IPhoto doesn't recognise iPhone

This is contrary to what most are experiencing!
I have some photos on my 3G iPhone and cannot get them into iPhoto (08). I have tried turning off the auto-sync with iTunes. I've toggled the auto-import in iPhoto. It worked last week! All I can think of is that there was an iLife update and this has somehow done something to it
Any ideas?

same here for me.....last week it worked now with the update....it will not see any photos I have taken on my iphone...the iphone shows up in iphoto...but does not sync anymore....help!!!

When I first got an iPhone I could sync it to iPhoto and take all the photos off.  Now iPhoto doesn't recognise my iPad or iPhone.  I've deleted caches.  I have spent hours on this and its getting me no where.

Just to be clear, are you asking a question about iPhoto for the Mac or the iPhoto.app on your iPhone or iPad? This forum is specifically for the iPhoto.app for iOS that's running on your iPad or iPhone. You might want to post your question in the iLife/iPhoto fourm here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iphoto
Be sure and let everyone there know which version of iPhoto you're running.

  • How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • ITunes freezes and doesn't recognise iPhone

Hi, I've got an issue with my iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.0.1. Everytime I connect it to my PC (running on Windows 7 32-bit), iTunes freezes for a few minutes and doesn't recognise the device. I've been searching for the solution for a couple of days now and have found the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1141495&start=75&tstart=0
Fix provided by BeeBopp work for me but only until I reboot my PC. Then I have the same situation - having iPhone connected to PC, iTunes freezes and doesn't recognise the device - so I need to go to Device Manager and update the drivers manually even though they seem to have been installed correctly (I have Apple Mobile Device on my list before I update the drivers), but I need to point Windows to use the drivers from
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers\usbaapl.inf
    I have already tried:
-completely removing iTunes and its configuration files
-reinstalling iTunes (the newest available version)
-removing iPhone from the devices list and reinstalling Apple drivers
Nothing works - everytime I reboot PC, I need to update drivers manually.
Do you have any idea what's causing that? Thanks

  • Iphoto doesn't detect iphone

Hi guys, this is my problem.
I have snow leopard, Iphoto 8.1 and i just did the upgrade to 3.1 os on my iphone 3g.
Since yesterday i realize that when i plug my iphone iphoto is not opening as before and is not detecting the iphone either..
if i open itunes the iphone shows fine and i can sync.. i need iphoto to see my iphone.
I want to save my new family pictures on iphoto before i do anything... i can't loose this pics.
what could be the problem here.???? help.

    I have the fix.
I can report after much testing that the issue is absolutely related to photos that were saved from e-mail to the camera roll. Why, I have no idea, but that's it. Couldn't get my iPhone 3GS to launch iPhoto or be recognized in iPhoto or Image Capture until I deleted photos that I saved from email. Then it was fine. Strange bug that didn't start until 3.1, but that's clearly it.
    So, here's all you do.
    1. Go to the camera roll and delete any photo you didn't shoot with the camera. Anything you saved from e-mail, screenshots, etc. If you need them, email them to yourself or something.
    2. Unplug the iPhone from USB after those photos are erased.
    3. Replug in the iPhone. It should launch iPhoto normally and be seen in Image Capture.
Please let me know if that does the trick or if it doesn't, but I'm 99.9 percent sure it will.

  • ITunes 9.2 doesn't recognise iPhone 3G

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked/answered already, I couldn't find it if it has.
Since installing iTunes 9.2, my computer does not recognise my iPhone 3G. That is, when I plug the phone in, it doesn't start charging, and neither iTunes nor iPhoto think it's there.
However, when I go into System Profiler, it does show up as being connected to the USB port.
So far, I've tried restarted both iPhone and iBook multiple times, with no success. I've also reinstalled iTunes, which didn't help either.
Really grateful if anyone has any tips! I'd really like to resync and have a go with iOS4...
    Cheers.

I've tried a couple of different cables without success, having checked through here there seems to be a few people all asking the same question which made me think there must be a 'scientific' fix for it....!
Can't find anything on the support pages other than uninstall and reinstall iTunes, which I'm not convinced will fix the problem, I was hoping that was a patch somewhere.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize iPhone

    Hi everybody,
I have a really annoying problem with my iPhone here.
When it is connected to my Mac, and I open iPhoto, it doesn't show up in the list of devices and that means I cannot sync my photos taken with the iPhone anymore.
I tried rebooting (Mac and iPhone) and resetting the iPhone, but nothing seemed to work.
Is there anyone out there with the same problem or a good solution ?
    Thanks !
P.S.: I use 10.5.6 on my Mac and iPhoto 8.0.1

    Try this fix:

  • ITunes doesn't recognise iPhone after switching back from Windows 7

    Hi all,
I've searched Google and this message board for this issue, but haven't found any mention of it.
    Here's the problem:
I have Windows 7 installed on a boot camp partition. Any time I switch into Windows 7 and then back to Mac OS X (latest version of Snow Leopard) iTunes (both 9 and 10) refuses to recognise my iPhone, meaning I can't sync or transfer any files to my iPhone 4.
The only way I've found to solve the problem is to reinstall iTunes, which is really not a good solution. Rebooting into OS X from OS X doesn't work either.
Has anyone else come across this issue and/or found a fix for it?
I don't use iTunes on Windows 7, or even have it installed (although I did try installing it to fix this problem, and that didn't work either)
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hello again, GiannisFromAthens.
At this point, considering that the primary issue is with getting the Windows update resolved, we need to get that taken care of first. To do so you may need to consult Microsoft, or whoever supports the installation of Windows on your computer, for more troubleshooting to resolve it.
Once that is resolved, if you are still experiencing the issue, you may find better information by using another of Apple's Support resources at https://expresslane.apple.com/GetProductGroupList.action for a more hands on response.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • TS1591 Itunes doesn't recognise iphone 5s on iMac

All of a sudden my iTunes won't regognise my iPhone 5s.  It's a 64g & almost full, but there's almost a gig spare.  I backed it up this morning and it said it was all good in iTunes, but iPhoto froze mid way through the upload so I force quit it.  Not too keen on restoring to factory settings.  Anyone have any advice?  Could it be from downloading a dodgy app or visiting a dodgy site?

Try plugging in to a different USB port next.
After trying that try uninstalling your iTunes then reinstalling. There's like 6 components to iTunes and they have to be deleted in a specific order. Use this article to do so correctly http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
After deleting download only from apple.com/iTunes to ensure its the latest version.

  • IPhoto no longer recognises iPhone as a device to import photos from

    Hi there,
I connect my iPhone 3GS to my iMac but iPhoto '09 no longer picks up the phone and so I cannot import pictures. There is not a problem with the connection as iTunes syncs and up until my husband connected his iPhone to upload his photos it worked correctly. Any ideas?
    J

I had the same problem with my wife's original iPhone and my 3G after recently updating either iTunes or iPhoto. While checking my USB ports by plugging in an old iPod mini, I decided to plug the 3G into the other USB port. iTunes, which opened when I attached the mini, immediately recognized the 3G. iPhoto also recognized after I opened that application. I then unplugged both devices and closed both applications. After plugging back in the 3G, iPhoto opened up and recognized it right away. I still have more testing to do with the original iPhone but thought I'd throw this out to see if it helps anyone. The other suggestions on the forum (deleting plist files mainly) did not work for me. Good luck.

  • Iphoto  doesn't recognize iphone or Ipad won't sync how can I fixt it?

my iphone and ipad  stopped sync ing with iphoto

    What version of iPhoto?
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

You could try to follow iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X or reset the sync services OS X: Resetting Sync Services.
