IPhone SDK installation problem
Hi All,
I have a problem installing the iPhone SDK.
In the installation process, "Installation Type" page, the page you can choose modules either you want to install or not. I see "iPhone SDK" module is listed, but i couldn't select it, it's greyed out and it is not checked by default. So i had to continue like this, after installation, i couldn't open any iPhone sample code at all. XCode said i don't have iPhone SDK installed.
I downloaded the SDK from ADC days ago.
I upgraded my mac to 10.5.4, also upgraded iTunes to 7.7
are there any other prerequisites?
excuse me i'm quite new to this community.
you mean the iphone sdk can not be installed on apple's own hardware?
is apple switching the focus to x86 architecture? are there any background information that i should take a look at?
appreciate it.

Hi
I just downloaded the iPhone SDK, and was about to install. I already have the latest version of XCode installed.
During the installation process, I see that the SDK has some common components that are already present with XCode. Would it be a problem if I try to reinstall these components ?
Or should I select the iPhone SDK component alone and proceed with the install ?
Any suggestions / advice on this would be great.
Regards,
VinayXCode 3.0 comes with Leopard.
XCode 3.1 comes with the SDK.
There's a Readme somewhere that tells you about this. It suggests that if you don't want to overwrite your XCode 3.0 then you can specify, during installation, that 3.1 should be installed in a different location.
Whether there's any harm in replacing 3.0 with 3.1 I don't know, but clearly some people are worried enough about it for the parallel installation to be documented. -
I have just made the account and started the long download process for the iPhone SDK. When I download the file and it completes the process, I click on it and it says Disk Image not able to mount. I tried that three more times and it still won't open. Any suggestions?
Another victim here. Happily started downloading iphone SDK just after purchasing my new MacBook and it always stops at 2.1 GB. And of course it is corrupted.
For those who are thinking about OS or firewalls, here are my trials:
1. From my MacBook at home
2. From my HP laptop at home
3. From my desktop at home
4. From my HP laptop at work
5. From my Ubuntu at home
6. From my Ubuntu virtual machine at work.
Do you think it is still a client problem? Or the version on the server is corrupted? -
I installed the SAP Business One SDK and it seemed to install fine. However, when I go to add a reference to my .Net project, I do not see the SAP Business One DI API Version 2007 as a COM reference. Is there something else that I need to install? I installed this on my local developer machine which is a Windows 2003 Server machine.
Thank youHi,
The SDK installation can be installed separately but the SDK is just the documentation and samples and doesn't include either the DI API or UI API COM objects. The DI API is automatically installed as part of the client installation but can also be installed separately from the B1_SHR shared folder that is created during the server installation.
Kind Regards,

IPhone SDK Installation Queries
Hi,
I have just installed iPhone SDK which I basically installed Xcode 3.1 over the existing Xcode 3.0, so I assume everything got installed under the Developer directory.
My queries are:
a) When I fire up Xcode 3.1 (beta), I am presented with the "Welcome to Xcode" screen and currently places me into the "Documentation" tab but when I click on "Xcode User Guide", I get a File not Found error message - anyone else getting this after installing Xcode 3.1? how to fix?
b) Where is the best place to start learning Xcode + Objective-c + Cocoa?
Thanks.Hey Tfat.
I want to start making iPhone apps myself and as above my story is similar to yours so far. lol.
I have no knowledge of C, C++ or Objective-C.
I did a quick Google search and found there are three very nice eBooks at Spiderworks.com
Learn C (where I am right now)

Java EE SDK Installation problems...
I have been having a great deal of difficulty installing the
Java EE SDK application from this downloaded file
java_ee_sdk-5_02-windows.exe
The installation appears to proceed normally for a while then aborts with a dialog that references the installation log.
I have tried installing this a couple of times and every time it fails, I have deleted the C:\SUN\... folder and the installation script tells me that the folder is still present and requires a new folder for installation.
I assume that there is some leftover junk in the registry that is upsetting things, but this still doesn't explain why the installation log is complaining that it can't find some path somewhere...
Can someone point me in the right direction? See the log file contents below:

Im not sure why but i cant get any .pkg files to install properly. At some point in the installation the UI becomes totally un responsive and i get the spinning beachball of death. This happens for me with various pkg files, namely the iPhone SDK installer and the Onyx installer package?
Does anyone have any ideas?See my post with this same post date in the topic iLife '09 installation problems; run preflight script error for one possible cause of this behavior.
It also could be that you need to run the "Permissions Repair" option in Disk Utility's First Aid tab to correct some permission on a system file used during the installation procedure; that your drive's file system needs to be repaired with the "Repair Disk" option; or that the drive does not have adequate free space to complete the installation. (As a rule of thumb, try to leave 10 to 15% of the startup volume's capacity free, or at lease 5 GB over & above whatever the installer tells you is needed for the install itself.)
As a general rule, it is a good idea to quit all other applications before doing an installation that uses Apple's Installer.app, & it may be necessary to disconnect non-essential peripherals (everything except the keyboard, mouse, & monitor) & restart before doing so. You should also consider removing any hacks or uninstalling any third party "enhancers" that modify basic system behavior before doing installs, or at least making sure that the latest versions of such things are installed. (Some "enhancers," especially "Application Enhancer" -- a.k.a "APE"-- are installed by other third party products & their developers do not always make that clear, so do not assume one of these things is not on your Mac just because you have not installed it directly.) -

