Iphone 5c charging problems

I recently bought an Iphone 5c...(about a week ago)
Everything was fine It updated, charged etc.
I get home and notice my phone is at 10% and decide to put it on the charger while I shower. I come back and its still at 10%. There is also no charging Icon.
My first thought..."maybe its the phone?"
I unplug the charger then I power it off and stick the slim USB piece into the phone. Obviously nothing happens. Then I decide to plug it into the outlet while still plugged into the phone. It turns back on.
I go " hm..maybe a coincidence?" So take an old android charger piece and plug in my Iphone USB and I get a message saying "unauthorized outlet or w/e"
So I'm guessing my phone can still read USB signals?
Could it be my charger? even though its brand new?

it sounds like you are unable to charge your phone with the included USB cable and wall charger. Use these troubleshooting steps from the following article to help you isolate or resolve the issue:

If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.

    Within the last month or so my iPhone 4 has gone from being able to charge with any pc, mac, cord, or power adapter I had laying around, to only charging sometimes with some power sources to now only charging with the sim card removed. With the card in I either get just the plug icon in the battery or "charging not supported with this device." I'm on the latest iOS with no pending updates.

    I woulld restore the iPhone to the factory settings and then set it up as a new iPhone.

  • Iphone 4 charging problem

    I have had the iphone 4 for approximately 2 months. This week my iphone has stopped charging. I have tried charging using the wall outlet as well as the usb port on my HP computer. In both cases the battery icon in the top right corner indicates that the charger is connected, however the battery level never increases. I have tried charging without the case on, but it makes no difference.
    I have also checked to make sure that wifi, bluetooth, and GPS functions are off and performed a system restore and have not had any different results. Any suggestions?

    If you've done all that you listed, make an appointment at an Apple store. Your phone is under a one year warranty & if found defective, will be replaced.

    I had the same problem with my Iphone4, very disappointed with advice from Apple store who wanted £126 just to look at it. Eventally took it to FixmyIphone in Great Portland St London who replaced the connector dock for £40, Great service, v pleased.

    No, the charging circuits won't allow the battery to overcharge.  You should let the battery run down until the phone auto shuts down once a month to keep the battery meter calibrated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    If your iPad indicates the battery has dropped to the point of auto-shutdown (about 1% charge) do not power up and use the iPad...doing so can cause permanent damage to the Lithium-Ion battery. If the unit will not charge from the wall outlet, and the charger works with other iDevices, can you borrow an iPad charger from someone else? That will tell you if the charger is working for lower power iDevices and not the iPad. If another iPad charger does not work with your iPad there is not much you can do but take/send it to an Apple source to have it checked.
    Please do not force the iPad to run the battery below the point at which it shutsdown.

    I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

    If your device has been jailbroken during the warranty, Apple will not service it.
    Maybe you missed that in this article:

    Take it to Apple and purchase an out of warranty replacement for it.
    Replacement is the only way to fix broken electronics.
