IPhone 4 - Screen/digitizer replaced.. Now problems?

My iPhone 4 just had the screen/digitizer replaced after being dropped. It won't turn on now but it will vibrate every few minutes when plugged into the charger.. Any suggestions on how to fix it or what it could be? Maybe the battery needs replaced?

If your iPhone was repaired by a 3rd party repairer ,you have forfeited any further support from Apple including  this forum
Take it back to the repairer and get them to fix it ,Apple will not assist now in any way

  • I replaced my iPhone screen myself and now my phone is over heating. i have no idea if its under warranty and if so will apple do anything even though i took it apart?

So my iPhone screen cracked and i ordered a new screen to replace it. Finally when i finished i went to turn it on and the screen just stayed blank. I plugged it in and the apple symbol came up but then went off, and kept doing this. so i let it set for about an hour and tried again. it gave the charging symbol and just stayed on this for about half an hour. i unplugged it and when i did it just went off. after a while it did come back on but it began to overheat and the battery lasts about 45 minutes. i took the back off and its the logic board that is hot and not the battery. can this be fixed? i dont know if its under warranty but if it is will they replace it after the fact that i took it apart?

  • No serial number after logic board replacement, now problem to upgrade to Lion

    Hi, I have a MacPro 3.1
I replaced the logic board 16 month ago and it came back without a Serial Number.
It wasn't a problem a the time so I didn' mind.
Now my mac doesn't want to upgrade over 10.6.2, so not to mac osx lion either.
Any idea of how I can put the serial number back into my mac pro without sending it back for repair? I need it for work...

you messed your phone up yourself. If you dont have no nokia repair centre or warranty. at least im sure there is a mobile phone shop which does repair. You should have gave it them for repair and paid for the repair at least your device would have been working.
    BTW the reason why your backlight dose not work is due to 2 reasons;
    - Faulty mainboard
    - Wrong LCD Revision you replaced it with. (on the back theres code)

  • IPhone Screen Replacement

    Hi.
I dropped my iPhone on the ground a few months ago and the screen cracked. It's been working fine since then. My brother in the mean time dropped his iPhone in the pool and it has ceased to function at all. My question is: do you think his screen is still in working condition and is it possible to swap the glass/digitizer from his and install it in mine? I'm aware this is a difficult process but I would be up for it. Thanks.
    Bryan

Well, if the screen works, it's certainly possible. Your phone could be fixed by Apple for $199. His will probably cost a lot more for apple to replace.
However, you risk completely breaking your phone. Then you'll have problems. Again replacement costs will be much higher than $199.
Anyway, in actuality, the top half of the iPhone (screen, digitizer, and ear piece) is relatively easy to replace, as long as you do all three at once. One the 3G and 3GS, it's the 2 screws at the bottom and a few cables. iFixit.com has nice guides as well as parts.

  • Iphone screen fixed

I got my iphone screen fixed and now when theres a black colour on the screen it goes green. Why is this?

Who fixed your screen for you?  Apple does not do the so was it an Apple Authorized Service Provider?  If not there is toning Apple will do to help or support this problem.  Repair by an unauthorized person voids the warranty and all further sport by Apple.

  • There was some dirt on the inner screen and I got my iphone replaced.now the new replaced phone also has the same problem

There was some dirt on the inner screen and I got my iphone replaced.now the same problem exists in the replaced iphone

Why would Apple do anything for a damaged iphone?
You would have to pay for a replacement

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:

  • HT5622 Will apple replace the original iPhone  screen and LCD and digitizer and how much will it be ????? And please tell me ??? Thank you :) for the help :)

Will apple still fix the original iPhone screen ???? And digtizer ???

Apple no longer supports the original iPhone. If you really want to repair it, you'll need to either take/send it to a third-party repair shop or buy parts and attempt repair yourself. Myself I wouldn't spend any money trying to repair the original iPhone.
    Regards.

  • IPhone 5 battery replaced by Apple, now constantly rebooting

    Hello,
Yesterday, my wife and I both had our batteries replaced by Apple as part of the battery replacement program.  Mine is working fine, but my wife's is not.  When we got home, the battery was at 22% (understandable since it had just been replaced with a new one).  I plugged it to charge.  After about 4 hours, I checked it, and it was still at 22%!  I did a hard reset and the phone came back up at 100%, so I figured it was a glitch.  Well, this morning it was still at 100% after not being plugged in since yesterday, so I did another hard reset.  Now, the iPhone will reboot itself every 3-4 minutes.
I have tried restoring the phone as a new device.  (I can't restore a backup since it will reboot before completing).
Strange thing,...it doesn't seem to reboot unless I am using the iPhone, or it is plugged in trying to sync.  If I let it just sit on the table with the screen off, it won't reboot.
I have an appointment at an Apple store tomorrow, but I am afraid since it is out of warranty, they won't help me....even though it was working fine before they replaced the battery (other than the fact the battery died after about 8 hours).
    Any thoughts out there?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Check out my solution. This worked for me after having the battery replaced for my iPhone 5 at the Genius Bar. Not sure if it'll fix the 100% issue though. Tried resetting network settings like above. I'll have to see and wait. Just had my battery replaced yesterday.

