IPhone 5 Stuck Erasing After Freeze

My iPhone power button broke and now with the 3rd beta of iOS 8 it has frozen.  It would not do anything and could not be seen by my mac.  I had to do an erase from iCloud > Find My Phone and now its stuck with the rotating circle that it shows when it shuts down and its not changing and I can't do anything with it.  Any ideas?  Its an iPhone 5 with iOS 8 Beta 3 (JUST UPDATED TO 3!!!!).

Try swiping up from the bottom very bottom edge of the screen to reveal the Control Center. You should be able to turn off the rotation lock there (Round arrow with a lock in the middle)

  • Contacts won't stay on my iphone 4, they erase after I upload them.

I have my contacts saved to iCloud do I still have my contacts but when I upload them back on my phone the get deleted? I can upload them and go to my contacts and they will be there but then after about 10sexonds the erase and days no contacts? I've checked all settings, nothing changed unless something reset? I have contacts "on" so it should save. I have 2.9 GB free on my phone, I hard booted it, I backed it up and updated it on the computer, still nothing?
Also it says randomly it can't connect to a server when recieving mail even though I had 5 bars and wifi? Again nothing changed?
Lastly my phone won't update from the settings? Whatsoever up with it?
I've hard booted it so many times... What's wrong with it?
It's only 11 months old, will Apple replace it? Thanks

This appears to be related to the same issue afflicting FaceTime logins on iPad. You must go to wifi settings>advanced and put 8.8.8.8 in the DNS section. Not only does this enable FaceTime login it allows automatic selection. Click auto "on". It may reset to "off". Click again and it should stick on

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

    How crap is that?
    It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.

If you have a graphic of iTunes and a cable displayed on your iDevice then it is in Recovery mode.
Check this to try an "exit"

  • After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server.

After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server.  I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted."  I am locked out of my phone.  Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue and get the phone working again.  I will add that I am now trying to restore it on a different computer with a lower version of itunes, but the computer that it initially happened on had the updated itunes and gave me the same result ... nothing.  Thanks for your help in advance.

Try going to recovery mode as described here.  You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

If you never backed up your phone to iTunes and never backed it up to iCloud all of your content is gone forever.

  • HT201407 Per the "Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock" instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate.

Received an authorized unlock code from apple/AT&T for my off-contract 3GS (8GB). Per the “Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock” instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate saying “Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable”. I tried this again and again for countless times, no way! I have my old AT&T simcard and other carrier’s simcard. Both will not help. Please help me to activate and start using my phone.

  • Iphone 3g stuck in recovery mode(error 14) after failed 3.2.1 update

My Iphone is stuck in recovery mode after it failed to update to operating system 3.2.1 . When I press restore in itunes, the process stops at around the 20% mark and come up with error 14. I have already manually deleted and redownloaded the update 4 times, reinstalled itunes twice and created a new user on my pc and downloaded and update through this new user and disabled all security but I still keep getting the same error message. My pc is only six months old. I successfully updated the phone to operating system 3.1 a few months ago with no problems. Has anyone found a way to fix this?? This is ridiculous!!

This is the only way to make sure you've uninstalled itunes completely:
    1. Restart your computer.
    2. After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    3. Open the Program Files folder.
    4. Right-click the iTunes folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if iTunes was successfully removed.
    5. Right-click the iPod folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    6. Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    7. Right-click the Bonjour folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    8. Open the Common Files folder.
    9. Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    10. Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on.
    11. Open the Windows folder.
    12. Open the System32 folder.
    13. Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    14. Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    15. Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

  • After updating from ios 7.1.2 to 8.1.2, iphone got stuck syncing with itunes!

After updating from ios 7.1.2 to 8.1.2, iphone got stuck syncing with itunes!
I searched for some solutions on the internet and applied following fixes:
1- Disconnected iphone from PC and closed itunes.
2- Reset the iphone by holding down the On/Off button.
3- Connected iphone back to PC to sync with itunes.
Apparently this fixed the problem, and iphone synced with itunes.

same here, but now you can't downgrade to iOS 7.x, since apple has closed the verification server for that version.

