IPhoto won't print - where are themes? but this is really annoying.

What does this mean?
"There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable."
I have always been able to print. I hate Events, but this is really annoying.
Thanks

Dean:
Look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder to see if there's a folder titled Themes in there. If so move it to the HD/Library/iPhoto folder and reboot. If that doesn't get iPhoto back up and printing as it should you'll have to reinstall as follows:
Restoring iPhoto Themes
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete any Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder.
4 - delete any Themes folder from your HD/Library/iPhoto folder.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer or use the iLife 08 disk and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
If you have problems with a custom install from your system install disk you can use Pacifistto locate, extract and install iPhoto from the disk.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

When I touch buttons voice names them but does not really respond.  What should I do to restore normal work? Thank you

I have the same problem, its an ipod touch, the most recent version, for my granma. she is blind. it wouldn't respond when you pick something, double tapping or even identifying it when either of use it.
i can see that i am tapping the buttons in VO mode and it doesn't respond. It also says to scroll with three fingers and that takes 20 tries to get to work. I bought this for my grandmother to use VO and it doesn't work. Its a load of crap. I thought if I updated that might help, it doesn't need to be updated.
And the voice speed is almost at the lowest and it still talks fast.
It is ridiculous to have a feature like this and it not be useable. Disgruntled and disgusted by Apple's disregard for the people who could most benefit from this type of technology. I've looked on websites for the blind. So far, no help or advice.

  • IPhoto won't print - no themes...again

    Hi,
I've done a search for this one and it can't be the first time it's come up but I can't find the precise description anywhere else so here goes and hope someone can help...
I've got an iMac and a MacbookAir, both bought with OS Snow Leopard installed.  Now both are running OS Lion and both have been upgraded to IPhoto 9.4.2.
The iMac runs iPhoto fine, no problems.
The MacbookAir suffers from the printing problem noted by many others, can't print as there are no themes installed.
More of an aside but the Macbook Air has my working iPhoto library on it, all backed up etc, but I want to transfer this to the iMac soon so that I can use the MBA more as a mobile editting tool for new or occassional images, then load these onto the iMac in iPhoto.
However, really want to be able to print from iPhoto in the MBA, especially for those things that need a review or quick print before transferring.  I've seen many threads suggesting I need to re-install the iPhoto that came with the computer - ok, but these are on discs and my MBA doesn't have a DVD drive - and anyway I don't think that version is compatible with OS Lion.....so might not even be able to reload this from the App Store 'hidden purchases' option (which I can't find btw).
Anyone got any suggestions on how can I fix this ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Larry,
Thanks for the tip but unfortunately I can't see any software other than iPhone Apps on the App Store, and can't see beyond 18 months in the Apple Store.
Maybe I should have noted (in case this means the software wouldn't be logged on the Apple store anyway) that both iMac and MBA were bought from an independent Mac seller, rather than direct with an Apple store, and that I used Migration Assistant via a Firewire to USB lead, to transfer the software and files between the two computers.  As said above, the software on the iMac was installed at the time I bought it and, although I have the start up discs, the iPhoto on them is compatible with OS Snow Leopard - not OS Lion now running on both machines.
    Thanks.

  • TS2551 In order to print from Iphoto 11 , it ask for a theme , but does not supply a window in which to make a theme.

I need to print from Iphoto , but it ask for a theme , but does not supply a window or a way to apply the theme.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:
    1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent
    2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)
But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.
I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.
I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)
the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.
Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?
    system:
Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)
MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)
    Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04
printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

I just found this solution on another board, I tried it  (I removed the same file listed below) and it worked for me....
Safari won’t save or print PDFs: how to fix

If Safari won’t save or print PDFs (but views them without any problems), you probably have an Adobe PDF plug-in installed. In Safari, go to Help->Installed Plug-ins and do a search for “PDF.” If you have anything with “PDF” in it other than “WebKit built-in PDF,” that is probably the culprit.
On my computer, the problem was “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin”. To remove it, I quit Safari, did a Spotlight search (Command-Option space) for that file name, and then dragged it to the trash. When I restarted Safari, I could print and save PDFs again. You can also manually find the plugins by going to the system “Library”  folder (the one at the root of your hard disk, not in your user folder) and looking in the “Internet Plug-Ins” folder.
    I’m on OS X 10.8.2, running Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17).

  • IPhoto won't print

This issue began a more major problem in which all of my wife's pictures disappeared. That's been solved, and the pictures are back. In order to keep that thread from becoming too long and complicated I'm reposting in this new thread the original problem.
A couple of days ago my wife did the automatic update to iPhoto 6.0.6. Following that it ceased printing on our Epson Stylus CX4200. Other programs print normally; it is only iPhoto that has a problem. I have downloaded all the latest drivers from Epson, but it hasn't helped. My own two computers also won't print from iPhoto, though I haven't updated their drivers.
    I just identified that it will print 8.5 x 11 paper, but it won't print 4 x 6 photos.
    iMac G4 + PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I didn't get any replies to this problem, but eventually I was able to figure out the fix. I'll post it here in case someone else runs into this problem.
The printer instruction manual (PDF file) explains how to delete the printer drivers and reinstall. It also explains how to delete and reinstall the program that controls the scanning function (that had also quit working). When I got through deleting and reinstalling everything worked again.
Downloading updated drivers from the company that made the printer often fixes this kind of problem, but not in this case. Reinstalling the older drivers that came with the printer did the trick.

