Local Printer not working via Remote Link

I have a problem with my remote desktop printing to my local printer.  I connect via RD on Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Pro.  I have installed an HP Laserjet Pro CM1415fn printer.  All prints fine locally.  Also everything printed fine
but have had to have a recent update to my Remote PC that I log into.  So the printer had to be reinstalled.
All worked ok for about 6 print jobs then stopped working.  Nothing has changed.  I have changed the settings on the printer as it seemed to be when the printer went into 'Sleep' mode.  I have tried restarting the Printer Spooler in Services
and rebooting the remote PC but no joy.
Any ideas please.

Hi,
You mean after the reinstallation, the local printer worked for a while and then stopped working with nothing changed?
Take a try with the printer troubleshooter:

  • Multi-Row insert/update/delete not working via db-link

    App. Version: 2.0.0.00.49
DB: Oracle 9i, not sure about the build
    Problem: Multirow Update/Insert/Delete doesn't work via db-link.
Error received: ....ORA-1460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested....
Where: Tabular Form generated via Wizard
Side note: It's working properly when local table(s) is/are used, it's not working via db-link or view.
I've encountered this error with single update/insert/delete operations before, but was able to fix it via using temp-variables (v_xyz := :Px_xyz; as the proposed v('Px_xyz') was really slow with my scripts)...but with the automated DML-action I don't see a way to edit it accordingly.
    Workaround found:
1a) Use local* collection on HTML-DB-Server, then write single row updates/deletes/inserts to the remote DB via DB-Link
1b) Use local* table on HTML-DB-Server, then write single row updates/deletes/inserts to the remote DB via DB-Link
    * Local = on the same server that HTML-DB is running on...
    So,...to my questions:
    1. Can someone confirm that this is a "known feature" (aka bug)?
    2. Can someone tell me if this "known feature" has been eliminated in the newer version of HTML-DB/APEX (> 2.0.0.00.49)?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Do you have a small test case program that demonstrates this? A JDeveloper project showing what exactly is the problem when trying to use the BDB SQL JDBC driver to insert data into the BDB SQL database? What do you mean by "not working", do you get any errors, you do not get errors but you do not see the data in the database etc?
What are the versions of Java, JDeveloper, ADF and BDB SQL you are using, and on what OS?

Sometimes, few users using RAS (Remote Access Server) / VPN are not able to share desktop.
It is irrespective of other user (from other end) is using VPN or Office wired network.
Note - we have enabled VPN split tunnelling for our environment and the issue is happening after that only.
Also, it is happening with few users not all.

    any resolution ?

    Hi,
Did these issued users also meet the issue internal the corporation?
    1.  Please double check if the split tunnel VPN setting configure correctly with the help of the link below:

    2.  As the issue only happen for a few users who using VPN, please try to delete Lync user profile and then test again.
    3. Please also try to change another computer with the issued Lync account using VPN to test the issue.
    4. Please also try to test the issue with Internet network instead of VPN to test the issue again.

  • IPP printing not working on Mavericks, but got it to work with LPD...

    Hi,
Although I've already solved this problem, maybe someone else can use this fix...
I got a new MacBook with OSX Mavericks installed, but I was unable to get my printer to work. It's a Lexmark x203n, available as a network printer. It installed correctly, but printing didn't work. I saw the print job appearing in the print queue, however, the printer didn't respond to it.
On an older system, an iMac, it always worked, and on a Windows laptop I was still able to print, so the printer was not dead. I had already reinstalled my iMac with Mavericks, and the printer was not functioning there as well, so I expected that it was the OS.
When I wiped my iMac, and reinstalled a very old version of OSX (10.6, let it update to 10.6.6.*), I was able to print with it. Investigating the network traffic using Wireshark, I noticed that the older version used LPD, where Mavericks is using IPP.
In the printer settings page you don't see any details, so I couldn't compare them. However, I enabled the CUPS webinterface (on the terminal: $ cupsctl WebInterface=yes), and so the different connection ports. I changed the connection to what it is on the older version of OSX, and got it to work.
    Working: dnssd://Lexmark%20X203n._printer._tcp.local.
    Not working: dnssd://Lexmark%20X203n._ipp._tcp.local.
Maybe Apple Support can pick this up...
    Cheers,
    Ties

Please post it on apple.com/feedback to be sure someone from Apple reads it.
The two forms starting with " dnssd:// " mean that you just entered (or found) a different form of the URI to print via Bonjour. Not LPD vs IPP. Apple does need to see this and hear that one worked while the other didn't.

