Iphone 4s 5.0.1 SMS takes longer to receive

Hello,
im using iPhone 4s with iOS 5.0.1 and its my first iphone so i dont know if this is normal or not. Let me explain:
Sometimes it takes hours to receive an sms or several, i dont if its a bug or what. Normally it takes longer to get a normal sms text than other devices, iv compared with Nokias etc it takes longer like 1 ou 2 minutes longer its strange for a TOP notch device like this and a simple task.
Its very boring, apart for oither well knowed bugs that i have in the iOS device version, this one is the strangest. And also the Network operator signal peaks are irregular, not good signal in some cases and the phone calls drop and not hearing nicely like my old phones..
Please correct this, its kind of lame for a Phone to have these errors, if i wanted an iPod i would have get one.
Not looking good Apple, stop releasing noob updates and jailbrake failsafes and concentrate on real bugs, its ridiculuous like i said. I have all the other 5.0.1 bugs, reported ones, 2 rings on SMS, a second 2 rings 2 or 3 minutes of the same sms just the ring the sms doesnt repeat, and other stupid bugs...
I though Apple was not noobish like Android, thats why i picked Apple device
Thanks for reading

I can do better than that, the VODAFONE Portugal as a software called Vodafone WebPhone, where you have a virtual phone connected online. You can receive the SMS there, normally the software gets the message 5 seconds before Nokias for example, but with iphone you cant imagine the diference, like 1 minute never less than that.
Yesterday it was hours it was not normal, but a phone cant have this problems, the messeges must be instant SMS, and evey rest of them. I bought a top notch telephone not a portable internet device only
Thanks for searching in my behalf i also searched and got nothing, but maybe its normal for iphones i dont know.

  • If I ordered an iPhone with AT&T, will it take longer for it to ship?

Okay, so last wednesday (July 7th), I ordered a 16 GB Black iPhone 4 from the AT&T store near my house (I live in Houston, TX)-the lady at the store said it would take 7-10 days to get it, but the Apple website said shipping takes 3 weeks...what am I supposed to believe?! lol
I checked my order status on AT&T.com and it is still on backorder
Can anyone give me any info? thanks!
Also-I bought a black bumper for my iPhone on eBay-apparently the phone may not work without the bumper-can someone explain why?

Don't know about the back order thing, I'll just share with you about my order with AT&T
    July 1st - Ordered my IPhone 4 around 11pm
July 3rd - Status Update: Processing (I've been checking everyday day)
July 11th - Status Update: Shipped (AT&T Premier emailed me that the phone has been staged for pick-up and may take up to 72 hours before the shipping carrier can provide detailed delivery information)
July 12th - Checked Fedex website and the phone's estimated arrival is tomorrow, July 13th around 3pm
A friend of mine ordered the same day July 1st, and AT&T Premier emailed her on the 8th and got the phone on the 10th..
Hope this helps.. I'm excited to receive mine tomorrow.

  • Mac OS 10.4 Mail takes longer to receive than on Outlook Express 5

I receive email via Outlook Express 5.0.6 within an hour (but hate to use it). It can take Mac OS 10.4.8 Mail up to 24 hrs longer. Mail Preferences are set to: Check for new mail:” Every 30 min.” Under Accounts>Advanced: “Enable This Account” and “Include when automatically when checking for new mail” are both checked. The ISP is Comcast. What is the problem?

We have the same problem. The user rights under Leopard are not interpreted correctly while the Tiger clients show the correct entries. I´ve posted another topic to that thing...

  • After updating to ios 7.1 my iPhone 5s battery *****. It takes longer to charge and shorter to finish.

3 months back I upgraded from iPhone 4s to 5s and realised 4s is a much better phone. It gave me longer battery life of around 8.30 hrs of usage on 2g and 7 hrs on 3G but 5s was giving me only 7 hours of usage on 2g and 5 hours on 3g but since I've updated it to ios 7.1 my battery ***** even more. It takes longer to charge and shorter to drain. Now I get only 4 hours usage on 2g and somewhat 3hrs roughly on 3G and it takes around 3 hours to charge where awe it used to take only 100 minutes perfectly. I don't know what's wrong with apple. I was a huge apple fan when I had my 4s but now I'm disappointed. But worst thing comes last night, I usually lose around 10% due to my network's pop up messages overnight but last night i lost 37%. When I got up and checked usage it shows me 6 hrs 30 minutes usage but I haven't used my phone since I was sleeping. Hope a new update releases soon to patch this but till that some advices on saving battery would be appreciated, thank you.

