IPhone 4S (contract-bound) working in other countries

Hi
I wanted to know if my ATT contract bound iPhone 4S will work in other countries like France and India where a SIM-card is used as someone told me that my iPhone is unlocked as long as I'm using ATT. If that is correct, is there any way to use/unlock my phone without paying additional charges in the respective countries.
Thanks

The iphone is locked to AT&T and cannot be used with a SIM card from any other provider.
You would have to pay for an international roaming plan from AT&T.

  • Will an iPhone bought in india work in other countries (UAE)?

i had bought an iphone 4 last month in India and now I am planning to go to Dubai (UAE). so do i have to get it unlocked ? If yes, then where can it be done, Apple service centres??

It should work and be unlocked, however if you bought it alongside a connection already ther in the pack, say vodafone or airtel, then you need to get it unlocked. You may try checking it by inserting some other carrier's sim and see.

    In a word, no.
    Refer to my previous post.
With France being the only exception that I'm aware of, the iPhone is being sold in each country as carrier locked with the associated provider.

Contract free versus SIM free are different. What you want to do is to wait for Apple to sell the SIM free version of the iPhone 6. See this explanation from the Apple 5S page that details this...
If you buy iPhone for T-Mobile, it will arrive with a nano-SIM card already installed that you can activate by visiting an Apple Retail Store or a T-Mobile store or by calling T-Mobile. If you buy a SIM-free iPhone, you will need to purchase a GSM-compatible nano-SIM card separately. In the United States, you can purchase such a SIM from AT&T or T-Mobile. When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5s from a local GSM carrier.
Also be aware warranty service is country specific. So if you buy a phone in the US and it develops problems you would need to return it for service in the US...

There are many people using the basic (i5) 2012 MacMini and even older ones to edit complex films in FCP X so you should have no problems.
I have been using FCP 7 and FCP X since they came out on my 2008 iMac Core 2 Duo and am thinking of getting the same model as you rather than pay the astronomic price for a new 27" iMac.
The performance won't be quite as fast but it will be at least 4 times faster at rendering than my old iMac.

Could be a problem with the contacts on your iPhone's connector.  Try cleaning the contacts using compressed dry compressed air, blowing on the contacts using your mouth being carefully not to spit, or using a very soft dry brush.

  • Will iPhone 5S (contract-free) work in Saudi?? With any carrier? And any sim card from any other countries (other than US)

Will iPhone 5S (T-Mobile contract-free) work in Saudi? With any other carrier? And any sim card from any other countries (other than US)

The phone will "work" with any standard GSM carrier.
However, LTE and iPhone features like FaceTime, iMessage, Visual Voicemail may not work unless you use a carrier that officially supports iPhones.

  • Does anybody know if the iPhone 5S will work in other countries too? I wanna bring one to Brazil with me

Read the specs and see if it supports the bands necesary to work in the countries desired.

  • Iphone Now and then later in other Countries?

If I were to buy an iPhone now from the States and then a year or two later leave the country, I am wondering if I can use the iPhone on a carrier that carries the iPhone? Are iphones registered to a particular country or something?
How about business trips out of the country? I am probably not gonna make any direct calls from my US line.
Keep in mind that I'll use a carrier that's carrying the iPhone in other countries.

  • If I buy my iPhone from the apple website can it work in other countries, if I buy my iPhone 5 from the apple website can it work in other countries

I have not yet bought the phone but I am wondering if I can put other SIM cards from abroad into it and how can I get a message engraved in it

You can only put other sims in if you purchase an unlocked iPhone.  If you buy one that is subsidized it is locked to a carrier and can only accept other sim cards if it is a Verizon iPhone...Verizon uses the CDMA radio, the GSM radio is unlocked.

  • IPhone bought in US - use in other countries?

So suppose I buy a 2.0 iPhone in the US. And go to England with it. iPhone is suppose to be live in London - but will my US-bought iPhone be able to access the British service?
If that answer is NO (like I suspect) there is there any (legal) way I can swap in a different SIM card for the iPhone that would connect to the British carrier?
Of am I just stuck and if I want to use an iPhone in London, I have to buy a British iPhone. If this is the answer... its not too palatable from my viewpoint.
    ---jon---

Funny but that's exactly my question... I travel a lot, to France and England. I would like an unlocked phone so that I can use their simm cards and get cheaper rates. Except with a phone bought in the US you are tied to them and I suppose this is good business for them as they charge roaming fees and calls cost 99c a minute!!!!! In Europe, and in-fact the rest of the world, no one buys a locked phone!!!
So why wont people just buy un-locked i-phones, and use them here with at&t and not be trapped into 2 year contracts......Any thoughts on what I am saying.......

  • Wan? sockets? not working in other countries

    Hello all,
I have two computers one of which is set up as a server that listens to clients using sockets.
    ok here is what happens:
--> when I connect to the server through lan - everything is fine
--> when I connect to the server using my neighbours wireless network - everything is fine
--> when my friend form Europe tries to connect to my server - BAM... , the page does not load...(I live in Canada).
I dont know what can be the cause of this. I tried to research such terms as WAN which I became aware of today, but I still dont fully understand concepts related to it.
Here is what displays when I go to my routers website:
    System
    Uptime      4day:2h:46m:49s
    Firmware Version      v1.2.5
    Wireless Configuration
    Mode      AP
    Band      2.4 GHz (B+G)
    SSID      My networkk
    Channel Number      11

    BSSID      00:02:72:4f:b6:bb

    Attain IP Protocol      Fixed IP

    Subnet Mask      255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway      192.168.1.254

    Default Gateway      74.56XXXXX
    MAC Address      00:02:72:4f:b6:bc
Could anyone explain to me what may be the cause of the above issue? Is my computer connecting to internet through WAN? If so, may this be the source of my problem?
Im still a noobie when it comes to networking so any little hints wil do.
    Paul.

If youd like, go to belox.gotdns.com and see whether the website loads.
Id appreciate it if you could tell me if it does load or not.It does not. I am now with the ISP using phone lines.
Here is what I think. You and your neighbor are on the same segment with the cable ISP.
I can bet his IP address is very similar to yours.
Your ISP does not allow you to operate servers. It's written in the contract.
They probably block the ports you mention somewhere up-stream inside their network.
Your server cannot be seen from that level up, but your neighbor is bellow that level.

  • Apple offering a pin for AT&T lock for iPhone 4S to be used in other countries.

My cousin just bought an iPhone 4 recently locked to AT&T and is currently living in the Philippines. He told me that if I would ask Apple, I will be able to get the pin to unlock my phone. I will be going to the Philippines as well and I need to get my phone unlocked. He contacted Apple and got the pin and got his iPhone 4 unlocked in minutes. My question is how would I get it?

"He told me that if I would ask Apple, I will be able to get the pin to unlock my phone."
    He is incorrect.
"He contacted Apple and got the pin and got his iPhone 4 unlocked in minutes."
    No true.
ONLY the carrier to which it is locked can unlock it.  No one else at all.  Not Apple - no one but the carrier to which it is locked.