  • IPhoto won't print., iPhoto won't print.

When i try to print  i get the message
"No available themes- There were no themes located. Untill at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable"
I haven't hearad that one in relation to printing before!!
I can export the image and print it from Preview, but that's not the point.
I recently updated to Lion 10.7.2 and iPhoto version'11  9.2 and reinstalled ithe update, but it wont have it.
    Whats happening here

If the "Themes" problem arises in OS 10.7.2 Lion, Apart from the fact that User library is an invisible file now, Old Toad's solution still holds good.
In my case, I had to trash the iPhoto application and the Themes folders and reinstall from my original iLife 11 disc which gave me iPhoto version 9.  The updates are available from Appple Support Dowloads and note that iPhoto has to be updated to version 9.1 before version 9.2.1 will work.
The  pictures library is unaffected by the reinstall
If you need to see the User library, a Widget called Hidden Files will make it visible.
Thanks for the heads up John Hammer1

  • Won't print to photo tray, but will print test page

I have most current Vista driver, but can't print to photo tray.  It won't pull the tray in, although it works great when printing test page.  I tried various page/paper settings and "photo tray" light settings, but still won't print from Vista.
Tried 8250 printer properties, changing paper settings, but can't recognize settings, even though it sees the paper and prints the test page.  Seemed to work just fine with XP.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Plugged into an XP machine, photo printed.
Plugged back into Vista, fooled with the settings, then it worked!
I don't know what exactly fixed it...

  • Where are Themes saved?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a certain place that Custom Themes are saved by default. I've created a theme and would like to give it to someone else to use, but I can't find the file anywhere on my computer. I can find the built-in themes, but not any of my custom ones.
    Thanks!

  • My printer is stating it's off line and won't print, how do i fix this?

My printer states it's off line ( which I did not request this) now I can't print anything. How do I fix this?

Hello sherry1952.  The community is eager to assist! To ensure the most accurate information is provided, we’ll need to know the model of the printer you are using, as well as the version of Windows or Mac in use.  We look forward to hearing back from you!

  • It seems that many (if not all) of my files have been replaced by older versions. I kind find the multiple versions (listed in the Search as in the same dir) and restore them but this is strange. There is no chance that another user here has done a restor

It seems that many (if not all) of my files have been replaced by older versions. I can find the multiple version including the most recent version using the Search, however, they show up in the same directory even though Finder only shows a single copy. I am able to save and then overwrite in order to restore but this is strange. There is no chance that another user here has done any sort of system restore action (at least intentionally).

I can find the multiple version including the most recent version using the Search, however, they show up in the same directory even though Finder only shows a single copy.
In a OS Extended (HFS) file system there is no way you can have two files with identical names in the same directory.
Of course who knows what spotlight is thinking of most of the time when it does its stupid searches (get Find any File instead) and lists its results?  Are you sure it is listing the same directory or do you have a backup and it is finding it there and you aren't noticing it is two different volumes?
You could also try reindixing the volume.  Add it to the Spotlight system preferences Privacy and then remove it.

  • Trying to copy files and getting this error message, One or more items can't be copied because you don't have permission to read them. this is really annoying, can someone pls help..?

i have two network drive and i am trying to copy a file from my mac mini to one of the network drives, but i keep getting this error message "One or more items can’t be copied because you don’t have permission to read them." i have no idea why this is since i have always been able to copy stuff back and forth. i checked my file sharing permissions and it is set to read and write for admin (me), none for everyone and read for guests. can someone please, this is very annoying and this is the second time it has happened to me.

neither move nor copy is working. both way gives same error message. what i would like to do however is move the file. yes i am logged in as a the admin and the issue is affecting not just that particular file in my system but others as well. i looked at get info and no the file is not locked but under permission, it says everyone and read only. it will not let me change this setting from get info however when i look under system preferences for file sharing, my setting is read and write for admin (me), none for everyone and read for guests.

  • IPhoto won't print in portrait

When i select a portrait photo the preview on the right shows the correct orientation, but when i click print the full print preview (and then the printout) has turned to landscape trimming the top and bottom off the photo. This has only happened since Yosemite.

That means the problem is in your account.  It could be a corrupted preference file other than iPhoto's that's interfering with the printing.  Here's how to test for that:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
    1 - close all applications.
2 - open your Home/Library folder and Option-drag (copy) the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
3 - select the contents of your Home/Library/Preferences folder and drag them into the Trash bin in the Dock.  You will be asked to provide your Admin password.
4 - reboot. Be sure to know your account's username and password as you will be asked to log in with it.
5 - run the application again and determine if the problem(s) is fixed.
6 - If the problem is fixed:
    A - open the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
B - Open the Preferences  folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace or Skip button.
    D - reboot.
7 - If the problem is NOT fixed, drag the contents of the Preference folder on the Desktop into the Home/Library/Preference folder and replace the entire contents that were created by clicking on Replace.
8 - reboot and you're back as square one.
Note:  keep the Preference folder on the desktop until you're sure all registration info for your apps are working.  If not you can copy the required files from the desktop pref folder to the working one.
