IPhone 2D Image Performance

Hi all,
I'm developing a 2D game for iPhone and am at the point where I need to consider my drawing options.
Initially I chose to do batched 2D textured quads with OpenGL ES, then I realized that the iPhone doesnt support vertex buffers, so each sprite will need its own draw call.
So now I'm wondering whether its faster to do this with OpenGL or to just use the Core Graphics image object and just blit to the screen for each sprite?
Does anyone have any solid info on which is better from a performance standpoint?
Thanks a lot!

One thing to check is Settings > Bluetooth.  The update process turns it on.  Turn it off if you don't use it.

  • How do I unlock an iPhone 4 without performing a backup?

AT&T has given me permission to unlock an iPhone 4 and has provided these steps:
Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your AT&T Mobile device.
We have reviewed your request and confirmed that the device may be unlocked.
Please allow 24 hours upon receipt of this notification to complete the unlock process.
    To complete the unlock, simply
    1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.
    2. Ensure a SIM card is inserted into your iPhone.
    3. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
    4. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes. For information on backup and restore, please visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.
    5. After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.
My issue is that I don't want the data, apps, settings, etc. of the previous user of the iPhone 4, so I don't want to perform a backup. However, in step 4 it states I have to backup and restore the iPhone and only after restoring it will the iPhone be unlocked. Is it possible to unlock the iPhone by just performing the restore without having first done a backup, or is the backup a crucial part of the process to unlock the iPhone?
    Thanks for your assistance!

The iPhone 3G backup and iPhone 4 backup (if you create one) would be saved using different file names.  To see both, you could open Preferences from iTunes' menu on your computer, then select the "Devices" tab.
You ask if you still have to back up the iPhone 4 first.  If you can erase it first, then its backup would contain virtually nothing.  Whether you can erase it or not, its contents would be irrelevant.  See if the process allows you not to back it up.  If it does, great.  If not, no harm would be done.  By the way, you can delete this useless iPhone 4 backup from the same tab in iTunes Preferences.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

  • IPhone to image capture picture orientation problem.

I am having a problem with my iPhone 3G (2.2.1) and pictures. I've seen several other topics about this but none of them address or fix the problem for me (since most of them are from people using other applications like Picasa or iPhoto). Opening up every picture in an image editor and rotating it before syncing back to my iphone is NOT a solution. It's a bandaid.
    Here is the problem.
Take a picture with iPhone. Connect to Mac. Image Capture app launches and I "Download All" to Pictures folder in Home folder. Images are deleted from the iPhone and moved into the Pictures folder. Opening an image from the Pictures folder opens them in the correct orientation in Preview.
iTunes is set to import all pictures from the Pictures folder. Sync iPhone. Images are uploaded to the photo library and all of them are rotated 90 degrees CCW. Turning the phone causes the images to rotate automatically to retain "correct orientation" which is still wrong.
Uploading an image from the phone (to Facebook for example) from the Photo Library results in a rotated image on the server.
None of the suggestions I've seen so far are a "solution". I don't want to open every image I take in iPhoto and rotate it before I sync it back to my Photo Library.
My question is how do I fix this, or prevent it from happening? Alternatively, is this a recognized bug that Apple intends to fix?

This is a useful method to minimize the problem, but it is still not a solution. It is unacceptable that I should have to resort to an extra step using a third party application to get my pictures onto my device, especially considering this problem didn't previously exist.
I am using all Apple tools (iPhone, iMac, image capture, iTunes) because I want to maintain the integrity of the process.
I know this problem is related to EXIF information in the image resulting in an unwanted rotation. IF I open an image in another program, I can clearly see that the image dimensions are listed at 1200x1600 (portrait). Either image capture or iTunes is modifying or removing these values before the image is optimized and added to the Photo Library on the phone, resulting in an orientation mismatch.
I guess I'm going to have to call Apple.

  • Download my 22Gig iPhone 4S image to a computer...

I need to download my 22 Gig Iphone 4s image to my computer.  I have wasted 2 days already trying to "let it finish" the Icloud restore process.  It makes it about 1/3 of the way thru the 8 hour process!  Is there anyone besides the "Hackers" that can download the image file?  (Check out elcomsoft.com)
I just want my phone to work and my contacts back (over 3400!)
    Thanks
    Ti3

Maybe YOU can't.  It's not like its not on a server in china somewhere and sitting as a file.  I don't give up that easy.  I had over 3000 contacts and important notes and documents (yes I backed it up before going to exchange my phone with the computer via itunes)  But, when I "activated" it while in the store, I had 3 options; restore from icloud backup, restore from itunes backup or start as new phone.  I HAD TO start as new phone.  THEN, the second I plugged it into my computer it said "Backing up"  and it OVERWROTE my backup file!  The only other backup file is from 2011.  Not acceptable!  The file exists and I pay for the backup!  I have a right to my own backup file.  Or the other option is I pay for the HACKER tool from elcomsoft.com.  The tool that can hack ANYONES icloud and read all the information.  (I am currently not a big fan of ICloud if you didn't catch that!)
Instead of telling people "you can't"  why don't you work at solving the problem?  Do you think that you are benefiting the community by stating the obvious simple answer of no?
    Thanks,
    Allen

  • How to properly use iphone 5s battery performance

Will my iphone 5s battery performance still be at maximum (full performance and capacity) if I charge it at any percent like 57%? I always thought charging it any time will weaken the battery life so i'll have to charge it more frequently as time goes by.
Also, is charging my iphone 5s in the car and/or through a computer the same thing as charging through an outlet?

