Iphone 5S low light video recording is very dark :(

Hello Friends,
I bought a new iphone 5S and its few days only since i have been using this phone
and i never tested video camera before.
recently i came to know while taking some video in a low light situation, i noticed that the video is **** dark and
it looks pathetic though in image mode the camera appeares to be good and its clearly brighter.
but when i switch to video mode it becomes very darker.
I did some comparison just to confirm my suspicion and in fact it turns out that videos are worse quality than videos that i shot with my iphone 4S, i tried all possible settings but nothing worked,
i did restore my phone twice by assuming it is a software issue however i still believe it might be a software issue because when i am using 3rd party app to take video everything is perfect. even if i am using the same camera feature through imessage/whatsapp by directly accessing camera it works fine.
i don't know what exactly the problem is
please friends help me....if anyone has faced the similar problem.
Thank you

Hello there, ankitnavgwal.
Good job on troubleshooting your issue so far. The following Knowledge Base article offers a great checkllist of practical steps for troubleshooting issues with iOS not functioning as expected:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on - Apple Support
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.

  • 6D low light video

    Hello,
I'm trying to shoot video in low light and I'm getting some extra hue and contrast.  When I shoot stills, what I see on the screen is what I see on my computer.  When I flip over to video (with out changing ISO or WB settings) the images are darker and have a green hue.
I need what I'm seeing on the screen of the camera to be what I see on my computer monitor after I download of the card.
    Any ideas?
    Current setting: Exp 1/30, ISO 8000, WB 3200, f-stop 2.8
What I've tried: IPB and All-I compression, different SD cards rated for different speeds, formatting the card with the camera, and shrinking still images to 1920X1280 - Same results ever case

I don't know about you, but my stills (RAW) are always darker than they are on my camera (6D); which is a jpg and might be part of the source.  It wasn't near as noticable on my 450D.   I just learned to adapt my eye and I check my histogram anyway.  But I'd say the actual image looks about a 1/2 stop darker on my computer than the camera.  I don't think it's abnormal to have small differences between the camera screen and computer.  THere are too many variables to deal with to be consistent.
The most obvious explanation for that phenomenon (which means that you've probably already considered it and ruled it out) is that you've turned up the brightness of the camera's display screen. That setting is independent of all else, and it's easy to turn it up when the ambient light is high and then later forget that you did it. And maybe you didn't have the screen turned up as high on your 450D.
Also, of course, even a RAW image gets darker if subjected to any white balance correction (because that correction can only subtract, not add, light). I'd expect the screen to display the corrected image, but conceivably it doesn't.
Yes, that was the first thing that crossed my mind, but not just that the setting was turned up, but that the display is simply brighter.  Although my old 450D seemed to be closer to the actual exposure it was terrible in the shadows.  Things would look black on the camera but I'd still have detail on the actual photo.
I didn't bother looking for a brightness setting on my 6D for several reasons.  1) the brightness is really nice when you're out in bright sunlight; 2) I recognize there are far too many variables to expect any consistency between a small jpg with settings applied on a 3" backlit LCD to a full sized RAW file on a calibrated IPS monitor in a dim room; 3) I check my historgram constantly,  I never trust what I see on the image, it's just a preview to get you in the ballpark; and 4) the IQ and recovery on the 6D is so good that I know if the image looks decent on the camera then I'll be able to make it work in post.

  • IPhone 4s low light blurry photos

All the pictures I take in low light settings are extremely blurry, sort of like foggy. Is this happening to any of you guys? I allow it to focus, but ALL of them come out blurry.

They did not exchange it. From what the genius told me is that HDR was on during low light situations and should be on. Not sure if it's BS or not. He said the 4S processes images differently because of the 5 lens, etc...
I never had this problem with the iPhone 4 though. I left HDR on all the time and thought it automatically turned it off during low light situations?
I havent tried anything since upgrading to 5.01 so I need to try taking low light pix.

  • N8 - Disable red light video recording

Any way to disable the red light during video record? Thanks

I tried all settings, and wherever i could find an option for turning the focus light off, i did.
So, i noticed that once i have settings on macro, it turns off the red light, but only for the first video shoot. If i pause, instead of stopping, and keep recording the video, it's alright.
But once i stop, the red light turns on again. In that case I have to restart the camera pro.
Not a perfect solution, but nevertheless, there is a solution.

  • Did iPhone have API for video recording?

Did iPhone have API to write an application for video recording?. I have read all the document about audio&video that release along with SDK beta5 but can't find anything about video recording, all they said is...
    Audio
Support for recording, processing, and playing audio files and streams.
    Video
Support for full-screen display of video files.
if currently iPhone don't have API for video recording, Did apple will develop it in future release of SDK?
    thank you.

Here is a link the the apple developer site that might help out.

  • Using the iphone to view a video recorded on a separate high speed camera

I use a high speed video camera to film athletic motion. Can I play this back on my iphone? The files are in avi format and would I require any adaptors. Thanks, I am very new to using the iphone.

