Ipa publish settings woes

Hi I'm trying to get my 'Test.ipa' compiled.
But I can't get my ipa to compile - when I hit 'Publish' button, the dialogue asks me where to save 'Test.exe'
(-surely that should be 'Test.ipa'?)
Then a progress bar whizzed by, but no 'Test.ipa' appears..
I have previously made apps for the app store, so I know a bit about provisioning files etc.
I updated director 12 with hotfix4
I created a new provisioning profile for the app using a wildcard bundle identifier
I am using my developer profile
Also confused about what to do with 'info.plist'
The documentation breezily states:
"You can use the template info.plist from the /Configuration/Publish iOS Resources/ folder and make changes to it as needed by your app."
-so I made a copy of info.plist, put it in my project folder, and point the publish settings at it..
What settings would I need to change?
the documentation also says:
"..values for the following fields are picked up from the iOS tab at the time of publishing"
so i assume that by editing the iOs publish settings info plist gets the info it needs?
Or what?

"File" -> "Publish Settings" -> "Formats"
Check for "iOS Projector" and uncheck everything else. Make sure you really picked a name that ends with *.ipa in the field where the filename is specified.
"File" -> "Publish Settings" -> "iOS"
Here you put in all the info that is needed and that has to be correct with the provisioning file and the other stuff apple invented to make things secure.
The "info.plist" (you can open it by just doubleclicking) will contain all the infos that are related to the app. I guess it would be better if this file would also be produces with director and you would get some interface to insert icons, splashscreens and the other settings, but somehow it is this way now.
You can add for example this key to the info.plist that tells your app to deal with the retina display:
DIR_disable_retina YES
YES is the value you have to add. This will turn off retina if not needed.

  • Publish Settings for iOS provisioning

    Under http://helpx.adobe.com/director/using/publishing-ios-devices-using-director.html#id_27206 there is a bullet point titled, Provisioning File Path For Signing The App.
    There it says, 'Download the mobile Provisioning file path after creating it and then point the file to the "Provisioning file path for signing the app" field.'
    What does that mean? I didn't know it's possible to download a file path! In that last quotation, should Adobe have said "file", not "file path"? Should Adobe have said, "select the file by clicking on the Provisioning File Path for signing the app field"?
    In Director's Publish Settings window, there is a button labeled "…" to the right of that Provisioning File Path for signing the app field. When I click it, I see a file opening dialog window that initially shows contents of a "Provisioning Profiles" folder. I see four mysteriously-named files showing there, and I cannot figure out which one I should choose. I can't even find those four files or that "Provisioning Profiles" folder on my computer (I searched using the OS X Finder).
    Also, Adobe should revise http://helpx.adobe.com/director/using/publishing-ios-devices-using-director.html#id_27206 to explain this better.

    If Adobe did revise that web page I linked to, they should clear up two other things:
    First, on that page, it says:
    "You can use the template info.plist from the /Configuration/Publish iOS Resources/ folder and make changes to it as needed by your app."
    In my Director (with the hotfix2 update installed), the field that quotation refers to is pre-filled with Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Director 12:Configuration:Projector iOS Resources:Info.plist so /Configuration/Publish iOS Resources/ is wrong.
    Second, on that page it gives a final instruction to "Click Publish." It gives no hint of what to do next.
    Publishing creates a file in the same folder as the Director movie source file used to make it. That new file's name ends with a .ipa extension.
    I wish there were links to apple.com web pages that explain what to do with the published file.
    For testing, here is what I did: On my computer, double-clicking that .ipa file caused iTunes to launch. I clicked the button for my connected iPad, seen in the upper-right of the iTunes window. In the toobar that stretches across the top of the window, I clicked on Apps. I clicked the Install button. I clicked the Apply button in the lower-right corner of the window.
    An icon for my test app showed on the iPad. I tapped it and the app launched successfully.
    I hope that this explanation helps somebody, and that Adobe fixes that web page.

  • Correct Flash CS6 iOS publish settings for iPhone?

