IPhone 4 FaceTime toolbar question.

Is there a way to move or hide the MUTE / END/ SWITCH CAMERA toolbar when using FaceTime on the iPhone 4?  I travel a lot for work.  We have a Mac at home.  I set up FT last week so that I could have a video call with my 3 1/2 y/o each night.  She isn't very interested in talking on the phone, but FT holds her attention and it makes it easier to understand what she is saying b/c I can see her face.  The only problem is that she isn't tall enough, and the Mac camera does not pan down far enough so that she is in the middle of the screen.  The toolbar covers her face.   Suggestions?

lcol98 do you know how many people text and drive has died, this has to be bigger than just apple goverments are having problems with the text and drive all ready, the last thing they need is to put that on the 3g network, people are going to do facetime as they drive and by the way nokia and other companies has been doing everything apple is doing right now the difference between apple and other companies its all timing. nokia and apple are in court as we speak nokia is suying apple the are saying iphone technology belongs to them and its true.

Two questions. Where did you purchase the phone, and have you checked in Settings>General>Restrictions and see if FaceTime is restricted? One last thought, does your carrier support FaceTime?

My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of both getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use all of the features of Icloud with one account at Verizon or do we need to have separate accounts?

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

  • HI, I recently upgraded my operating system IOS 5.0.1 on an iphone 3gs. MY question is, how do I get the text messaging preview to just pop up so that I can see the name only when the lock screen is on? The conventional ways of doing this aren't working

HI, I recently upgraded my operating system IOS 5.0.1 on an iphone 3gs. My question is, how do I get the text messaging preview to just pop up so that I can see the name only when the lock screen is on? The conventional ways of doing this, such as using turning off the SMS preview under the "passcode lock", well that option no longer exists, or if it does, I'm somehow missing it.
When I go to the "messages" setting under settings on my phone, I still don't see an option of turning it off.
If I can just get the name of the person sending the message, as I had it before, I'd be happy.
    Help!

That option still exists in Settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Prview (OFF) and View in Lock Screen (ON). Here's how to configure your Notifications and Notification Center for iOS 5: http://iphone-and-i.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-customize-notification-center-in .html

New! Importing iPhoto files onto an iPhone 3G with iTunes question

    So letme get this striaght...
You first create an album in iPhoto 08 with just the images you want put onto your iPhone 3G.
NEXT: you connect tou iPhone 3G and iTunews will open. You go to the iPhone in iTunes and select the photo tag and then select the album you had made for import and sync it with you iPhone. Will large image files automatically be resized for use on the iPhone 3G?
Most of my .JPG files are from 4 -5 MB each in size. What will it do with a RAW image file?

I am not 100% sure, but i BELIEVE that they do get resized because as it's syncing with the iPhone, iTunes will state that it is optimizing the selected photos for the iPhone, just like we would see for the iPod.

    Dear All,
To my recent notice, my iPhone 4S has not been backed up from the time I bought it (4 months ago). After which everytime I go into the <Back-up now> option, it says that 'Last backup could not be completed'. Any suggestions on solving this please
Not with they limited information you have provided so far. Are you backing up to iCloud or to iTunes on your computer? Do you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer? Was it installed from a Windows or Mac user ID that had administrator privileges? Does the phone show up in iTunes? What is your operating system? Are you using a USB port directly on your computer (not a hub)? If it's a USB port on the computer and you have a desktop or tower computer is the port on the back, not on the front?

I have a problem with my iphone 4 Facetime, that since the new ios 7 system has been installed, I cannot use the FACETime? I don't know where to turn? I have contacted a retailer here in Isreal, and I've contacted the Cell come company and I've contacted the repair shop... each one pushes me off on someone else.
I cannot make any FACETIME calls.... anywhere................ help

Hmm, I see from the Apple Support webpage it seems you cannot call them directly from Israel, that's not good.
Okay, so FaceTime stopped working once you upgraded to iOS 7 is that the situation? It doesn't work over either cellular or WiFi networks? I assume you have checked the Settings>FaceTime>FaceTime switch is on and that you have your correct Apple ID in there as well?
What happens when you launch the FaceTime app and attempt to make a FaceTime call, what message(s) do you get?

  • Hi, since I've bought the iphone, my facetime never works, I just can't activate the facetime in settings, when I put it on, after some time, the phone shows the message: activation unsuccesful. Do you guys know what should I do?

Hi, since I've bought the iphone, my facetime never works, I just can't activate the facetime in settings, when I put it on, after some time, the phone shows the message: activation unsuccesful. Do you guys know what should I do?

Where are you, what network are you on and where did you get the phone?
If you are on an unsupported network, Facetime may never be able to activate. If the phone originated in a different country, facetime is probably trying to send an International text message to activate. If you don't have International text messaging, it will fail.

  • Verizon White iPhone 4 FaceTime

Is it possible to use Verizon iPhone 4 FaceTime (obviously with Wifi) without actually activating phone on Verizon network?  I have heard there are ways to circumvent activation requirement.  Please help!

I beg to differ with your offered answer.  I have yet to "activate" my iPhone 4 on the Verizon network and I am using it to perform numerous functions including: Internet surfing, Skyping, music, video & picture storage, etc., etc.  So far though, I have not figured out how to activate FaceTime, and I think your answer about this particular aspect of my inquiry is accurate.

Without a rescue email you will have to call Apple to change your security questions:

  • Calling iPhone number Facetime

How do I call an iphone using facetime on ipad. In iOS 6, there was an option to click on a specific e-mail id or phone number. But now in iOS 7 there is only one video call button. How do I know which e-mail id or phone number it is calling. I want to make the call to the phone.

    Hi Dalix 56,
I understand you are using FaceTime from your iPad to call an iPhone. The iPad contacts other iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch, or other iPads) by using the email address designated for FaceTime for the person you are calling, not their phone number. That email address is attached to their name in your Contacts and can be edited there. The following article has some great information about FaceTime.
    iOS: Using FaceTime
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4319
What information do I need to call someone using FaceTime?
To call someone using FaceTime, you need their phone number or email address. Which one you use is determined by the device you are calling:
When calling someone using an iPhone: Try the phone number of the person you are calling first. If the person has registered an email with FaceTime, you can use that as well.
When calling someone using an iPad, iPod touch: Use the email address designated for FaceTime of the person you are calling.
On iPad and iPod touch, you need to add a person as a contact using the FaceTime or Contacts app before you can call them.
    Thanks for reaching out,
    -Joe

  • FaceTime audio question

Hey gang, if someone calls my iPhone using FaceTime audio and my iPhone is NOT on wifi, does that use my data? Or does it just count against my minutes?
    Thanks,
    dp

Even if the FaceTime is an incoming call? The thing is that I do NOT want to accept incoming FaceTime audio calls if they use my data. I wish there were a way to just send FaceTime audio straight to voicemail if I'm NOT on wifi. I've got a friend who's started calling me over FaceTime audio and I'm worried it's going to chew up all of my data. Oh well, guess i'll have to just ignore the calls unless I'm on wifi.
