Iphoto 4 doesn't recognize my canon camera anymore on my iBook G4.

I am doing the same thing I've always done with my camera to download pics, but now it says 'No camera selected' or something like that. It just spins and spins. HELP....

Exactly where do you mean - Preference Pane that it
should say Iphoto? Could you please give me a step
by step?
Double click on the finder icon (the smiley face). In the window that opens, highlight the folder Users > you > Library > Preferences. Find the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Drag it to the trash. Open the folder Applications. Double click on Image Capture. Within that application, pull down the "Image Capture" menu and choose Preferences. The top choice is probably "When a camera is connected, open"... and iPhoto should be selected. If it isn't, select it.

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize iPhone and Camera anymore

Image Capture doesn't recognize my iPhone or my Fujifilm camera. I am pretty sure this happened after updating to Safari 4.0.2 and having to restart which I did today. Yesterday I was able to to browse through my devices.

I'm adding that iTunes has no problem reading the iPhone.

  • Iphoto 2 doesn't recognize my Digimax camera after upgrade

since upgrading from osx 10.3 to 10.3.9 my Samsung Digimax U-CA3 camera is no longer recognized by iPhoto 2.0.1. Is it possible to download a driver? No driver was needed before as the computer supported the camera-up to 10.3! Does this mean the camera is now obsolete?
    Thanks in advance.

Brie- 'USB' and 'Computer' are highlighted in camera Set-up- no other settings. A UK magazine, Macuser, advised me to buy a Card Reader which will have a universal storage format. Apparently camera manufacturers 'stray' from this universality and introduce 'quirks' which throw protocol and may be responsible for my Mac not recognizing the camera after the upgrade.
Meanwhile I'm still intrigued 1] by the Mac's System Profiler recognising the camera and 2] your insights into Permissions after Upgrade and Disc Utility! Also it seems likely that having 'related' to the camera previously the Mac would still have the capacity to do so.[?]
Still, the Card Reader is a cheaper solution [£9] than a new camera and I'm an artist and need to record my work. Any further thoughts welcome, and thanks so much for your help. This communication made the problem very interesting and enjoyable!

  • Autoselect doesn't recognize my canon i860 anymore?

I've been wirelessly sharing a Canon i860 using an Airport express, my ibook and a windows xp pc without problems. Now, the printer wasn't being found wirelessly. I deleted the printer cue and started over. It works fine when attached to the ibook by USB and also prints fine from the windows pc.
When I open the Printer Setup Utility and click Add, the printer shows up in the list and connection is listed as Bonjour. However, the driver is not found. Autoselect says "gathering printer information" for a second, then goes back to "please select a driver or printer model."
I've unplugged and reset the Airport express, with no help.
I reinstalled the Canon driver pkg from the canon website. When I restarted, I got a message saying the print head needed alignment. I connected by USB and completed that process, but I still cannot print wirelessly.

Solved my own problem - updated the firmware on the Airport Express, now the printer is properly recognized.

  • IPhoto '09 doesn't recognize my Lumix DMC-ZS3

iPhoto '09 doesn't recognize my new camera, a Lumix DMC-ZS3. It pops up on iPhoto as "NO NAME". I am able to import photos from it without a problem, although I have not done any videos yet, so I'm hoping this won't be an issue.
Anyone else having a similar experience with their Lumix?
Any way to get rid of "NO NAME" and get iPhoto to recognize the camera model?
Any advice/tips about using this camera with iPhoto?
    Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my new Panasonic ZS3. I am able to import pictures through iPhoto, but when I open iMovie ('09) and sync up the camera a dialogue box pops us saying "Looking for Cameras and Devices" and below it says Panasonic DMC-ZS3 (seemingly recognizing the camera). This runs for about 30 seconds and then it disappears (apparently never fully recognizing the camera). It never pulls up a screen with the videos on the camera available to be downloaded. After this dialogue box runs, I have tried clicking on the camera button on the toolbar and it says "No camera connected-to import video please select a camera". The Lumix has the option of shooting HD video in either AVCHD or Motion JPEG. I shot several videos in the AVCHD (which I thought iMovie would support) but they are not coming up! I am going crazy trying to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

iPhoto doesn't recognize my Canon any more after my update to Yosemite

Have you run Software Update since installing Snow Leopard?
If so and all available updates have been installed, try re-downloading the current iTunes version and re-install it over the existing. No need to delete iTunes first.