Please be more specific. What have you tried already? Please follow the below steps as described also in another topic by Nathan.
    1. Hard reset hold both buttons until Apple logo appears.
    2. Restore from an iTunes sync and backup.  This made a difference for a lot of peopel, battery life got much better.
    3. Limit push notifications (apps and e-mail accounts - set e.g. e-mail to fetch once an hour) to those you really need.
    4. Limit location services to those you really need, and watch to see if the indicator comes up.
    5. Get the app System Activity Monitor to look for a runaway process that is using a lot of CPU.
    6. Suggestion by others to reset all settings.
    7. Suggestion by others that iCloud may be involved, and to try to turn off some iCloud settings.
    8. Limit or turn off 'background app refresh'.
    9. Add apps back in carefully to identify an offending app that is causing CPU or network activity that kills battery life.
10 Also make sure that e-mail is fetched (e.g. every hour) or set to manual instead of pushed.
11 Do you have a good carrier reception? Have you tried to manual set your carrier within your iPhone instead of the 'automatic'?
12 Have you checked if the timezone is set to manual instead of automatic and see if this makes a difference in battery use?
In my case it was a bug with an app that caused the battery drain. I also noticed that the use and stand-by time were exactly the same which is ofcourse not correct. This was all caused by this app which was using GPS tracking all the time. Unfortunately an app such as System Activity Monitor did not indicate that in my case but someone posted this solution on a Dutch forum that the previous version of the app 'Scoupy' had a bug and caused this battery drain.
If you haven't tried every single one of these, please do not post that battery life is terrible.

  • Why does it take so long to receive an email from find my iphone

Why does it take so long to receive an email from find my iphone

Well, first off, you do not know where your iPhone is..it could be anywhere and on any network with a
ghost network to boot.. Go into your local Police Station, tell them your iPhone has been Stolen & give them All the info you have,, then claim on your house insurance.......If your "Find My iPhone" is On and you still cannot trace it...
    What can I say...............

  • I sent my iphone 5s to apple repair and its been 11 days and i live in peterborough is its supposed to take that long or is it supposed to take longer?

so basically i brought i iphone 5s it was perfectly working  until i found some faults i sent it to apple and it has already been 11 days, also i live in peterborough is it supposed to take that long or is it supposed to take longer because im worried

If you 'sent' it somewhere it could have been delayed in transit.    Or whatever is required to correct the matter isn't available.   Have you phoned to confirm they have received it?   Your nearest store is Cambridge, probably a very busy one.

