IPhoto '08 Events list

Question

What is the best way to obtain a list of names of all the iPhoto Events?
Is there an appropriate AppleScript dictionary reference or is the only approach to write a hack script to pass a list of directory names from within the photo library package structure?
Why do I want to do this? Simple with the iPod touch 1.1.3 update it no longer sync both iphoto albums and events together only either/or. So I need to script the events to create smart albums for each of the events.

So far, you are left with hacking the image paths of the photos. I have played around with this a bit, and here is what I came up with:
set Every_Event to {}
tell application "iPhoto"
set a to image path of every photo
end tell

if Every_Event does not contain (my GetEventName(aa)) then set end of Every_Event to (my GetEventName(aa))
end repeat
Every_Event
to GetEventName(b)
set astid to AppleScript's text item delimiters
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "/"
set event_string to b's text item -2
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to astid
return event_string
end GetEventName
-->{"NASA", "Hubble", "Nov 2, 2007", "Dec 13, 2003", "Dec 9, 2007"}
It was nearly instantaneous in my test library of 70 images (iBook G4, Leopard, iPhoto '08), but I would bet that there are a few ways to speed it up, most likely with a shell script.
