Hi, I'm considering buying the new iPad but I have a question on gaming. If I buy an iPad game with an iPhone equivalent, will my progress sync over? For example I have Cut the Rope on my iPhone and I have beaten most of the game. If I buy Cut the Rope HD on the iPad I am considering buying, will all my data be gone or will it sync somehow? Also, does this work with all games, some, or none?

If you were to download the already purchase iPhone version to the iPad, it should sync game progress, if you enable iCloud and turn on the Documents and Data feature for that game.
If you purchase the HD iPad version - you are in effect purchasing a whole new game and I'm not so sure that the game progress will sync since it really is a different app.
I'm hoping someone else with experience with this issue chimes in, but since they are different apps, I don't think the progress would sync - just my take.

I have watched a bunch of videos on YouTube that allegedly state that by installing an application such as (but not limited to) XCode I can play iPad games on my Macs. I have not been able to get ANYTHING to work. Has Apple or any 3rd party ever came up with a way to play IOS games on OSX? Xcode specifically was stated in the videos as only being able to run on OSX 10.7 or later. Another video said that it requires 10.8.4 or later. I run 10.8.5. Thank you xcfdanyboy; however, I already checked out this guys youtube video (blip.tv/simonvideo). The problem for me is I do not have a google account, and will never voluntarily give google any information about me that would be needed to secure a google account. I do not even visit youtube using the traditional internet (WWW). I have not and will never again trust google after they released their updated "privacy" policy on March 1 2011 (or 2012). I do not even their search engine any more (sadly because I loved it).

Nope, the 2nd suggestion also requires me to divulge info to google. Thank you again for both of your suggestions, they will just not work for me. I guess I may be relegated to playing on my Lady's game on her Ipad unless I buy my own Ipad some day. Although I really do not want to drop another $700+ for another Ipad simply so I can play a free game. Who knows.

Search the Apple Store, there are many many words games in the style of Scarbble, inluding Scrabble itself. What rules they have and what types of words they allow Is hard to say. But you can download some free versions and try them out to see how they play, and what they allow.

You need to punch in the passcode for any purchase right, not just for new apps??
If one of the other students, or anyone else, got access to your iTunes Store account, necessary to make any purchases, then they'd have all the information they'd need to also make in-app purchases. But an in-app purchase can only be made through the account through which the original app was purchased. Either your son bought the game (free or paid) and then shared it with someone else along with the account information (necessary to authorize the app on someone else's device), or someone else downloaded the game as well, not just made in-app purchases.
In any case, changing your iTunes Store password should now have cut off any such unauthorized activity, though of course if your son gives the new password out, you'll be back to square one.

This is from page 252 of the iPad user guide BOOK that is available as a free download in the iBooks store. I may have misled you as to this being a community board per se. However is is a social gaming experience where I believe that you can post messages to friends, receive notifications and things of that nature.
The iPad user guide would certainly come in handy and as stated you can download the book in iBooks, it is available as a bookmark in Safari and here is the link to the PDF version.

The iTunes Store does allow purchases via PayPal, but only in the US. If you're in another country, PayPal is not available as a payment method.

iPad games only work on iOS devices - you can't copy them onto tablets running other operating systems. You will need to buy separate Android versions.

IPhone 4 to iPad - game data restoring

Hi I just bought my new iPad - and this is the situation I have.
I currently have an iPhone 4 and i set up an account (A) for itunes - to purchase apps and music, use this account (A) as well for iCloud and Game Center.
For the iPad, I setup another account (B) for iCloud and Game Center (as this device will be used by all my family members) and I will use the other account (A) for the itunes - to purchase apps and music.
If I had the same game downloaded on the iPhone 4 and iPad - how is it possible to transfer my existing game data from iPhone 4 to iPad.

I do the same thing. 16gb wifi ipad 2 and teather to my ATT iphone 4... I too get the chain link, and at times it does not work as well. What I do, is turn my ipad off, and then back on.. And then reestablish my link. All is well after that.
I have not had a chance to try it since the most recent update to both devices, so unaware if the new updates fixed the problem, but it does seem like a bug to me.

HT4314 How do I change the Game Center login name...I've has issues with getting GC to align my iPad game to the iPhone correctly.

I have been playing a game on the iPad (called D.S.F) & then wanted to link it to my iPhone with Game Center.
The problem is when it tried doing it...It asked me to choose a game name on the iPhone and I used the one I was using on the iPad but it didn't like as it said the name was taken.
So I set another name up and then thinking I could simply change the required name in DSF game settings to align the game but instead the game fully reset itself and I lost the existing game levels I was on the iPad.
After uninstalling the game on both devices & reloading them a few times, I established that when I turned off Game Center and reinstalled the game on the iPad then I got the game reloaded picking up from where I was initially.
The short of this blurb is that somehow I need to change the Game Center name for the game I'm playing so it links correctly and I'm not sure how to do that.
It's the name in Game Center that's linked to the iPhone new game that is the problem and it's the one I need to correct.
Any advice?

Go to start menu
Type REGEDIT into the search
Select find under the edit tab
Type the exact name you wish to correct
correct every entry by clicking on the entry> and then clicking edit>select modify>then correct only the portion of the name you wish to correct> then click ok> go back to edit and click find next> repeat the process for each entry in the registry until the screen says finished>restart windows and plug in your ipad. ENJOY
