IPhone with iOS 7 is detected as workstation/laptop

Hello,
I just updated my iPhone to the newest operating system (iOS 7), which is completely revamped to be much more advanced than ever before.
Apparently, with the new operating system, my Network Magic application seems to identify it as a computer and doesn't allow me to use the "Cellphone" icon for the device type. No big deal... I can identify it by the custom name. But I just thought it was an interesting observation that could be addressed in future versions of Network Magic for new alternate device types, such as Smartphones, Tablets, Netbooks, etc.

I guess we can't expect for future versions for Network Magic anymore. I just verified this a week ago when I tried to call tech support and informed me that they will shutdown network magic servers effective 3PM 9/27/2013 PDT. Then, they gave me this link: http://store.linksys.com/Cisco-Software_stcVVcatId553232VVviewcat.htm (good thing it was saved on my bookmarks).
If everyone needs to believe in something, I believe I'll have another beer..

Assuming you're creating this event to place in your calendar, and assuming this calendar is shared with your iMac and iPad using iCloud, might the calendar be restricted on your iPhone?
Check Settings > General > Restrictions

Assuming you are using the current version of iTunes (11,2,2), open iTunes, click "Preferences" under the leftmost entry on iTunes' menu, then choose "Devices".
Find the iPhone's backup there, highlight it, and choose "Delete Backup".

Are you sure you have a 3GS and not a 3G? The 3G cannot be updated to iOS5. What version are you on now?... Settings > General > About > Version

I agree- I apologize if I sounded skeptical and attacking. In no way did I mean it to sound that way.
I completely agree on the software-hardware combo issue- this is why apple killed off 1G and 2G devices- because newer software revisions would never ever run well if at all on such ancient devices. can you imagine running iOS 6 on an iPhone/iPod touch 1G? That would be terrible. Let alone iOS 3 runs terrible on them and now are generally rendered useless due to newer App Store requirements (most require 4.3+ now to allow apple to kill off the older devices). forcing newer software on older hardware (apple, dell, HP,... Anything electronic this definitely applies to) will almost always yield less-than-par results. The other part is apple forcing you to upgrade by means of intentially making things obsolete. all companies do that.
All of this factual info aside, the issue at hand with the 5 is not a software-hardware combo problem- those are most widely seen with the major revisions. then again, this isn't the first time apple has gotten caught up in battery drain snafus (even iOS 5 was plagued with this as well- and now there are some people desperate to roll back but can't). it basically waters it down to the point where keeping the stock software will always yield the best results even though newer versions provide better features- it all depends on whether or not the person deems the added features are worth a performance hit.
PS. I'm still at 100%- and I've been using it periodically throughout the day. your combo worked for you, but didn't for me. And may or may not work for others- As the tech world would say, mileage may vary.
PSS. What model/carrier do you have? Just wondering.

Well, first off, you are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user PUBLIC forum. You should not post your personal information like that. Try closing iTunes, reboot the computer and connect again. Are you using the latest version of iTunes, v11.1?

After I updated my iPhone with IOS 6.1 my old Apple ID keeps popping up on my iPhone for me to type in the password that I no longer know. On the Apple site the Manage my Apple ID says my old Apple ID could not be found. How do I get this to stop?

I just updated my iPhone with the newest update IOS 6.1. My old Apple ID keeps popping up on my iPhone for me to type in the password that I no longer know. All the passwords I type in do not work. I no longer have access to this email which is my old Apple ID. After installing the newest software update my old Apple ID came up to finish configuring. Since I no longer have access to this Apple ID and email account and after trying some passwords I skipped the step. It then said FaceTime, iCloud (which I do not use), and more may not work. I clicked that it was OK since I could not remember the password to my old Apple ID. I then went to my settings to be sure my newer email was my Apple ID by typing in my current Apple ID and password. Also, I went to Manage my Apple ID online and my old Apple ID could not be found. Is it OK I skipped that step in the IOS 6.1 configuration? How do I get my old Apple ID to stop popping up?

It sounds like you restored from an old back-up. Did you back-up just before your software update? It will use your last one and if your last back-up was a ywear old then it will use that one.
In general, if you are getting these messages on your iPhones select logout (when you get that Apple Id request) and then log back in with your newer ID.

Computer not authorised for syncing with iPhone with IOS 7

Unable to sync iPhone 4S (with IOS 7) to my PC. Error message is that computer not authorised. Have tried all on-line steps to rectify. e.g. Control Panel User settings.
Anybody have any clues on this problem?

That definitely sounds frustrating! Let's give this a go to see if we can isolate the issue futher:
First, connect your device and choose the "Music" tab. Next, uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
