Iphoto launch question

Everytime I launch iPhoto I receive a message with two of the same images asking if I would like to import the following duplicate photo? How do I prevent this from happening over and over and over again?

It is incredible that your iPhoto application should have vanished completely. Try one more search with the Finder and ensore that it really searches everywhere:
Select "Computer" in the Finder's sidebar, or the system drive, if you only have one drive.
Enter iPhoto in the search field and press "+" to add a rule "kind is Application",
Can you post a screenshot please, of what you see in yur "Pictures" folder? Also select one of the thumbnails of your photos and use the command "File > Get info". What information can you see about your files?

  • IPhoto launching upon flash drive insert

A flash drive containing jpgs and pdfs makes iPhoto launch as it does when a camera is connected, ready to import. This is a new development, and I can't find a way to uncheck that feature in iPhoto prefs or CDs & DVDs system prefs.

I just did some experimentation with this because I wanted to make archives of my SD cards. I made a disk image and put some images in a folder called DCIM and it didn't appear in iPhoto immediatley. The proof of how this works is make a DOS disk image through disk utility with a Master Boot Record format, create a folder called DCIM and place an image inside that folder. If the disk is already mounted, unmount it by ejecting it. Next time you open the disk image, its like you plugged a camera in. If you need more details about how this works, your welcome to ask more questions.

  • IPhoto launches on startup after upgrade to Snow Leopard

I am using an Intel Mini and upgraded to Snow Leopard. Now, on startup Iphoto launches and is apparently seeing my Kodak ESP 5 printer as a camera. If I turn off the printer before starting the Mac, iPhoto does not auto-launch. There are no SD Ram cards in the printer that would be confused for a camera connected by USB. Is there any way to fix this?

Stil_III, this is the reponse I reached from Kodak
Andrew Healey (13:22:24): I have a 5300 Kodak all in one printer. I have a Mac. I have just installed Mac OS 10.6 and everytime I strat up my machine iPhoto opens and thinks the Kodak printer is a camera and sets it up as a "EasyShare Ai" device. I have checked the Apple support site and a number of other Mac users are experiencing the same issue. I updated the Easy Share software and firmware.
(13:22:24)[An agent will be with you shortly.]
    (13:22:41 PM)[You are now chatting with Vishal J .]
Vishal J (13:22:47 PM): Welcome to Kodak, my name is Vishal. Please wait while I review your question.
Vishal J (13:24:30 PM): As I understand, whenever you turn on your printer, you get popup of camera detected?
Andrew Healey (13:25:55 PM): No everytime start up my computer iPhoto launches as it thinks I have a camera called EasyShare Ai attached
Vishal J (13:29:37 PM): I will take care of the issue.
Vishal J (13:29:57 PM): May I have the Kodak Service Number of the printer? It is located under the Access panel towards the left side on a white bar-coded sticker on the printer.
Andrew Healey (13:30:41 PM): Sorry but I am at work and do not have access to the printer
    Vishal J (13:30:54 PM): Not a problem.
Vishal J (13:32:16 PM): Andrew, I would like to inform you that as your Kodak printer has scanner in it. Scanner use the same drivers as the camera. Therefore whenever you turn on the printer, it detects the camera. I would like to inform you that it is normal.
Andrew Healey (13:33:04 PM): Vishal J but this did not happen with Mac OS 10.5. Is it a new issue?
Vishal J (13:34:56 PM): Andrew, probably in your Mac OS 10.5 autoplay options would be disabled, as in normal scenarios, autoplay options are enabled so that it can automatically detect the other devices, like your printer, cameras, CD etc.
Andrew Healey (13:35:46 PM): OK thanks I will check my setiings tonight. Vishal thanks for your help. Andrew
Vishal J (13:36:02 PM): You are welcome.

  • Transferred pics from iPhoto, now every time connect iPod iPhoto launches

And i don't want it to. I got the photos I wanted from iPhoto onto my iPod, but now every time I connect my iPod Touch to my MBPro iPhoto launches. Please help me make this stop. Went through everything in Prefs for both programs, to no avail.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. It will only happen when there are photos in the "Saved Photos" folder in Photos on the iPod. You can empty that folder and it will stop launching iPhoto.
    2. You can turn this off from Image Capture or iPhoto Prefs. But turning this off will also prevent iPhoto from launching when you connect a camera or SD card.
Preferences (in iPhoto) -> General (at the top) -> Conecting Camera opens -> and click on no application
    OR
Preferences (in Image Capture) -> When a camera is connected: select no application

  • Why does iPhoto launch Chrome

why does iPhoto launch Google Chrome when I Check For Updates?

    Hello Tara,
iPhoto is launching because you have saved photos on your iPod Touch. If you remove them and try to reconnect your iPod, iPhoto will no longer launch. Saved photos could include saved email attachments as well as screen shots you have taken on your iPod Touch.
Go to the "Saved Photos" album under Photos and delete all the photos from that album and that should do the trick for you.

  • When I plug in my new iPad, iPhoto launches instead of iTunes.  How can I get iTunes to launch rather that iPhoto?

I have recently purchased an iPad.  When I plug it in, iPhoto launches rather than iTunes.  I would like iTunes to open when I plug in.  Thoughts?

    Coyote-
With the iPad connected, open iTunes.  Click on the iPad under DEVICES on the left side.  Under the Options window, check "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected".
In iPhoto Preferences-General, Connecting camera opens: may be what controls whether or not iPhoto launches.  I have mine set to "No application".

