Ipod problem... someone anyone please read and help

Hi all,
I have an older 3rd generation ipod (ipod with dock) 20 GB as well as windows XP. I had an older version of itunes that erased my ipod; however I downloaded the latest version of itunes and updated my ipod software this morning. I plugged the ipod back into my computer and when i checked in "my computer" it still showed that the songs were in the hard drive (~14 GB) so i got excited and when i safely removed the ipod they were not in the display. So i plugged the ipod back in and itunes 7.3.2 created a playlist in my name and loaded surprise surprise a playlistwith 6GB of random songs... So now itunes views my ipod as full and i only see 6GB of music instead of what it should be 14 GB. I hope this doesnt sound crazy. If someone knows what this is please reply. Thank you so much
I tried to reset my ipod and that didnt work..
THANKS IN ADVANCE
-Pete

  • Problems with keyboard--Please read and help!

    Ok, I have a Blackberry Curve 8320
    Carrier is T-mobile
I did just do an update on my phone but the problem existed before this. Also, I have already done several battery pulls and haven't fixed the problem yet.
The original issue was that every time I pressed the B button, ALT button, or the SYM button...it would automatically type b$
However, if I hit the ALT button then anything, it would type B$
I don't know what happened but it suddenly started working correctly and I had changed my mind about posting....BUT
it started messing up again! Now, more than one of the keys are acting funny and I'm not sure why.
What is currently happening is if I hit the 'a' button, it types 'ja'
If I press the ALT button, it types b$ again and it does it sometimes if I press B but NOT consistently.
It hasn't been near any water or anything of that sort. I haven't knowingly messed with any settings but I may have by accident.
I do lock my phone before putting it in my pocket or anything else so I'm not really pressing random buttons when I'm unaware of my doing it.
Does anyone have any suggestions or guesses or a way to fix this?

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath, or a pocket when you're seating, can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    3. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
*Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • Here's a challenge please read and help.......

I work for a company of a 1000 people and the owners bought everyone an ipod.
the problem is that my boss wants me to record each persons serial number to their ipod and print it out for his records.
i know that the serial number is on the back of the unit but that would take to long.
I also know that when its plugged into the ipod updater program the serial number also shows.
I would like to know if someone can build me a script that would grab the serial number to each ipod i plug in to the updater (maybe bash script, grab from string) copy it to the clip board and paste it to a text edit document. ohh and also a dialog box so i can write the persons name down. and if that can be added to the document as well.
    Sincerely
    an over worked employee.

If you still have the boxes handy, check to see if the S/N is printed on with a barcode. If so you can just zap those all in with a reader and be done with it in minutes.
Otherwise, to fish that string out of Updater first you must launch Apps/AppleScript/AppleScript Utility.app and check Enable GUI Scripting (enter an admin pass), then you can run this script…
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tell application "System Events" to tell process "iPod Updater" to set an_sn to the value of static text 6 of group 1 of window 1
    tell application "TextEdit"
    activate
set a_name to the text returned of (display dialog "Enter a name for iPod " & an_sn default answer "")
if the length of (get documents) is less than 1 then make new document
tell (a reference to the front document's text) to set contents to contents & an_sn & tab & a_name & return

  • I AM HAVIN MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY IPOD PLEASE READ AND HELP

I can't import movies on my iPod or even get it to show up on iTunes please help and respond if you know how to fix this problem.

you may need to convert the videos to a format appropriate for the ipod to see them .which are .mov or .mp4 video files. to do this you will ened to convert the videos using a 3rd party software that is not suported by apple. windows users have had either trouble or success using this software.
To use Videora iPod Convertor to convert movies for use on your iPod, consult these helpful links:

  • Problem with iTunes and iPhone Music organization. PLEASE READ AND HELP!

    Hello All!
I have this problem concerning iTunes and my iPhone. When I add music, and I update the Artist title to organize it in my iPhone, It shows EDITED on my mac in iTunes, but not my iPhone. I took a screen shot of what It shows. The TOP is iTunes showing "Arie Dixon" and "Arie Dixon & Olivia Cipolla" two seperate CD's, yet different Artist Titles, just the way I want it. The BOTTOM shows how the file was originally, in 3 seperate titles, "Bebe Boohgz" "The Jackmove 3" and "Arie Dixon 'Bebe Boohgz' and Olivia Cipolla". The problem is that iTunes shows it in the correct title, but my iPhone won't. This is my 2nd iPhone 4 I have that has this problem. I'm not sure if it's the settings or encoding, can someone help me out? I can't be the only person with this problem. Apple rep looked at me like o_O
I also have music that won't appear in my iPhone, I manually have to search for, but appears on my iTunes in the correct title.
I also have everything updated, and have the new os x release.

