IPad has us locked out

Apple associate suggested we back up the iPad and update the software, we did just that and now it has us locked out asking for a PUK?

For anyone running across this, I found the answer on here after 24 hours!!! There is a little key in your box that your iPad came in, that will pop out the sim card and if you remove the sim (remeber to pop back in the holder, you don't want to loose that) Once the Sim card was out we were able to restore the iPad with our back up and have one happy kids and one relieved mama

I cannot get into my ipad because icloud has me locked out because of no backup for 2 weeks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

Since updating my iPad 2 to IOS6 and activating my icloud for backup, my iPad has permanently locked. Message on screen is "iPad Not Backed Up". I click ok but no response. Cannot turn power off and cannot restore via my pc itunes. What are my options?

Thanks to everyone who responded and related subject helped. Holding the home button and power button simultaneously for 10-15 seconds does unlock the screen. I can now use my ipad again. However, a futher problem has arisen since updating to IOS6 and activating icloud at same time, Although not sure if its related. The problem is that when connected to my PC the itunes message appears 'Cannot read ipad'. It instructs you to restore but keeps timing out after about 1 hour. This maybe internet issue but can't understand why itunes cannot read my ipad. May need to completely erase all content & reset. Or any other suggestions why this has happened?

My usual Apple ID/iCloud account has been locked out.  I tried the email link - didn't receive an email.   So I created a new Apple ID with another email but now I can't access my other Apple ID Mail, etc..  How do I get the Apple ID I want to use working again?   Help.

    Hi JkeeneSoldano,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To regain access to your Apple ID, try to reset your password using one of these methods:
Answer your security questions. Use these steps if you know the answers to your security questions.
Use email authentication. We'll send you an email that you can use to change your password.
Use two-step verification. If you set up two-step verification, you can use it to change your password. You just need your recovery key and a trusted device.

  • My wifes iPad has a lock sign against it . . .

My wife's iPad has a lock sign against her Home WIFI and she can  only use WIFI through nearby spots.  How do I unlock it for her, please?   I've tried the turning off and Home button together but t hat doesn't work.   TIA.

The lock is normal.  It means you network is secured and requires a password.
The password is case sensitive, enter it together, one of you watching the screen to make sure upper and lower case is correct.   Make sure you are entering letter O or number 0
Have you connected mobile devices before?
Is your router a push to connect?   (After pushing button you have 2 minutes to enter password and connect)
What happens after you enter password?  Does it say, failure to join network?
What router and internet speed do you have?
I find a dual channel, 2.4 and 5 GHZ router connect well.   Older single channel and 2.4 GHZ only are very poor at connecting to most mobile devices.

  • Resetting my password on ipad. Now locked out

Cannot use my Ipad. Password has been locked. Will not comunicate with the computer as a device. How do I recover?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Bought new ipad 3, but locked out?

I bought the ipad 3 new as a gift. When my friend turned on the ipad, it said that it was locked. He is using it outside of the US. I know this can happen on used ipads but I bought it new and the store did not indicate that it was a floor model. Is there a solution? Thanks!

Demo, when I bought my first iPad in an Apple store in the US, I specifically asked the sales person in the Apple store whether the iPad was locked to AT & T and after consulting with someone else in the store, he told me it was!!  I then researched the issue online and thus found out that iPads are not locked to any carrier.  I went back to the same store and asked again and got the same reply.
I decided to buy it nonetheless and, of course, I took it to Europe, got a microsim from my iPhone carrier and everything worked well.  Fortunately my carrier allows clients to use iPhones and iPads on the same data plan for the same price.  If you exceed the 3G limit on either, both will connect to 2G until the limit resets at the end of the month.
I did the same last summer with my iPad2 and as I am again in the US (I live 50% in Europe, 50% in the US) now I have bought an iPad3 and I am confident when the time comes to put in my European Sim card, everything will be fine.
