Iphone hacked.  Should I change my iCloud password?

Friends in my contact list have been receiving spam (bogus) email from my contact list.  The return address is one I never use (only my iPhone).  At this point, should I be changing my iCloud security settings (i.e. password)?  Help!

Your phone was not hacked. Your email was compromised. You should change the password for whatever email address your friends are getting the bogus email from. It's not a bad idea to change your Apple ID password periodically and you shouldn't use the same password for all of your accounts.
Best of luck.

You should consider enabling two-factor verification on your Apple ID, to further protect it. Without doing that, it's entirely possible that a hacker who gains access to your account in the future could take control of your Apple ID away from you entirely.
You also should consider whether any confidential information might be stored in iCloud. If you have made the mistake of putting a list of passwords in the Notes app, for example, that list should be considered compromised, and all passwords should be changed (and removed from the Notes app).
If you used the same password as your old iCloud password for other accounts, you need to change the password on all those accounts.
You should also alert your contacts that your e-mail was compromised, so that they are cautious about trusting any attachments supposedly coming from you. Keep in mind that the spammer can continue to "spoof" your e-mail address on the From line of new e-mail messages, even without access to your e-mail account.

  • How can we change our icloud Password?

Dears I have to change my icloud password as i have forgot my secret question's answer, please guide me how can i change it to make it secure for future use. thanks.

Go to https://getsupport.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'.
When you come to change your password you should follow this method:
    1. Before doing anything, turn off 'Find my iPhone/iPad/Mac' on any devices it's enabled on.
    2. Sign out of iCloud on all your devices. On a Mac, System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'. On an iOS device, Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account' (this will not delete the account from the server). Your iCloud-synced data will disappear from your device. If offered the opportunity to save it on your Mac, don't.
    3. Go to http://appleid.apple.com, sign in and click 'Password & Security' in the sidebar. Answer the security questions, if set, and then click 'Edit' next to the password field. Save.
    4. Sign back in on all your devices. Your data will re-appear (give it time). You can now re-enable 'Find My...'.
    5. I reiterate, before your start, turn off 'Find My...' or you will probably need the services of Support.

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • HT4968 Changed my iCloud password and have lost all calendar entries, how do I get them back?

I changed my iCloud password while working on my PC desktop and now I have lost all my calendar entries on my iPad and iPhone apart from repeat appointment entered prior to the change to iCloud.
How do I get entries back?

If you backup your iPad, the entries may be in your backup but only the entries as of the date of the last backup will be in there. You can try restoring from a backup which will also restore everything in the backup onto the iPad. You can't just select the calandra entries to be restored.

  • TS3988 my contacts on my Iphone disappear when I enter my ICloud password

My contacts disappear on my IPhone 4 when I enter my ICloud password.  Anyone else having the same problem, and what is the solution?

Prior to entering your iCloud ID and password, when turning on iCloud, were you using some other account?  When switching accounts, data from the old account are deleted from the device.  Otherwise when you turn on iCloud, you should still have the old contacts listed in "On My iPhone".  Its the "iCloud" grouping that would contain new contacts that you enter to sync with icloud.

  • After having a device stolen I set up a remote wipe then changed my icloud password.

After having a device stolen I set up a remote wipe then changed my icloud password.
But now that device is no longer showing up in Find My iPhone. Is it still going to be erased?

It's fine if they get a fresh device it was an older I use iPod touch. What I'm worried about is any personal information like my synced contacts from two years ago. Will it still get erased if I activated an erase before changing my password? Even if it fell off the device list after the password change.
    1.) lost the device
    2.) activated an erase
    3.) changed password
    4.) device left the list
After all that will it still be erased?

  • TS3376 if I change my iCloud password it will log me out of "find my Mac" on a lost device?

My laptop was stolen. I do not want the thief having access to my notes, email, and other iCloud info. From my understanding, if I change my iCloud password it will log me out of those accounts. But my question is: will "find my Mac" no longer work since I'm logging out?

It does not log out of all of devices, but when the user tries to use an app that is tied to your ID, it will sync with immediately sync to the Cloud, since you have a new password, a message popup will appear asking for the new one. But before that the lock from Find My iPhone will leave the phone unusable.
I'm explaining this because if the user who stole your iPhone and “is not connected” to wi-fi, a computer or using cellular data, there's no way to send that request until the device is requesting data from iCloud.

  • Is there anyway for me to change my iCloud password when the email associated with it has been banned and i cannot access the emails to change my password.

i need help to see if there is anyway to change my icloud password when the recovery emails are being sent to an email that i no longer have due to microsoft terminating it. The i cloud account is different to the apple id that is being used on the phone and does not allow me to back up or load a backup for my phone as i have to put in the icloud password which i cannot remember. I have tried to factory reset the phone to see if that will wipe the icloud account from the phone to set it up as a new phone but it seems to be permanently 'logged in' even time i try to set it up as a new phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is becoming very annoying and means i cannot use the phone to back anything up so that the phone can be wiped so it can either be given away or sold.
    Thank you in advance.

Contact Apple and speak to someone in account security.

What do you mean by "shared screen?"  Are you using a special app that lets the ipad act as an external monitor for a computer or are you trying to remotely control another computer using a shared screen?

How to reset your Apple ID security questions.
Go to appleid.apple.com, click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email)
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'.  This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or  there is no rescue email link available, then click on 'Temporary Support PIN' that is in the bottom left side, and generate a 4-digit PIN for the Apple Account Security Advisor you will be contacting later.
    Next, go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
    A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.