  • Cracked iPhone screen...questions re replacement

Ok Ive had my Verizon iPhone since February...yesterday my worst iPhone fear came true...I dropped my iPhone about 4 ft onto cement in 30 degree weather... Over half the screen was really cracked...I have a 32gb so I think vzw charges a $199 deductible...so I found this shop that replaces cracked iPhone screens...he told me the labor itself would only be about $30-40 but then he looked the part price up in his book up to his iPhone 4 CDMA parts guide & mumbles something like "digitizer" & blah blah then tells me the part would cost $150...I asked him what if I brought him the part would he still did it & just charge for labor...he was very nice and said he would do that.
Then I went online & googled iPhone 4 replacement assemblys & saw them for as low as $25 the I saw some for $55ish but nowhere near $150...is there a legit reason why he would charge this price...is the what an apple OEM screen replacement assembly costs, & I was looking at all non-OEM products? What are the downsides, if any, to replacing the iPhone screen with a non-OEM..are some of the features absent, like the oleophobic coating?
So I guess my question is what does an "iPhone screen replacement" assembly include? Besides the screen itself  & a "digitizer" (not sure what that is) and how do I know which ones are trash out there & which ones are good? Would you advise any non-OEM product at all?
Please give me any info you have on screen replacement packages, & possibly where I can purchase one that won't be garbage. Oh & also if it says it is meant for CDMA model...should I assume it is going to be the glossy version?
    Thanks!

So if I'm clear here you have thus far paid $109.90 for insurance and after paying another $199, for a total of $308.90 Verizon will replace your iPhone? Or, as has already been noted you can pay $149 at an Apple Store and get a replacement with a 90 day warranty.
I have no idea why in the **** you are paying for that insurance. I would talk to a Verizon rep about it before doing anything.
when you put it that way, yeah verizon is totally screwing everyone who has iphone insurance with them
this is right from verizon wireless website:
soooooooooo laaaammmmeeee.....I love verizon...but this is clearly called "taking advantage of ignorant consumers." When I had a regular ol' phone & even up to my blackberry it was 6.99/mo for the asurion coverage and a $50 deductable if damaged or stolen, which was totally worth it, but this is not that-clearly. gouge gouge gouge....prices ever increasing....& it's only up to the consumer to keep abreast of the price hikes....

I am at Ramstein AB Germany.  My iphone screen was smashed badly on the flight to Germany this morning.  WHEN I access apple support for this subject it gives me 3 options call now, call me now or call me later.  As I am in Germany with no coverage and no working phone none of those options will work.  Can you get this e-mail to someone who can help.  My iphone serial # is C38xxxxxx. 1) I need to know where and how I can get a replacement somewhere nearby in Germany 2) If 1 is not an option I need to set up an appt to get a to get a new iphone at an apple store in Atlanta GA in the evening of 11 July.
Thank you very much, Phil Edelen

Thanks, my wife is the one serving I am retired and trying to follow her as much as I can.
I will schedule an appt for my next time stateside.  I have spent too much time on many Apple web sites trying to get an e-mail to communicate with anyone at Apple to no avail, only phone numbers. I guess if you are overseas with no international access you are out of luck communicating with them.  I did find one e-mail address but the reply was computer generated and provided useless links.
If anyone has any e-mail address for anyone at Apple I would appreciate it.
    Thanks again,
    Phil

Last night my iphone screen all of a sudden was solid blue and now it is black. I tried turning it on and off.  Still nothing appeared on the screen.  I put it on the charger and this morning it is totally black.  However, when I hit the on and off button, I did hear the text message signal go off. When I turned the volume on and off a big white bell flashed.  In the last week, there were some other display problems such as the screen blowing up large. The only way to fix it was to turn off the phone and then turn it back on.
What does all of this mean? It seems like I've had these problems since the iphone 4 upgrade.

just do reset, press home button and power butoon for a while untill you can see apple
    gud luck

Re: i tried updating my iphone to a new verison but after the update the phone is not restarting, just the apple sign is showing up on the screen. what is the problem?
I have tried the above fix and iTunes crashes giving error 27 after trying to load the iPhone firmware.
I have booted my phone in DFU mode and this has made no difference.
My mac is up to date.
My iTunes is up to date.
All i tried to do was update my ios as i have been unable to make calls or send text's all day.
Do you have any other suggestions as my phone is no good to me now.
    Many thanks,

Place iPhone on Wall Charger for at least 10 minutes. Then keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, this can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons while on charger. If still problem, open iTunes 10.7 on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, then click Restore button of iTunes. If still problem, try DFU Mode Restore, here are the steps. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. DFU Mode can be difficult to enter sometimes, just keep trying. DFU Mode is a black, blank screen with iTunes saying Recovery Mode. If still problem and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.
