IPC in JSF portlet 1.2 weblogic portal 10.3.2

Hi,
I'm using weblogic potal 10.3.2 JSF Portlet (Portlet 2.0 - JSR 329).
i implement inter portlet communication through event handling.
a Portlet A fire custom event, portlet B listen to event.
how can portlet B listen to event and call other jsf page or invoke face an action?
(i use Invoke Face Action but it isn't allowable in JSF 1.2 Portlet - JSR 329)
many thanks!

hi, i have resolved my problem. i'm using IPC to pass parameter form portlet A to portlet B. In Portlet B, i'm using PhaseListener to manage RESTORE_VIEW phase. And in this phase, i create ViewRoot.

  • Example JSF Portlet Project for WebLogic Portal 10.3.2

    Hi,
    does anyone have an example JSF Portlet Project for WebLogic 10.3.2 using the default JSF implementation 1.2.
    I tried to implement the example of the document "Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic" but I always get a ClassCastException.
    java.lang.ClassCastException: com.bea.portlet.container.RenderRequestImpl
    Thx in advance
    Edmund

    My approach was to programmatically redirect to the page again with _nfpb=false. I do this in the handlePostbackData() method in the portlet's backing file.
    redirectUrl = redirectUrl.replaceAll("_nfpb=true", "_nfpb=false");
    PortletBackingContext.getPortletBackingContext(request).sendRedirect(redirectUrl);

  • Resetting the JSF Portlet State in weblogic portal 10.3 and JSF1.2

    Hi ,
    I have a Registration JSF Portlet. It has two pages, “Registration home Page" and " Registration confirm Page". After I,enter the Registration details on " Registration home Page" and click submit, I will get a " Registration confirm Page". Add this JSF Portlet on a page in weblogic portal 10.3. Now visit some other page and comeback to the page on which I added the JSF Portlet, I will see that it is showing " Registration confirm Page", i.e the state is retained.
    My problem is... I want to see " Registration home Page " everytime you visit the page. how can be achieved in weblogic portal 10.3.
    Can any one help me out with this problem ..
    Thanks,
    Ram

  • Can integrate JSF 2.0 in weblogic portal 10.3.2 ?

    Hello all,
    I am working on JSF 1.2 in weblogic portal 10.3.2. But i want to integrate JSF version 2.0 into weblogic portal 10.3.2. Is it possible ? And if it is possible so can you tell me how to do it or give me a link which will tell me how to do it ?
    Thanks in advance!

    Well weblogic Portal does not officially support JSF2.0. For that matter none of Oracle products have moved on to JSF2.0.
    Technically since WLP with version 10.3.2 supports JSR 301 standards. This shoudl be possible.
    Steps:
    1. In the Weblogic Portal Web Project --> Build Path libraries remove the JSF libraries. Remove the JSF library entry from weblogic.xml.
    2. Now add JSF2.0 impl & api from mojarra.
    3. You will also have to change the portlet bridge. WLP uses myfaces portlet bridge :http://myfaces.apache.org/portlet-bridge/2.0/downloads.html
    NOTE - This is currently in alpha version.
    Guess this should do it.

  • Query- IPC using JSF Portlets in WebLogic Portal

    The question is how to pass data when doing InterPortlet Communication using Local JSF portlets in Weblogic Portal.
    I will eloborate on the particular scenario we have below.
    Two JSF portlets are build (both are not using Java Page Flows). The first porltet has a table of data. When the user clicks on one of the items in the table (which is coded using <h:commandLink/> option), the second portlet should show some details on the item clicked.
    For example:
    If there is a list of books in first portlet, when clicking on one of the book name, the details of book should come up in the second portlet.
    To achieve this, faces event was enabled in first portlet with requestAttrPersistence option set to session.
    For example :
    <netuix:content>
    <netuix:facesContent contentUri="/bookList.faces" requestAttrPersistence="session">
    <netuix:facesEvents>
    <netuix:facesEvent action="/bookDetails.faces" eventName="bookDetailEvent"/>
    </netuix:facesEvents>
    </netuix:facesContent>
    </netuix:content>
    The second portlet was configured to handle faces events, particularly the bookDetailEvent.
    Example:
    <netuix:handleFacesEvent eventLabel="handleFacesEvent1" eventName="bookDetailEvent" fromSelfInstanceOnly="false" onlyIfDisplayed="true" sourceDefinitionLabels="JSFPortlet_1" sourceDefinitionWildcard="this">
    <netuix:invokeFacesAction action="/bookDetails.faces"/>
    </netuix:handleFacesEvent>
    Going by this method, how can we find the particular book whose detail has to be shown? As in JSF, we dont directly access the request attributes, what is the ideal way to pass data from one page to other?
    Please help on this.

