IPad1 has just gone off. Battery was on 40%. No response when I plug it in to charge and no repsonse at all when I attach to computer. Only had it since March 2011.

Many thanks for this information; iPad is now back up and running. As I'm in the UK the iPad ,via the respective digests,is the only way I can access "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report". So truthiness  still prevails.

    Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.     Let me also copy and repeat -- since the developers' club apparently has chosen to not give it any weight or credibility -- a comment by a completely different user, in a different thread:
    "I am using the 64-bit nightly, and it is FAR faster than any release in 32-bit, and I have 2GB of ram. Usually the addon compatibility thing takes minutes, when with the nightly 64-bit, I was done in a matter of seconds. also, I notice that it is faster, pages load faster, there is less lag, and it all around seems better than 32-bit in every aspect, even though it is just automatically compiled and not tweaked."
    So, the developer's club position remains, "there really isn't much need for a 64-bit version", despite comments like that. Hmmm . . .
    Are you SURE you want to stand directly behind that answer, while people shoot at it?

    Here are the best resources to go through when experiencing this issue.
    Resolving issues
    If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
    Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
    Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
    Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
    If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
    Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
    Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
    Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
    If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
    If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • I believe my graphic card has just gone out

    I have a 2008 Mac Pro Tower and (I believe) the graphic card has just gone out. I can still access the tower remotely (via home sharing for Apple TV, etc) but the direct monitor is showing a crazy squiggle pattern (usually about five minutes after the machine initially boots). I've checked, and it's not an issue with the monitor itself.
    If this alone was the issue, I'd feel 99.9% sure I could replace the video card.
    But in addition to the video issue (during those five minutes before the video goes out) the Mac Pro is having random 10 second mini freezes where the mouse or an application launch suddenly stops.
    I'm hoping this mini freezing problem is ALSO related to the graphics card issue. I'd hate to spend the money on the card only to learn that it doesn't still  resolve half the problem.
    Can anyone say whether video card issues could also cause the processor to have clunk issues?

    Cards and options available in 2009-2011 have changed a lot in the meantime as has OS X.

    Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