  • **Tech explanation why BACKUPS take long, how to make it very short, etc*

I noticed my backups to increase quite a bit over the last few days. I also noticed so many posts on why are backups taking so long, what can I do (only solution given is to click x or modify so that backups are not done, etc). Well to answer all those that want the "real" answer, I decided to do a few minutes of research and share what I've learned. I have seen nothing at all on google or anywhere else about the recommendations I'm suggesting, but from my experience I think it will answer 99% of all the backup threads on this site.
All your backups are being stored in:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\(Your Name)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Vista: C:\Users\*Your User*\Appdata\Local\Apple Computer\
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
The main directories are GUIDs that are based on the version of the iphone, so you may see more than one folder. Make sure to view the date last modified of the folder to make sure you go into the latest one. Order the files inside this directory by date modified. Here you can see how many files are being updated ON EVERY BACKUP. The older ones are not being backed up anymore because you probably uninstalled that app on the iphone (apple doesn't delete old unnecessary backup files that won't be ever used - bad programming #1). They are encoding all these files and inside the files in base 64, so you can decrypt them to view the contents, but you don't really need to and I don't have to show how for the solution to this. Open a file in wordpad. Within the first few lines you'll get an idea of what the backup is.
So here is the solution....sort these files by date modified. My biggest single file was 29,582KB!! looked inside and it's the WeDict app. There are other files from WeDict, but obviously for me if I want fast backups I need to get rid of this app. A few other top files I found are awesome apps on the iphone that have awesome trailers, intro movies for games, etc. Well guess what, they backup every single game intro, trailer, etc. So for instance, the game tap tap tap has a few m4a songs....well every one of those m4a songs are encrypted and backed up EVERY TIME (apple backups up files that don't need to be backed up which would probably reduce backup times by at least 98% - for instance, intro movies don't need to be backed up, nor app songs, nor game instructions, etc because that information should be on itunes backed up separately when you install an app, not when you do backups and it should be smart enough to update that folder when a new version is out....and only do backups on files that can change like high scores in apps, notes, etc - bad programming #2).
So anyway, you can see which apps are taking the most amount of time. Obviously if you remove every app on your iphone, it will backup fast, but some of these apps are shockingly huge. Problem here is that you can have 1 file or 100 files associated with 1 app. You could have only 2 apps installed on your iphone and your backups could be slower than a person having 30 apps just because some apps take a ridiculous amount of more backup data and time and what makes this even worse is every part of the data is encrypted, which I will talk about below (which doesn't need to be). Only time that file is not going to get updated is if it's deleted from your iphone.
You don't HAVE to use base 64 encryption. Come on now, especially on apps? They could lighten the encryption and it would be much faster backups because it has to decode and encode every file now. You are overencrypting these files so huge programs take forever backups. (Bad apple programming #3 don't over encrypt when speed is a necessity on something that doesn't need extreme high security).
As a developer with a computer engineering degree, to also make it even faster than what users were experiencing with backup times prior 2.0. They are obviously not tagging each portion that needs to be backed up individually. Lots of software companies do this to speed stuff up. For instance if you have Kaspersky antivirus with the defaults, the first scan will always take long, but every scan afterwords will be fast because instead of rescanning that file for a virus, it just checks to see if the checksum has changed and if so rescan that file, so most of the time the scan will happen fast unless there has been a period of time that you haven't done one that updates the checksums. They could do something very similar with this. So basically even if you changed a few things on your phone, the backup should be only a few seconds because only those few changes would be signaled to be rebacked up. (bad apple programming for backups #4). This process can make backups be from 98% faster to 99.98% faster....meaning having a backup only take 4 seconds even with 100 apps installed. Actually coding this one thing would make it extremely fast, but would take the most programming time. You can even make an algorithem where for the whole backup process it would just have to read one file that it would check checksums and then tell it to modify 1 or 2 other files and that's it as opposed to backing up (for me almost 5,000 files) some being several MB in size.
So all the above should give apple suggestions on how the can speedup backups by 99.98% faster than how they are doing it now and then anwers all those questions why it takes longer, what needs to change, how can I shorten my backups (this way you can find out what apps are taking the most time), etc.
The problem here is apps will continue to grow, become larger, more trailers, movies, songs embedded inside apps, etc. This problem is only going to grow. The additional problem is that they can say they have tweaked the backup programming to make it faster, just like they did in 2.0.1, but backups seem slower because there are newer better more awesome apps out!! Well that's why it doesn't look like it's faster but it's slower! They will keep doing this as opposed to solving the root of the problem by recoding the whole backup foundation as I'm suggesting from above. Backups will forever take longer and longer and longer and longer. That is what you have to look forward to. My guess is that they are not going to fix the foundation of how backups are done anytime soon having a good idea how they are doing this one. They would have to do a massive overhaul of the whole backup code, which basically they would have to admit that all the time coding this way was a waste and they see no profit from it and we deal with it just by pressing x sometimes. We can complain all we want, but for awhile if you don't want long backups, this is the real solution. What's funny is writing this email took much more time than figuring out what apple is doing, but I think this will help many apple iphone users. Let me know what you guys think.