IPhone SDK with iPod Touch 2G problem
I installed the SDK last night but when I went to plug in my iPod Touch 2G, I got the error message: 'Unable to locate a suitable developer disk image. Please re-install the SDK'
I have reinstalled the SDK many times but still get the same error message. Any help appreciated.
Thanks{quote}He's talking about the iPod Touch, not a regular iPod{quote}
Yep, I know. Do a Google search for "Unable to locate a suitable developer disk image". Found this on the comments of [this blog post|http://www.tbradford.org/2008/03/iphone-sdk-beta-2-possible-ppc-fix.html]:
{quote}
If anyone else runs into the "Unable to locate a suitable developer disk image." problem, there's a package called "DeveloperDiskImage" in the iPhone SDK that needs to be installed.
As of 2.1, these are the extra packages that you need to install manually:
iPhoneSDKHeadersAndLibs
iPhoneSimulatorPlatform
iPhoneHostSideTools
iPhoneDocumentation
DeveloperDiskImage

Another [blog post|http://khakionion.blogspot.com/2008/09/iphone-sdk-21-doesnt-include-ipod-t ouch.html#links] says:
{quote}
The problem is that the huuuuuge iPhone SDK 2.1 installer doesn't come with the iPod touch 2.1 firmware image. Suck. Fear not, though: All you have to do is force iTunes to do a firmware restore, which will download the appropriate image. On next launch, Xcode will find it and everything will work great.

1.4.2 SDK Windows installation problem
Hello,
I have installed the SDK under the C:\Program Files\Sun directory without any error messages. I tried to start the domain "domain1". I get the error message shown below. I am aware that the SDK has problems with space characters in directory names. However, I installed the software using C:\Progra~1\Sun as the install directory. After reading some of the other postings, I created the environment variable SUNPATH and replaced all PATH references to SUNPATH. This did not help. Is it impossible to install the SDK under the "Program Files" directory?
Thanks!

IPhone SDK custom installation, what do I need?
FYI, I will be developing iPhone Apps only and don't want to install unnecessary things.
Options are:
Developer Tools Essentials (Required.)
iPhone SDK (Obviously need.)
System Tools (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
UNIX Development Support (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
Mac OS X 10.3.9 Support (Know I don't need, not developing anything for OS X, particularly not an old version.)
WebObjects (Do I need? It's NOT checked by default.)
Thanks.Hi--
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
System Tools (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
I would suggest "yes." That's the installer for the performance tools. Shark, especially, can be invaluable for profiling your code.
UNIX Development Support (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
I'd suggest "yes." It's command line tools you might want at some point (to help in automating builds, etc.). Some aspects of scripting with OS X can also be made easier if you have the UNIX dev support installed.
WebObjects (Do I need? It's NOT checked by default.)
Definitely not, that's a web application framework you'd use if you were building a web site.

Java ME SDK 8.0 EA Netbeans plugin installation problem
We have been getting reports that some developer had trouble installing the Java ME SDK 8 EA plugins into NetBeans. We are working on fixing the issue, in the meantime please try the workaround posted in the Java ME SDK forum:

Also be sure to check the latest ME SDK 8 EA Release Notes for late-braking information:

Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best,
-- TerrenceHi,
For the Raspberry Pi, tooling over serial port is not supported. The simplest solution is to use standard IP networking over Ethernet. This can be a direct connection between the PC and the Raspberry Pi, as long as the cable is twisted and the IP addressing is correct (e.g. manual IP addressing or DHCP server on the PC).
Regarding "Connecting to a UART Device": This is meant for attaching and controlling serial devices from the Raspberry Pi, not for tooling connections between the Raspberry Pi and the PC.
Hope this helps,

IPhone SDK (Beta 5) - AudioQueue Problem playing MP3
Dear community,
i have a problem using the iPhone SDK (Beta 5). I want to playback a simple MP3-file. So i checked a lot of examples, read documentation and found a least the "AudioQueueTest" example. This is an simple example which is able to play MP3, WAV, ... from the command line. I ported the example to a simple application on the iPhone. Now the problem:
If i playback a WAV file in the iPhone simulator, everything works fine. If i want to playback an MP3 file, it doesn't work and i don't know why. I stepped through the debugger and found out that the application freezes at the command "AudioQueueNewOutput".
Do you have the same problem? What i am doing wrong? Is it no possible to create a background thread playing back a local MP3 file?
Thank you!Did you get PCM recording on actual iPhone hardware? With Beta5, my PCM recording works fine in the simulator, but on the hardware, all the buffers I receive contain only 4 bytes of audio data!
Here's my source code - if anyone can spot anything wrong, I'd be enormously grateful!

Problem in iPhone SDK Sample: [CrashLanding ]
iPhone SDK build : build 9M2199a
Sample: CrashLanding
Version: 1.7
OpenGL swap buffer method seems to fails sometimes resulting in a crappy blink display. The display seems split into two images. The screen goes messy, I can view the backbuffer blinking over frontbuffer with no drawing update on it.
Thanks,
Julien Meyer
Jadegame.comI developed my application based on the CrashLanding sample. I have inherited the same rendering failure. The swap occurs, but it's presenting stale data for one of the frames. The stale data appears to be the first frame rendered. The failure occurs either immediately, or not at all. Restarting the application usually makes the problem go away.
Has anyone determined a fix for this?
Thank you,