    i am also having the same problem.I tried by passing _nfls=false but it didn't work.Can you suuggest where do i need to set this or any other parametrs such as this programmatically?

  • Problems with Inter-Portlet Communication in Weblogic Portal 10.3

    Hi,
    I'm developing a web application using Weblogic Portal 10.3.
    The requirement is that the work requests have to be stored in a workbasket which can be submitted by the user at the end.
    The user can create multiple request of same form.
    Consider a scenario that the user creates 5 instances or work request in a single form. No he moves back to the 2nd request and modifies it. While modifying the 2nd request a validation message is thrown. Now the user navigates to Workbasket directly by selecting the Workbasket from the menu item.
    Now when the user selects any one of the 5 requests, he is able to view the same validation message which is thrown as said in the above scenario. This is happening only when the user navaigates from the workbasket. If the user switches between the request, the problem is not simulated.
    Someone please help me how this can be avaoided.
    More Information:

    Message is thrown using the FacesMessage in JSF and is displayed in the screen using the following JSF tag.

    Hi,
    Could someone pls explain which cache is used to cache portlet content and in which form the content is cached?

  • Portlet caching in weblogic portal 10.3

    Hi,
    I implemented the following for testing portlet caching.
    1) I have one JSR/168 portlet with cache enabled(Render Cacheable property set to true). This portlet displays time.
    2) Have another JSP portlet which prints the cache names and size of the cache.
    3) Then third portlet which is a JSF portlet has a submit buton
    The caching works fine in the JSR/168 portlet.
    I used the following code to display cache names and cache size.
    String[] cacheNames = CacheFactory.getCacheNames();
    for(int index = 0; index < cacheNames.length; index ++ ) {
    Cache rcCache = CacheFactory.getCache(cacheNames[index]);
    Iterator cacheKeyIterator = rcCache.keySet().iterator();
    int cacheKeySize = rcCache.keySet().size();
    while( cacheKeyIterator.hasNext() ) {
              Object aKey = cacheKeyIterator.next();
    Object keyValue = rcCache.get( aKey );
    System.out.println( "Cache Name: " + cacheNames[index] + "," + cacheKeySize + "," + keyValue.getClass()+","+keyValue );
    The above code displays only the cache names which display metadata of the portal/portlet like portlet preferences, localization details.
    But I need to know the cache name which is caching the portlet content and in which form the content is getting
    cached(as a value object or as HTML). Any help on this?

    Hi,
    Could someone pls explain which cache is used to cache portlet content and in which form the content is cached?

  • Portlet-to-Portlet communication BEA Weblogic Portal 7.0 SP2 Windows environment

    I am new to BEA Weblogic Portal. I have a page with 3 portlets. Portlet 1 searches
    and displays data in portlet 2. When you click on a specific link in portlet
    2 it displays detailed data in portlet 3. This all works fine. My Problem is
    when I execute another search in portlet1 the results show up fine in portlet
    2, however portlet 3 still has the details from the previous search. How can
    I resolve this issue? Any advice on how to deal with caching in general?

  • How to deploy JSR 168 Portlet war into Weblogic Portal Server?

    Hello experts!
    I have the installed Oracle WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 with Examples.
    And I want to deploy my jsr-168 portlet.
    Now I could to import this portlet by docs:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14245/deployment.htm#i1047336
    How can I add the web application as a WSRP producer using WebLogic Portal Administration Console?
    What should I do?

