IPhoto stops importing pictures

I don't know why iPhoto always does this to me. Whenever I try to import pictures from a folder on my desktop into iPhoto, it'll show that the pictures are being imported in there. However, whenever we get down the the last three pictures, it freezes and shuts down. I've tried with numerous folders of pictures and it's always freezes at the last three pictures and I always end up sending an error report to Apple. What is the problem?

I would suggest you post your topic in the appropriate iPhoto forum. Be sure to include some specific information, like what version of iPhoto you're using.

  • Iphoto stopped importing photos from iphone 6.

All of a sudden, iPhoto 9.2.3 stopped importing photos from my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2).  It says "All photos have already been imported" which they have not.  I still have photos in Camera Roll which iPhoto did not import.  At the same time, I started receiving this message which I plug my iPhone into the computer, "This accessory may not be supported."  Can anyone recommend how to return the iPhone and iPhoto to normal?  Sending photos via email to the computer wastes time.

  • Why has iphoto stopped importing from iphone

Up til now iPhoto has always opened automatically when I connect my iPhone to my computer and started importing photos. In the last week it has stopped.  I have looked at iPhoto preferences and iTunes preferences but can't find how to change settings.  Can anyone help?  Thanks

IMPORTANT READ THIS: disregard everything else i said about photostream because that is not your problem.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SIMPLY SIGNOUT OF MAC ACCOUNT AND SING BACK IN AND PLUG YOUR IPHONE AGAIN
once you have done this iphoto will pop up to import photos. the problem was that you probably quit out of iphoto when it was triying to import iphone photos once. If you do this, as long as your sighned in to your mac account, iphoto wont pop up, no matter how many times you plug your iphone nto the mac.

  • IPhoto stopped importing iPhone photos automatically, how to i change this?

so whenever i connected my iphone to my imac the photos i had would back up onto iphoto immediately but now they dont do it at all. How to i fix this? Could it have something to do with icloud?

Your situation really is confusing. Try moving the Originals folder you moved out of the Rescue folder back into the rescue folder. Then move the Rescue folder back into the pictures folder. The Rescue folder should now be as it was earlier. Launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, locate and select the Rescue folder. If it open OK and you have your library as it was before we started you can move the other library to the desktop. Then take the Originals folder out of that library folder and import into your Rescue library. That was you'll have all of the pictures in the library. But before you do, make a temp copy of the Rescue folder (select and type Command-D) just in case.

  • IPhoto Rotating Imported Pictures Randomly

    Hey,
Ive been having this problem for a while through multiple Mac OS updates/Phone updates.  I've got a 2008 Macbook Pro (Ancient I know) and an IPhone 5.  It is running the latest Mavericks OS and the phone is up to date.  Anyway, it always seems to randomly rotate pictures taken with my IPhone.  Sometimes landscape shots are upside down, sometimes portrait shots are sideways.  Even in a string of pictures taken within moments of each other at the same angle, a single photo will be rotated (sometimes multiple).  I cant seem to fix it and it is extremely annoying.  Please help!
    Thanks in advance
    -Chase

Which iPhoto version are you using?
Try to find out, if the orientation flags on the original image files are correct.
Select one of the correct Portrait shots and one of the incorrectly oriented Portrait shots and reveal the original files in the Finder (File > Reveal in Finder > Original File). Then open this file in Preview and show the Inspector (Tools > Show Inspector).
If the image has an orientation flag, you will see it in the "General" tab of the Inspector.
Is there difference between the correctly oriented photos and the ones with the wrong orientation?