  • IPhoto launches when I switch my iPhone on. Why?

I have a Macbook Pro and I charge my iPhone 3GS from it. When I switch the phone on (from being fully off), iPhoto launches. How can I make this stop? As far as I can see there are no photos on the phone needing to be imported into iPhoto.
    Thanks!

It's a Preference setting which I believe you find in iPhoto.
Pretty much every photo app has a preference to open automtically if it sees a camera attached to the USB port and it is seeing your iPhone as a camera (which it is)
If it's nt in the iPhoto preferences, it will be in the iTunes preferences

  • How to stop iPhoto launch when saving pictures in Safari?

How do I stop iPhoto from automatically launching or coming to the front of the screen every time I want to save a picture I find using Safari?  It's incredibly annoying that each time I click to save one, iPhoto just jumps right into my face.
    Thanks!

    Hi Neil -
Thanks for getting back so quickly.  Unfortunately this didn't do the trick.
Perhaps I should have been more specific: I'm "adding the photos" to my library.  Each time I do this iPhoto launches.
    Thanks!

  • IPhoto launches when I don't want it to

Whenever I insert my thumb drive, iPhoto launches. How do I stop this irritating behavior?

1 - post in the iPhoto 6 forum as a starting point
2 - I believe that in iPhoto 6 you set this preference in image capture not iPhoto - but beware any answers you get in the iPhoto '08 forum may not be correct for other versions - that is why there are separate forums for each version

  • Avoiding iPhoto launch when connecting MP3 player

When I connect a Sansa Clip MP3 player to my Mac, iPhoto launches. There aren't any pictures on the Clip -- it couldn't do anything with them if there were -- but apparently there's something about it that makes iPhoto think it's a camera. The Clip is in MSC mode, so it mounts as a regular volume on my desktop, with folders like AUDIBLE, AUDIOBOOKS, MUSIC, PODCASTS, and RECORD... nothing that (to me at least) says "I'm a camera."
I do want iPhoto to launch when cameras and photo-bearing SD cards are inserted, so I don't want to disable its auto-launch feature completely -- I just don't want it to think that the Clip is a camera.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or know what it is about an external "drive" that leads OS X to treat it as a photo source?
    Thanks!

Thanks, Larry, but that doesn't appear to be the case, at least not with my quick test. I have a regular 4G USB flash drive that's formatted as FAT. When I plug it in, it mounts normally, but iPhoto doesn't launch. Could it be something else, or am I missing something? Thanks again!

  • IPhoto launching when it shouldn't?

is there a good reason why suddenly iPhoto launches whenever i plug in a little keychain flash drive? it never did so before, and i've had the drive for probably two years now.
    thanks.

    thanks for the response. but...
first, there was nothing new on that drive that wasn't always there, and it never used to launch iPhoto. to be sure, i removed ever single graphic file from the drive, and it makes no difference. it still launches iPhoto.
second, when the drive loads in iPhoto, it's not trying to download anything. it goes to the same screen that comes up when i plug in my digital camera, but says "There are no items to import". under the source info in the lower left, it says "No items". there has to be SOMETHING different that's making this happen when it never did before...

  • Can i stop iphoto launching every time i connect my iPhone?

    Hi,
Is there anyway i can stop iPhoto launching when i connect my iPhone to my Mac?
    It's driving me nuts!
I don't use it for images and have no need for iphoto to launch.
    Many thanks.

    Solved, thanks!
The image capture solution works best because i still want iPhoto to launch when i connect my camera.

  • IPhoto launches on start up... how do I disable?

Hi, when I turn on my Mac iPhoto launches (as well as Preview), I have tried to find the command to disable this in the iPhoto prefs but cannot find the option to turn off at start up.
    Can any one help?
    TIA

    Some possibilities:
Right click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock. Is Open at Log In Selected?
Check your System Preferences -> Accounts -> Log In Items
Is there a camera or anything that your Mac might think is a camera (flash drive, USB Hard Disk formatted to a FAT format, phone) attached to your Mac. If so, disconnect it. If you don't want to disconnect it, set iPhoto to "Do Nothing" when a camera is attached. You do this in the iPhoto Preferences.

  • IPhoto launches on start up since 10.5.7 upgrade

Just upgraded to Mac OS 10.5.7 and a new strange problem has occurred.
Upon start up iPhoto launches itself (despite it not being an automatic login item) and is displaying my BootCamp drive (that has WinXP Pro) as a device. I think that its thinks its a camera and is looking for photos on it.
How do I get it stop doing this?

    Thank you Terence.
    That solved the problem.
Strange how this little bug crept into 10.5.7!
My boot camp drive still shows up in iPhoto as a device.
Hopefully the propeller-heads at Apple will kill this bug.

  • Iphoto slideshow questions

I am running iphoto 9.5.1 with OSX 10.9.3 I am making a slideshow that I will eventually export to an external HD. When I make a title for the first picture it does not save for some reason...I have to constantly redue it. Why?
I don't see an option to save the slideshow and it seems to be auto-saving which is great, but that first picture's title won't save.
Last question...when I have completed the slideshow can I just drag and drop it into my external HD?
    thanks

, but it only works on my computer!
Where do you want to play it?  If you want to create a video DVD that will play on TV sets with DVD players you need to use a video DVD authoring applicaiton like iDVD. Here's how:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The following is important only if you don't already have iDVD on your Mac:
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