  • My computer using Windows 8 doesn't recognize my Canon Rebel. How do I fix this?

My computer using Windows 8 doesn't recognize my Canon Rebel. How do I fix this?

    Hi MWCRILLY,
To connect your camera to a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer or Windows 8 computer, you'll need to change your camera's "Communication" mode.
To set your camera up for this, please do the following:
With the camera disconnected from the computer, turn the camera on.  Press the "Menu" button.  Now select the [Wrench, Hammer, 2] tab.  Scroll down to "Communication" and press the "Set" button.
Select the [Print/PTP] and press "Set".  This process is more completely described (and illustrated too!) on page 121 of your Digital Rebel XT instruction manual.
Now connect your camera to your computer and turn the camera on.  Your computer should now recognize and have access to your Digital Rebel XT.
Unfortunately, Canon software cannot communicate with the Rebel XT when operating in this mode.
You may download your pictures using Windows Photo Gallery.  If you haven't already done so, you may retrieve and install this program from Microsoft's download.live.com.

  • IMovie 8.0.6 doesn't recognize my iSight camera.

    I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.5;
iMovie 8.0.6 doesn't recognize my iSight camera.  The iSight camera works on Skype, Photo Booth and FaceTime.  I hadn't used iMovie in almost a year, however, the last time it recognized the iSight camera without a problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    rudsmac4me,
The article linked below details a potential solution that may help get iMovie to recognize your iSight camera.
In iMovie 7.1.2 or later, you may not be able to use your built-in iSight camera to capture footage in iMovie. iMovie may not recognize the camera. This may occur even if you are able to activate the camera in other applications, such as iChat.

Unfortunately, that usually means the drive has died although it doesn't mean some other hardware failure or even software failure (in some cases.)
I think the wise thing to do is take it in for service.

  • My Mac doesn't recognize my Canon MVX330i

    Hi,
I have just joined the ranks of mac users, days rather than weeks, so my question may sound silly. I am trying to import video from my canon mvx330i(tape not card) but my mac doesn't recognize the camera, let alone import it. According to the tutorial, I should just connect to the usb port and away I go, but alas no joy. Am I missing something??

    Hi -
Tape based cameras such as yours require a firewire connection, not a USB connection. The USB out on the camera is used to transfer any digital stills you have taken on the storage card. The video, because of the way DV works, must be sent to the computer via firewire.
If you have a recent Mac, you will probably need to get a firewire cable that plugs from your firewire 800 port on your computer to your camera's firewire port (on Canon cameras I believe the port is labeled "DV").
These cables are available at camera/electronic/computer stores and on the internet.
    Hope this helps.

  • My new MAC 10.10.3 will not recognize my Canon cameras or my Kodak camera.  Help from the Geek Squad was useless.

My iMAC 10.10.3 Yosemite will not recognize any of my two Canon cameras or my Kodak camera.  What's the solution?

Can you temporarily connect some other USB device to verify that your PowerBook's USB ports are in working order? Do you have another computer to which your camera can be connected to verify that a working USB connection is being made from the camera?
If we can somehow eliminate a hardware issue, then you can focus on software. Have you tried creating a new admin user account? If the new account recognizes your camera, it would narrow the problem down to something within your regular user account.

  • Macbook pro doesn't recognize Nikon D80 camera..

I have my Nikon D80 connected to my mac (10.6.4) with a regular USB cable.. the mac doesn't recongize it.. I never had this problem w/my windows machine.. this is weird.. I found sthg in another thread and did apple men -> info and indeed it shows under USB that a Nikon D80 is connected to it.. so why won't the mac recognize it?
in camera manual it says: "if MASS STORAGE is selected for USB..." is this a USB setting? I've never had to set this.. don't even know if they mean it's a computer setting or camera setting...
    thank you..

actually USB setting is in camera.. set to MASS STORAGE.. but mac still won't recognize camera...
    thank you..
You do realize that even though you may have the camera settings as suggested in the manual, you may still have to do any/all of my suggestions above? It doesn't matter what your camera settings are - for instance, if you do NOT have the Mac configured to show externals, it will not - period. And, if you do not have that PTP software referenced in the manual, you either need to drag 'n drop them off onto your desktop (that is, once you get the icon on the desktop) or the apps mentioned previously.
Post back after you have tried any/all of the above suggestions.