    My programmer and I are trying to publish an iOS app for iPhone from Flash cs6 and are being rejected because "Your app did not run at iPhone resolution and/or 2x iPhone 3GS resolution when reviewed on iPad. The contents of your app are not displayed within the confines of the screen."
    In Flash CS6 iOS publish settings there is an option to export for iPad Only, iPhone Only, and for iPad and iPhone. iTunes Connect is sending us a screenshot that shows what we see when we publish a development IPA file using the iPad and iPhone setting. But the IPA file we submitted to them was published using the iPhone Only settings which when viewed on the iPad2 shows up inside the little iPhone 1X frame and can be expanded to 2X as well. I believe this is what they are saying is not happening when they do the same.
    Has anyone else who uses Flash had this issue? If so what stage size and what publish settings should be used when trying to create an iPhone only app?
    Thanks in advance, Patrick

    iPhone only app should be published with stage size:
    640x960 for portrait view
    960x640 for landscape view
    ... if the app are going to be fullscreen.

  • The publishing settings page does not open when I click on the domain name and the iWeb application will not stay on the dock.

    Hello,
    I have been trying to help a friend who is having problems publishing her website. (She has done so previously using Mobile me)
    There seem to be a couple of things wrong with the application,
    1     if I drag the application icon onto the dock, it won't stay there
    2     I wanted to change where her site is published to (she has bought a domain name and has a hosting service now) but when I click on the domain name I do not get the "site publishing settings page" so we can't enter the new details.  All that comes up is the main page of her website.
    I would suggest uninstalling and re-installing Iweb, to see if that clears the problem, but as Iweb came pre-installed with her Imac, I am not sure that we can do this.
    Any ideas please?
    she's using and imac 24 in (approx 4 years old) and running osx 10.5.8

    NO - not correct.  Even if you are still using iWeb 08, you can still publish to another host and not MobileMe.  You do this by selecting the option 'Publish to a local folder" and this will publish the site to your desktop and you can then use an ftp programme such as Cyberduck to upload your site to your host.
    MobileMe will not be here after the end of June, so you will have to find alternative hosting.  They are not taking any new subscriptions.
    On new Macs, iLife 11 is pre-installed, but only iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are included, not iWeb and iDVD. The Apple Online store is not selling the boxed version of iLife 11 any longer, so if you want to upgrade to iLife, then you'll have to look online at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for a boxed set of either iLife 09 or iLife 11.  Both contains iWeb 09, which is what you would want.

  • Failed to import publish settings file in Azure Toolkit for Eclipse with Java downloaded from Azure Management Portal

    I tried to deploy the Hello World JSP application to Azure from Eclipse following the instructions at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/azure/hh690944%28VS.103%29.aspx. Got the following error when trying to import Publish Settings file downloaded from Azure

    Could someone help me solve this problem? Thanks.

    Hi huihuang,
    It seems there is some issue with your publishsettings file, could you open this file and copy the content here? Or please have a look at this article:

  • Flash CS5.5[Publish Settings]: How to include custom Metadata tags in swf?

    In Flash CS5, the 'Publish Settings' for the fla had an 'Export SWC' checkbox that took care of that.
    The option is missing. Why was it removed and how can  that be done in 5.5?

    Thanks sinious, but, it doesn't work.
    Let me elaborate on what I want to do:
    I'm trying to create a swf in Flash CS5.5, that's using a flex library (swc) that relies on Metadata tags (anotations).
    I need to use the metadata tags in my as3 code (in the fla), and They need to be compiled into the swf (by Flash CS5.5 compiler...).
    Although, when I load that swf, the metadata tags aren't compiled into it (I'm using describeType to check if tags are available in the swf).
    In flex, I would use the '-kepp-as3-metadata+=' compiler setting to do that, in Flash CS4 & CS5 I used the 'Export SWC' in the publish settings, but that's removed (WHY???).
    Checking XMP Metadata didn't change that, the tags are still not included in the compiled swf.
    Anyone?