Does anyone know what settings I should use to export a 1080p video for playback on iPhone4? I'm hoping to use the iPhone4 to playback 1080p video on 1080p monitor. Is this possible?
No. Only the iPhone 4S, iPad3, and TV3 currently support 1080p30 content. Even then the 1080p30 playback support for your monitor may depend on how the device is connected. The iPhone 4 is limited to 720p30 playback.
Is it possible to keep the higher quality for playback through a 1920x1080 hd monitor?  Otherwise, would I be able to sync a 1920x1080 mov file to a new iPad or other device?
Not on your current device. As previously stated, the latest generation of iPhone, iPad, and TV devices support a maximum 1080p30 playback capability but may be limited to lower resdolutions depending on your method of connection to your monitor. This information can be found on the Apple web site TechSpecs page for each respective device.

  • IPhone 3GS overheat after video recording

    Dear all,
Last Saturday I bought an iPhone 32gb white, after setting it as I wanted, I have made today a video.
The video lasted about 20 minutes, holding it at the bottom of the phone. Once the video was finished, I could almost not hold the phone due to the temperature.
Is there a recall action for those model? My phone is from a week 22 production.
I guess I am not the only one to have this problem but I would appreciate apple to exchange the mobile as I paid full price for it!

That seems a longish video (I've done no longer than a minute or so) and would likely consume considerable power and produce heat. I would expect the phone to be "warm" but not "hot". What was the remaining battery level at the end?
You should not expect a "recall action". You need to contact Apple directly since this is a user forum and a message here will not get the result you want.
Week 22 is a very early model. Mine is Week 23 and I received it on June 19.

The phone is less than two weeks old. I only started using the camera recently and the stuttering problem others described here is happening to me device. Also, the major problem I see now is the dark link appearing while in standby and during recording. It doesn't always come up but it happens a lot. Please view the video here:

Did this happen to anybody else ? is it definitely a hardware problem ?
This is a link to the whole video btw..

  • Low light camera issue

    http://youtu.be/ibR_mFxOIuw
when i take a low light picture my screen flashes white.  is this normal? it happens in night scene. also  i thought this camera could take images in darkness  but i can barely take pictures is low light. my subjects are very dark. My i phone 4s does a better job side by side with my lumia in low light. how is this possible. i cant even return it to att for another replacement because my 14 days is up and all they will do is send me a used phone. **bleep**. This is my second lumia 920  as the first had a battery issue. Im done .Im about to sell this thing on ebay and get a iphone. After 2 weeks nokia has ruin the wp8  experience for me. im so **bleep**.

That white flash you're seeing is most likely the autofocus assist light (i.e. uses the dual LED's next to the camera). In low light, it is suggested to turn the flash off anyway. It is normal behaviour. If you are still having problems, perhaps take your phone to a Nokia Care point instead. to locate your nearest Nokia care: http://nokia.com/suppot

  • Iphone shutdown during video recording

Hi folks! i've got several times a very strange problem during video recording. my iphone 4s (but it happened also to my brother iphone) shutting down during video recording giving the message about low battery.
to restart the iphone i need to connect to the battery charger but after the boot the battery is not drained. Today for example happened and the battery after the boot while connected to the battery charger was 53%.
As it happens also to by brother iphone 4s i don't think that it's an hardware problem, and the funny thing is that it happens in a random way. Some tims i'm able to register 1h of video without problems, other times 3m/5m  and the iphone shutdown.

This is happening with my Iphone 5 with latest iOS. I'll record video and it will rapidly discharge battery. If it shuts down and I plug it in two minutes later it will come back with over 50% battery.
I've drained it completely dead then charged it for at least 4 hours numerous times. I started a seperate discussion about this and my phone's horrible battery life in general.

  • Is there any video recording software for Iphone 3G?

I saw few video recording software for iphone but it support only jailbreaken iphones.is there any software for non-jailbreaken iphone?
    Regards
    Jo

I have an iPhone 3GS which includes video recording, so have no experience of any video recording Apps.
The only thing I know is that apparently they are all limited to 15 frames-per-second recording, due to the slower processor speed of the iPhone 3G.

  • New Updates - Video recording/more frames per second?

Just wondering if any future updates for the iPhone could include a video recording function? or is this impossible to do without changing hardware in the actual phone?
Also could it be possible for the camera to improve? mine at present captures a very low number of frames per second and you have to hold it extremely still or else it will take a blurred photo. Anyone think it will be possible for apple to improve the camera functions in an update?
    Regards,

There have been hackers that have created a video capture program for the iPhone. Its just a proof of concept right now but it does work.

  • Blurry, out of focus, grainy low light photos Noki...

    Hi,
I have had a Nokia N95 8GB since April and on the whole I am really happy with everything apart from the camera. Day time shots as far as I can tell are OK but night time/indoor/low light shots are a different story. A lot of shots are grainy, the flesh tones don't look right (face shots have odd red speckling) and very often the shots are simply out of focus or very blurred (like camera shake). This despite me trying to be very careful to keep the camera totally still. I have also experimented with different settings - custom, night portrait etc. All to no avail.
I have previously owned a Casio Exilim Z750 camera which I used to use when going out with my friends, but I was hoping that I could leave that at home as it didn't make sense to carry that as well.
Please has anybody else had similar problems? How can I fix this?
    thanks,
    Dom.