  • File- Print not working from SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build MAIN-32.13

File->Print not working from SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build MAIN-32.13.
I downloaded sqldeveloper-1.2.1.3213.ZIP and extract to a local directory. From the extracted directory I ran ..\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper.exe from Windows XP sp2. The program itself seems to run just fine but File-Print doesn't do anything. In Help-About, Java Platform is reported as 1.5.0_06 and Oracle IDE is 1.2.1.3213. I'm not sure where to look for what is causing the problem.
    Thanks

I hadn't tried CTRL-P before but I did today. On the first attempt, I saw a small jump in the memory usage for sqldeveloper.exe as reported in Windows Task Manager. Otherwise, there was no change. A second CTRL-P in the same session produced a further bump but subsequent attempts in the same session produced no further change in CPU or Memory Usage.
Using Task Manager to monitor this further, I tried File->Print again and saw that sqldeveloper would periodically climb to 1 or 2 percent CPU and consume a little more memory. After a minute or so, though, all activity stops again.
I do not get a print dialog box from SQLDeveloper using either CTRL-P or File->Print

  • Printer not working following iPad uodate

Printer not working following iPad upgrade

    Hi,
Is the printer not mechanically working or are you having a problem with printing wirelessly from your device? Was the upgrade to the ipad software or did you get a new ipad?
Try restarting your apple device - It's a simple fix that sometimes helps re-establish the connection to the printer.
Other things to check would be that there have been no recent changes to the wifi password.

  • Oracle 10gr2 locally is not working after  installing Oracle 11g

    hi ,
Does anyone has any idea after installing oracle 11g in system, Oracle 10g locally is not working. I am getting below error.
Forms session <2> failed during startup: no response from runtime process

Generally this is because the software you install last updates the system environment variables with its information, thereby break products that use files with similar names. Specifically, look at PATH and ORACLE_HOME. Likely you will see that entries for your 11g installation will be displayed first. In order to use v10, you would need to change this or use script files to start executibles. For Forms runtime, be sure to properly set default.env to point to the desired PATH

I cant access any printers, not even the virtual printers.
What I would do is use ProcMon to find out why that Event entry was written.  Then I imagine I would get a clue about a .dll which might be involved, which hopefully might be registerable.  Since IE9 there have been new .dll  involving printing
which have not been reflected in any of our repair tools.  However, instead of modifying our old scripts to reflect this fact, I have been advocating, so far unsuccessfully, that Microsoft create a proper IE Repair tool, one which does not rely on such
unreliable techniques.   E.g. a better method of repairing would be to have it done by a proper troubleshooter (an .msdt file) but so far it seems nothing has been done in that way for these symptoms (again, assuming the cause is registry corruption
and not simple interference from now incompatible third-party programming--the fix for that would be to identify and remove the incompatibilities.)   For example.

  • Easy print not working on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 client with Remote Desktop connection version 8.1

Easy print is not working on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 client with Remote Desktop connection version 8.1 . Printers dont get redirected when you connect to the terminal server. The server we are connecting to has Windows 2008 server.  On 32 bit Windows
7 and windows XP clients Easy print is working fine and printers get redirected in terminal server.

I am having the exact same problem. Windows 7 works fine, but 8.1 will not redirect printers. Others said to check local policy terminal services settings and my setting are all set as they should.
I think Windows 8.1 is not telling the terminal server what printers it has.

  • Absolute links on hml page in local directory not working

All the absolute links on my html pages (which are on my hardrive) are being treated as local links and are therefore not working - i.e. Firefox is adding the local file path before the url. For example, the original link is: http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/legal/criminal-conviction-for-illegally-subletting-tenant/6518844.article
But Firefox is adding the directory path so the url string becomes: /www.insidehousing.co.uk/legal/criminal-conviction-for-illegally-subletting-tenant/6518844.article%E2%80%9D
It is also being appended with: %E2%80%9D (which, when tested from a Word page, leads to site but generates page not found error).
For testing purposes, is there any way I can reconfigure Firefox to parse my links as absolute?
    Many thanks

