IPod 5G Photo Transfer

Hello,
Does anyone could help, how to transfer photo to IPod 5G (Ipod video) without use PC, direct from the card reader? and please advise, which card reader compatible with IPod Video?
Thanks
Clarissa Smith

Open Windows Explorer once your IPOD is plugged in and in Disk mode. Drag the folder with your pictures in it to the IPOD icon and drop it. That's it. Just remember this is for transferrring photos from one location to another and cannot be viewed using the IPODs interface.

  • Ipod Touch Photo Transfer

    HI;
Part 2: I understand there is no direct transfer available at this time for photos. However, what I have found is that with my phone I can take 2megapixel photos and e-mail them or put in a microsd card from a camera and upload them to an e-mail address. They come through onto the Ipod touch promptly, and look excellent in the web browser.
When I save them, I lose all the resolution and they look horrible from the photos app.
So now all I am looking for is a way to save my photos from mail in there regular resolution.
    Thanks so much
    Jamie

what do you mean by 'no direct transfer' for photos?
you can directly transfer them from you computer to your ipod, syncing them like you do everything else.
the resolution of photos obtained on the ipod touch is a common problem (though not one i have encountered personally). the latest update claimed to fix this, some people said it worked, others say it didn't. unfortunately there may be nothing you can do about this - other than feedback to apple to let them know it is still happening.

edit: ok, i've see your original post about 'direct transfer'.

You need a third-party program like the paid PhoneView or TouchCopy. The free iFunBox may work.
BTW this is the iPod touch forum.

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Most other stuff by the third-party programs discussed here:

However, your app data such as saved games will be lost unless you have a backup file from your old computer.

  • Photo Transfer to 5G Questions

I'd like to download photos from my digital camera to my 5G but don't really wish to spend $50 Can for the adapter that Apple sells. Was wondering then if my camera USB cable and iPod USB cable could simply be connected with a USB female-female connector or, does the Apple camera adapter perform some sort of signal processing?
Also, I can't figure out what initiates the photo transfer - there seems to be no menu options for it in the iPod. Or, does the transfer take place automatically when the camera and iPod are connected?
    TIA for any help.........

    Hi Laurie,
After you plug in the camera adapter the iPod goes to an import screen where you select Import to copy the photos to the iPod. I believe the connector is the only way to have this work (a dock to usb cable won't do the trick).

  • 5th gen photo transfer and quality question (also for nano)

I am still in doubt whether to buy a nano 8 gb or a 5th gen 30 gb. I would also like to use the ipod to transfer photos from my digital Canon Rebel to the ipod. Is this possible for both models?
The 6 megapixel camera makes photos with a size of roughly 2.5-3 MB. I noticed in both the specs-lists for the 5th gen and the nano something like 'iPod customized photos' or 'ipod viewable photos'. I have to know whether the photos I put from the camera to the ipos will stay completely untouched and at original size. Is this the case? Can I still watch those 2.5 MB photos on the ipod or are they just sotred as general 'non-viewable' data and should you convert them (just like mp3/avi video) before you can watch them...
Can I assume that the nano and 5th gen are identical when it comes to transferring photos from a camera? Do they both have the quick transfer possibility with the 30 dollar adapter?
If you have a compact camera that, besides photos, holds videos (usually mpg), will this data also be trnasferred to the ipod?

  • How do you send photos from ipod to photo website (i.e.Kodak) for printing?

How do you send photos from ipod to photo website (i.e.Kodak) for printing? I'm copying all the photos from my PC to my ipod (to free up hard drive space on the PC). Once I do this, how do I use the photos on the ipod, i.e. printing, emailing?
    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that you'll have to transfer them back to your hard drive to print or email them.
Also, do yourself a favor: back up you photos.

  • Ipod to computer transfer on vista

I just got a new computer with windows vista + downloaded i-tunes
does anyone know how to get the music from my i-pod to itunes as anything i try seems to work for some computers but not mine and vista
I'm really worried I will be stuck unable to update my i-pod again!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Photo transfer issues

I'm trying to transfer photos to my iPod from two different Konica Minolta cameras (X50 and Z3), both of which are on the compatable list on Apple's site. I transferred a batch of photos from one camera, then tried to transfer photos from the other. The iPod showed 0 photos available, even though there are over 100 on the camera. When I select import from the menu I get a message saying "an error occured while importing" and the iPod will not transfer any photos. I searched on the site and one "solution" was to unplug the iPod and camera and try again. No matter which camera I try to connect (both still have photos on them) the iPod will say there are 0 phots available to transfer and if I try to import I will get the same message ("an error occured while importing"). Any suggestions would be appreciated because I'm going on vacation in a couple of weeks and wanted to be able to get this to work so I wouldn't have to drag my laptop along. Thank you.
      Windows XP