I have a 3GS and the ios is 4.3.4.   I am trying to load the latest version so I can then get the icloud.
So plug the device into the computer and upgrade.
Are you getting a specific error message when trying to do this?
As for the message about the media disappearing, of course it will.  This is how iOS upgrades work.  The device is wiped and the newest version of iOS for the device is installed as a "new" device then the device is restored using the backup created prior to the upgrade.
All the content on the device should already exist in iTunes on the computer.
If you want to move your iTunes library to a different drive for capacity reasons, do the following:
    Close iTunes
Copy or Move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the C drive to the other drive.
While holding SHIFT launch iTunes.  iTunes will then prompt the user to select a library or create a new one.  Point iTunes to the new iTunes folder location.

  • IPhone 4s UK Siri iOS7 Problem! Please read and help APPLE

Hello so yesterday I did the update for iOS7 for my iphone 4s. Everything was ok until I checked out SIRI.
Siri's voice has become FUZZY, unclear, no way is it easy to understand, etc.
Yes i've changed the siri to US siri but if i ask siri to take me home, or another location. Sir will then take me to the maps application and then Siri will go back to UK siri.
So my problem has not been fixed. Also ive tried using the enhanced quality and still dont work the UK siri voice is still fuzzy.
Does anyone know when Apple will fix this problem?

It sounds like your mom is already due for an upgrade, while you have to wait till December.   Your mother has a perfectly good solution to tide you over till you can get an iPhone 6 as well.
you only have to live with the 5c for a short time.  Stick a good case on it so the screen can't pop out and be good to it till you can upgrade.

  • ITunes does not detect my iPod-- please read and help?!

I tried all the help Apple told me to do. I reset my iPod(didn't work) and then I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. That didn't work either. My iTunes still does not detect my iPod. The newly downloaded iTunes was at least supposed to tell me that my iPod was "corrupted" but it didn't. So... I'm not sure that it is. But that is the only reason Apple tells you could cause this. So yeah, I'm pretty lost right now! Does anybody know anything to help(by the way, I own a 5th generation iPod nano)? Thanks

Take a look at this web page and see if it helps. Some of the suggestions are ones you say you've already tried, but there are other suggestions, one of which may help:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
    Good luck.

  • IPhone 3GS with iOS 5 and storage space/app problems... Please read and help

I have an iPhone 3GS with iOS 5. Before the update I had a load of apps etc and was left with approx 4gb space left. Since the update removed ALL my apps from my iPhone, I still have the same ammount of space. Why is this?

    Hi,
Are you sure your phone has not been unlocked or jailbroken at some time as the same thing happened to me.
I had the phone secondhand and did not know. Updating to IOS 5 locked the phone back to the original service provider which was AT&T in USA and I am in UK.
    Hope this helps,
    Alan

  • Spinning wheel... Please read and help!

I know people have posted questions about this but I haven't seen an answer for my exact question which is: is there anyway to get my spinning wheel to go away out of safari without shutting down safari completely? I have a nursing final open in safari that I've attempted to take literally atleast ten times and this spinning wheel keeps coming up when I have a few questions left. I'm exhausted and just need to finish this test, as it's due soon and I physically haven't been able to do it because this stupid wheel keeps coming up. Also the cursor comes up with any other application so it's not that my computer is frozen, just doesn't wanna work with safari. Please please please someone help. I need to finish this and I need to go to sleep!

Sorry that you did not get a subtantial reply to your
problem, as time was apparenty of the essence...
Much more information would have been required from
you about your OS X version, computer model specs,
and also a cure would likely have required you to shut
    down and restart your computer.
At least perhaps start in SafeBoot, and run repair disk
permissions in Disk Utility. Check some system logs,
and also look into Activity Monitor (probably before
a restart) to see where the system resources were
being used; & if anything running could account for
the problems you've faced in using Safari.
To see what may be behind issues in your running
system you can get & use this free utility from a
trusted developer to get a readout of your OS X
and the results of this can be posted back here in
a discussion area as an image, to help diagnose.
If your computer is running OS X 10.7 or later...
this utility can get information that can help see
what is going on in a running system:
    •About Etrecheck: http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck_story
    Etrecheck/download: http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
{To take an online test, and using a browser, has a
few possible problems that I'd check before doing so.
    If the browser is not up to date, I'd use another;
    most sites can be accessed by several of them.}
However the problem likely is based a combination
of things going on in the Mac OS X; perhaps you
have installed some software from dubious source
and it may be running in the background, or may
have co-opted Safari. Some can mess up browsers.
The generic name of the malady is 'adware' so if
you downloaded applications from less than good
sites, or clicked on a 'free' software offer, you may
have acquired some kind of adware corruption.