Thanks, both. I have carried out cor-el's suggestion of replacing the smart quotes with dumb quotes, then tried viewing link on file again using different encoading, including UTF-16 - same result as before.
Below I've set the HTML of the whole page, as per yalam96's request (it includes cor-el's suggested fix to the "prosecute" link):
<pre><nowiki><h3>Who do you need to inform (in the UK)?</h3>
<p>If you have a mortgage, you will need to inform your provider (with most lenders this shouldn't be an issue – you do not need “consent to let” as you would if you were letting out the whole property) but you do still need to inform them; why? This is partly for the protection of your lodger, if you should default on the mortgage or die, but mostly for your own protection – if the property was destroyed or badly damaged because of the negligence of your lodger.</p>
<p>If own your property and it's leasehold, check the lease – you may need permission from the freeholder.</p>
<p>If you rent your property, you will need to firstly check with your landlord (this applies whether you rent privately or from a public landlord – Local Authority or Housing Association), and get their permission in writing, just as you would with a mortgage provider. Incidently, in the UK, a public landlord is only likely to object to the let if moving a lodger in would mean your home becomes over crowded (e.g. you have a two bed flat and your children would have to share your bedroom). They will also object – they might even <a href=&#x201d;http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/legal/criminal-conviction-for-illegally-subletting-tenant/6518844.article&#x22;>prosecute</a> - if you move out and let the whole property to the “lodger” (who wouldn't be a lodger in that case, but a full tenant, with full tenant's rights).</p>
<p>You may also need to cancel any existing residential home insurance and take out <a href=”http://www.landlordinsurance.biz/landlord-insurance-guides/landlord-insurance-faq/”>landlord insurance</a>. A few residential policies will, however, allow lodgers. Landlord insurance will not cover the lodger's possessions, they will need to get their own insurance, known as Tenant Insurance – policies can be compared on sites such as <a href=”http://www.confused.com/campaign/home-insurance/tenants-content-insurance?MediaCode=1054&kw=lodger+contents+insurance+broad&gclid=CPbbn9-Nj7MCFanItAod3GAAog”>confused.com</a></p>
<p>If you get a single occupier's discount on your council tax, you will need to inform your local authority, unless your lodger is <a href=”https://www.gov.uk/council-tax/council-tax-exemptions”>exempt</a> from paying council tax (e.g. they're a university student).</p>
<p>NB People claiming Jobseeker's Allowance and most other benefit claimants are <b>not</b> exempt – they are, however, usually entitled to Council Tax Benefit to help with some or all the cost of their council tax.</p>
<p>If you're letting on a Monday – Friday basis (to someone who only needs a week night let), this person would not normally pay council tax at your property, as they already pay against their main (family) home. However, if for whatever reason you and your Monday – Friday lodger decided that they would use your address as their main home, they would then become liable to pay council tax at your address and you would lose any single occupier's discount.</p>
<p>If you claim any kind of means tested benefit (such as job seeker's allowance, housing benefit or council tax benefit) as benefit rules currently stand (January 2013) your rental income will affect this. <b>Contribution</b> based Job Seeker's allowance (JSA(C)) will be affected if your weekly rental income exceeds £50. If you're on income based jobseeker's allowance (JSA(I)), it's very likely to be affected; however, to what extent will depend on your rental earnings and circumstances and a DWP adjudicator will decide this.</p>
<p>However, from October 2013, when Universal Credit takes effect in the UK, <a href=”http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/tenancies/lodger-rules-to-ease-impact-of-bedroom-tax/6522846.article?MsgId=57059”>a <b>public housing</b> tenant's income from renting a room will no longer affect their benefit entitlement.</a></p></nowiki></pre>

  • HP Laserjet 1020 not working through remote desktop

I have a hp laserjet 1020 that I am vpn and remote desktop to a computer at work. I am suupose to be able to print from remote desktop to my local printer (the hp laserjet 1020) using the microsoft terminal Easy Print. The printer is showing up in the printer list, but when I try to print I get an error of Printer not ready.  The printer is working fine on the local machine, just not through the remote desktop. I have install the printer drivers on the machine that I am remoting into , just to make sure. Is there anything else I can try. I am not finding any firewalls on either end blocking it?

After many months of frustration and 7 1/2 hours with Microsoft advanced prof support I've finally pinned down this printer and a slew of others.  This problem as far as I have come across deals exclusively with HP printers.  In simple terms:  the drivers are flawed.  This 1022 is a prime example.  It prints locally and via TCP/IP just fine. I have about 7 other printers and dummy printers in my printer folder.  Enter a remote desktop session and ALL of them populate except the 1022.  This shows that the hooks and RDT finders are locating your printers and installing them properly as remote printers.  All except the 1022.
Log out of your RDT session: goto the local 1022 setup and change the printer driver to a PCL driver.  I used a 1200 PCL driver.  Now log back into your RDT server and hockus pocus! there is your printer.  Totally un-usable because the driver will not run this printer.  Caveat:  each time I did this XP crashed (I couldn't get to the properties TAB anymore -- I had to un-install the 1022 and then re-install it with at least 1 reboot in the process)
Moving on we go to the HP OfficeJet/LajerJet2840.  Same thing.  It won't pass through as remote printer in RDT.  Go local.  Set the printer driver to AppleLaserWriter8500 and boom. (same logout, change, back in steps) and your LJ2840 shows up and works.
While I will have to wait until tomorrow I am betting that this will fix the exact same problem with the HP Officejet 8500A all in one with the exact same problem.
Hey HP?  Whats with the drivers??
Another work around if you have a static enough environment is to install your local printer that will not show up under RDT on the server, and then point the port to your fixed IP on your router, and passthru port 9100 to your locally installed printer that is failing.  You can now be on RDT and chooses the network printer that is printing to the TCP address of your home (or office) router.