  • Publish settings Export frame set to 2 kills flvPlayback

    To let my tiny preloader show up before its at 75% I changed
    the export frame for classes to 2 in the publish settings. This
    works for the preloader but now the flvPlayback doesnt work.
    (except it does still work if I hit control enter a second time and
    watch my preloder work.Bizzare!) The .flw file still wont playback
    the .flv's when run on its own. Changing the export frame back to
    "1" and all is fine except the preloader is a no show till it's at
    75% or so.
    Dosent seem to be any way to change properties for the
    playback component itself.
    help please. The last thread I saw on this subject had no
    resolution and was from 2005.
    ff

    wow, you waited a whole of 10 minutes to complain you're not
    getting help?
    You might want to rethink that strategy, or you'll likely not
    get any help
    at all.
    Things export in the frame their in, unless you specify
    otherwise.
    A more proper way to make a preloader is to use a separate
    movie, and load
    the content into an empty movie clip. Then you can use
    MovieClipLoader, and
    accurately monitor and display the dl.

  • Flash CC crashes after publishing iOS app + publish settings are not being saved to file

    I have two issues:
    1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
    2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
    1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
    Since yesterday Flash CC keeps crashing right after I publish an iOS app. The app is published correctly though. I tried everything from restarting my MAC, reinstalling Flash, removing the folder "Flash CC 2014" inside Application Support/Adobe. But all this did not work.
    2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
    Since the first day I installed Flash CC, it did not save my publish settings along with the .fla-file. I never had this issue with Flash CS 5.5. This was not a very big issue, but now every time I publish an app and Flash CC crashes I have to fill in all the publish settings manually. Now I'm getting frustrated. Even saving my settings as a preset, storing it inside a folder and importing it again, won't help. Then I will get the message: "Import failed: invalid profile file."
    Can please anyone help me with these issues? It is quite time consuming to continuously enter the settings manually after every crash.
    Thanks!

  • 10.0.2 update breaks AIR publish settings option

    Since updating to 10.0.2, I have been unable to access the AIR settings (File -> AIR Settings) for my FLA file which is published as AIR 1.5.
    I get an JavaScript error pop up about "Apollo_OpenSettingsDialog.jsfl" every time I click on the menu option. The same thing happens when accessing the AIR settings through File -> Publish Settings -> Flash (tab) -> Player [Adobe AIR 1.5] (settings).
    This has rendered my previously working AIR project totally unusable as I can no longer make any changes to the AIR settings. Four months of work is now inaccessible.
    Any ideas how to resolve this?

    Phew! Just got it working again.
    Had to republish the .swf file and more importantly (I think) this also recreated the application descriptor file, both of which had been moved from their original locations. Once Flash could see these files I could access the AIR settings without the error message.
    I think I might report this as a bug as the pop up error panels should not be the way of alerting a user about an error - they're not very user-friendly!

  • Bug: Publish Settings Target Directory resets on open

    Using Edge Animate (EA) CC version 2.0.1.268.25632
    Windows 8
    Reproduction:
    Create new file. Save in project folder.
    Open Publish Settings and change Target Directory (in my case to a few directories above).
    Publish and save file.
    Close EA and reopen.
    Open file from Welcome screen and check publish settings target directory.
    For me it is always reset to .\publish\directory
    Is this expected behaviour. If not, is there a way to fix it?
    Many thanks,
    Patrick

    Joe, I can confirm this issue, as well (Win 8.1 / 64bit).
    Patrick, I guess for the interim, a workaround is to keep the default settings - publishing to a sub-folder under the project parent folder.

