IPhone unknown error (-39)
I've received the bellow error for a couple of weeks now. My iPhone will sync contacts, calendars, music and video. It always gets to the very end where it shows a progress bar attempting to delete photos and gives the following message:
+The iPhone "iPhoneName" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-39).+
Anyway have suggestions on how to correct this issue?
I tried searching for a couple of minutes and was unable to find any useful results. Obviously I wasn't looking hard enough =/
I'm trying your advice now, makes sense.
Thanks,
Jeremy

ITunes could not sync ^0 to the iPhone Unknown Error(-19) during 2.1 update
iTunes could not sync ^0 to the iPhone Unknown Error (-19) during 2.1 update
Anybody getting this? On a Win XP iTunes 8/ iPhone 3G
Thanks for any help!I got this message. After several hours of frustration...
I finally did a successful update by following various recommendations in this thread.
Maybe all or only a combination were necessary:
1) Deleted my backups. This DOES appear to be necessary, I noticed that the update was always failing when the update was going through the backup process. It was only after I deleted my backups that the update finally worked. To do this, in iTunes go to Edit > Preferences. Click on the Devices tab. Click on (select) the iPhone in the window. Click on the "Delete Backup" button.
2) Disable automatic syncing for the iPhone (don't know if this was necessary but it's one of the steps I took)
3) Make sure all your Apps are updated before trying the iPhone update. (Again I don't know if this was necessary but I did it). I updated my apps over wi-fi from the iPhone rather than via iTunes.
Important!!!!! After you run the update there will be no backup of your iPhone. You need to create a new one. To do this, right click (option-click) on your iPhone in the "Devices" list of iTunes. Select "Back Up" from the context menu.
Hope this helps!!!! -

Iphone Unknown Error 40 stuck in recovery mode
Hi,
My question is... if my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and I return it to the shop I bought it from and they give me my money back/replace it etc, if they then do get the phone to work will they be able to see all my data/photos/messages etc? Or will it only restore personal data if the phone is restored from my itunes?
I updated my Iphone 4 via Itunes yesterday and it's now stuck in recovery mode, every time I try to restore the phone it gets to "waiting for iphone" then Unknown error 40 appears.
I have tried the suggestions here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
I am going to take it to the apple store genius next week, but first am returning it to the shop I bought it from as they want to see if they can fix it (it was unlocked when I bought it, they claimed it was an apple unlocked phone but I am concerned it was in fact unlocked by them and this is why I am having problems). Hence my question being, will they be able to restore it to my data without access to my itunes to back it up from? Will it just be a factory setting reset if they fix it (which I'd prefer)?
Thanks in advance!
CHi Fkaram,
Sorry to say I haven't found a solution (after hours of searching!) and have bought an android moto g. The only difference from yours is that I replaced the dock connector as I kept getting error 4014, which turned it on after being off for three weeks, and then went to error 40.
If you haven't got a warranty, I can only suggest replacing the dock connector. Its cheap (£5) and pretty easy to fix. I only tried this because changing the leads didn't work, but I kept getting the faulty leads error (4014+40)
Good luck!
ps - check for any bent pins or if there is a red/coloured light in the connector itself. I didn't see any bent pins so was lucky the replacement actually did something

IPhone unknown error (-200)
Hello Apple.
When I try to open up iTunes in my MacBook Pro, it says that it cannot launch because of a unknown error called -200.
I don't know what this is, and I don't think that there are any solution articles for this error.
Here's a screenshot:
Any solutions to this error?
Thanks!I had the same error (-23) but i managed to update my iphone after a few days... I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes on my laptop and it's work... No more error msg popping out and the updating went smoothly .

Can't update iphone. unknown error (-23) help pls!
I cant seem to update my iphone 4. keep getting an error message "unknown error (-23)" anyone can help?
Hi, I've just manually updated mine SUCCESSFULLY! Make sure you SYNC ALL your data first
This was the method I used (courtesy of http://www.nickpan.com/2011/10/15/iphone-ios5-upgrade-unknown-error-23/):
Download the iOS5 manually. See http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/12/ios-5-download-available/
Copy the iOS5 file to (For Windows 7 users) “C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates”.
Go back to iTunes and hit “Update”. -
ITunes could not sync ^0 to the iPhone Unknown Error(-30) during 2.1 update
iTunes could not sync ^0 to the iPhone "iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (-30).
Restarting the installation did not help.
Rebooting my XP machine and then restarting the installation did not help.
I eventually had to go into DFU mode, restore (erasing all of my downloaded apps, movies, music, TV shows, ebooks, etc - almost 16 GB worth) and then let it try to restore. Then I got an error that my backup was corrupt, so I had to start over completely from scratch with a new profile.
All of this took... quite a while.
I have never had to do this for an update before, and am not especially happy about it.Also, FWIW, my phone is fully operational now - it was just quite a hassle to get there. My husband, who has pretty much the same setup as I do, but only uses his for web browsing and email, had zero problems installing 2.1 earlier today.
Considering my last iphone (2G) shattered (twice!), I may have to consider the fact that I'm just cursed.
(Also, this phone (3G) has never been dropped.) -
Since i just bought the apple iphone model MC133KH, i tried connecting it to iTunes. At first, it was connected and i backed it up . I was able to sync it and it was successfull. But when i connect it again the following day, the "restore your iPhone appeared so i clicked it but at the end, a message "unknown error" appeared so I tried applying the resolutions suggested but to no avail. O cannot use my iphone anymore because of this issue. The screen of my iphone only displays the picture of the USB with arrow pointing to the itune icon and nothing else. I admit that at my age which is 53 is not much adept to new technologies like this so may anybody help me to resolve this. thanks

Unable to reset IPHONE UNKNOWN ERROR HAPPENED 40
Unable to reset iphone .
UNKNOWN ERROR HAPPENED ( 40 )try this...
Thank you for your responses guys!
This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes. I can give more info if you need it. -
Programm not installed on the iPhone, unknown error Code 0xE8000001
i tried to synch my iphone after installing OS4 on my iPhone and get the above error code by some applications. Other applications are installed without any problems.
I have had the some problem with syncing the apps we the new iPad. Also there i get the above error code for some apps. But also there some are installed without any problems.
If i install the apps trough the App Store once again, it's working.
Has somebody any idea to solve the problem?
ThanksI experienced a similar problem as it occured to Edgar. After a painful update of my iPhone to OS 4.0 none of my apps was installed on my phone. I tried to sync my iPhone via iTunes and everythng seemed to by right.
But at the end of the sync I was told that some of my apps (to be honest: not one) could not be installed because of "an unknown error ocurred: (0xE8003FFE)"
Even after reboot of my iPhone, an update of iTunes and a second try could not avoid this error.
I think that this is a severe problem, because I'm using some apps for my buiness.
I'm also looking for a solution for this problem. Is there anybody who can help?
Regards and thanks in advance