So, anyway, there are several things that can cause an
issue of only one open application lagging, it could be
you had limited system resources, too full a hard disk
drive with little free space (for virtual memory swap file)
or not enough installed chip RAM; or some other issue
in the system that a restart may have helped. Or if you
accidentally installed a malware or adware bug, then
almost any of these things would require a restart, etc.

  • Everyone please read and help me with this...

ok so about a year ago i installed iTunes on my computer and had a couple hundred songs downloaded. about half of them were bought out of iTunes. I had them all onto my iPod nano. Then a few weeks later my computer crashed. The hard drive "died" as you can call it. I have recently bought a new computer with Windows XP and we will soon be getting an upgrade to Vista.
    I have two questions...
1). does anyone remember about the online live support we used to get from live apple representatives? it was instant messaging with the representatvies and they would help you with your problems. Does anyone know if that still exists? and if it does could you please give me a link to that site?
2). Is there any possible way for me to take the songs i have on my iPod and put them into my new library?
please everyone i need all the help i can get...ive lately been playing all my songs from a speaker system i bought that would connect with my iPod...i would like them to be on my computer...

  • Mac book Pro might have a virus please read and help

Hi guys Ive had my mac book pro for 3 years. Recently i keep getting pop ups from strange sites but primarily mac keeper. i haven't downloaded anything but my sister was watching a movie online a couple of days ago and I think thats were it came from. So firstly every time i go to my Safari Preferences and change my homepage, i close everything, and when i open it I'm brought to the same page which is something called only-search.com. Its ALWAYS my home page no matter how i try to change it. Another thing is that when i type in a search, the little text on the right says google search but when i actually search for it, it always goes to a yahoo search. The popups seem to come randomly when I click on websites. They open new tabs and promote their crap. Please help!

  • AAAAUURRRRRGGGH!HHH!!!! please read and help (if u can... )

ok, i FINALLY got everything working fine. Then today, I go to plug my iPod in and it says, "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." well, fine. I did. And i did again. And it still says that everytime I plug it in and try to update. It's no longer named Ian's iPod and its completely blank. I don't know why it might be in recovery mode but yea. I don't even know what it means to be in "recovery mode"....AURGH! please help me!

    Try this.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.

  • I want to sell my MacBook, please read and help

I want to sell my MacBook (1.83 GHz) to my roommate and buy the next model up (2.0), which was out of stock at the store when I purchased it. I bought this model because I was leaving for Japan in a few days and needed the laptop. I bought the MacBook in September of this year.
    Here's the problem. Well, problems.
I live in Japan. I'm in the Navy. Will I be able to get a hold of Apple tech support to find out what to do?
I've never sold or bought a used laptop before. Is there a way to "transfer" everything of mine to my new one, and then erase it from the old one, making it like new for my roommate?
I just got the Protection Plan in the mail for my MacBook. Does this expire? I had a 90 day plan when I bought it, I now have the three year plan still wrapped in its box. Can I save it to use on the new laptop, or does it have to be used on this one? And if so, can it be put under her name? Or, should I just send it back for a refund and buy it again when I get the new laptop?
How do I change all the licenses and usernames and such so it becomes "her" laptop?
Not as important as the others: Should I wait until Leopard is released to purchase the new one? When will that be? Or does it really matter.
I know these are tons of questions, but I need them answered, and it's difficult to find time (and money) to call tech support. I'm such a noob at this, as you can tell from my questions, but.
I appreciate any and all help offered!! THANK YOU!
    Cristina
I can be contacted by email at [email protected]

    Hi Christina,
Visit apple store in Japan area to talk with one of their apple guy.
You can transfer your previous macbook files to your new macbook using firewire connection:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh2333.html
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25773
For transfering your apple care, Iread somewhere it can be done but with additional fee that almost half of apple care cost, if that so, I recommend leave the apple care for her and get you another one. But if you never open or register that apple care to your macbook, then I guess you can use it for your new macbook (call apple care to make sure about that).
AFter you transfer your files, it is safer to do format and re-install your old macbook os x so it wipe all of your old information and she get the "fresh" one.
Leopard might be released on 2007, when? Nobody knows for now but estimated within first quarter of 2007.
If you and she can wait, then wait for it .
Otherwise you might spend another $129.99 or so for new Leopard.
    Good Luck.
ps: it is not recommended to put your e-mail on this or any open forum for you might get tons of unrelated e-mail sent to you.