  • IPhoto stopped importing from iPhone

I have been importing photos from my iPhone 4 into iPhoto '11 with no issues.  Then yesterday something weird happeded.  My iPhone shows up in iPhoto and it does not display the photos on the phone just dotted oulines (see screen shot below).  If I click to import one it says it is in the wrong format.  How do I resolve this issue.  (I have closed iPhoto, I've re-booted my iPhone (photos show up fine on the phone), I've reset my settings in iTunes so that the phone syncs photos from iPhoto to the phone)

I don't know of a fix but I do know a work around. If you have ios 5 or higher, turn on photostream. If the photos are in your camera roll but not in your photostream, pull up the photo to view, then edit it, even it you make no changes to it at all. WHen done edidting save to camera roll again and it will save to photostream as well and then you can use photostream on the Mac to import to the iPhoto.

  • Can't import pictures anymore

I just installed Win 7 pro x64 and upgraded to PSE 8 and after a month or so PSE 8 has stopped importing pictures.  I get some out of memory error, but I have tons of room on my hard drive.
    Help!!!!
    -=Mark=-

To import pictures, I use windows built-in program and when it finishes then I startup PSE 8 and it auto-finds new pictures and asks if I want to import them.
now, I get a online memory full and a popup to buy online space that I don't want and doesn't ask to import new pictures.
I found an option to undo the autosync/backup and now have it off. but it still comes up at startup of PSE 8.
maybe I just want the backup off and the sync still on?
Hope this was useful.  if not, let me know what else you may need.

  • Iphoto turns my pictures very dark

for some reason when i use Iphoto to import picture from my camera it changes all the pictures to a darker setting. I have an E-volt 500 olympus camera and i can import photos into another program fine and the quality stays the same as i would expect but when i use Iphoto all the picture turn out a few shades darker. Is there a reason for this and if so how do i correct it. Is there a way to edit multiple picture at one time so i can just change them all?
    Thanks

Just turning on at option is not enough for those photos already in the library. Export one of the dark ones and then reimport. See if that will lighten up your photos. Also you might have to calibrate your monitor. Since Apple uses the sRGB profile for all of their services and that profile is used more most web use,you might set your monitor to that profile and see if helps.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

    Hi MacuzerNJ,
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference

  • Since Apple's last Update on 6 June 2014, I have been unable to Import photos from any source. I receive a message saying, Importing photos but nothing happens. When I click on Stop Import, nothing happens. I must press the On/Off button to exit iPhoto.

Since Apples last update on 6 June 2014, I have been unable to Import photos from ANY source. When I attempt to do so, I receive the message "Import  Preparing to inmport..." I've waited 10 minutes but nothing happens. When I click on the icon, Stop Import, nothing happens. When I attempt to Close iPhoto i receive the message, "Photos are being imported to the photo library. Please wait for import to complete." When I click on OK, nothing happens. The only way I can exit iPhoto is to press the On/Off button.

After loading this file I was sucessful in importing photos from a web site, my camera memory card and a CD containing photos.
That is a good news.  We now know, that iPhoto is working as expected, when you are switching to a different library.
    But this is puzzling:
I then see a box with two Librarys listed, both have the same name except for the following and are listed as:
iPhoto Library.photolibrary but one has (default) after its name which is the one which is always displayed when I load iPhoto.
    Underneath the box is written:
    /Users/paulfkardian/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary
Underneath this are three boxes titled: Other Library    Create New    Choose
I highlighted the the File without the (default) after its name and clicked on Choose. A Library was loaded which had my photos (about 9,822) from about 7 months ago. Underneath the box is written diferently than the file always loaded and says:
    /Users/paulfkardian/Pictures (original)/iPhoto Library.photolibrary
You are having two "Pictures" folders in your Home folder, Pictures and Pictures (original)? And each has a different iPhoto library - one working correctly, and one not?  Do you remember, when this second "Pictures" folder has been created and what caused it?  Did you restore your Home folder from a backup some time ago?

