Iphone falls to springboard when mobile internet is on

i bought my new iphone 4s today, but when my mobile internet is on, all my apps shuts down to the startingpage, even when i'm sending a message or when i'm in my setup...can someone help me or should i go back to the store?
tnx in advance

You are correct... I thought I mentioned but I see I did not... my heating issue occurs on EDGE as well... not just if WiFi is enabled.
The key to the heat-up is that the mail application gets hung in a data operation.
Look at your EDGE data usage when this happens, I guarantee it is a VERY large amount. If you reset your usage stats and then a heat-up occurs, you'll see a huge amount of received data.
It is dangerous, so I've had to turn off automatic checking. I sent engineering my temperature readings as well as a description of when/how the issue occurs with the mail application as the cause. No response in 4 weeks, so in the interest of safety I have had to turn of auto check.
This has happened with 4 different units, and happens with the 2 current units I own. It is definitely software related. I haven't swapped this one yet... but will when they resolve the issue because the components have been heat stressed... to the point of smelling that smell.

• IPhone 2g mobile internet problem. Please help!

Hi All,
I need your help to clarify the situation.
I am the user of iPHONE 8GB since October 2007.
Most recently, I found my phone bills have mobile internet access fee which I did not use (I left my iphone at home during my travel from Jan 13 - Feb 5, 2009). I made several phone calls to Fido, Canadian cellular telephone service provider to understand the matter. They gave me different sets of story. Today, their representative said that might be caused by Apple by sending the data to update my iphone.
Would somebody help me to understand the situation.
Thanks,

Maybe someone borrowed your iPhone while you were away. Why'd you leave it behind anyway? I thought the whole idea of having a mobile phone was to take it with you. Can your provider at least tell you where the calls originated from? I mean what sites were visited? If you are not Chinese and your provider can tell you that all the charges relate to visiting sites in Chinese, then that might give you a clue.
As the proud owner of a new 3G phone for only a week I am pretty much of a virgin when it comes to iPhone problems. Haven't even got my first bill yet.
In addition I have a wireless network in my home and unless I am actually making a phone call I don't even unlock the SIM. My router is always switched off whenever I am not at the computer so no-one can park their cars out the front and use it.

• IPhone 5 mobile internet not working - tried everything

Mobile internet on my iPhone is not working properly, regardless of the protocol (edge or 3G). It's the strangest problem possible and so far I've tried everything to fix the problem, but nothing helps.
Here's the deal:
- when I switch from wi-fi to 3G/E, everythings seems normal (there's the sign 3G or edge on the screen), but there is no internet connection
- I have to go to settings, switch off 3G and switch it back on and the internet starts working. It solves the problem also if there's only edge signal, which makes it even more strange.
- when I switch back to wi-fi and then again back to mobile network, the same problem occurs and the same solutions applies
- the same happens when I drive in my car and the phone switches between two carrier's antennas or if I switch on the airplane mode/reset the phone
I've used the iPhone since it came out and had every version, so I consider myself an advanced user. In order to try to solve the problem I tried everything possible:
- checked cellular data information
- reset network settings
- restored the phone
- updated the iOS
- manually deleted cellular data and entered it again
- went to my carrier to get a new sim card
- had the carrier analyze the problem on a case study (I sent over location data and time), but they found no mistakes on the network
- went to Apple and got my iPhone replaced TWICE
So I eliminated the following:
- settings error
- carrier error
- hardware error
The only thing I have left now is the exorcist.

• Sharing Mobile Internet from Mac to iPhone via WiFi

I am using a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.9.3.
I am using the internet via a mobile USB stick that I bought today. The set-up worked perfect and I have no problem accessing the internet on my mac! Earlier today I chose to share the connection so I could use my iPhone & iPad. I then went away for 20 min, and when I came back I couldn't share my internet connection anymore.
I've tried closing and opening the internet, choosing to share my connection via bluetooth, but nothing helps. I've set it to share the connection via HUAWEI Mobile (which is the name of the USB) and to computers using WiFi. The exact same settings I used before, when it worked. And now it doesn't
I've tried using the "create network option", but when I choose to join the network on my iPhone it says that "the computer isn't connected to the internet" -even though I am!
What happens when I try to share my connection: The "shared connection symbol" (arrow in the wifi symbol) shortly flashes up, but then it seems to be searching for another wifi connection, doesn't find it (the reason I bought mobile internet: There is no wifi here) and then the symbol is just light grey (= no wifi).

No.

• IPhone as mobile internet for laptop?

Is it possible to use the iPhone as a mobile internet dongle when connected to a laptop? I'm in the market for a new phone and a mobile broadband account and it would be a deal clincher if I can get both in one.

