IPod Touch 3gen Water Contact Glitch

Couple days ago my ipod touch was in contact with water. I placed my ipod touch in a bag of rice for about 4 days without touching it. I was scared to turn my ipod touch back on so I decided to take it to apple to see if they can do anything. I took it to apple today and the guy that was helping me said that my battery was not accepting the charger and the only thing I could do is to trade in to get a new one for $150. I decided to go home and think about it. I decided to plug in my ipod touch to my laptop to see if it worked. At first nothing happened, but I just left it there and then few minutes later the screen appeared and it started to charge. Everything works except the screen was a bit glitchy. Anyone else have this problem?

If you have no problems, there is no reason to believe anything is wrong.

Every iPod touch has a contacts icon. It might be hiding. You can try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

It is a "refreshed" one. I broke my old one, but since I had a warranty I got a "refreshed" one. In the box they gave me a number to call if anything happened, but my brother threw it away. Do you think I could conact them, and if I can, does anyone know if the number on the card is the # here on the website?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- Try on another computer

Do not turn on or charge until dry. Dry by placing the iPod in a sealed container of uncooked rice for at least as week and change the rice daily. Then
- Try:

It "got worse" since it takes some time for the water to have an effect. The iPod may or may not work after it is dry.

Ok so i accedentally put my Ipod touch 5 in my pocket and went inside a lake. When i took it out it still works, but then after 10 minutes it stop working. I tried to turn it on. (bad idea D=) When i got home i put it in a bag of rice for hours and took it out but nothing. I used a hair-dryer but nothing too. Please HELP ME!!!!!

Turning it on very bad idea, the damage may already been done. Hair dryer very bad also, get's too hot, you can bake your iPod. You had the right idea with the rice, BUT-- it takes DAYS TO DRY OUT AN POD OUT! About 7 to 10 days. You put the iPod (no power) in a sealed bag with uncooked rice. Change the rice every day or two for 7 to 10 days at room temperature. Then you attempt to turn it on, charge and use. With what you discribed I'm thinking it would be pointless to try now. You can contact Apple about purchasing an out of warranty replacement iPod, water damage is not covered. Good luck, Cheers.

My iMac runs OS X 10.7.3 and I have an iPad 3rd generation.
My Address Book Contacts and iCal Calendars are in iCloud. I have no On My Mac contacts or calendars.
I can sync my iCloud calendars with the iPod touch by choosing the iCloud calendars identified with my Apple ID in the iTunes calendar sync dialog.
The iTunes sync dialog for the Address Book, however, does not show my iCloud Contacts and only has a choice for syncing all contacts, which I have chosen.
My calendars sync to my iPod touch, but my Address Book does not.

This says that it can't be done.
But I am able to do it for my calendars in iCloud, just not for my contacts in iCloud.
What is the reason for the difference.

Without cracking it open you really can't. This is a long shot, you could try drying it out. Do not attempt to charge or turn on, leave it off. Place it in a sealed bag of uncooked rice for about a week. change the rice every couple of days. After you dry it attempt to turn it on, you my need to charge it first, about 30 minutes. If it works great, if not you may need to reset or attempt to restore. And it may never work again, but for a couple of dollars of rice its worth trying. If you do get it to work the first thing you want to do is make a full backup to your computer. The thing with water damage is you just don't know how long it will continue to work. If you go to Apple be prepared to spend some money, water damage is not covered with the standard warranty. Good luck, hope this helps. Cheers.