Supposedly apple made backups slightly faster on 2.0.1, but like I said in my original posting above...it will get worse and worse because of the apps.
Just to verify and you could do this yourself. Right before you plug in to sync and it auto starts the backup process do this...go to the folder where all the files are as mentioned above, sort it by date modified. Add a refresh button on the toolbar. Then start the sync/backup, keep refreshing and you see the files getting updated. There are even temporary files apple's backup process creates that you don't see that keeps adding to a file, so even if you see one file updated, you might see it updated a few times until the whole backup for that file completes.
    Here are my stats:
For me this time it took 27 minutes (earlier it took 2 minutes, but like i said with updates to apps, more apps, depending on types of apps, your computer speed, etc it will increase.
For me: In 27 minutes, it updated 1707 files with a total size of 82.8MB. There are a ton of computers that are much faster than mine that I'm sure would cut the minutes down. I have 6 pages of apps, but like I mention above, that doesn't matter because you could have one app that has 400 files with a large size. I would be interested in others posting their results, maybe in this format:
27min 1707files 82.8MB Pentium4HT Antivirus and other large programs running in background.
If you are interested you can even download program that will decrypt these files so you can view them in more detail...for mac, for instance, there is something like this: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/iPhone-Applications/Tools-Utilities/iPhone-Backup-D ecoder.shtml It allows you to backup and modify. It may help you decide what is taking your backups so long and you can decide if it's worth having that app installed versus not having a good backup. You can also pick out you sms backup file, contacts backup file, etc for those really interested in having backups of those specific files.
Hope this helps clear up things for everyone.

  • When I connect my Iphone 4 to my computer I no longer get the option to move photos from iphone to computer. also i do not think my driver is operating. what to do?

When I connect my iphone four to my computer I no longer get the option to load photos from phone to computer.  I think i have a driver problem as well. What should I do?

The AutoPlay function on the computer is controlled in Control Panel. Also, there needs to be current photos that have not been imported to the phone for it to start, and also the phone needs to be unlocked if you have a passcode on it. If you have not been prompted to "Trust" the computer on the iPhone and answered that, it will also make a difference.
Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? What makes you think that you have a driver problem? You can take a look at Step 5 in this support document to see if that helps your driver problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

  • Why the LMS topology Service takes long time to reflect the device availability status?

In the topology services map, the color status of the router takes long time to move from red to green and vice versa.
i have already configured the time interval in the fault monitor poller setting to 6minutes but the only thing reflected the little mark at the top of the icon itself. anyhow the topology service still believe that the devices are unreachable. i have waited almost 45 minutes and nothing happened.
please let me known the trick to make the topology services act more quicker .
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Topology Services isn't really designed to be a near real time network device up/down tool. It will an change icon's status as a result an ANI engine polling cycle or an admin operator-initiated manual device rediscovery. While you can increase the frequency of polling cycles, that's not usually such a good idea as you could make the server be polling constantly and never completing a job.
To ascertain near real time fault status one should refer to the Fault Dashboard.

  • Battery of new iPad3 updated with iOS6 takes longer to charge

My new iPad3 whose battery was alright when it was running on iOS5. But when I updated the OS to 6, it started taking much longer time to recharge. Is there any suggestion on this issue? Thanks in advance.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • I want to backup my iphone on itunes, but it baskup for long long time, about 6.7 hours, and it doesn't done. What can I do ?

I want to backup my iphone on itunes, but it baskup for long long time, about 6.7 hours, and it doesn't done. What can I do ?
It's my iphone problem or itunes?

It shouldn't take this long, something is wrong with your iTunes.  Try this:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and do the sync again and if it is working now.