  • After a download of an update too long, my iPhone is stuck, I can not use it. I tried to restore it but iTunes (latest version) crashes.

After a download of an update too long, I decided to cancel it and now my iPhone is stuck. I can not use it anymore. My Iphone can start but after that the apple disappears, I have a black background. I tried to restore it but iTunes (latest version) crashes. Whan can I do ??
    Thanks.

You mean you tried to hack/jailbreak it. ONLY the carrier a phone is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
You've voided your warranty and forfeited your right to support here and from Apple.  Congratulations. You now own an iBrick. Hope it was worth it.

You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

  • Stuck Pixels after Installing iPhone 2.0.1 Update

Has anyone else noticed any new stuck pixels after installing the iPhone 2.0.1 update?
As you can see in the image linked to below, my 8GB iPhone 3G began displaying a stuck pixel in the upper-left immediately after installing the 2.0.1 update. At first, I figured that this was an average stuck pixel that coincidentally appeared immediately after applying the 2.0.1 update. However, after further examination, I don’t think that this is a normal stuck pixel.
    http://skitch.com/macmanx/1igt/stuck-pixel
A few hours later, my mother updated her 8GB 1st gen iPhone, and as you can see in the image linked to below, she now has a vertical line of stuck pixels in the same region as mine. Since her stuck pixels also appeared immediately after installing the 2.0.1 update, I’m beginning to think that my stuck pixel may not be an isolated issue.
    http://skitch.com/macmanx/1i88/stuck-pixels
I have tried to restore both iPhones, adjust the brightness, apply light pressure to the stuck pixels, and run the Knox Pixel Fix for iPhone. Neither method worked. To further complicate the issue, the stuck pixels appear to flicker when viewed through the LCD screen of my digital camera.
Stuck pixels are (as the name implies) stuck, they do not flicker. This, added to the fact that the issue occurred immediately after applying the 2.0.1 update, leads me to believe that this may actually be a software issue, possibly involving a conflict between the display drivers in the update and the display hardware shipped with certain iPhones.
If you have also noticed new stuck pixels after installing the 2.0.1 update, I'd love to hear that I'm not the only one seeing this. And, if you have somehow managed to resolve the issue, I'd love to know how you did it.

As already pointed out, "stuck pixels" are hardware related. They will be evident all the time, regardless of the particular screen being viewed. If they show only on particular screens, it isn't a dead pixel, but a software/ driver issue. I see a horizontal line in my Unlock Screen that I didn't notice before 2.0.1, but I'm not sure I really looked for it before. However, I don't see it in other screens with a black background such as the Home Screen, indicating it has something to do with the Unlock Screen image, and not the LCD pixels.

  • IPhone 5 stuck in portrait mode after upgrade to iOS 8

iPhone 5 stuck in portrait mode after upgrade to iOS 8.
Phone was fine before the upgrade, iOS 8.1 did not fix the issue.
Have done a factory reset at Genius bar and they say it's a hardware issue and have gotten this response below:
"Now, when you perform an update to any iOS device many system checks are run to verify that all components are working as they should. This is part of the firmware update process. When these checks are run sometimes issues are detected, even if all seemed to be running well previously. When this happens one of two things can occur. Either the hardware will be deactivated completely, or it will be locked in a state of use so that the device can still be used. In the case of the gyroscope for screen rotation, the firmware locks in place so that while not perfect, the device can still remain on some functioning level. This is what appears to have happened when you updated. The software itself did not cause any failure, but it detected a currently upcoming issue and prevented it from becoming worse."
All I want is a replacement but they want me to pay £199 since it's out of warranty.
    Anyone have the same issue?

If the device is out of warranty you must pay the out of warranty replacement fee to have your iPhone replaced. If the phone was still under warranty the phone would have been replaced at no charge.

Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. Usually takes about 10 seconds time. If still problem. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Restore the Firmware.
