I don't think it's possible if you are stuck in recovery mode but I may be wrong...
Since your device qualifies for iOS 8(.1), that is the version that will be downloaded/restored to the iPad.
I do know that you can restore your iPad (from backup & as new) and keep the same iOS version if you restore using the iPad itself under Settings/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings but since you can't access this because your stuck in recovery mode, the point is moot.
Have you tried downloading the update in the middle of the night (2 am or so) where dropouts are much less likely to occur?
It's always possible to take your device in to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar reservation first) and do the iOS update there in the Apple Store.. I'm sure they will gladly help you out with it and not charge you a thing. The trouble with that would be if you don't have an Apple Store nearby.
Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

  • IOS IPS Signature-File

    Hi Guys,
We have recently purchased a Cisco ISR 2921,  and on its docs it is writen that this product has a License for IOS IPS Signatrue File,  but on the product Flash Memory there is no  IOS IPS Sig-File.   and while i try to download the sig-file from Cisco, it fails.
Can any one tell me where is an alternate way to download the sig-file ?

900 active signatures is quite much for a system that has no dedicated IPS-ressources.
But you can controll which and how many signatures get enabled on your router:
In the following example I first disable all signatures and enable the ones for web-servers. So just decide which signatures you need. But don't forget to monitor your router-ressources.
    gw#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
    gw(config)#ip ips signature-category

  • Correct procedure to update IOS IPS signatures on 2911 router

What is the correct procedure to update the IOS IPS signatures on an 2911 router?
I know how to download the signatures file (eg. IOS-S556-CLI.pkg) but what is the correct way to install the update?
    Thank you in advance!

The IPS signature package comes with a list of pre-enabled signatures, hence Cisco does not recommend enabling a lot more other signatures, especially not every single signature as documented.
The reason why is because the package might include retired/old signatures only for references, and not every single signature is required to protect your environment because you might not have the traffic for some signatures, you might not have some end hosts that are written with specific signatures, therefore, it becomes irrelevant if you enable it.
Typically here is how customer would enable/disable signatures:
    - Use the default signature that is enabled by Cisco (the default should fit majority of the customers).
    - Monitor it for a couple of months
    - Disable those that you don't need, and enable others if you think you require it for specific.

  • Where do IPS signature save at?

    Hi
i successfully load the IOS IPS package into the router, verify via CLI and CCP the IPS signature did compile on the router. (advanced mode, around 588 signature is active)
but it went gone (happened twice), i just want to ensure few things
    1. i did shut down my router, and migrate to production site, would it cause by the power off / on then IPS signature missing?
    2. i did remove the "ip ips iosips in/out" command that previous apply at my interface, would this cause the IPS disable and gone?
just counldn't figure out why now my router only have 3 signature only..
    thanks

    1. Please use the doc below for reference on how to configure IOS-IPS on the router. I will try to answer your questions using this document.
    http://tools.cisco.com/squish/9Be6a
    2. You will see in step 2.1 we create directory on flash to store all the signature files and configurations.
    e.g:
    mkdir
    router#mkdir ips
    Create directory filename [ips]
    Created dir flash:ips
    3. In step 4.2 , we configure IPS signature storage location by referencing the directory we created above.
    e.g:
    ip ips config location flash:
    router(config)#ip ips config location flash:ips
This is where the signature files will be stored.
    4. In step 5.1 we copy the signature files to the router.
    e.g:
                 router#copy ftp://cisco:[email protected]/IOS-S310-CLI.pkg idconf
    Loading IOS-S310-CLI.pkg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    [OK - 7608873/4096 bytes]
The idconf command compiles the signature after the file is copied.
    5. If all the above steps are done correctly, you should see the following files in flash:
    router#dir ips
    Directory of flash:/ips/
    7 -rw- 203419 Feb 14 2008 16:45:24 -08:00 router-sigdef-default.xml  <----Contains factory default signature definitions.
    8 -rw- 271 Feb 14 2008 16:43:36 -08:00 router-sigdef-delta.xml
    9 -rw- 6159 Feb 14 2008 16:44:24 -08:00 router-sigdef-typedef.xml
    10 -rw- 22873 Feb 14 2008 16:44:26 -08:00 router-sigdef-category.xml
    11 -rw- 257 Feb 14 2008 16:43:36 -08:00 router-seap-delta.xml
    12 -rw- 491 Feb 14 2008 16:43:36 -08:00 router-seap-typedef.xml
64016384 bytes total (12693504 bytes free)
    6. Make sure you do a 'Router#write memory' before you reload the router. This way the configuration done gets stored and is preserved after reboot.
Also make sure your configuration register on the router is correctly set to 0x2102.