  • Actionscript 2 and Flash Publish Settings

    Hi Everyone,
    I have posted a couple questions as of late and received fantastic support from other members (Thanks K-Glad).
    I do have what I'm assuming to be a basic question however I cannot find an answer for it.
    I added some login script to a page as listed below.
    stop();
    eval("$version");
    appname="mikesapp"
    loadVariablesNum("http://bars.bevinco.com/mike/newlogin.php", 0, "POST");
    //This verifys the users status and forwards them to the portion of the website they are authorized to access. Frame 100 = Regional Access, Frame 200 = Franchise Access, Frame 300 = Employee Access and Frame 400 = Denied Access and Back Button
    this.onEnterFrame = function () {
        if(_root.checklog == 100){
            _root.gotoAndStop(5);
        if(_root.checklog == 200){
            _root.gotoAndStop(10);
        if(_root.checklog == 300){
            _root.gotoAndStop(15);
        if(_root.checklog == 999){
            _root.gotoAndStop(20);
    My Question
    When testing this movie, I found that it was not moving to the section of the flash file that is relative to their "authorization level". I.E. I manually had my PHP echo back to flash, advising that REGIONAL ACCESS was used therefore it should be move this user to FRAME 5 of the file.
    I found that it was staying stuck on the first frame and not moving beyond the 1st frame which I thought had something to do with the stop(); that is listed at the top of the actionscript.
    However, when I changed the FLASH PUBLISH settings from Flash Player 8 to Flash Player 6, it works flawlessly.
    I attempted to publish using Flash 7 however it appears FLASH 6 is as high as I can go without loosing it's functionality.
    I'm curious WHY and will this limit our users from using the site if they have a lower version of Flash installed on their CPU?
    I have attached the project FLA file and the PHP file, being used on the server to manually tell this file that a REGIONAL has signed in or someone with "100" level status.
    As always, thanks in advance to anyone that has taken the time to read this post.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    checklog is a string (even though it looks like a number to you).  flash 6 allowed quite a bit more code sloppiness than later versions.  so, it's very common for users to find publishing for fp6 works, while publishing for fp's higher breaks their code.
    you should use:
    this.onEnterFrame = function () {
        if(_root.checklog == "100"){
    delete this.onEnterFrame
            _root.gotoAndStop(5);
        if(_root.checklog == "200"){
    delete this.onEnterFrame
            _root.gotoAndStop(10);
        if(_root.checklog == "300"){
    delete this.onEnterFrame
            _root.gotoAndStop(15);
        if(_root.checklog == "999"){
    delete this.onEnterFrame
            _root.gotoAndStop(20);

  • Universal publish settings for a particular project?

    i was wondering if it was possible to set up a universal publishing directory for a given project so that i do not have to go and manually change the publish settings for each individual .fla.
    any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks
    angus

    Gustavo,
    Your end result should be DVD, which is 720 x 480 NTSC or 720 x 576 PAL.
    Use a SD widescreen sequence setting and downrez your HDV or let the camera do that for you by capturing SD format. If you have captured HDV, you can either downrez by using Motion/Scale to fit your SD resolution or use Scale to frame. The latter has a small drawback in that it will result in small black bars left and right, that will normally not show up when played on a TV.

  • Don't have the "swc" option in publish settings dialog

    Hi. I'm trying to use flash cs5 to build a custom preloader for a flex4 app. I'm a complete newbie to flash cs5
    I'm trying to follow this example:
    http://www.leavethatthingalone.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/11/11/Flex4CustomPreloader
    but I can´t publish my fla into an swc file (I don't have that checkbox in my publish settings dialog)
    So I never get to the Linkage box to check "Export for Action Script", "Export in Frame 1" and add my class and base class names.
    I'm pretty sure I'm just being blind... Can't find that.
    Could someone give me a hand? Online help proposes to publish as swc but I don't have that option in publish settings.

  • Issue with publish settings: html and swf files

    In Flash CS5.5 when selecting, Publish Settings: html and swf, the html file does not display the swf from the URL after ftp. The swf file, however, does display from the URL without the html file. My work around has been to hand code the html. Is this a known issue or is there something else that might be causing this to occur?

    Here are two examples created by two different students in the same lab using the same software configurations:
    http://www.miszxbrii.byethost13.com/howellanimatic.html
    The first frame of this one displays only.
    http://vaivadesigns.byethost3.com/YoungMidterm/YoungMidterm.html
    Here it is again with a new html page:
    http://vaivadesigns.byethost3.com/YoungMidterm/midterm.html
    The swf path was the documents folder and another folder on the HD.
