IPhoto issue when making albums

While trying to make an album with blurb I encountered an issue with iPhoto. While tusing the share function to create an album (Full of the pictures I want to use in the blurb album) it 'quit unexpectedly due to core media plug in'. Do I have to reinstall? I seem to remeber seeing a pop up that told me to do this but it seems very radical. I did export all my pictures to my documents file in finder (I have not yet managed to buy an external hard drive and the one I have for my PC is blocked through bit-locker). Help please (very new mac user still struggling with iphoto!)

I'm not clear on your problem
How does the "share" button enter into this?
Read the user tip on how to access your files in iPhoto for details on the supported way to acdess the photos
If you ae having a crash post the first 100 or so lines of the cash repport here
And when you have the same problem in two or more different applications it is likely that you have a system evel problem

  • IPhoto crashing when making new album or almost anything!

Hi - I've been having this issue for months and am trying again now to resolve it as I'm tired of having it. Here's what I've tried:
    1) Holding down Option when launching to create a new library to see if it replicates (still crashes)
    2) Rebuilding the library
    3) Using the program often reccommended on this forum that rebuilds libraries or creates new ones (can't remember the name now - tried that in May)
    4) Deleting the program and the files associated with it, reinstalling it from the App Store - no effect
I'll post the source code below - let me know if more code would be helpful. My iPhoto worked fine on my old mac laptop but when I purchased my new macbook pro in March (with Lion) and transferred all my information over with migration assistant all the problems started - it has never worked once. Some instructions on here seem to point to re-installing the OS (Lion) but I don't see why I need to do that given the computer came with it?! If that's truly the only option can someone point me to a threw that outlines in detail how to reinstall it from the beginning (and with Lion I don't have a disc, which makes me nervous).

I've since re-installed OS X Lion and tried verifying/repairing disk permissions to follow the first suggestion. My iPhoto is up to date (actually on 9.4.2 now), and I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5. I just tried iPhoto again and here is what I am now reading (see below). In re: to Quicktime, I've read on a few forums that it's an integral part of OSX and I can't delete it. I'm not sure how true that is, but I would have thought re-installing Lion would make an impact. Is there any point/help in upgrading to Mountain Lion?

  • Autoplay iPhoto movies when playing album as slideshow

I have one album in iPhoto that I share with my Apple TV. It contains photos and videos.
As it is now, when the movies show up in the slideshow it appears as a black screen with a question mark in the middle and I have to press the select button for it to play.
Is there any way for movies to automatically play when they show up?
    Thanks

Still looking for clarification if an ATV3 will play movies in Slideshow.
Has anyone been able to get this to work, or someone in Apple Support I could ask?

  • Spacing Issues when making PDF of HTML file

I am making changes to a website and need to convert an html file into a pdf file (for easy printability on the website). When I try to create the PDF file (in Acrobat) by opening the HTML file, it does not keep the same formating. Anyplace there is a picture on right hand side of the page, the wording to the left of the picture drops to below the picture and I need it to stay next to the picture.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

You might also have to change the paper size before you print. Keep in mind that HTML has a floating format and typically looks different on different machines.

  • Excel 2007 Formatting Issues When Making PDF

Running Excel 2007 on XP Pro. When I make a pdf file from an existing Excel file in Excel 2007 (originally created in Excel 2000), a lot of the formatting changes. Cells that were aligned to the center are now aligned to the top or bottom with no rhyme or reason.
I would hate to have to go through and fix all the alignment problems in Excel 2007.
Any suggestions or has anybody else had this problem?

Not so much Excel (or, at least not so much that I remember) but I've read a

  • Strange alignment issue when making composition...

I have altered the blank composition and have placed the target below the trigger, but no matter what I do, they won't align on their left/right sides. It snaps to what I am guessing it considers the edge, but as shown in the image below, they aren't aligned. I also check the X coordinates of each piece and it says they are the same. Both objects have a fill but no stroke. I don't have this problem with regular shapes, so I have no idea whats going on. Any ideas? Is this just a bug? The x and y valuse in the image are as Muse reports them.

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • Iphoto.  When I play an album "slideshow" some photos show up as a blank/black screen.  Please help if you know what I am doing wrong.

    Iphoto Question
When I playing a "slideshow" album, a few photos show up as a blank screen.  Also, when I select a photo in an album to make it full screen - some photos won't "hold" - they go full screen for about a second, then the screen goes blank.  Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?  Thank you.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • I deleted the photos via Finder and empty trash long time ago. The thing is, that I want to recover one event or album.  The event appears in the iphoto but when open, it shows "!". Is it possible to recover the photos?

I deleted the photos via Finder and empty trash long time ago. The thing is, that I want to recover one event or album.  The event appears in the iphoto but when open, it shows "!". Is it possible to recover the photos?

No.  When you removed the photos via the finder you damage the library.  Photos should always be removed from the library using iPhoto, never with the Finder.
If you have a Time Machine backup of the library from before you deleted the photos you can restore the library to the Desktop and export that album from it to import into your current library.
It's been too long to be able to try one of the file recovery applications.  You sure to have overwritten those files with new files since them.

  • I made an album in iPhoto and when it plays through the "slideshow", heads are cut off in some of the pictures.  How do I fix this?

I made an album in iPhoto and when it plays through the "slideshow", heads are cut off in some of the pictures.  How do I fix this?

When running a slideshow from an album it will not run properly if the photos are sorted manually.  Sort them by any of the other options, title, date, rating, etc. and it will play correctly.
Send a report of the problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
If you must sort them manually create the slideshow in the slideshow mode in iPhoto, not from an album.

  • Please help needed os x lion I wish to transfer photos from the iPhoto library to a album or folder then delete them from the Library but when I do this it also deletes them from the album ? how do I do this please.

Please help needed os x lion I wish to transfer photos from the iPhoto library to a album or folder then delete them from the Library but when I do this it also deletes them from the album ? how do I do this please.

Albums are not places to store photos, they're more like "labels" you can apply to photos to better organize them. A single image file can be in multiple albums... they are not copies, it's simply been labelled as being in all those albums. So what you're trying to do doesn't make sense, because it's based on incorrect assumptions.
The iPhoto library will always show all photos that you have added to iPhoto.

Fixed problem by holding down option and command key when starting Aperture. Rebuilt data base of photos.
