If for some reason you have failed to backup your music, in some countries you can redownload itunes purchases.

  • Ipod Touch (2g) Transfer Issues

I'm on Windows 7 RTM, when it comes to moving content from my PC to my IPod I have no issues, everything transfers just fine.
When transferring content from my ipod to my pc however, there are constant issues with the transfer freezing and what appears to be the driver for ipod simply 'locks' or similar.
This is an example of what happens:
I connect my ipod, load up itunes
I goto 'Transfer Purchases' as I've just bought some songs
It begins transferring the purchases lets say it transfers 1 file completely
During the next file the bar will freeze at some point
On my Ipod itself the 'sync' message dissapears as if the Ipod was no longer plugged into the computer, the computer and itunes application still think my Ipod is plugged in, even if I were to disconnect it.
It should also be noted that, after this occurs itunes does not start, and ultimately to get functionality back I must restart the computer.
I'm wondering if anyone has encountered similar issues and knows how to correct this?

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Missing ipod touch songs

My laptop caught a virus, which made have to reformat my drive, and reformatting my drive caused me to lose everything on my computer, including my iTunes library. the laptop didn't work anyways, so I switched computers for my iPod touch. It was working perfectly fine, until I installed iOs 4 on my ipod. This caused me to lose not all of my songs, but a good 200+. Quite a bit of the lost songs were previously from iTunes Store through my ipod, NOT my laptop. Is there anyway to recover those lost songs?

Yes, email iTunes at this link: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/ and they should be able to let you re-download the files you have lost.
You need to be careful when you sync after buying stuff from iTunes Wifi Store - when you have connected your iPod, click File in iTunes and click Transfer Purchases. This should make sure any new purchases get sync'd back to your computer (and stay on your Touch hopefully!)

  • Old Computer broke...how would i put ipod touch songs on a new one?

my old laptop is completely messed up and i have been trying to figure out how to sync my ipod touch to an new laptop without erasing everything. any help?

Try a manual backup of your ipod to save your data and settings, here's how to:
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

  • IPod Touch - Songs don't play and hard reset needed to turn on

I had not used my iPod touch in about a month.  It was on the dock during that time.   I have two problems.  One is that I keep having to do a hard reset to turn it on.  Second is that once it is turned on (and it indicates there is a full charge) iTunes will not play any of the songs selected.  I select, the app appears as though it will begin playing the song, but then stops as soon as the song begins and reverts back to the selection screen.  After a few minutes of this, the iPod goes dead again.  Is this a battery issue?  If so, can it be fixed and is it worth the $$ to fix?

Yes it sunds like a bad battery.  I would mak an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to verify.  Apple will replace the battery for $79.  A third-party place like this one is less expensive.  Google for others.

  • Ipod Touch Photo Transfer

    HI;
Part 2: I understand there is no direct transfer available at this time for photos. However, what I have found is that with my phone I can take 2megapixel photos and e-mail them or put in a microsd card from a camera and upload them to an e-mail address. They come through onto the Ipod touch promptly, and look excellent in the web browser.
When I save them, I lose all the resolution and they look horrible from the photos app.
So now all I am looking for is a way to save my photos from mail in there regular resolution.
    Thanks so much
    Jamie

what do you mean by 'no direct transfer' for photos?
you can directly transfer them from you computer to your ipod, syncing them like you do everything else.
the resolution of photos obtained on the ipod touch is a common problem (though not one i have encountered personally). the latest update claimed to fix this, some people said it worked, others say it didn't. unfortunately there may be nothing you can do about this - other than feedback to apple to let them know it is still happening.

edit: ok, i've see your original post about 'direct transfer'.

  • Ipod touch file transfer

Since I can't do bluetooth file transfer from my  iPod Touch I want to try another method.  I know I can use Safari to ftp to my Mac Mini server so is there any way to traverse the IOS file system so I can "put" my photos to my server?

You can use icloud to sync pics taken with the ipod to the computer, or you can import tham as you would from any digital camera using the cable.

  • Ipod touch songs not clickable in iTunes

    Hey everyone.
When i click the arrow by the iPod Touch icon in iTunes.
And then click a playlist, i.e Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The songs in the playlist are not clickable.
Does anyone know why? And can help me fix this?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You can't play content off an +iPod touch+ within iTunes. Just select the playlist or song within the Library itself.

  • Ipod touch library transfer?

I have a ipod touch. About a month ago my old computer crashed. That was the computer that my I-Tunes with my I-Pod Library was stored. I now have an I-Pad. What will happen when I plug my I-Pod touch into my new I-Pad with the same I-Tunes account? Will the library transfer or will I have to rebuild. Do I have any way of backing up my I-Tunes library from I-Pad?

    Welcome to the discussions,
you need to connect to a computer to sync your device. If you have to sync to a new iTunes library, your device will be erased during the first sync. But you can perform a manual backup to transfer your data and copy your bought apps and media by selecting File->transfer purchases in iTunes.
Disable autosync before you connect in iTunes/Settings/Devices.
Music you did not buy in iTunes will only copy to your computer if you use 3rd party software, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
To back up manually, make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes.

  • IPod touch Song count problem please help..

    Hi,
I have a problem with my friend's iPod touch.
he has over 5000 songs in his iTunes and in his iPod
but his iPod only shows 730 songs instead of all 5000
this is what shown on the ipod
The songs on iTunes are working perfectly but they're not shown in the iPod
Does anyone know what is the problem ?

Is there anything different bout the syncing and non-syncing songs like format or where they cam from?
Are they iTunes purchases? If so are Restrictions set on the iPod that would prevent syncing those songs?
Is there enough space on the iPod?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync

    - Reset all settings

  • How to set up a new iPod Touch and transfer data from old IPod Touch

ok, it's Friday night, I finished the cheese and about 1/2 a bottle of wine (myself...  not ideal for a smurf my size) and I still can't find the answer to my question after searching [to the best of my most current ability] all over the forums (I even searched long before I started drinking wine). I appologize right now for my ignorance and inability to find the answer on my own.... but could someone PLEASE, just tell me the best way to kill my daughter's Ipod Touch 2nd Gen (advertised as Gen 3, ha, ha, on me), and set up her new-(to-us) Ipod Touch Gen 4? I've already backed up her old device to my computer?  (it's a PC - sorry, it's free from my husband's office)
Do I set up her new-ish Gen 4 as a "new device" or "restore from back up?" She's young enough (grade school - & why she gets old/cheaper HW) that we both still uses my iTunes acct for her device and mine so that I own & can monitor/manage the music that we both listen to... but this time I'll set up her own iCloud acct.  Although the new device (let's call it device B) has been wiped clean from the last user, how do I set it up? New device or restore from bk up? Now that she saved up the $ I paid for it, to pay me, she's driving me crazy about getting it going for her. Her orig/current device, iPod Gen 2ish (we can refer to that as device A) has been backed up to my computer and I'd like to port all of her data (calendar, contacts, pictures/movies, etc) to her new device.  Please help this old mom... my girl is driving me crazy... and I feel bad not delivering her goods.  Many thanks.
