IPod mini no longer visible on Mac or in iTunes

My daughter's pink iPod mini is no longer visible on her iTunes, or on our Mac. My son has been to the web site, has followed all steps to reload software, restore iPod, he's been quite methodical. We have OSX 10.3.4, iPod software has been updated, and we haven't changed computer wiring configurations. Using this same computer and the same iPod cable, my son's iPod mini is visible on iTunes and on the Mac. Can anyone please offer advice on what we should try next?

Ipod mini no longer connecting nor shows up in iTunes

My ipod mini was working fine but the past week I have been unable to get it to show up in iTunes! It is fully charged (I am able to charge via my computer) but still no go on showing up.

When I plug in my iPod Classic, it is visible in My Computer, but iTunes gives an error message saying "The software required for this iPod is not installed corectly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the required software." It started completely randomly and now does it every time. I completely wiped out iTunes and reinstalled it via the intructions from this website, but it is still doing the same thing. Furthermore, when I go to Start, All Programs, the iTunes folder contains no data AND the desktop shortcup does nothing when clicked on. I have to go to Start, Run, and type in itunes.exe in order to run the program. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Do one or more of the following
> Restart your computer
> Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
> Reset iDevice (won't erase everything)
> Go to My Computer (windows xp) or Computer (windows vista & 7) and see if iDevice shows
> Restore the iDevice completely (will erase everything)
> Make sure the iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up-to-date.

IPod Mini No Longer Recognized by G5 10.2.8?

I connected an iPod Mini to a new iMac with 10.4.4 to charge it and now the Mini is not recognized by a G5 with 10.2.8. I read that 10.2.8 does not support USB 2.0. For some reason, the iPod was updated to USB 2.0 and the driver is not downward compatible. So, I puchased a firewire-dock cable. The iPod Mini is still not recognized. I can't try the last one, Restore, because the Mini is not recognized. How can you Restore if the iPod Mini is not in the iTunes Source List?

Never mind. I used the iPod Updater 2006-06-28 to restore and everything's fine.

I have just upgraded to Yosemite and the latest iTunes. But my iPod Classic is no longer visible in iTunes. It is on the desk top and I can drag files to it, but is there a way of restoring it to iTunes?

Ipod Mini no longer recognized - can't reload itunes 6

We downloaded Itunes 6 this past Saturday but last night the system no longer recognizes that the Ipod Mini is there and says that the program for communication with the ipod is missing.
When I try to download Itunes 6 to reinstall, the automatic download never starts.
Why is Itunes 6 such a problem? How do I get back to a working state?

just checking something before we proceed. are you also getting an "Ipod Service Error" when you click on your ipod updater?
(if so, there's a chance we may be able to fix this without having to resort to a reinstall.)

I got an iPod mini (1st generation) last year which is compatible with windows. But have just bought a new macbook. Will mini work on the macbook, and if not is there anything i can do to make it work with the macbook?

Ipod mini: used to be on mac - now pc?!?!?! please help!

My old mac crashed, and all of my music files are in my ipod mini. I've decided to use a pc for all of my music needs. I've tried to run the updater.... but it only gives me the restore option. It says that it's because my ipod's not formatted to the pc.
So how can I back up all of my music on a pc... even though it's not formatted? I don't want to lose my entire library of songs!

Cannot play bought music on iPod Mini (any longer)

My iPod Mini refuses to play (any longer!!!) the songs I bought in the Music Store. It just skips the songs from the moment they are activated. In iTunes the music is played without any problems.

6 GB iPod Mini discharges when plugged into Mac Mini via USB 2.0 hub

I have a 6 GB iPod Mini and when i connect it to my computer, instead of charging, it discharges. The iPod is connected to a self powered USB 2.0 hub. Does anybody have any ideas of what to do. I need a hub because the Mac Mini only has 2 USB ports and the keyboard and mouse don't work through the hub (well the keyboard it self does but the hub doesn't which the Mighty Mouse is plugged into)

When i say self powered i mean that it has an external power supply (my hub it has two lights, when it is connected to USB and has p\s connected and plugged in a light lights up that has the word "Self" next to it, when it is connected just to USB it has a light that lights up with the word "Bus" next to it.) I am sorry if i confused you (or if i confused myself). About the firewire thing, i am planning to get the next normal iPod Apple releases but the current ones dont support firewire so the new one probably wont either, so i will be in the same boat as i am now when i get a new one.

many months ago, i was able to sync the ipod mini. now i want to change the songs, but ipod can't be detected.
i've tried to reinstall itunes (6.04), restart system, retry on a different usb port. But, the iPod Updater 2006-03-23 can't detect my ipod. "plug in your ipod to update it"
itunes can't detect my ipod also. "no ipod connected"
i've tried disk mode - "ok to disconnect". but the screen remain unchanged.
the strange part is the mini is charging. i've tried it when its fully charge, but still fail to sync.
pls help, i'm willing to lose all my data. i just want to detect the mini.

I think if you've tried everything here (and it appears you may have), then it's time for service.
iPod doesn't appear in iTunes or on the Mac desktop.
iPod does not appear in iPod Updater or iTunes in Mac OS X.
iPod appears on the Mac OS X desktop but not in iTunes.
It might just need a battery replacement. Does it otherwise work as normal?

Are they no longer selling "ipod minis?" have they been replaced by the ipod nano? that would be really awful because I was just going to buy one. My reason to thinking that they aren't selling them anymore is in the Apple Store Website they dont mention the ipod mini in things you can buy..so please tell me if you know anything! thanks for your help..

Your sense of timing is as goofy as your sense of time. The Mini has been around for longer than a year. Apple didn't "started to discontinue" the Mini - it DISCONTINUED the Mini when the Nano appeared, just over a month ago. Many retailers still have a supply of Minis.

Old iPod mini with a new iMac using a different iTunes library

I just bought a new iMac (never before owned one). I have an iPod mini with a bunch of music on it that I downloaded from a library on an IBM, which I no longer have. How can I transfer all of the music that is currently on my iPod mini to the library in iTunes of my brand new iMac? I can't seem to find any options that allow me to do this. It looks like I can only erase my iPod memory and replace with the Library on my iMac, which is currently empty. Please tell me that I don't have to re-create a new libray on my iMac.

Thanks for the information. I just got done with the iPod. I was able to use Senuti to dowload all of the contents of my iPod into iTunes and then update my iPod mini's software and reload all of the songs back onto the iPod. It was freakin' awesome!!
You really saved me a huge headache and a boatload of time!!
