't have access to a deck that allows preset TC. Would it be the same if I just change the TC on the bad section? I know that typically it's not advisable to change TC in media clips. But in this case, it's just the dailies, not the final media.

Stolen laptops - tracing the MAC adresses

We have had a number of laptop thefts in recent months and would be able to track some of these thefts if only we had the MAC addresses! When new laptops are stolen just after delivery there is no record whatever of either their wireless or NIC MAC addresses which could be used to locate their use on our network and on the networks of other HE Institutions. It appears that Toshiba doesn't keep a record of serial number and MAC address.
A plea to Toshiba: when will you start keeping a record of MAC addresses against serial numbers?
Although we appreciate that software is available to change MAC addresses would it not be valid to record the addresses for each laptop on issue?
At least we would stand a fighting chance of tracking the laptop in use..???

Anyway did you check the bottom of one of the Toshiba units???
I found on my notebooks underside different labels with different numbers.
There is a label with the serial number, model number and you will of course find two labels with LAN MAC address and with the WLan Mac address.
I think its no problem for everyone to note these numbers and addresses

Of course its possible to find out the Mac address but how do you want to find the notebook with such Mac address? Do you want to track the whole www???

What is "Assign Source Video" and "Assign Source A1"

From time to time, on the very left of the timeline, there is another tab area that sometimes show "V" on the video track and "A1" on the audio track. When I right click on the area there will be a new option saying "Assign Source Video" and "Assign Source A1".
What is that? I look on the online help and couldn't find info on this.

I've mostly worked on After Effects, but I've worked on these books long enough to be able to say this: I wrote those big, thick books that you're talking about. And I swear to you that you get more pages, more information, and better information for CS5 than you ever got in one of those printed books.
You characterization of the Classroom in a Book is mistaken. Even when there was a printed Help document, there was also a Classroom in a Book (CiB). The CiB is a lesson-based guide for beginners, not a reference book. The CiB is made by a company other than Adobe. It and the Help have no relation to one another.

Exclamation marks and duplicates

A while ago I messed up when copying my library to and exhd. Anyway I have cocked up again in a different way and I have 3 copies of songs in my itunes library, one of each has no tick next to it because I went through the whole library weeks ago and unchecked one of everything, these also have an exclamation mark next to them. Then some have exclamation marks and ticks.
Confused? I am!
Anyway what I want to know is whether I can somehow delete the whole library and then just somehow get one of everything back, or somehow bulk delete these exclamation lists?
My ipod is on autosync so I daren't connect it incase I lose some things or end up with tthousands of duplicates on the ipod.

iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder is the file where iTunes stores the information about your library, tracks, ratings, counts, playlists.
You drag it to the desk top so iTunes can't find it and creates a new empty library. The desktop is just a convenient place to put it without deleting it, you might want to put it back.
When you add your music folder to iTunes, all the tracks with exclamation marks will be gone and you will only have entries for the files actually in your iTune music folder. This only addresses tracks with exclamation marks which are dead links, it does nothing about duplicate files.