  • BPM Process chain takes long time to process

We have BI7, Netweaver 2004s on Oracle and SUN Solaris
There is a process chain (BPM) which pulls data from the CRM system into BW. The scheduled time to run this chain is 0034 hrs. This chain should ideally complete before / around 0830 Hrs. <b>Now the problem is that every alternate day this chain behaves normally and gets completed well before 0830 hrs but every alternate day this chain fails…</b> there are almost 40 chains running daily. Some are event triggered (dependent with each other) or some run in parallel. In this, (BPM) process chain, usually there are 5 requests with 3 Delta and 2 full uploads (Master Data). The delta uploads finishes in 30 minutes without any issues with very few record transfers. The first full upload is from 0034 hrs to approximately 0130 hrs and the 2nd upload is from 0130 hrs to 0230 hrs. Now if the 1st upload gets delayed then the people who are initiating these chains, stop the 2nd full upload and continue it after all the process chains are completed. Now this entire BPM process chain sometimes takes 17 -18 hrs to complete!!!!!
No other loads in CRM or BW when these process chains are running
CRM has background jobs to push IDOCS to BW which run every 2 minutes which runs successfully
Yesterday this chain got completed successfully (well within stipulated time) with over 33,00,000 records transferred but sometimes it has failed to transfer even 12,00,000 records!!
Attaching a zip file, please refer the “21 to 26 Analysis screen shot.doc” from the zip file
Within the zip file, attaching “Normal timings of daily process chains.xls” – the name explains it….
Also within the zip file refer “BPM Infoprovider and data source screen shot.doc” please refer this file as the infopackage (page 2) which was used in the process chain is not displayed later on in page number 6 BUT CHAIN GOT SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED
    We have analyzed:--
    1)     The PSA data for BPM process chain for past few days
    2)     The info providers for BPM process chain for past few days
    3)     The ODS entries for BPM process chain for past few days
    4)     The point of failure of BPM process chain for past few days
    5)     The overall performance of all the process chains for past few days
    6)     The number of requests in BW for this process chain
    7)     The load on CRM system for past few days when this process chain ran on BW system
As per our analysis, there are couple of things which can be fixed in the BW system:--
    1)     The partner agreement (transaction WE20) defined for the partner LS/BP3CLNT475 mentions both message types RSSEND and RSINFO: -- collect IDOCs and pack size = 1 Since the pack size = 1 will generate 1 TRFC call per IDOC, it should be changed to 10 so that less number of TRFCs will be generated thus less overhead for the BW server resulting in the increase in performance
    2)     In the definition of destination for the concerned RFC in BW (SM59), the “Technical Setting” tab says the “Load balancing” option = “No”. We are planning to make it “Yes”
But we believe that though these changes will bring some increase in performance, this is not the root cause of the abnormal behavior of this chain as this chain runs successfully on every alternate day with approximately the same amount of load in it.
I was not able to attach the many screen shots or the info which I had gathered during my analysis. Please advice how do I attach these files
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
Normally  index  creation or deletion can take long time in case  your database statistics are not updated properly, so can check  stat  after your data loading is completed and index generation is done,  Do creation of database statistics.
    Then try to recheck ...

  • The Application Takes long time to Start

    Hello All,
    We ar eon Unix->64 Bit-> Essbase 11.1.1.3.
Problem Description : The application is taking long to start up. around 5 to 6 minutes. This is very first time it is happening.
There were no specific changes done to the application in the recent releases.
I have tried all options 1. Compacating outline, 2. Purging the application log etc. all other applications respond good on this host except this. Usually any application should not take more than 1 to 2 minutes to start up.
There are no specific errors or XCP files recorded in the logs and folders.
    Appreciate your suggestions
    MS

    Thanks Jitendra and Prabhas,
I know i have posted this thread sometime back and later I had to jump on a New release, so did not get time to check your inputs.
Well I am back on this issue again. I have been working on various option to get this issues solved " start of App takes long time"
Here are some Details. We are on SunOs 64 Bit, has 12CU with dual core,  with Essbase 11.1.1.3 running on it. This is an ASO application and has just 7 dimensions, Out of which the ORGANIZATION Dimension is pretty huge with Multiple Hierarchies enabled ( Both Stored and Dynamic ) and has more than 20,00,000 members including the alternate hierarchies ( Shared members)
I did a smoke test by building dimension by dimension the app was startiung up in just *40* seconds. and when i reached the ORG dimension and added more than 70,000 memebrs . there i fall sick. the app now gets back to its old issue ( Takes more than 10 mainutes to start).