Unlike some people it seems, I work for a living as a pilot, not spending my days like an IT geek surfing forums. So apologise for the delay in looking back in at this thread which you seem to think is an appropriate reason for insulting me.
I have the tethering app installed on my iPhone and it works fine. You use WiFi to connect to the phone which creates a shared connection.
I have no idea if it was removed or not...

Well, yes, I know that - I linked to the developer's site for the app you are referring to in my initial response to the OP (click on "only one" in the second post in this thread; in actuality, that app was posted on 7/31, removed later that day, reappeared the afternoon of 8/1, and was pulled again a few hours later, so it was available for probably less than 24 hours in total, but over a two-day period).
Given that, I did not really expect a reply from steve copeland, but I thought I'd ask anyway (even though my question was 60% rhetorical and 39% facetious).

My iPhone 5 won't use 3G when 4G isn't available. I live in the middle of nowhere, but with my iPhone 4 I could use the Internet on 3G just fine without needing wifi. Now I don't get anything unless I'm on wifi. My phone says '4G' but then says 'could not activate cellular data' or gives me the gray google failed because you dont have internet page. I have AT&T if that matters. I just want to get Internet and my email like I used to be able to. Slow 3G is fine with me, but I need it to work on my iPhone 5. Can anyone help me?

Oh ok, thank you! So I just got a bum SIM card when I bought this phone or something?

• Planet 3 mobile internet on unlocked iphone?

I have a miniSIM and im recieving and sending calls/texts perfectly fine on 3 $29 cap + 700mb(or so?) data with my iphone 4S.
Im not sure how to connect to planet 3 to access the free social networking, news, etc, and also my mobile internet. On other phones I there was a dropdown list, with MMS, mobile internet, planet 3 and wifi to choose from but I cant seem to find it on here.
Thanks.

Virgin mobile is a supported carrier in Canada. They are NOT supported in the U.K. I'm not saying it won't work, but if you're in the U.K. You'll need to contact them for assistance setting it up.

• HT4914 can you download songs from itunes match from the cloud to your iPhone ie for times when you dont have internet connection

can you download songs from itunes match from the cloud to your iPhone ie for times when you dont have internet connection?

Unless you have an Internet connection you cannot access iCloud. You can download your music from iCloud to store permanently on your iPhone, but only when you have an Internet connection to do so.

• Whenever i open itunes on my iphone it shows "Cannot connect to iTunes" even when my internet connection is fine.

Whenever i open itunes on my iphone it shows "Cannot connect to iTunes" even when my internet connection is fine.

Try restarting the iPhone.
If that doesn't do it, one thing that others have done to fix this is manually set the date and time a few months out (Settings > General > Date & Time), test it again, and then set it back to the correct time.
You can also take a look at this Apple doc for other ideas -> Can't connect to the iTunes Store

• I am using mobile internet from my iphone 3g.Can we have any option to use internet on computer using my iphone

Hi,
I am using mobile internet from my iphone 3g.Can we have any option to use internet on computer using my iphone

you can't bypass activation. Your phone needs to be activated for any of the functions to work.
This problem happens often to phones previously jailbroken. Is this the case?

• I hve unlocked iphone and got walmart family mobile. I was issued a phone number initially with phone and then I had them change it. Now when I send texts caller id people see is the original phone number, and when I call it is the new number.

I have unlocked iphone and got walmart family mobile. I was issued a phone number initially then asked for a different one. Now when I send text messages, they show up the original number, but when I make phone calls, the id shows up the new number, I can recieve text messages to both numbers. If you try to call the first number it says it is not a working number. On my phone, if I go under "about" it says "my phone number" and it says the second number, under settings, and messaging, it says that I send and recieve messages from the original one. T-mobile, has no idea why this is happening and has tried everything to fix it

This is for iMessages only, not for text messages as in SMS/MMS.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID.
Select your Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out.
Turn iMessage off at Settings > Messages > iMessage.
Then follow these instructions.
You can remove an iPhone from your support profile by following these steps.
Step 1: Click on this link to open the login window of your support profile.
Step 2: Log into the website using your Apple ID – same as your iTunes login.
Step 3: Click on the button ‘Edit products’ and select the iPhone that you want to remove from the list.
Step 4: Click on the arrow behind the product, and then click on the button ‘Unregister’ to delete the iPhone from your support profile.
After you unregister your iPhone, on your iPhone go to Settings > Messages > iMessage and turn iMessage on.
Go to Settings < Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Sign back in with your Apple ID.
This should re-register your iPhone with your Apple ID with iMessage with the new phone number only.

Try:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
Or it could be an Apple problem and you will have to wait.

You only asked the question 4 times. You have to repeat it at least 10 times to get an answer here, and then only if you supply useful info about your phone.
