You had already done "Repair" and "Rebuild"? These usually takes scores of minutes or hours.
Does the Library on your external drive work from the external drive? Navigate to it in Finder and double-click the name.
If it does, delete the problem Library, empty the System Trash, reboot, Verify your system disk using Disk Utility (and might as well repair permissions while you're at it), reboot, test the external drive Library once more to confirm it works properly, then close it and copy the Library to your system drive. When the copying is done, double-click the Library (now on the system drive) and see what you get.

Manually Manage Music option is GONE...when I plug in my IPHONE (which is already synced to this computer) I can no longer manually manage songs. I have already opted to do this but all my songs are grey and it won't allow me to manage ANY songs?

You will need to restore your phone as a new one using the itunes on your computer. This WILL erase everything on the phone but it will let you change the name of the phone and then you can add content to it.

I'm assuming that Rosersberg is in Sweden (?). If it is then you are in a country where music can't currently be re-downloaded from the store, only apps and ibooks. If you still have your old computer with your music on it then you should be able to copy it over from it e.g. via file sharing, an external drive : copying content.

i think i might have to go into apple hopefully they can do something about it... i also enjoyed using it as an ipod too.
i have most of the pictures off it but the last time i used it i took a few more pics and havent backed up since.

Greyed out songlist on ipod. I've installed latest software. When synching, msg says unable to transfer songs due to timeout. Now many songs on songlist are greyed out and unaccessible. What's happened?

Memory on 64GB ipod touch indicates about 0.88 remaining. But not all songs on playlist being synched are being transferred over and many (3,000 +) are now greyed out (full details shown but not accessible).
Any ideas?
Have already restored Ipod to original settings twice

it can be difficult to find the Knowledge Base documents if you're not familiar with the site. it took me a few weeks before i was comfortable with it.
if i'm looking for KB docs, i usually click on "advanced search" (just below the tab with the apple on it up at the top of the webpage), and select either "ipod for windows" or "itunes for windows".
usually once i find an article that i use a lot, i make a note of the link, or "favorite" it in my web browser.
(this particular article is a bit difficult to find, even if you do a search. the various different symptoms are so varied, that folks aren't likely to realise it's relevant to their problem even if they see the title of it appear in their search results.)

I have updated my iPhone4 to ios5. tried using the photo lib, camera roll and creating new albums. I have also transferred photos to the new album and it great.Is there a way to delete a photo in a single album and not everywhere?

You can sync photos from your computer via iTunes, and each folder that you sync will get its own album : syncing photos. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next sync.
In terms of albums that you create directly on the iPad no, effectively you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you delete the original photo you will therefore also be deleting all pointers to it.
You could consider a third-party photo management app instead e.g. Photo Manager Pro

App store and Music app on IOS 6 is not working. Music has my music, but the title of the songs are grey and when I touch them, nothing happens! The app store. when im on search, it exits the app. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

Okay. I am totally in a bad situtation. I have IOS 6 and 2 things have gone wrong. The Music app where you have your music, is bad. I have songs and stuff. And when i touch a song nothing happens. The letters are grey and nothing happens. The app store is also a problem. The appstore on IOS 6, when im on search and i search for and app, it exits the app store in like 5 seconds. And when i first updated the IOS 6, it was still like that HELP!

I am unable to merge events running iPhoto '11 - 9.4.2 (710.42) and Mountain Lion, 10.8.2. All options on the events down menu are greyed out and I am therefore unable to merge any events. Is there a solution?

I tried to drag one event into another event but was unable to do so. The event that I tried to move into a second one would only move to another position in the event columnn, but it would not merge into another one.

I have about 2,400 songs and only 5 of them i can click and listen on my new ipod touch 5g. i have itunes the newest one, and most of the songs are greyed out also on itunes. so i cant play them on itunes and my ipod. what the ****? i usually download music and drag the file to itunes and also drag it to a folder where i keep all my song files incase it ever needs a "locate file". When i click sync it syncs the music but when it says a song can't be read or written it stops the entire sync process. What do i do?

Do all the songs play in iTunes? If so then:
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Many of my albums are listed in iTMS but match is uploading my local music

I've been an Apple user for over 15 years but for all its simplicity Match more or less stumps me so I am coming here hoping one less muddled can explain this.
I have a library of 21,000 and after its initial trawl iTunes Match seemed to indicate it had found about 4,000 matches. Even for my diverse eclectic taste I thought this a bit low. Shortly after I noticed that a number of albums I had bought from iTMS that were either still protected or were unprotected had been marked for upload. Then looking at my purchased collection form emusic and cd's i had converted many of these too were marked for upload despite any being available for download on iTMS.
It has so far taken a week to get my music uploaded as far as now having more than half of my library on iCloud servers and i've been through all the usual hang and drop nonsense getting that far with about 9000 more to be uploaded. Once I have finished my upload I was hoping to replace a number of cd's and iTMS sourced tracks from iCloud but this does not appear to be the case.
Is there any tip or solution to make iTunes Match associate these albums it is passing over or must i just lump it and accept my low quality copies are not going to be improved which is not what Apple was offering me when i signed up for the service. I am not that fussed about the emusic music as being in similar quality MP3 there may be little merit swopping for AAC copies but it is narking me that I have music iTMS sold me or did not allow me through iTunes Plus to upgrade from protected that are there on iTMS that I cannot take advantage of the upgrade offer.... ??? feel fre to answer or point me to other posts covering this issue.

I had done a read around at many of the usual candidate mac support sites but nothing really un-muddles my mind about this. I have enabled iCloud Status in my playlists and I have set up a number of smart playlists to assess and monitor the process of the upload.
I have 21555 'music' files of which 9246 songs listed as "matched"
Of the 13083 songs currently not "matched' 1642 are listed as "purchased" 2053 are "Uploaded" 9341 are "waiting" 3 are "ineligible" 24 are "Duplicate" 5 are listed as "Error"
In my iTunes Purchased smart playlist tells me
of 1837 songs 20 are "matched" 1613 are "purchased" 163 are "waiting" or "uploaded" 35 are "inelegible"
1561 Purchased AAC files 3 are "matched" 16 are "waiting" and the rest "purchased"
257 Protected AAC include 16 "matched" 71 are "purchased" 5 are "uploaded" 134 "waiting" 30 are "inelegible"
Of the 3135 eMusic songs
2259 are "matched" 871 are "waiting"
I have only so far seen 3 albums with the download icloud icon and the 3 are from the iTunes Store and they are all of the same quality and type as the copies I already have.
If nothing else how do identify those songs iCloud is going to rely on songs held by Apple already and for those songs that are of a higher quality or have removed protected status how are they downloaded?

Why do some of my playlists gray out even though the music in the list has been downloaded to my iPad ? When they are grey I can't access them.

I have 37 "recovered photos in my iPhoto album, how do I get rid of them

I have approximately 37 "recovered photos" in my iPhotos and everytime I access my photos, I get an error message that says I have 5 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported. Would you like to import them now, and the "yes" button is highlighted.

Quit iPhoto and to to the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) - right click (control click) on it and select show package contents - find the folder named import (on importing) and drag it to the desktop - DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES - launch iPhoto and you will be fine.
Open the import(ing) folder and if there is nothing in it that you need move it to the trash and empty the trash

I am sure you are eager to download and listen to the album you purchased. If you click on the cloud next to the songs, it should start downloading the track. If the song does not download or is not visible in iTunes, I recommend the following steps.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted. You can use the steps in this article:

If the album does not download after following the steps in that article, I recommend trying to download the album from the list of past purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the album, you will not be charged again.
