IP Pool doesn't apply the DNS configuration to Linux based vm

Hi,
Under scvmm 2012r2, I created a IP Pool in my virtual switch as follow :
IP subnet : 192.168.1.0/24 (192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200)
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3
Then I created some templates using the IP Pool. From these templates, when I created a Windows vm, all is OK. When i created a Linux based vm like RHEL6, only the IP address and gateway were applied. The DNS setting was missing in the new created
vm.
Thanks for your help !

Hello,
Here is the output of resolv.conf :

  • [SOLVED] Gnome doesn't apply the theme to new opened windows

    Hi,
I'm using Gnome as desktop environment, but encountered a really annoying issue .
I want to change the theme and therefore do the following "Right click on desktop -> "Change desktop background" -> Theme -> "Darklooks". All opened windows (as well as the panels) get now dark, just as expected. But as soon as I open up a new windows (or add something to a panel) it doesn't get affected by the theme, but it is display with the standard bright grey. After changing the theme again (I have to choose another first, and then go back to "Darklooks") all "new" windows get dark also.
As I'm not happy with this situation I ask you for help? What is wrong with my Gnome?

  • 11gr2 Rac Install: Stuck at the DNS SCAN portion.

    Hi Guys, it's Xev.
Ok, I have followed his install guide to the dot. http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-db-11gr2-rac-installation-on-oel5-using-virtualbox.php#install_grid_infrastructure
During the Grid Infrastructure install portion, it's stops me and tells me that "No Locally adapter is defined" when I am right here, it won't let me past this point right below...
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/images/ol5-112-rac/47-grid-ssh-connectivity.jpg
Now, this install document, tells you to put the 3 SCAN Ip addresses in the /ect/hosts file and does not tell you that you need to install DNS on a server and configure it, or does he? The way he says it to
    me just doesn't make sense.
My question is to only people that have actually installed 11gr2 RAC using VirtualBox and using oracle linux 5.8.
He says in the install document this right here, but some how i think he is just flat out wrong.
I quote from the install document,,,
If you are not using DNS, the "/etc/hosts" file must contain the following information.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    # Public
    192.168.0.101 ol5-112-rac1.localdomain ol5-112-rac1
    192.168.0.102 ol5-112-rac2.localdomain ol5-112-rac2
    # Private
    192.168.1.101 ol5-112-rac1-priv.localdomain ol5-112-rac1-priv
    192.168.1.102 ol5-112-rac2-priv.localdomain ol5-112-rac2-priv
    # Virtual
    192.168.0.103 ol5-112-rac1-vip.localdomain ol5-112-rac1-vip
    192.168.0.104 ol5-112-rac2-vip.localdomain ol5-112-rac2-vip
    # SCAN
    192.168.0.105 ol5-112-scan.localdomain ol5-112-scan
    192.168.0.106 ol5-112-scan.localdomain ol5-112-scan
    192.168.0.107 ol5-112-scan.localdomain ol5-112-scan
Note. The SCAN address should not really be defined in the hosts file. Instead is should be defined on the DNS to round-robin between 3 addresses on the same subnet as the public IPs. For this installation, we will compromise and use the hosts file. This is not possible if you are using 11.2.0.2 onward.
If you are using DNS, then only the first line needs to be present in the "/etc/hosts" file. The other entries are defined in the DNS, as described here. Having said that, I typically include all but the SCAN addresses..
    END QUOTE.
So, Guys, what does he actually mean with this? MY Grid install fails when it's trying to resolved the scan. DO I need to install DNS like he gives in the link above, OR can the install work with the SCAN in the /ect/hosts file? I Personally think this is just wrong, and you have to have DNS working 3 ip round-robin for the SCAN to work.
Please only reply to this thread if you have actually successfully installled 11rg2 Rac (11.0.1) on Oracle Linux 5.8 using VirtualBox, or actually know where i am going wrong by your own experience, not just goggle searching.....but you got it to work....
I am begging on my knees for help with this, since I have been at this for weeks now.
If you help me through this, I'll be your friend
    Xev.

  • Noise reduction works in preview but doesn't apply to file

I have a file that I would like to apply noise reduction to. So in the tasks menu I click Clean Up Audio, then under Noise I click Noise... From there I can play with the Noise settings and get it to clean up nicely. But when I hit OK, it doesn't apply the noise reduction. It seems to be doing something to the audio because the waveform changes.. just not reducing the noise as previewed. Anybody know why it wouldn't be applying the effect? Other audio editing options seem to work just fine.

It is a 16 bit 44.1 kHz mono sound effect.. it is noisy and sounds like it could have been 8 bit at some point in its life cycle.

  • PPP-assigned DNS Configuration

I am using wvdial and it successfully connects to the Internet but then it gives this error: "Timeout waiting for the PPP-assigned DNS configuration."  I searched the web for this and found a Russian website and a Spanish website.  I can read neither.
How do I set up PPP to give the DNS configuration to wvdial?  I know what DNS addresses I want to use, but not how to implement them.  I put them in /etc/resolv.conf as "nameserver IP".  What do I put in for the "search <domainname>" line?

But it does not work!  I have resolv.conf set up like I said, with no search line, but I get that "Timeout..." error.  wvdial does successfully connect to the Internet, but none of my programs realize this.  I can not ping anything.  I know I am connected to the Internet because the modem makes its usual sounds as it connects and when I pick up a telephone I get the usual screeching noise, but nothing responds to the connection!  I simply assume that this timeout error is the cause because I see no other errors.

