IPhone 6 WiFi Speed Half of Other Devices

Hello all,
I have an iPhone 6 (running iOS 8.2) As the title suggests, my iPhone 6 reaches about 50% of the WiFi speed of other devices on the same network.
The first image here shows my iPhone 6 running Ookla's SpeedTest and the second image shows an iPad Air (also running 8.2) running on the same network.
You can easily see the difference in the download speeds. I use a 2013 AirPort Express, which has 802.11n (the one that looks like an AppleTV)
I tried splitting the WiFi into 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands and the same results are found. (iPad gets 40/80, while the iPhone gets 20/40 on 2.4 and 5.0Ghz respectively)
Seems like no matter what download speeds are tested on the iPad (or even my 2011 Mac), the iPhone 6 gets only half of that.
Note, I've tested with other iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Pluses and all of the devices seem to have the exact problem, 50% of expected speed. Seems like only the iPhone 6/Plus is affected by this weird problem.
Has anyone else experienced such problem or have any solutions for this?

I have this issue too. My older iPad Mini Retina 2 reaches around 90 Mbps speed and my iPhone 6 is struggling to reach 59 Mbps. I was expecting higher WiFi speeds on it.
I've previously owned an Note 4 and I was having 150 Mbps WiFi speed, so the router is not the issue.
Router: Asus RT-N18U
Internet Speed 500 Mbps
Device: iPhone 6 with iOS 8.2 / iOS 8.3

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?

    Any error messages?
Try right next to the router
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Could it be this?
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

MacPro wireless is self assigning an IP address blocking access. It will connect if I connect to my iPhone hot spot via wifi. Any ideas?

If you follow this video you'll see how to delete your WiFi AP from the OS, this will allow you to select it again which I feel will correct your problem.

I have just updated the i06 software for my iPad and it will not connect to my home wifi network - all my other devices are able to connect to my wifi network.
I have attempted all troubleshooting actions suggested and nothing has worked. I have restored my iPad network and factory settings - Please help - this is frustrating me

you have to set up your router to solve th problem. first find and write down the ipad mac address.
then log on to your router using your laptop or any device that can connect to router at 192.168.0.1 in your web browser. please check out my posting about how to resolve the wifi connection problem.
i think the ios6 update has reset the networking but if you set up the router then you should not have the same problem any more.

my iphone 6 dose not detect other devices via bluetooth?, it just keeps searching!

    Hello,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need more information regarding what devices you are having an issue with to provide a better answer. However, most devices need to be placed in pairing mode before you will see them.  Try going through the article below as it may help with this scenario.

  • TS1398 My iPhone 4 won't connect to my home WiFi, but all my other devices are connecting to it just fine. Please help!

Hey everyone, I have been having this problem for about a day or two now. I have an iPhone 4, and have iOS 7.1.2. Basically, my iPhone will connect to my home WiFi sometimes, but it randomly loses connection and won't connect for hours upon hours. I have tried turning it on and off multiple times as well as resetting the network settings. I know that it is not my network's problem because a member of my family has an iPhone 5S, and it works fine with the WiFi, along with all of my other devices. This issue is getting very annoying as I don't like to use my cellular data at home since it is limited. Please help me!!

  • IPhone 6 and 6 plus jumping on and off wifi.. All other devices working properly

I recently purchased the iPhone 6 and iphone 6 plus and now having wifi issues. Sometimes they will stay connected for a couple of hours other times it will jump on and off 10 times on in a couple of minutes. Also note that I have a iPad mini,5c,4s,and all are staying connected properly. I called my internet provider and everything checked out ok. I also connected Apple and went through all the settings and checked out ok. They suggested a new router... not sure that would be it since all other devices are working fine. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

I have the same problem. iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1

  • IPhone wifi speed set at slower speed

My iPhone4 has a speed checker onit that I would use for a quick check as to if there was any speed problems but in the last week or so the speed has been maxing out at 6 meg . Checking or pc and laptop shows not speed change normal speed is 13-14 meg but when I checked the home hub wifi connections my iPhone shows a speed of 6meg .as if the hub has set it to that speed . Any ideas why or how I can rectify this throttling of speed to the phone . Normally the phone records a speed maybe a meg or two slower than the pc . Also strange as well is when I check speediest.net on laptop it shows me as being near Newcastle when I live in Eastbourne . This did rectify for a few day but has know chqnged back again . Don't think this has anything to do with it but just a little strange .

Cheers keith . After looking up the iPhone has wireless n but it's 2.5ghz not 5ghz . Would changing wifi settings to wireless g solve this problem ? Would the iPhone wifi still work on wireless g. I would assum all other devisees are wireless g on home network
The home hub only uses the 2.5gHz band as it only has one radio module.
Changing the hub to wireless "g" only, should improve things, if you have no wireless "n" devices.
    Give it a try.

  • Iphone Wifi speeds are less than 3G speeds after setting up Airport Extreme

Hello everyone. I've been searching long and hard for an answer with no success. I'm hoping someone here can help me out. A few weeks ago I upgraded my speed on my ISP from 30Mbps down and 4Mbps Up to 50Mbps down and 8Mbps up. I used to have a WRT54G Linskys router which gave me great speeds on my ipads, iphone, Apple TV and both windows based computers. The other day I switched the Linskys out for an new AirPort Extreme. I Set it up and the speeds on all my devices were constant around 35 down and 8 up. I left the default settings on the AirPort Extreme. Then a few days ago I set up the security for my router, WPA2- Personal. Checked the speeds and my computers, ipads are running great but now my iphones are doing constantly for the last 3 days 1Mbps down and 8Mpbs up. So last night I tuned off my security and than the iphone was back to normal speeds. I'm pretty much confused now. Any ideas? Seems like the security setting are doing something here.