    Hello Kevin,
    my answers:
    Are there any error or warning messages on the application server console when you deploy the generated EAR?When I checked the Auto-deploy checkbox and press Perform Import on the Import Tool page, I had:
    Import Successful... Generated EAR:C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlportal_10.3\samples\domains\portal\helloApp.ear
    But helloApp had the Warning status (Health column) on the Deployment page of the WL Server Administration Console
    Health Information:
    Name: AsyncProliferation
    Health: OK
    Reason: MDB application helloApp is connected to messaging system.
    Name: MessageBufferBean
    Health: Warning
    Reason: MDB application helloApp is NOT connected to messaging system.
    Name: MessageBufferTopicBean
    Health: Warning
    Reason: MDB application helloApp is NOT connected to messaging system.
    If I did NOT check the Auto-deploy checkbox and then install on the Deployment page, I had:
    Messages
    All changes have been activated. No restarts are necessary.
    The deployment has been successfully installed.
    But helloApp had the Warning status (Health column) too.
    Also, earlier you said that you were using WLP 10.3.2, but this issue sounds very similar to something
    that happened in a previous version of WLP, so I just want to check with you again that you're using WLP 10.3.2, correct?Yes, I am using WLP *10.3.2*

    Thanks in advance.

    First you install a JDK6 version after which you can install your WebLogic and Forms, Reports...
    A step-by-step example is presented here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7265
    Look in the 'Install WebLogic' section. Note that you probably do not have to create a separate user,
    also you can use HotSpot instead of JRockit.

  • Announcing: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper

    Just Released: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper
    A supplemental developer's guide has been published to help guide WLP 10.x customers that wish to use JSF as the web framework for building portlets on WebLogic Portal. This is a sizable document (150 pages) that covers a large number of topics. It also coaches developers on best practices and common pitfalls.
    Important: It also clarifies the supported configuration of JSF within Portal Web Projects. Workshop for WebLogic by default configures a web project in a configuration that is not supported by WebLogic Portal. The guide explains how to address this:
    * Change from the unsupported MyFaces JSF implementation to the supported Sun Reference Implementation (RI)
    * Change from the unsupported "client" STATE_SAVING_METHOD to the supported "server"
    The guide can be downloaded here:
    http://download.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/portal/weblogic-portal-jsf-whitepaper.pdf

    Hi Peter!
    First, I wish to thank you for the great work.
    We followed your whitepaper and managed to deploy a JSF portlet on WLS.
    But we are not able to register it (consume it) as remote portlet in Oracle Portal 10.1.4. The error log is as follows:
    An error occurred while trying to refresh the provider. (WWC-43190)
    An error occurred during the call to the WSRP Provider:

  • Weblogic portal 10.3 - How to make JSF page to display different jspx page

    Hi,
    I am new to Weblogic Portal Technology. In my porject I am using trinidad jsf 1.1 and weblogic portal 10.3. I have an issue in changing the jspx path in the JSF portlet at runtime. My scenario is as given below.
    I have a left portlet and a right portlet on my consumer.portal page.
    Left Portlet:_
    The left portlet contains a custom menu created using commandlink tag in trinidad JSF.
    Right Portlet:_
    The right portlet contains a content portlet which will display the jspx.
    Problem:_
    When I click on the menu item link in the left portlet, the right portlet should display the appropriate jspx.
    Is there any solution for this scenario? Can anyone provide me step by step procedure to implement the above scenario?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Chris,
    I have already gone through this document. But the procedure that is given in it is not working. I mean I am not able to render diffferent different jspx files based on the menu link clicked. It will great if you can provide me steps by step process since I am new to the portal World.
    Thanks a lot for your reply

  • Jsf portlet communication

    Dear All
    I have two JSF portlets on the same portal page both in the same context. I want to update the view of one portlet on the basis of a user click on the other portlet. Is there some event notification mechanism using which i can do this? I am using pluto-1.1.4
    Thanks
    Puneet

    The blogpost talks about a webcenter application.
    I am working with a webcenter spaces application and the idea is that the user can add portlets for their own on their own personal space so i don't have access to the page definition to create a page parameter...
    I can tell the user that if he want to use the IPC functionality he needs to add a page parameter and configure the portlets to they use the page parameters but that is not realy an answer the business is expecting... We need to keep the UI nice and simple and by letting the user adding page parameters by them self... that is everything but simple.