  • 2651XM IPS Signature Update?

    Hello,
I have a 2651XM 256MB/32MB running 12.4(25) and I would like to update the IPS signature file.  I see that the last update for 256MB.sdf was from Aug 2008.  The latest IPS I found is IPS-sig-S518-req-E4.pkg from
    http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/PlatformList.x?sftType=Intrusion+Prevention+System+%28IPS%29+Signature+Updates&mdfid=277801011&treeName=Security&mdfLevel=Model&url=null&modelName=Cisco+2651XM+Multiservice+Router&isPlatform=N&treeMdfId=268438162&modifmdfid=278279418&imname=Cisco+IDS+Access+Router+Network+Module&hybrid=Y&imst=Y
    I've tried the command
    ip ips sdf location flash:\\IPS-sig-S518-req-E4.pkg
    ip ips sdf location flash:IPS-sig-S518-req-E4.pkg
but when I apply IPS to an interface and run 'show ip ips all' no signatures load and I get a message 'invalid token'.
I also tried seeing if the latest SDM will help but nothing.
My question is, what is it that I am doing wrong or missing?  Is my router too old to be able to get the latest signature files?
Any advice or guidance to the right direction is much appreciated.
    Thanks

You have a version of IOS that includes the older version of the IOS IPS feature (referred to as v4).  This release only supports signature updates using the SDF formatted files.  These files are no longer updated.
The signature update file you found (ending in .pkg) is the signature update package supported by Cisco's IPS appliances and is not compatible with the IOS IPS feature set.
The current IOS IPS feature (referred to as v5) also makes use of .pkg files.  You will need to upgrade the IOS of your 2651 to a release in the T train such as 12.4(24)T2 to obtain the latest IOS IPS feature release.
You can find out more about the IOS IPS feature set here:
    http://www.cisco.com/go/iosips
For starting with IOS IPS v5:

  • MARS: IPS Signature Dynamic Update Failed

    Hello all,
I checked the signature update on the MARS system and it has no update for over 6 months.  My bad.  I should checked this regularly.
So I tested the connectivity and it said successful.  Did the update now and failed:
Download Failed: CS-MARS could not download IPS Signature file - IPS-CS-MARS-Sig-S482.zip

It seems it does see the new signature out there but the down load failed not sure why.  I manually down load the signature and SSH to
the box manually did the pnupgrade using ftp and also got error:

So from there may be file was corrupted so I did the same for S480, S479, S478 and got same error.
Checked the thread in the community and follow the same step that in the threat and I am still geting no where.
Case is opened and still going no where.
If anyone ran into this problem before and had a solution for this is appreciated.
    Thank you.

It does not support manually downloading the file and perform the update.
Please use either local web server or direct connection to cisco.com site from the MARS as follows to update the IPS signature:

    Hope that helps.

  • WRVS4400N v2: IPS SIGNATURES || 365 days without an update??

    Good day!
I wanted to know how often Cisco determines it should be releasing new updated IPS signatures to ensure customers are being adequately protected from the latest threats? That is for those of us who choose to use the feature.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3419502#3419502
As you can see in the last posting about this very issue, it took Cisco over 365 days to release one signle IPS file.
Is the IPS file comparable to a virus definition file? Or does the IPS file simply not require being updated by Cisco... for years at a time.
I'm finding that development on updated IPS files are being neglected by the Cisco development team.
It will soon be comming up to August 9, 2012. That will make the last published IPS update 365 days old.
Thanks for any insight you may provide.
    Sincerely,
    Christopher Laurie

We should all get regular IPS updates, but I undersand some of the reasons why it could be tough to provide IPS signature updates for your device.  Basically you have an IPS *on/off* switch.  Therefore they have to be certain that ALL of the signatures aren't too sensitive.  Otherwise you would be forced to turn the functionality 'off'.
The SA500 Series routers have a little more flexibility to configure IPS.  IPS signatures can be turned on/off at the signature-level.
The enterprise-level IPS modules have 10 times the flexibility, are much more robust, and are highly configurable.  Custom IPS signatures can even be created by the end user.
All in all, we are dealing with 3 different types of IPS signatures and IPS engine implementations.  That said, your device really needs IPS signature updates at least 3 or 4 times a year to be effective.  We used to have a WRVS4400N v2 so I understand where you're coming from.