    JCHAAAANG wrote:

No. The iPhone wall adapter supplies 1 amp. Most computers and built-in car usb ports only supply 1/2 amp. So it will take twice as long to charge using those. And, if the iPhone is actively being used (such as using it as a GPS in a car) it won't charge at all, because the battery will be draining as fast as it is charging.
You can get higher current adapters for cars (I just got an InCase 2.4 amp car adapter yesterday at an Apple store), and some newer computers can supply 1 amp (including all Macs since 2011). There is no iPhone  benefit to an adapter that supplies more than 1 amp because the charging circuit in the phone limits the charge rate to 5 watts (1 amp @ 5 volts). An iPad, however, can use up to 2.1 amps (12 watts).

  • Clickable Images with different sections of image perform different actions

    Hi All,
I am trying to achieve an image where different parts of the image perform different functions.
For ex. pls refer link : http://www.zoho.com/crm/images/account-management.jpg
Say I need an image like this where it performs different actions when we click 'Quick create' , 'Manual Filling'
etc. Can we achieve this in ADF ?
    Thanks

The good old html image map ...
I guess you have to set the imageMapType property of af:image to server. Read the component help and http://programming.itags.org/development-tools/6258/ might help

  • In my iPhone the images and videos are not changing into landscape mode

In my iPhone the images and the videos are not changing into landscape mode. And it is switching off  automatically

    Hi vijenderreddy,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps to try if your iPhone is unexpectedly powering off:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
For the issue of images not changing orientation, see this article:

  • Extract iPod/iPhone/iPad images from iTunes?

Does anyone know where I can find the large iPod/iPhone/iPad images that are displayed in the Summary tab of the Sync screen?
Are these hidden somewhere within the iTunes file?

They appear to be hard-coded into the application binary and not available. I can't find them anywhere in the resources in the bundle, anyway.
For what purpose do you need them? Perhaps if we knew what you wanted them for, someone might be able to come up with a suggestion. Note that the images will be copyrighted by Apple and not usable in any public setting (web site, another app, a publication, etc.) without a license from Apple.
    Regards.

  • IPhone Wallpaper Images

Does anyone know if there is a way to backup/copy the iPhone wallpaper images to a PC?
Seems that when copying photos in iTunes, the wallpaper images are not being transferred.
    Any help is appreciated.

    None.
However, why do you need to back them up? If the phone ever requires a restore they will be reloaded onto the phone along with everything else.

  • Iphone 5s battery performance

I am very happy with my iphone 5s battery performance when it is on ios 7.0.5, standby time can reach 20 hours   with usage time of 4 hours   after every full charged. But, after updating to ios 7.0.6, the battery life became very poor, even now with 7.1 also same problem!!
Please, i want to have the previous battery performace.

One thing to check is Settings > Bluetooth.  The update process turns it on.  Turn it off if you don't use it.

  • IPhone 6 LTE Performance

LTE performance with iPhone 6 is atrocious. We used to get 5-7+ Mbps download with iPhone 5, but are lucky to get 0.25 Mbps with iPhone 6 and wife's iPhone 6+. It has been a very disappointing transition. The phone and service are useless outside WIFI zones. Any ideas?

I have similar problems. I have no data service at all in parts of Dublin, CA. I can't even get a speed test to run at all.
No Service (nada zip can't even run a test)
-Dublin, CA - Western parts of the city (west of 680 north of 580) 4930 Dublin Blvd. by Starbucks
-Dublin, CA - Mid part of City (Dougherty/Dublin Blvd)
Some more poor service spread throughout Dublin, CA and Pleasanton, CA in the image below. One odd note. Driving westward on Dublin Blvd past Dougherty I pulled down 81 Mbps !!! Something is majorly wrong with either the phone or network. It has been like this for the past few days at all hours of the day (sorry I'm a phone junkie)
Anyway, I'm super ******. One no service is impacting my ability to use my phone. Couldn't use Apple Pay or my Starbucks gift card to pay for things.
To further rub salt in the wounds I switch from a $50 Sprint Unlimited data plan on an iPhone 5. My wife still has that plan and slow 1-3 Mbps LTE service in all the parts of town where I have nothing. Sprint was awful, but Verizon is way worse and I'm paying $75 for only 2GB of data. I'm just glad I didn't move her over at the same time because I would be getting an earful.
Anyway, I'm happy to help troubleshoot in exchange for some free data so I don't go over my limit.
    Signed,
    Not Happy