  • Iphoto 09 8.1.2 won't import pictures

It doesn't seem to matter what I do, but iPhoto has decided in the last couple of months to stop saving imported events/pictures. I can open the program, create events, import photos, etc. but when I close it, and open it again all the photos I imported are gone. It is quite frustrating. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I've looked around the discussion for possible answers but I've found no one with a similar problem. I should also mention that I import my photos from my camera via a memory card and first organize them into folders in a Picture folder before importing them to iPhoto. The pictures are all on my hard drive, and there are no problems there.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
It sounds like you have either a database issue or a permissions issue.
Rebuild your iPhoto Library following http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638.
I would use the options in this order:
1.) Repair permissions -- allow to complete
2.) Rebuild database -- allow to complete
    3.) Reclaim unused space
Also make sure your iPhoto Library is being stored on your internal HD or an external that is Mac OS formatted. And be sure you are not using File Vault http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8738.html.

  • Can't import pictures to iPhoto and can't close app

    Good Day!
    iMac with OS X 10.8.2
    iPhoto 9.4.2
iPhoto as stopped working recently. It used to be fine.
I cannot import pictures anymore: From camera, it says it's importing but it hangs and I have to force quit. From desktop nothing happens.
Also, when I try to quit iPhoto it hangs. Have to force quit.
I have restarted iPhoto with "option-command" keys and went through all the options with no success.
I have deleted iPhoto (dragged from applications menu to trash) and reinstalled it with no success.
Any idea what I could try next?
    Regards,
    003

You could try to recover using Time Capsule, but I fear that the backed up iPhoto Library suffers from the same corruption. You could go back in time to earlier Time Machine backups on Time Capsule to try to find an uncorrupted, older version of your iPhoto Library.
Here's how to move all your photos into a brand new iPhoto Library. This is a brute force way to get all your original photos (and events) into a new, clean Library. I think that your album information will not be moved into the new Library and you'll need to recreate that.
I normally would not recommend doing this but because you have already rebuit your Library using Apple's method and also using IPhoto Library Manager and haven't succeeded, this is like a last resort.
    (1) Start iPhoto with option key held down to create a brand new, empty iPhoto Library. (I think you have done this already, actually.)
    (2) With iPhoto running from this new, empty iPhoto Library, go to your old, corrupted iPhoto Library in the Finder. Control-click on the corrupted Library and select Show Package Contents.
    (3) There should be a folder called Masters there. It should have lots of folders and photo files inside. Drag that Masters folder onto your open iPhoto window where you are running iPhoto connected to the new, empty iPhoto Library.
    (4) This should import (copy) into the new Library all the original photos from the old, corrupted Library.
    (5) You may find that the Event names are not what they were in the old, corrupted Library, but I think the photos will still be grouped into the same Events as before.
    (6) Close iPhoto. Reopen iPhoto, see that this new Library appears to have all your photos as best you can.
You can return to your old, corrupted iPhoto Library for more attempts to revive it because this procedure does not do anything to that old Library. It simply copies all the photos into a new one.
Make sure you have enough disk space to essentially make a copy of the old Library befor eembarking on this.

  • IPhoto froze while importing photos from iPhone to Mac, unable to stop import

My iPhoto on my Mac Book Pro (Retina, 13-inch, 2.4 GHz intel core i5, 8GM memory 1600 Mhz DDR3, in the OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1) froze while I was importing pictures from my iPhone 6. I am unable to 'Stop Import', as when I press to stop the import my Mac does not respond. There is a continuous loading sign next to my iPhone device. I am still able to use other features of my Mac and iPhoto, only the import page is not responsive.

  • IPhoto stopped working while importing photos from iPhone

I am new to Mac OX and I just tried to load all my pictures in the iPhone to the Macbook Air by iPhoto.
There were some 4000 pictures in my iPhone.  During the import and while the blue bar go half way, the picture stopped skipping and the import seemed to stop itself.
I clicked "Stop Import" and then clicked "Keep Photos" in the prompt.  However, nothing happened.  The iPhoto just don't let me quit and prompted "Photos are being imported to the photo library.  Please wait for import to complete".
what should I do?  I just want to back up my photos.
