IPhoto hangs while requesting local print
Hello,
I am using Yosemite 10.10.2, and iPhoto 9.6.
My printer is a SELPHY CP900.
It has always worked for me (using the Share Print or File->Print as well as ⌘ + P).
But lately I get stuck on the "Spinning Beach Ball of Death" when requesting to print a photo.
Tried all the possible rebuild of the iPhoto Library (177 Gb, 33.745 Photos) using the ALT key at startup, without success.
This is the message I get in the console.
iPhoto[696]: NSProButtonCell: attempt to decode an unrecognized element (0)
Hope someone can help.
(Also tested a new empty library, and this works ok)
Since the new library was able to print OK the problem lies with the old library. Also since you've tried all of the First Aid options give this a try:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download the demo version of iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 - select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

iphoto hangs when attempting to print photo even after rebuilding library
With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive? -
Iphoto hang while importing photos
Hi, my iphoto in macbook air hang while importing half way.
i cant quit the iphoto now.
pls advise hw can i shut down?I recovered the pictures in "Today" but they are damaged. You see the pictures in iPhoto but they are very small and there is no information about the picture availabe (shuttertime, diafragma etc).
Those are not your photos, only the thumbnails used for display.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Regards

I have 2700 photos on my iPhone 5S. i tried to import them all at once but iPhoto hang every time at different photo number,
for example photo number 1950 and next time at photo number 700.
when it hangs it seems that it's importing but stops at one photo and doesn't move to the next photo.
i tried to import small portion like 200 photos every time but maybe the fourth or the fifth time it hangs
i have to force quit and delete the library every time, because the portion of photos which causes the iPhoto to hang
can not be import it again!!
i restarted my mac, reset my iPhone (power off+home button), but still exists.
Do anyone knows the solution?thanks for reply,
i have iphoto 9.6. i use USB Sync,
i've been trying for 3 days and i just can't import all 2700 photos i have.
if i make small portion like 100 to 200 photo every import, the problem will appear before i finish all my photos,
there is no specific number for the problem to occur!
then i need to delete the library because the photos which stopped the iPhoto can not be imported to the library -

Iphoto hangs up on last print during order print upload
I am having trouble ordering prints through iPhoto v.7.1.1 Every time I choose order prints, the scroll bar hangs up at the very last MB or last image or upload and just sits. My only choice is to cancel and try again. I've cut down my order size considerably and the still the same thing happens. Any suggestions?
I think your problem is a damaged colour profile.
0x9194ac6c color_space_create_adobe_rgb_1998
I would launch ColorSync and see if you can repair the AdobeRGB 1998 profile.

IPhoto hangs while trying to quit
I just tried to clean up my iPhoto library by running duplicate annihilator and 2400 pictures out of 14,000 or 8 gigs were identified as duplicates. They have been moved to the trash but iPhoto will not quit.
I have had this issue before whenever I make many changes to iPhoto (merge events etc). It seems that if I am doing a lot of changes it is wise to quit iPhoto every 5 minutes or so so it doesn't hang during the quit.
At this point, iPhoto has been trying to quit for about 15 minutes, but if I try to force quit it tells me that doing so will not save any changes. This would undo all the work of finding all the duplicates.
This is getting ridiculous. I have seen countless threads on the slowness of iPhoto but not many work arounds other than a rebuild etc.
Under my activity monitor iPhoto shows to be using 0.01% of my processor.
What is the deal!?

Iphoto hangs while starting up...
leopard
iphoto 7.1.5
macbook pro late 2008
2 gigs of ram
345 photo's
iphoto is really slow starting up, this is not a new problem but i really would like to use iphoto more...
i start up... it seems ok for about 3 seconds as it starts... then rainbow gear spins for 30-45 seconds before it begins working properly... sometimes longer
any idea's?
thanksWell the usual answer to this one is that iPhoto is checking for Shared Libraries or MobileMe galleries. So: iPhoto preferences and make sure the Sharing Preferences (look for Shared Libraries) is disabled and Mobile Me (Check for New Photos) is set to Manually

IPhoto hangs/freezes/beach balls when printing TIFF: solved
I was having a problem today with iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17) on Mac OS X 10.9.3: iPhoto is freezing/hanging/beach balling when printing TIFF images. I can effortlessly re-create the problem by selecting a specific TIFF image (from a Nikon D700) and attempting to print to my HP LaserJet m451dw (over the network).
The problem occured on the iPhoto print screen. I was able to select 1 or more images to print and then select the print size (e.g. full, contact sheet, etc...) however when I click the Print button at the bottom of the screen iPhoto would hang. Normally the printer dialog would appear.
I am using the latest Mac OS X 10.9 drivers from HP (Jan 2014) and printing from other apps such as Word worked.
I had tried the following with no luck: completely rebuilding the iPhoto DB; removing and reinstalling the printer; removing the iPhoto preferences.
The solution in the end was to rotate the TIFF image. The wife had rotated a number of images to portrait mode for a contact sheet but could not print. After mucking about with the problem TIFF image I rotated it around back to landscape and it is now working.
I hope this helps someone else experiencing the same problem.Terence Devlin wrote:
The reason I asked about the format of the disk is that folks report issues with Libraries stored on disks that are not formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Terence could you tell me more? I have not found the corresponding post.
I have a huge (10K photos, 50GB) library on a RAID server under linux formatted as ext 2.
I am not a designer playing with fonts.
After I upgraded to iPhoto '09 from the DVD, it converted my library and I started to look at the animation which crashed in the middle (face recognition was running in the background).
Any attempt to restart iPhoto failed (empty window with spinning wheel).
Then I downloaded the last version of iPhoto.
I restarted from a clean copy of the iPhoto library.=>Same failure.
I try to rebuild everything (except the database which was not an option).=> same failre
I copied a smaller iphoto library on the local hard disc => it works. -
Exporting iphoto books for printing at local printing services
Does anybody know how to export an iphoto book for printing at local printing services, other than Apple printing services?
I tried to export, but the only option available was to "export to iDVD", which is not very helpful (does not generate a printable file).
I'd appreciate any hints...Yanomami:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What you want to
do is do a print to pdf. Then take the pdf file to
the printing service to be printed.
Thank you for the tip. One follow up question: does PDF file have the right photo quality/definition to print a book, or would it be better to export to a TIFF file or some other type? If so, how to export to TIFF then?
Thanks again for any help you can offer. -