  • WLC IPS custom signature file

    Hi,
Where can I download the WLC IPS custom signature file? Is WLC support openLdap for user web or 802.1x authentication?
    Best Regards,
    Jackson Ku

The documentation for 5.1 is located at:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_configuration_guide_book09186a008055de07.html
I believe the regex you want is:
    [Mm][Aa][Ii][Ll][\t][Ff][Rr][Oo][Mm][:][\x21-\x7E]+[@][Ss][Ee][Xx].[Cc][Oo][Mm]
The + field allows for any printable characters (but there must be at least 1) in the senders email address. You should use the SMTP state machine with the SMTP Commands state set, direction to service port 25.

  • Cannot publish Flash Updates Verification of file signature failed for file SCUP 2011, SCCM 2012 R2 and WSUS all on same Windows Server 2012 machine

I am attempting to distribute Adobe Flash updates using SCUP 2011, SCCM 2012 R2, WSUS ver4 and Windows Server 2012.  Everything installs without error.  I have acquired a certificate for SCUP signing from the internal Enterprise CA.  I have
verified the signing certificate has a 1024 bit key.  I have imported the certificate into the server's Trusted Publishers and Trusted Root CA stores for the computer.  When I attempt to publish a Flash update with Full content I receive the following
    error:
2015-02-13 23:00:48.724 UTC Error Scup2011.21 Publisher.PublishPackage PublishPackage(): Operation Failed with Error: Verification of file signature failed for file:

I have redone the certificates three times with no luck.  I can import metadata, but any attempt to download content results in the verification error.
    TIA

    Hi Joyce,
This is embarrassing, I used that very post as my guide when deploying my certificate templates, but failed to change the bit length to 2048.  Thank you for being my second set of eyes.
I changed my certificate key bit length to 2048, deleted the old cert from all certificate stores, acquired the a new signing cert, verified the key length was 2048, exported the new cert to pfx and cer files, imported into my Trusted publishers
and Trusted Root Authorities stores, reconfigured SCUP to use the new pfx file, rebooted the server and attempted to re-publish the updates with the following results:
2015-02-16 13:35:44.006 UTC Error Scup2011.4 Publisher.PublishPackage PublishPackage(): Operation Failed with Error: Verification of file signature failed for file:

Is there a chance this content was already created and signed with the old cert, so installing the new cert has no effect?  In ConfigMgr software updates I see 4 Flash updates, all marked Metadata Only (because they were originally published as "Automatic."
No Flash updates in the ConfigMgr console are marked as downloaded.  I can't find any documentation on how the process of using SCUP for downloading content for an update marked Metadata Only actually works.
    Comments and suggestions welcome.

  • Verification of signature failed for file - when locally publish big file

Hi, I try to locally publish a package that is made of a 486 MB file. And I get this error message :
Verification of signature failed for file : ...
It works if I try with a smaller file (30~40 MB). So the issue is not related to the certificate. It's just like if there was a 'Timeout' that occurs during the process of publishing. But I can't see what to do to fix this.
    Any advices are welcome.

David, there's a natural filesize limit for publishing CABs of 384MB.
    This
article from myITForum.com has a PowerShell script that can be used to set the value higher.
    Also, SolarWinds has a
free tool (useful if PowerShell is not an option) to set this value. In addition, the utility can be run remotely. All it needs is a local API connection. It has built in help, but here's the syntax you'll need:
    /action setmaxcabsize /targetwsusname
    WSUSServerName /targeetwsususessl {YES|NO} /targetwsusport portnumber /maxcabfilesize

  • "no manifiest section for signature file entry" when run the Jar file

I built an application by using JBuilder 8.0 and it works fine. But when I deploy it into a jar file, whenever I run it, the following exception appears:

I had a similiar problem using NetBeans. There must be a way to view the properties of your jar from Jbuilder and set its manifest. I am very new to this myself, but all I did was edit another manifest and copied into mine. Here is my example manifest:

The first line is the default line for a manifest. It is very simple and there is much more that could be added, but is not always necessary. I recommend reading the documentation :
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/Books/javaprogramming/JAR/basics/manifest.html
Also if you have an archiving utility such as powerarchiver or winzip, open your JAR and check to see that you have a MANIFEST.MF file. If you do then edit it where needed, if not create one and its relative location should be set to META-INF/MANIFEST.MF.
    Hope this helps.

  • No manifiest section for signature file entry net/sf/acegisecurity/LockedE

    Hi,
I am facing one problem when I try to execute jar file.
Our requirement is to generate one jar file which will run our product. We have some dependent jarfiles like j2ee.jar, log4J.jar Spring.jar etc
I extracted all the above mentioned jars in to one common folder along with my code and created the new jar file. This new jar file have MANIFIST file with Main-Class: com.fmr.dcl.Cds.DclUi
When I try to run new jar file on commandprompt (java -jar NewJar.jar) I am getting some security Exception.
