Iphone is in the middle of updating, left with the option of restoring, dont want to lose info previously on it, how to prevent that?
All I am really concerned about is are my contacts and my music. My contacts are in iCloud...but my music, is gone from what I can tell. My previous laptop had a hard drive crash which contained all my updated music, i was unable to backup that data onto an external hard drive. So i was hoing in due time when i reached an Apple Store, see what they would be able to do for me; their apple, they could save my music I have now, let me update my iPhone and put the music back on. Well silly me hooked up my iPhone to a temp netbook I have and it updated itself. now I'm left with the option of restoration. I want my music, getting contacts is easy. What do I do?
If you purchased music from the iTunes Store, no worries, you can simply download it again with the one caveat that the music is still available in the Store.
Everything else is probably gone.
Due to the prevalence of viruses and other crud that infests Windows computers, there are many questions every day on Apple Support about Windows computers that crashed, leaving iPhones without their backup. Macs are not totally immune from crashes but they are much rarer, and every Mac sold has software that makes the tedium of backing up your data completely forgettable. All you need is an external storage device - an external hard disk or a Time Capsule. The Mac takes care of everything else.
If you replace your crashed notebook with another Windows box it is just a matter of time before this happens again.
The iPhone is not a backup device. Extracting its content is not easy and Apple has no magical way of doing so. There are third party tools that claim that ability so search with Google for possible solutions.

Help if you can. I have always had a problem trying to use Apple products because I don't like being forced into doing something. I have always liked Apple products once I get it set up but if I up date to a newer product I always have problems getting my new device the way I want it. Here I am again. Can someone help?
Your choice. If you like what you have set up, then back the old one up, and set the new one up based on a restore from previous backup.
If you want a fresh start, set it up as new. You can regret any apps from the app store for free, as long as you use the same apple Id. -
Even when I highlighted in a seperate window that I want PDF open automatically with the PDF reader I always get this confirmation window to choose from. Is there a way to stop getting this confirmation window ?
To perform a test I had with IE browser that by default selected PDF reader it does not ask me each time which option to choose from.Could you indicate what you have selected here:

In the search box, type pdf and wait for the list to be filtered. On the right side, what do you have selected in the drop-downs? Do any of them behave the way you want?
If the problem only occurs on certain sites, it's possible that the site sending a generic content-type header rather than a pdf-specific content-type header. Firefox doesn't look at the file extension to decide which program to use in that case, it simply lets you choose. -

You will have to move your website to another server, but you can continue using iWeb. See this information from Old Toad:

Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken. All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options. There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. iphone 4s stopped in middle of update (via wireless). apple logo and usb picture appeared on phone. When i plugged in to computer, indidcated I would have to restore. in the middle of restoring, i got a "unknown Error" (1) code and the apple id and usb picture are frozen on screen. It sounds like you are getting error code 1 when you were attempting a restore. I would use these troubleshooting steps from the following article which mentions that error code:

Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

I was updating my iPhone 4 to 6.1 and it froze. It has an iTunes logo and picture of a usb port on the screen. It gave me the option to restore settings, which I don't want to do. Now the phone is frozen. Any ideas how to get the phone back?
Im sorry to hear that. You need to restore like brad said.
But you can restore from a latest backup from itunes after restore. I hope you had a recent backup made.

Your WiFi/Bluetooth chip has failed. Bring the phone (and $199 if outside the warranty period) to Apple for replaceement.

I was in school earlier today and noticed that my iphone 4 needed an update, so started the update then after like 2 mintues my phone turns off and when i tried to turn it back on it told me to connect to itunes. Sorry, you have no choice but to restore your phone now. If your data was not backed up before you attempted to update, it is gone.

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed. -

Before you restore the iPod from the backup that Dave had you make yu have to transfer stuff from the iPod to the computer since the backup does not contain the apps themselfes, music, synced phots and some other stuff. To see what a backup contains see:

The iPad cover lock is for when you use a cover with magnets in it to lock and unlock the iPad when you close the cover or open it. Try running a refrigerator magnet along the sides of the iPad and see if that trips the iPad Cover Lock back into the settings.
That is not the same thing as the iPad Auto Lock setting which allows you to set an allotted time before the iPad goes to sleep.
You can try resetting all settings to see if the Auto Lock feature retinrs to the iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. This can be a little time consuming re-entering all of the device settings again.