Very Urgent! Print Report output to local printer on button click in form
In Sales Order Form there is a print receipt button. In current situation On Clicking the 'Print Receipt Button' it submits a XML Publisher report(PDF output) to the concurrent manager. Currently to print that report i need to go view--> requests--> view output and then print. According to my new Requirement i need to print that report directly to local printer on one simple Print receipt button click in form.
I am trying to call the printers on server using custom.pll. The report is running successfully but it is not printing output to the local printer. I need to print the report to the local printers based on responsibility. Local printers are available on apps server. Can anyone help me on this issue ASAP.
Is it possible to print the document using custom.pll? Is there any other alternative to print the report on simple button click in form.
Environment: Apps 11.5.10.2, Forms 6i
Here is the code that i am using in my custom.pll.
if (v_form_name = 'OEXOETEL' --and v_block_name = 'LINES_SUMMARY'
and name_in('parameter.ACTIONS') = 'PAYMENT_RECEIPT' )THEN
l_organization_id := Name_In('PARAMETER.OE_ORGANIZATION_ID');
l_order_header_id := Name_In('ORDER.header_id');
select to_number(oe_sys_parameters.value ('SET_OF_BOOKS_ID')) into l_sob_id from dual;
xml_layout := FND_REQUEST.ADD_LAYOUT('XXAFP','XXAFPOEXPMTRCRTF','en','US','PDF');
select a.profile_option_value
into v_printer_name
from fnd_profile_option_values a
, fnd_profile_options b
, fnd_profile_options_tl c
, fnd_user fu
where a.profile_option_id = b.profile_option_id
and c.profile_option_name = b.profile_option_name
and fu.user_id (+) = a.level_value
and c.language = 'US'
and c.user_profile_option_name='Printer'
and a.level_id = 10003 ;
if (FND_SUBMIT.SET_PRINT_OPTIONS(v_printer_name, 'Portrait', 2, TRUE, 'N'))
then
l_new_request_id := FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST('XXAFP','XXAFPOEXPMTRC',
null,null,FALSE,l_sob_id,l_organization_id,NULL,NULL,l_order_header_id,
chr(0), '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '',
end if;
fnd_message.set_string('Request Submitted for Custom Payment Receipt. Request ID is '||l_new_request_id);
fnd_message.show;
copy('NULL','parameter.ACTIONS');
IF (l_new_request_id = 0) THEN
FND_MESSAGE.RETRIEVE;
FND_MESSAGE.ERROR;
else
l_commit_result := APP_FORM.QuietCommit;
END IF;
I need to complete this requirement immediately. Can anyone suggest me better ways in doing this.
Thanks,
SrinivasI solved this problem myself using shell script through custom.pll. I wrote shellscript and called that shellscript through FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST.It printed 2 copies to local printer.

Printing Problem at LOCAL Printer
Hello guru's,
Through workflow after approval and release of Purchase order, it should print at a LOCAL printer. but it is not happening. Will anyone suggest me the reasons behind that.
Full points for useful solutionHi,
There're quite a number of steps between release of PO and the piece of paper appearing on the printer.
Has a spool request been created? What status does the spool request have? Is there an error log for the spool request?
Is the release happening in a background task or dialog? If LOCAL is using SAPlpd on the user's PC it won't work in the background.

Local Printer not working via Remote Link
I have a problem with my remote desktop printing to my local printer. I connect via RD on Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Pro. I have installed an HP Laserjet Pro CM1415fn printer. All prints fine locally. Also everything printed fine
but have had to have a recent update to my Remote PC that I log into. So the printer had to be reinstalled.
All worked ok for about 6 print jobs then stopped working. Nothing has changed. I have changed the settings on the printer as it seemed to be when the printer went into 'Sleep' mode. I have tried restarting the Printer Spooler in Services
and rebooting the remote PC but no joy.
Any ideas please.Hi,
You mean after the reinstallation, the local printer worked for a while and then stopped working with nothing changed?
Take a try with the printer troubleshooter:
Open the Printer troubleshooter
Also see if the below thread could help:

Cannot print on LOCAL printer, but only from one application server
Hello guys,
we have a case of user being unable to print directly on their own LOCAL printer from a certain application server. The status of their spool requests is stuck on "Waiting"/"Waiting for output formatter."
If the print request is started either from the central instance or another application server, then everything works fine and a special window where you can choose your real local printer appears at the end and the request is printed. In the case of that "strange" application server this window doesn't appear at all. It seems that the printer daemon (SAPLPD) won't even execute in the background.
The question is what can disturb SAPLPD of being properly triggered when the user fires a print out.. May be a certain port is blocked on our linux machine, where this application server (dialog instance) is running?
Any other ideas?
Many thanks,
Polinahello Polina
As you said its LOC print ,you need to install SAPSprint service on printer host ,this will try establish communication wit
app server .