That sounds about right. Night shots (or low light shots) are not very good with the N95 or N95 8GB.
If you use the flash the subject needs to be about 1m from you otherwise the flash is useless.

  • 5d mark III focusing slowly/etc. in low light wedding receptions

I've been using 5d2s for a long time because I am simply not rich enough (and I don't want the huge body either) to buy 1d-series cameras for work. I've shot about 20 weddings with the 5d3 since I bought it, and I finally sent it in to Canon the other day for an autofocus checkup.
My #1 issue is reception autofocus. My 5d2s beat my 5d3 at reception focusing (with 580EX AF assist always used). They are more reliable for AI servo and faster for one-shot.
My 5d3 struggles to acquire in one-shot, taking probably close to 2 real seconds (it feels like forever) to establish and confirm a lock on a static subject during wedding receptions with lenses like 24L II, 35L, 50L. In contrast, in the exact same lighting conditions and with the same lenses and flash AF assist, my 5d2s all snap right to focus and I click the shutter within about 1 second or less, getting an in-focus image about 90-95% of the time.
With AI servo, the 5d3 is just inferior to my 5d2s in low light. I was hoping, one day, to get a camera that would give me the ability to track subjects well during processionals/grand entrances/reception dances using the outer points, because I'm pretty tired of being stuck with center-point framing for these situations. I thought the 5d3 was supposed to solve that problem, but in fact it took a step backward in low light AI servo accuracy and locking. My 5d2s (center point) both acquire faster and track better in low light than my 5d3 (center point also).
After sending the 5d3 in to get it checked (and so they could charge me $175+), I got a nice copy of the page saying that the camera focus in low light is blah blah etc. etc. use AF assist (which I had noted I did) and the overall feeling was that they were very condescending and disregarding of my equipment issue. To me, a $3500 camera should perform better than a camera that is now worth ~$1300...and so the 5d3 performs arguably better in GOOD light, simply because it has more focus points to choose from which are generally pretty accurate - in GOOD light. However, it performs worse in reception light. Wedding photographers will understand what I mean by reception light.
My 5d2 AI servo is not useless during receptions, but my 5d3 AI servo struggles more in the same reception lighting. My 5d2 one-shot locks quickly and pretty accurately during receptions, while my 5d3 takes significantly longer in one-shot to lock, and sometimes it gives me pretty wild misses, during receptions. Always using AF assist with 580EX, and btw the 5d3 firmware is the latest version (1.2.3 at this time). The camera simply focuses slower during receptions than my 5d2s, and AI servo misses more.
I also don't like that AF points don't light up before focusing, but this is less important to me than a fast, responsive AF system for wedding receptions. I have had to put away the 5d3 on multiple occasions and bring out a second 5d2 for wedding receptions just so I can get good dancing photos, good speech/toasting photos, etc., before all the key moments went by and ohhhh too late, my focus system didn't lock in time...
I have been having this issue with 5d3 performance since I bought it close to a year ago. I do wedding photography primarily, and I have quite a bit of experience shooting weddings and dealing with the various demands of weddings.
Most of my AF experience is with single point, with only a few experiences using the expansion settings.  I have never had trouble locking or tracking with single point with my 5d2s as long as there was enough light to do it, and being used to that I expected the 5d3 to be able to perform at LEAST comparably.  It does not.
At this point, this critical functional limitation of the 5d3 has left me very dissatisfied with the camera.  I thought upgrades were supposed to do everything just as well or better than the previous version, but this newest camera has shown me that more AF points definitely does NOT mean a better (or even comparable) AF system in every situation.  Clearly something was traded off when they added a ton of cross-type points, like low light acquisition speed and being able to see your AF points illuminate when you start AF.
I've been playing around with Nikon equipment for a while and am beginning to think that is my forced alternative.  I don't like the things I hear about Nikon customer support, and I don't really like the direction they are going with some of their releases or how they handled function issues (focus issues with off-center focus points, oil on sensors, etc.) but Canon isn't innocent of that stuff either.  And if I use an all-Nikon setup then I will have excellent dynamic range at low ISOs as well.  Too bad Nikon doesn't have the glass I like best (35L, 85L, etc.)...but compromises must be made in some direction, and I'm intensely frustrated with Canon's latest cameras' focusing systems in low light.
It's very specific, mind you: Low light performance is inferior to my 5d2s.  In good light, my 5d3 has better AF flexibility for tracking with outer points, and the one-shot focus acquisition is comparable to my 5d2s.

This singular issue of the 5d3 has ensured that I will never buy another one (unless they fix that, which they won't).  Unlike what I did with the 5d2 (upgraded to 5d2s towards the end of their product cycle), the 5d3 is too impaired for low light photography for me to be able to replace my 5d2s with 5d3s.  I can only hope the next generation will NOT have the same low light focus delays...otherwise I might have to buy a few 6Ds just to keep up with more current tech (since my 5d2s will wear out eventually).  I've heard they don't have the same doublechecking delay, but they also have other limits that I dislike (1/4000 ss, 1/180 flash sync, no pc sync port, SD memory only) and will have to work around.