    Typical flow is as follows
    1. Client will hit their DNS servers (configured on their machines as primary/backup dns server).
    2. "Client's DNS server" will query "DNS server authoritative for abc.com" for www.abc.com.
    3. "DNS server authoritative for abc.com" will ask "client's DNS server" to query "GSS - Authoritative for www.abc.com"
    4. "Client's DNS server" will query GSS for www.abc.com.
    5. GSS will send the ip add of www.abc.com (which should be configured on ACE as VIP).
    6. "Client's DNS server" will handover this VIP to client
    7. Client will hit the VIP configured on ACE (for application www.abc.com).

    First close Photoshop.
Then start Photoshop by double-clicking on it's icon and very quickly after that, hold down the ctrl-alt-shift keys until you see the reset dialog. answer "Yes" to delete settings, and let Photoshop continue to load.
It's tricky to do and may take a few tries, but at least it should reset Photoshop CC 2014 to defaults.

I can't install adobe reader on PC/windows 7, Message: windows installer doesn't permit updating managed adversed products. at least one feature of the product must be installed before applying the update.

I have no idea what that message means; try uninstalling using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html then download and reinstall the latest Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Why doesn't LDAP Priority and Weight change entry in the DNS?

We have two Windows 2008 servers that are Active Directory Domain Controllers.  They seem to be configured properly, and are talking to each other.
I want one of the domain controllers to authenticate all of the logins because it's a more powerful box.  I want the second DC to take over if the first goes down.
I went into the Registry on the old machine, and created two 32 bit Dword registry keys as follows:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters.
    LdapSrvPriority
    and
    LdapSrvWeight.
Set these to 5 and 150.  Assumed the default on the faster server was 0 and 100, thus making the newer server the default choice for logon authentication.
Rebooted server.   Checked DNS, and it still is reporting 0 100 for both servers, and doing an
echo %LOGONSERVER% on various workstations seems to show that authentication is roundrobining between both servers.
Why aren't these settings sticking? And why weren't they in the registry when I started? Thanks

    Hi,
I tested and DNS record changed as expected.
So please make sure DC you changed point to the DNS that you check. Because there will be some delay before records replicated to another DNS.
You can also check timestamp of the record if it is the latest change.
You can trigger a DNS registration manually:

  • Internet sharing works but the DNS part doesn't

I'm posting this message because I believe it is a bit different from other 'Lion internet sharing' posts in terms of the source of sharing and also the results I get.
Similar to other users experiencing the same problem, my internet sharing setup stopped working as expected after upgrading to Lion. However, I can't say it stopped working completely. It still does work but the DNS part doesn't. This means I can still perform pings, ssh and socket connections from computers using the shared connection. But I cannot browse the internet because web site names can't be resolved.
For example, my MacPro has two Ethernet interfaces. On one of them (en0) I vpn when connecting to work using a VPN service I created via System Preferences => Network. I used to share that VPN connection to computers using the 2nd one (en1). The other computers are linked to (en1) through a multiport hub. This setup used to work flawlessly in Snow Leopard and multiple users could use the shared vpn internet connection.
After the upgrade to Lion I can still see other computers on the local network and also ping any external internet site. I can even use Safari and navigate my ISP's home page using its IP address only. However, DNS doesn't work and internet domains cannot be resolved by name so internet browsing is not possible.
Furthermore, when I don't VPN to work but simply share the connection to the internet from (en0) to computers using (en1) everything works as it used to in Snow Leopard. The difference here is that the same DNS servers are used by both network services.
So far I'm stuck with these findings and I don't know where else to look for answers. Any input or feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've to admit that i don't even know what VPN means.. but..
I have an 27" iMac (mid 2010), a iPhone 4 and a Macbook Pro 13" (mid 2009) .. and i used to share my ethernet connection to wi-fi on Snow Leopard. Since i upgraded to Lion (i'm using it since the first DP, and i think the internet sharing was working under the 1st DP .. i'm not pretty sure), it just doesn't work.
Just like solongpc, it does activate the internet sharing, my other devices can see and connect but neither of then (my iMac - host or my mbp and iphone) can navigate on the internet. And when i turn off my internet sharing (on my iMac), it still not acessing any website.. and i've to restart my moden.

  • How can i configure maps voices? I have the original configuration (standard) and doesn't work

    Hi
I have an Iphone 5 and doesn't work the voices for navegation (maps app)
Is there any special configuration requiered
This feature is very important due i could drive without looking at the phone
Thanks in advance for your support

    Thanks!!
Yes, I'm in Chile....sad to hear that this feature is not available everywhere... Those voices should just follow the indications given by maps because maps gives the info about turn left or right so there should be just voices recorded with those standard indications, then this feature would be available everywhere
    But OK...
    Anyways, Thanks for your answer!!!

  • Where does the ACS server get the DNS info for IP pools?

I am trying to change the DNS servers that my VPN users are assigned from the IP pools on the ACS server. Where does the IP pools get the DNS server information. I have changed the DNS Ips on the windows server and rebooted. But the VPN clients are still being assigned the old DNS servers.

ACS ip pools do not push DNS server information
It is either being forwarded from VPN concentrator group setup or
    it is being send from ACS user/group setup > Radius(VPN 3000) attributes > [026/3076/005] Primary-DNS.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why doesn't the "Command Number" keyboard shortcut apply the colored label to the selected image?

Why doesn't the "Command Number" keyboard shortcut apply the colored label to the selected image?  The similar keyboard shortcut to assign stars works, but the shortcut to assign a label color doesn't?

Just to be sure they haven;t been reassigned in your Aperture go to Aperture->Commands->Customize then in the search box in the upper right hand corner enter color.
You should see the keyboard shortcuts and the corresponding add label commands.
If they are set then quit Aperture move you preference file to the desktop and restart Aperture. The instructions for moving the preference file can be found at Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
